Jeff,
Great find :) 97 in stock right now BTW so take ur time...not too much tho ;)
Do you think it is really worth it. You can get a 1600 for $54.00, no shipping charge.
I'll find out next week. Ordered one..figured wth...shouldn't have a prollem selling any of my 1600's as the slowest one does 1.9GHz :)
My thoughts exactly 'cept I couldn't wait and had it overnighted. ;) I already sold a AGKGA XP1700+ I had laying around and I'm probably going to be selling another AGxGA XP1700+ after I recieve this new toy. So between those two chips I should almost cover this buy. :banana:Quote:

Someone on another board mentioned these were probably "A" cores but still, any Tbred for $75 is a win in my book.
Yea...I just wanna see if it can top my 1600+ @ 2024MHz on straight water ;)
Even the A cores oc pretty good if you have good enough cooling. The only thing that was holding them back was the fact that they were running hot.
Did ya see all the "mobile" chips on there too now? I don't understand how they're different but man do they want some $$$ for em ;)
The mobile chips run on low voltages I think it was in the 1.4 area maybe even lower. I think most of the higher mobile chips are tbreds with low voltages.
are these really worth it?
i have a axp1600+ it does 1.733~1.8 but i havent got my water installed yet so i dunno how good it is hehe.
but i dunno if it would be worth upgradeing or just waiting till the 24/2600+ drop in a price a bit.
my nect cpu must hit 2.4ghz easy, cuz im tired of not being able to break the 2ghz bearier(sp?).
AMD Athlon
AXDA1700LT3C 930520850231
AIRGA 0232MPMW (C)1999 AMD
Welp, that's what I received and all the L1s and L3s are connected so hopefully it's fully unlocked. I'll be testing tonight or tomorrow.
Nice, Jeff!
So it def. is a Tbred-A then right?
Can't wait to see how it clocks for ya...mine is on its way :)
Yep, it's an "A".
sweet Jeff let us no how it oc's. mine will b here monday.:)
Running Prime95 at 1920 and 1.8v. Are these processors supposed to default to 1.5v? Because that's what this one did.
And it's also 100% unlocked on my 8K9A2+ without me needing to do anything.
At 1920 and 1.8v, I'm happy. If this little guy doesn't do a MHz more, I'll still be happy. ;)
Nice pick up Jeff:)
Can't wait to see how high that puppy escalates to. Let me clear up a misconception about the CPU's and being "unlocked". The T-breds starting with the 2200+ are ALL unlocked. The problem being the motherboards at that time would night recognize the stock multiplier on said CPU's. It was determined that if the CPU was changed to a multiplier the board recognized, it would function. This is what connecting the 5th L3 bridge accomplishes for older motherboards. The L3 bridges simply determine the default multiplier. We at first did all 3 L3 bridges....because that was what a stock 1700+ T-bred was..all L3's connected...then it was determined by Deerhunter just doing the 5th L3 accomplished the same goal. The only problem is you lose the default multi and have only 5x thru 12.5x. The newest motherboards coming out have the multiplier recognization problem fixed and should function with all from 5x to 22x such as the newest Abits do with the latest bios.
Jeff...the 1700+ T-bred will function in any board because of it's multiplier:)
Randi:D
Jeff,
Thanks for the update :)
How's the temps vs. a Palomino? 1920MHz is no slouch, but I was kinda hoping for more...hopefully w/ some more voltage if the temps aren't so bad. I'm anxious to see if its fully unlocked in my 8K3A. :D
Which cooling are you using on this chip BTW?
Edit: thanks for answering 1 of my questions, Randi :toast:
Thanks for clearing up the lock/unlock issue MrIcee. :toast:
I can't really compare to the Palo. because I'm using a new cooling method so I'm not sure what a Palo. acts like. ;)Quote:

I'm using a Swiftech MCX462+T... basically an air-TEC. But I'm also utilizing the nice, cold weather we're having and ducting outside air right to my Vantec Tornado. With that all said, I'm at 24C with the CPU at 1967MHz and 1.9v while running Prime95. In comparison, my XP2400+ would probably only be around 18-20C with the CPU at 2200MHz and 1.8v while running Prime95.
Thanks Jeff.
I've been able to run 2.2v into my Palomino @ over 2GHz and stay under 45c so I'm hopin I can send at least 2v to that tbred & keep temps reasonable :)
Then it will just be a manor of how well it scales @ that voltage/temperature.
Don't stop now, Jeff....go go go :D
I ordered one of these as well... so i'll be posting up here sometime next week with how mine does too :) seems like they could be the new overclocker budget chip.
My chip topped out at 1997MHz w/ 1.95v. I think I could have gotten her stable with a bit more juice but my mobo is limited to this voltage. I'm going to look into how similar this 8K9A2+ is to other Epox boards and who knows, maybe the Vcore mod. will be easy. ;)
The funny thing is I could get Prime95 to run at ~2050MHz for 20 minutes but as soon as I'd move the mouse the computer would freeze. I know I can get more out of this thing with more juice... damn it I need more juice. ;)
This is a pretty nice chip for $75 delivered.
well if it hits 70 bucks, im gonna get one.
Is there an easy way to unlock these? :|
Yep, just buy it. ;) (it's unlocked from the factory)Quote:

well ill wait till there like 65-70. its not worth going from a GOOD axp1600+ to a .13 1700+ if your not gonna gain any speed.
Someone wants my 1600+.. so...
Can someone Test this 1700+ .13 in a kx7 and see if all the multis work?
ill lose 35.81 buy selling my 1600+ and getting this 1700+(with a newegg year warrenty :) )
and i dunno if its really worth it.
nice speeds guys....
yes can someone please test them in a KX7 i would like to know if they are unlocked also...
apon thinking i might as well save an extra hundard and get a 2400+. no point getting a cpu that isnt gonna oc much better.
But id still like to see what others are getting?
I can't test it in a KX7 but I will test it in the 8K3A for ya on monday/tuesday when it gets here. Both KT333 boards...I don't see why if it works in the 8K3A w/ all mults that it wouldn't work in the KX7 w/ them :)
Nice OC, Jeff....I just hope this chip don't run too hot for me ;)

aight, im gonna plan on getting the 2400+, but i might still look into getting this 1700+ to play with. but 24 is one of my fav numbers :)
Jeff...
That is a mobile chip you got thats why the L3s arent cut and its stock voltage is 1.55. Either newegg doesnt know there mobile or they got the 1700s for a steal and are selling them as regular Tbreds. Also if you look on cpuid it will say mobile athlon.:slobber:
I'll be testing on a kx7. should be here tuesday or wensday.
same here :)Quote:

Umgawa,
I thought that same thing...just didn't understand why newegg wanted a fortune for all of em but the 1700+.
Any overclocking details yet? :)
Sinnah,
Jeff's are up there, and my chip is not here yet...I'm guessing I'll get the chip tomorrow and I'm busy tomorrow night so I'd guess wednesday eve for my results :)
Got mine in...no time to test tonight :(
I can't wait to see the results :) :D
I keep thinking and thinking and I really like these mobile chips and other tbreds cause they don't write on the core so you get a completely flat core surface for best contact! (except for the logo/emblem but still)
GO GO N8!
Awesome, this might become the next XP1600+ AGOIA Y.
I wonder why Thoroughbred Athlons under 2200 weren't out earlier though
I don't care if it runs hotter or cooler than my 1600+...as long as it runs faster ;)
If not, its back to the 1600+ :D
I should have time to test tonight...so we will see :)
The best part is...these chips come unlocked from the factory :)
I'm not positive if _all_ mults are available...we will see ;)
N8, can you let us know the results ASAP. Im worried they will run out of stock :)
I'm at work right now. I'll do my best to get the chip in & OC it till it bleeds tonight :)
I soo wanted mine to come in yesterday... It's on the truck "for delivery" today. And now i'm @ work :(. Hopefully my results are close to n8's. But my 1600+ only runs 1944mhz tops in 3dmark at 2.12~3 vcore. So somehow i think he'll do better :P.
There are still 54 in stock BTW as of this post :)
:upset: cause they are not available in my country.
I still have a 1700+ arkga @ 1705
kamikaze,
Have someone order one and send it to ya :)
Or, keep your eye on the Classifieds ;)
Who knows, If I go to the AMD event and luck out like I did last year, I might have a 1700+ Tbred for sale already :D
That looks pretty darn good....I think you have some more points in there too :)
Runnin a couple loops of 3DMark right now @ 2GHz...it doesn't seem to be choking at all yet. I'll tell ya one thing tho...this thing does run bout 10c hotter than my Pallie, lol. Temps 1/2 scared me until I remember how high my Pallie temps were @ 2.2v when I was air-cooled. I'll report back if I get higher :)
2040MHz was the max for 3DMark stable. I was hopin for more, but o well :)
My first impressions are that the chips runs about 10c+ hotter than the Palomino...and it costs about $20 more than the 1600+ pallie...OC's similarly, maybe a bit higher...but it comes factory unlocked up to 12.5X.
so basically its not worth the upgrade, unless u have a crap cpu so one that wont go as high.Quote:

Its certainly worth the upgrade. N8's XP1600 processor is one of a kind, the two results shown so far indicate that 1950 - 2050 is the norm for these processors. Sys has ordered two for me, he'll post his results here too :)
I haven't determinted the absolute stable points for my chip but so far it looks like this.
def 1.50 - 1600mhz
max unmodded 1.75 1800mhz
modded 1.95 1940's
modded at my max balls 2.15vcore 2.0ghz
I'll post up a screenshot when i find the max stable point. So far temps are mid 40's. (prime95ing)
I finally put this chip into my 8K3A+. My max. Prime95 stable was 2060MHz at 2.1v. I didn't have any luck with 2.2v... I dunno if it's my cooling breaking down or just that this chip gets very warm at this voltage but it actually hurt my o/c.
I still don't think this is a bad deal for $75 delivered. I probably wouldn't replace a fleet of AGOIA or AROIA CPUs, but I would buy this one over those if it were a new purchase.
What cooling Jeff?
I kinda agree w/ Sinnah. Its a toss-up really. Cuz the Tbred costs more...but by the looks of it, u'll get right around 2GHz w/ good cooling.....which is not so guaranteed w/ the 1600+ Pallies. It took me 4 1600+'s to find one that would do over 2GHz :)
OK, got me one 1700+ TBred too here in Austria. :)
stepping is:
AXDA1700DLT3C 41xxxxxxxxx
AIRGA 0230MPM
tonight I will post results on watercooling. :)
(I have a good Palo in my rig now - so the TBred won't be much better IMO, but we'll see...)
Swiftech MCX462+T (air-TEC) and Vantec Tornado with some ducted cold air.Quote:

Just an update ... something died last night! no boot this morning :(.
It could be the kx7, could be the tbred, i dunno didn't have time to fiddle before work. Though with temps mid 40's i shoulda been fine right? :(
What voltage were ya runnin into the Tbred?
Mine's been taking 2.2v fine so far....and my temps were in the mid 50's....like I said, this chip runnin alot hotter than my Palomino(mind you...my temps are coming from the internal diode).
From your picture the chip does not have the L1's connected... how are these chips unlocked?

Thanks for the quick results on the new 1700+ t-breds. Does anyone know if they are t-bred 'A' or t-bred 'B'?
The L1's are connected underneath the surface....hence why the L1's are "burned" on the Palomino's.
I'm 90% sure these are A revision Tbred's.
I'd be inclined to think these are rev a's.
I was only running 2.1v and the temps were reading low 40's. Prine 95 was stable for an hour before i went to bed.
Then ... dead. I really hope it's not the chip... But i doubt i can get another $60 refurb kx7 so that's a shame too. maybey i'll try an epox? :)

SWEET thanks man!
OK, ahm - its definetly TBred A. CPU Code 680! To end that discussion.
I'm testing now since yesterday. Hm,...it is certainly not that good like a XP2200+ :(
Yesterday it didn't want voltages higher than 2.05V. It wouldn't even boot into windows.
I have to sloooowly walk it up to higher voltages.
It does 1750MHz @ 1.5V max. It did 1850MHz only @ 1.95V yesterday :(
Today - after a 1833MHz@2.00V Burnin thru the night - It does these 1850MHz @ 1.75V @ 41°C folding@home :D hehe! 0.2V cheaper! :)
I think there is much more in this chippie, but I have to be patient and go step by step.
can it run prime95 or continuous 3dmark at 1850@1.75vcore ? F@H doesn't get it as hot.Quote:

So this chip isn't really worth it. Just wait until the price drops on the 2600+.
I dont believe so. The current market price for these is the same as an XP1600 in Aus. 1750mhz garanteed is very good for a Tbred, and 1800mhz @ 1.6v is also good for aircooled (aircooled, not those jet engine fans, and 6mm base copper heatsinks).
my first TBred AIRGA week30 TBred was a bummer! :(
I couldn't get it over 1915MHz by any means. It didn't like voltages higher than 2.03V.
so, I got me a newer one! :D
AXDA1700DLT3C 91xxxxxxxx
AIUGA 0235MPMW
-> 2083MHz @ 2,03V still testing...

Goldlocke,
Very nice OC there on that new chip! Wish mine clocked so well :)

back in stock soon.
does superpi, but not prime95 for hours. my cooling isn't good enough.
well §§§§ it's already back in stock for $58!!!
so the last batch was mobile tbreds? What about this one? Any guess? I hope it's not the pictured one
@Goldlocke: are you really pumin' 2.38v through that Tbred or is it a flaw in mbm? :o

N8 and umgawa: are you for sure the first batch was MOBILE?
someone else with the chip swears it's a desktop tbred. I'd just like to know the difference seeing as how newegg sells em for cheap desktop price.
@ richbastard: yes, for this try I ran 2.37V to my little TBreddie. In allday use I run 2.10V.
Err they weren't mobiles... the mobile processors are micro socket a. They are quite a bit smaller.Quote:

Mobile's are socket-a from what i've read...but I don't think this chip is a mobile. Its just a 1700+ Tbred A from what I can tell :)
just needed the right info - I have one coming soon at $58!
Hi, first post over here.
Im about to order a XP1700+ Tbred, a K7S5A and a Sapphire Radeon 9000. Yes, that is cheap and not at all highend. I'm using two computers at the moment, one C466 (FreeBSD) and one C300A@450, TNT2 (WinXP), btw fear my 3dmark score =). I intend to upgrade booth of them, and I'm starting with the cheapest upgrade, so I can survive until upgrading for real in -03. I believe that doing an expensive upgrade at the moment is a really bad idea with Bartons, Granite Bay and what not coming "soon", for me atleast since I'm a poor student.
I have actually spent more on the cooling than what I´m spending now, have an Eheim 1060, a maze3 and a huge radiator waiting. I accidently killed my CII-700 when i mounted a home made waterblock just a tad too hard. I'm hoping to push the 1700+ to 2GHz even though its a crappy motherboard and I'm stuck on SDRAM at the moment, did I mention that I'm a poor student, guess I did. Oh well, you just can't lose at these prices.
nossid: are you going to add a dipswitch to the board to be able to control multipliers? Why not get a better board since you have all that watercooling? Even if you had multi control you would only get 12.5 X 150 and from 150 to 166 it's hard to say if you can be guaranteed stability.
Yes, I intend to add all hardware mods possible. I study computer science and engineering, should be a piece of cake. The reason for choosing this board is that I don´t want to buy any DDR RAM att the moment, to expensive for my taste and more particulary my budget. I know my memory bandwitdh will suck real bad but I can live with that aslong as i don't have to buy any more RAM. I will pass this upgrade to my unixsystem when i feel like upgrading for real next year.Quote:

If anyone have another motherboard to recommend I'd be happy. <100USD is what I'm aiming for and it has to run SDRAM and of course overclock better than the K7S5A. I live in Sweden so good deals at newegg and such is pretty worthless to me. I intend to spend aprox. 250-330USD for CPU, mobo, and GFX (GPU if you prefer that). I might pick up a MSI GF4 Ti4200 64Mb instead of the Radeon 9000 but that is kind of stretching my current budget.
/edit:
Ordered the 1700+, K7S5A and MSI GF4 Ti4200 64Mb yesterday, will report back when it gets here.
good luck - if you are held back consider switching to better rated ddr to reach 2.0ghz
do you need to join the L3 bridges if you want to overclock the other way and increase the multiplier instesd of the fsb and want to use a multi above the available 12.5 for this chip
This is something I want to know too, how to reach multipliers over 12.5. If possible please give me a hint or pass me an URL.Quote:

i just got the 1700+ today, and it reads:
AXDA1700DLT3C
RIWGA 0234
I havent seen this be4...
Does anyone have this?
it seems to be alot newer then the ones posted in this thread. Maybe my luck has turned around?
I just received two week 34 RIRGA 1700+ Tbreds and I was going to post the same kind of question about them.
I'm benching one right now and it just ran PiFast at 1994MHz and 1.85v... not too shabby! ;)
[edit]Just ran PiFast at 2022MHz@1.95v... 2GHz for $58 delivered![/edit]

my problem is my ddr wont do past 170FSB on any Reasonible timings.
i was able to bench at 180fsb, but i had to use the slowest timmings on everything. like 2.5-3-7-3-3 and no perfomance options clicked on.
So i hope i can run like 12x166 if this cpu will do sub 2ghz.
I've got a RIRGA stepping on it's way to me..... should be able to update this weekend.
Here are a couple screen shots of the RIRGA XP1700+ Tbred undergoing testing...
http://www.adventurevision.com/somepictures/2003MHz.gif
http://www.adventurevision.com/somepictures/folding.gif
PiFast and Prime95 ran fine at the above speed and 1.90v but Folding required a bump up to 1.95v to be stable.
hey Jeff what board/ram do you have?
It's current on my Epox 8K9A2+ and Corsair XMS PC3500C2 with cooling being done by a ducted Air-TEC. I'm going to let it run throughout the night Folding, and then I'll probably upgrade one of my slower rigs. It should be able to hit 1.90-1.95GHz on plain old air without too much trouble.
crank your tbreds up ppl! Those ~ 2050MHz is just crappy! ;)
I want to see > 2,15GHz out of them.
Mine is week35 - so mine is the newest so far.
My 1700+ arrived today, will probably get my new motherboard tomorrow. Will be nice to see how it performs.
http://www.cyd.liu.se/~isary369/oc/1700.jpg
And yes, it is an AIUGA 0235. It is really a shame that it will have to reside in an ECS K7S5A. What is the fastest anyone is running with SDRAM, I need something to aim for.
