Anyone looked into this yet? Thinking about picking one up but its going to need at least a vcore mod and a vdimm mod(1.7vcore 2.8vdimm). If not i should be able to get it reasonably cheap(2nd hand but nib) and post pics as the guinne pig with some help from vmodders.
I havent heard anything about this board.
If you can post the pics, we can work out the mods. :D
just the person i want to hear from. Hopefully the vdimm mod is the same as the nf3 250 board then at least i dont have to order anything. Looks like i'll not get it till the week of the 18th or so. I do have a nice new 4.0gp sony digital camera so i should be able to post some useable pics =)

vcore overvolts anyway =) and 8 is the lowest available in bios but ive been down to 6 with clockgen and ive run superpi at 1m 325HTT and 4m at 300HTT.
I still take the battery out, standard clear ritual of power down, unplug PS, remove cmos battery, jump cmos, replace battery, plug in and power up.
hm thats weird, on my NF7-S ur not supposed to take the battery out, ur just supposed to power down, then jump cmos, then wait a couple seconds, put cmos jumper back, and plug in PSU, and power up, and it works fineQuote:

Ive been use'n the same system for clearing cmos since i was messing with the dfi nf2 infinity and it stuck, worked just fine on the nf7-s 2.0 also and my asus a8v.
Its far from perfect but i want to try and solve the one or 2 issues im have'n with it before i say anything as they could be user error or just inexperience at this point.

Sounds like a grounding problem to me with the boot issue.
ISL6559CB: Vcore regulator --> either pin #10 (FB) or #13 (Vsen) is mod location. Most likely it is #13 (Vsen), and not sure on trimmer value, but easy to figure out once you take a resistance between #10 and Ground, then #13 and Ground.
RT9202: Vdimm regulator (most likely) --> pin #6 is mod location. Again, not sure on trimmer value until you take a resistance between #6 and Ground.
LM339: Could also be Vdimm.
We need the voltage readings at the specific points and on the chips as well (except for the ISL6559 chip) in order to make a better judgement call.
could be, i dont see how the motherboard tray in the case that has rubber feet would be any more/less grounded than the motherboard tray sitting on a piece of foam on a desk.
I'll give it a try again tomarrow to get the voltage readings. QuadDamage said 100k VR to pin 10 of the ISL6559CB chip for vcore and 50k VR to pin 6 of RT9202 for vdimm. Seems to match your thoughts on it, i gett the resistance readings tomarrow.

ok, its confirmed pin 6 of the RT9202 to ground. buddie of mine tested it with a 25k VR and sitting pretty at 3.0vdimm. still no word on the vcore mod, i assume he'll prolly be try'n it before me as his boards undervolting vcore...
here ya go. confirmed by a friend of mine use'n a 25k vr for vdimm and a 50k Vr for vcore. 50k and 100k respectively would most likely work just as well but a touch safer i think.

i'll cross those bridges tomarrow. So far he's been out to 3.2vdimm and 1.72~1.73vcore with these mods. He's use'n the bios sensors to monitor voltage but i'll get the read points as im gonna hang extensions off them. Credit Stevehat1 over at FM for being the guinne pig and QD for the resister values. All i did was ferry information really :toast:
Im pretty sure vtt tracks since he's use'n 3.2vdimm. 1.4vtt prolly wouldnt keep up to well but its hard to say. Its so similar to the 8kda3 that i imagine it does.
as for vdd, i'll look into it if i run into a situation where it becomes a problem. but im way over 300htt as it is.
i still havnt even gotten my board to boot outside my case yet, but ddr booster ETA tomarrow. 5 each 5k/10k/20k/50k/100k 15 turn ceremets and 30 smd grabbers ETA tomarrow also. I should have gotten a couple of 500k's but i forgot. Doubt the ddr booster will work, but wanted to try it and even if it doesnt i can get back $40 of it or slamm it in my nf7-s 2.0.
Well the ddr booster doesnt work, and killed the board. New one on order, should be here next week.
okay sportsfans. epox #2 is in and other than a very very slow running nvlan(got a netgear lan card in) she's just as good if not a hair better than the first one.

For the Vdimm mod you may use some of the free points "left" by epox below the chip - find them by using the multimeter. Easier than soldering directly to the chip pins, and also easier to remove.
ok so what size resistor do i need for vdimm? I'm looking for 3.3 and up. My bh5's need volts :)

So does this board feed VDimm from the +5V rail or the +3V? I see lots of posts with people running under +3.3V, but if it feeds off the +5V we could run a lot higher. I don't have one myself yet, but I'd buy one if I knew I could get over 3.3V to the Dimms, not using a vio mod. I prefer to be able to adjust below 3.3V too.
As far as i know its from the +5v
BTW how can the mod be done on the SC2643VX legs ( rev 2.1 ) , because i use smdgrabbers ?

Well, I just got my board today....un-mod'ed atm, but it won't make it through the weekend like that I think. I just wanted to add a couple things to this thread. The first is that I poked around a bit on the v2.1 VCore controller area and Cranox, I think you are SOL for a clip-on mod. Your going to have to solder.Quote:

I have already done the mod but not tested yet (waiting for cpu). Before testing i have a question (should have ask for it earlier) but does the mod look the same on every revision?

@ Adasi: Yeah, VDimm is the same on both board Revs, and yup again, lower pot resistance to raise VDimm.
I just finished the mod on my 9NDA3J using grabbers and it worked like a champ. Throwing ~3.4v to my BH5 sticks... :toast:

I had that board Epox 9NDA3+ for a couple months now, I bourght it when it first came out, I was lucky, because I've also DDR:Booster, and I was gonna try it with 9NDA3+, but I din't have alot time lately, into today I found out by reading this thread, and i seen that Mongoose420 had Killed his board by messing with DDR:Booster, (Thank you dude ! You just save me from kiling my board with it :rolleyes: ) Anyway, now I think i have to do the mod like everyBody else :( But I need to know one thing, if i want my Vdimm around 3.0v, what resitance pot I should have ? :confused:

I prefer changing the resistance on switched off system. Just for safety - my friend burnt his mobo, not 9nda3+, because he used to change everything "on the fly" and at one time his resistor suddenly burnt, you can imagine what happened next....
On the first page there is a pic who clearly shows you what to do!! there stands: use a 25k or 50k pot! now you say you have a 50k pot so use that one, I used a 20k pot for the mod and it works too, the only difference is that you can't tune it that fine!Quote:

And maybe a tip for you AMDfan, solder a molex connector to the vdimm readout point a put a multimeter in it, it's quite handy to read the vdimm and more safe for not shortcicuiting the board!
I actually always adjust on the fly too, but I buy some nice quality vr's for stuff like this. And actually, a lower resistance VR gives finer tuning, it just gives you a higher start off bump. (50k/15 turn = 3.33 kOhm/turn, 10k/15 turn = 666.6 Ohm/turn, less Ohm's per turn = more precision)
Good advice on the Molex too. I just clip a wire in there, with the end of it stripped and tinned and use the aligator clip attachment on my meter to clip onto it, ground from the case. Lets you read while you tune without having to turn, poke, turn some more, poke again, etc. Just watch and make sure you never ground that wire end, lol, that would be bad. ;)

You all keep talking about the voltage read points to read the voltages. With the vold mod, will the readings on bios be accurate still? Will the voltage actually be DIFFERENT than what they are reading after the mod is done? Thanks!

If you want to know the exactly voltage of your Vdimm mod, then you should use the Digital Multimetter, you will see the real voltage of your Vdimm, :toast:Quote:

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned about how you dont have to solder directly to the chips leg. This is also true and confirmed. Just below the chip there's 6 solder pads, stick the multimeter on the chips pin and touch it with the pads till it beeps (well, mine has a setting that beeps anyway) and solder to that instead. Less risky :)
Is there a VTT mod? What does VTT actually do? Because I have been reading about A64 memory controller deaths with high vdimm, I thought maybe this was actually related to VTT. 2.7v / 2 = 1.35v through the memory controller, 3.3v / 2 = 1.60v through the memory controller. If it's as flakey as it's supposed to be, perhaps this is the cause?? I know absolutely nothing about volt modding, so this is almost certainly wrong. But, you know, sounds like a possible cause to me?
If I buy OCZ VX PC4000 will the vdimm mod be apropriate to give the ram enough voltage to get good latency timings 8^)?

I'd like to put a resistor, behind a 20k pot 10 to 20 turn, that keep voltage at 3.6 in case the pot don't work or is set to 0k.
I wannt to keep safe when I solder all that. When I would have buy the pot I will not know if the pot is set to 20k or 0k :( My PC run 24/7 so I don't whant the ram to take 5v if the pot die :)
So my problem is that I don't know what resistor I should use to keep at 3.6v, I know that a 3k give 3.2-3.3v but that's all. I'm not sure with the calculation and do not whant to frie the board. So if anyone know.
What kind of pot/resistor our guy have been using 0.5W, 0.1W ?
Another thing that I whant to know is where to put the third leg of the pot ? Does a pot work similary in each way ? :confused:

KoNiaK: My mobo is still fine after running 3.6V for about 1 month straight. I already moved on to a pci-e board, so unfortunately I didn't run it much longer to help your confidence, but I'm sure it would go indefinately.
Regarding the pot legs, you are only using 2. You can use either the first and middle, or last and middle, as long as you start with the resistance between the 2 you use at max before installing. Which pair you choose depends on which way you want to turn the pot to increase VDimm. (Play with the pot and an Ohm meter, you'll see what I mean.) You can ground the unused leg if you wish, but it isn't necessary. Also, there is no positive or negative on a vr, the middle leg is on the wiper, the arm that moves along the internal resistance. The 2 outside legs are on opposite sides of the internal resistance, so when the arm is moving away from one, resistance increases, and it is moving closer to the other, so resistance decreases on that side. If for example, you use leg 1 and 2 for your mod, either 1 or 2 can go to the "hot" pin on the chip and the other to ground...no polarity for resistors. Oh, and .5W should be fine...I actually use 3/4 W myself but you aren't really dumping any real current so 1/2 W will work.
edit to add: Also, I'm not sure what value to use as a 2nd resistor for safety net. It's a good idea, but just keep a dmm on the VDimm while adjusting and you won't get the single VR set to 0 Ohms on accident.

if you have an rev. 2.1 mainbord try the mod by Kyosen.
In Rebels Haven we have so far only one for rev. 1.1
The mainbords have diffrent kind of of pwn chipsets
rev. 2.1 is PWN chipset SC2643VX
I have one an suggestion by connecting pin 10 to 20 (FB to GNd)
with an pot 50K to start.
You need an multimeter for measuring the actuall vcore
between FB to GNd.
Soldering on legs of chipset SC2643VX is not easy. This chipset if
very small. Maybe precision grabblers are an alternative to use.
Due to it is complicated I use also the Kyosen mod, by using
an fix 220k resistor instead a pot. Gives me round about 0,12 v more
vdimm to max 1,72 v.
But I wondering why the vcore mod works.
R278 is no 560K restistor it is capacitor.
replacing an capacitor with an pot or resistor is a little bit curious. :D

First I'm not sure that it is for rev1 (EDIT after rereading the thread I found that rev1 & 2 Vdimm mod are the same)
And secondly where should I take ground on the mobo for the middle leg of the pot and for a molex to read Vdim ? Mounting holes are not great since after soldering two cables it isn't easy to screw the mobo.
If there is a more apropriate spot let me know.

Thanks polli, I did the mod using mounting hole as GND. I found answers to my questions on another forum.
Regarding Vdimm reading Polygon got the right spot, at least on my board.
So is your mobo still running ? which voltage ? 24/7 ?
vdimm is round about max 3,35 volts.
But I never tryed so much on my G.Skill memory
vcore with the first one original bios increase to 0,11 volts with the mod
max 1,71 volts
the newest Epox Bios enables 1,75 volt also for an A64 Winchester CPU
on rev. 2.1 boards. So I have now a new max of 1,86 volts vcore.
Normaly no one do not need anymore an vcore mod on rev. 2.1
mainboards. Bios selectable 1,75 V are enough.
I'm not a overclocker to do CPU barbecue :D
The A64 3500 was'nt so cheep.
I ask Polygon, as per his info the bios 1,75 volts option is for
him only viewable for A64 FX not for a Winni. He has also the newest bios
installed. This must be a diffrent between rev. 1.1 and 2.1 also.
Maybe an result, due to diffrent kind pwn voltage controllers.

well, i've just finished the VDimm MOD on my 9NDA3+
at the moment (according to BIOS) its running at 2.94v...i found that even when set to 2.8v in the BIOS it would read around 2.75v, im not sure if the board was undervolting or not reading the voltage correctly (does this with ALL other voltages... so i assume its reading a little lower)
so, i think its running a little closer to 3.0v...
i am running a 3800, with 2x512mb PC3200 OCZ EL Plat Rev2....previously, i was unable to run at 2-2-2-5 @ DDR400 with DC...i am running that right now and it SEEMS to be stable...keep in mind, this is about 10mins after i unplugged my soldering iron :p
I've just completed the vdimm mod on my EpoX 9NDA3J ver.2.1 with a 10kOhm resistor. It's very simple, and works great. The voltage regulator is: RT9202. BIOS volts are 2,91.......real: 2,98-3,01V.
