New PC3700gold rev3+4000gold rev2

Guys

Word is getting out about these new modules so i better give you some details.

Both these modules feature a new Hynix IC that does pretty well with low voltage and lower latency.

The 3700 is rated at 233fsb 2.5-3-3- and the 4000 is 250fsb 2.5-3-3. Most of the 4000 should be hitting 533 speeds with 2.65V or so with a lot doing higher.
Ryan did a small amount of testing and found on some boards the modules will do 2-2-3 at 200fsb or 2.5-2-3 but the bulk of the boards needed 2.5-3-3 at 200 but ran just the same at ddr500 also.We also found they did quite well on NF2 with 512's also although i will be doing a heap of tesing on this platform to confirm in a week or so.

I have a bench we ran off at the lab running a 2.4C on a P4C800E.No special cooling, just stock board and dimms.

Edit..i don't know why PAT is off but I will ask ;)

bigtoe,

Why is it everytime I get new ram from you guys it seems like bought to quickly

Anyways I was wondering what you got the PC3500EB to do on your 2.4C rig.

Back to the topic, man that PC4000 is fast as hell.

~Bob

Good work OCZ! thanks for the heads-up Bigtoe :D

Do you know if these Hynix chips like high voltage? Or if OCZ found a way to blow some internal fuses or something to allow for more voltage?

more ram on the market!.. geez i need to make 4 clones of myself to have time to play with all this stuff..... such is a severe ram addiction :o hehe

I need to make four clones of myself in order to work enough to even get addicted in the first place!

Looks nice. Any more info on the NF2 liking the 512 sticks? What FSB are we talking about here? Was this Dual channel? Was it at 2.5-3-3 timings? 1t or 2t? Are the 512 sticks single sided?

And while we're at it, just curios, is there any chance of us seeing EB PC4000 anytime?

i don't know, but isn't that i little bit weak for 266MHz ?

i mean, >6000MB/s @ DC.....that's about 2900MB/s @ SC......lets say 3100MB/s to look optimistic on it....

i get with 200MHz @ SC (one SS 256MB-stick and one DS 512MB-stick) @ 2.5-4-4-11 (!!!) about 2700MB/s....so, what's goin' on ?

EDIT: right....i think, don't develop some crappy things like that....just make ONLY the EB-series :) :D

dude, you´re confused, quickly have a beer!

better a whiskey :D

I've got 6000 mb/s at 257 2.5/4/4/7! Foto later!

can u try with pat off?
BT's result is with PAT disabled.

thats the lowest latency pc4k ive ever seen! any idea what the max clocks on those are at say 2.8 or 2.9v? this could be a godsend for us p4 and a64 owners to run like 266 to 280+ fsb without mods and its ras-cas3 is tolerable because of all the bandwith.

Will you guys make PC4200 and PC4400 editions as well?

Now that DFI has made a new super OC mobo, we will all need to reach as high speed on the memory as possible.

And how high can the PC4000 reach on higher voltage, 2.9V - 3.1V? Can we expect something over DD600?

Anywho, really nice RAM ;)

I will have modules and will test in the US next week..the whole point of these modules is that you can run 266 or so with 2.5-3-3- timings at 2.65v or so.

I didn't do the benches but i am sure i will be posting some much better ones when i get to tweaking.

I have heard 275 was pretty easy again at 2.5-3-3 so you should be seeing some huge Unbuffered benches and everest benches.

Buffered sandra is NOT a good test as its cpu fsb dependant...the unbuffered should tell a much better storey.

god 275fsb? :slobber: 275x9=2.48GHz on the cpu! 280x9=2.52GHz! god this would go great with a good clocking 3200+ newcastle! It would totally own my 250x10! I know ras-cas3 will take some hit but even bh5 isnt likley to do much over 250fsb for 24/7 gaming anyway. any ideas on pricing for 2x512mb of that pc4000 goodness? :slobber: again

/me droolz

my new RAM once it's out :)

-Lucus :)

pff my 3700EB does 2-2-2-6 at 200 FSB with no problems (needed 3.2v though).

And here is a pic of me breaking 6000 MB/s with my new 3700 EB :D

Edit: And this is at 250FSB 1:1 3-2-2-8

How many volts your giving it Blind_GI?

2.8v or do you have it vdimm modded?

Im giving it 3.2v on my ic7-Max3 (VTT is only at 1.4v), so im sure I could go a decent bit higher with the VTT fix implemented.

Nice :toast: . Well I'm not really the type to mod my IC7-G so my 3700EB is sitting at 2.8v and 3-3-2-8 atm @ 245 1:1.

I'm thinking though of buying a an AI7 to OC higher and give my ram more vdimm

I hate to say this but thats a sad overclock if you need volts just to run at pc3200 speeds

Why thank you :|

The only voltage I tried (aside from 2.8v because it wouldn't boot) was 3.2 (vdimm fluctuation from 2.9 - 3.1), and I know the 200FSB is nothing special, its the 2-2-2 timings that I was getting at.

try 2.5-2-2-8 timings instead and see how high it goes

I think the point of 2-2-2 was to see if it was possible or not..

ok guys a note on the 3700 gold rev 3 and 4000 gold rev 2

The build batches that were finished this week had a high enough yield that the majority of 3700 gold rev3 from the first test batch were passing the 4000 gold rev 2 spec , so if your looking to save some money the gold 3700 r 3 should be a good buy .

As a side note , I cant really guarantee future batches but I wanted to give bargain hunters a heads up

Well lets see some more vdimm... I'm able to run 260mhz 3, 2, 2, 5 (1t) 2 X 512MB w/ EB3700.. w/ 3.2v vdimm.. I need a fan blowing across them and give them more volts... But the question is, can this new memory outperform the EB3700?:D

so how much is that 3700 and 4000 gold? That new ram is only gonna be worth it if I can lower the multi to 9 and raise the fsb high enough that I dont lose more than a few MHz on the cpu. say I do 250x10 then 275x9 will be ok for me.

When can we have them on the european market??? The 3700 that is...

Can you OCZ guys tell me what the markings of the new Hynix IC's are? Like the other ones were D43 and these ones are ??

No?

Probably Hynix's new D5 chips.

lalPOOO
Alrighty.. now we just wait for them to be put on generic pc3200 crap and then we can all be happy :D

Although I wonder how their clocking consistency is ... ie how many you got to go through to get something that will do at least 250 @ 2-2-5-2.5 @ 2.8V.

bigtoe any benchmarks yet?

finally! :D

and those chips arent that bad after all, i found out that x-4-4-x with those chips scores almost as well as bh5@ x-3-3-x !

try it! :)

So for A64 the 4000 2.5-3-3 going to beat out the 3700EB??

depends...

I'm looking for some ram which will do 250 HTT speeds on the A64 systems, but have only got 2.7v max ram voltage on this motherboard.

I'm assuming then that this new PC4000 Rev2 will give me a chance at that. Not a definate, but a shot at least.

That a fair assumption?

Nick

I saw the PC4000 Gold Rev2 at Newegg.
Should I buy this RAM? I need ram that can do 270-280Mhz on ASUS P4C800 E Deluxe @ 2.5/3/3/6.
Can the new RAM hold more voltage ... 3.1 or 3.3V and what timings should I expect @ 270Mhz at that voltage?

Just on a guess I'd say that the 4000 rev 2 maybe making 275-300 (conservatively) would probably trounce 3700EB which 'might' make 250... Agreed?

if that timings are ras-cas4, forget it. if its a 3, itll be fine for stock. I dont think you may make 250fsb with good timings on that 3700eb at only 2.7v may be time for vmods

If you're looking for high FSB but unwilling to do vmods, then this stuff if is probably for you.

Sorry to go OT, but Geforce4Ti4200, how about those links you promised for the Winchester overclocking?

I will be comparing a Kit of the PC4000 rev2 against some OCZ 3500EB in a 939 Asus A8V board. I will run max stock ie 2.8v to ram, and then run about 3.0v(max my board allows after vdimm mod-dammmmm ovp). I will post review when completed.
I might try to get a set of 3700EB too, but just depends. Probably won't have PC4000 for about a week or so, then about a week to test and write review. So about 2-3 weeks total.

dammmmm ovp).

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

on many current boards, the OVP can be 'fooled' with another pot to ground from the proper leg on the IC module, my DFI, for example has it, allows for some more 'juice' over what the board will deliver without wigging out.

nice!!! thx a lot man! :toast:

3700Gold rev3 results. 2.8V 2.5-3-3 timings. 280fsb. 1:1

Sweet :D

AFter reading this http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=873 I'm not really not sure if I should spend my money on something else rather then ram like watercooling. I'm currently running 256x2(total 512mb)Corsair 3500C2 at 254mhz with the 5:4 ratio with 2-2-2-5 timings on 2.75V . I believe my processor is holding me back from going any higher as I can run my corsair 1:1 @ 223mhz w/ timings of 2-2-2-5. Here are my specs;

P4 2.6c@3.3ghz vcore 1.5875 aircooled by Alpha PAL 8045
Asus P4P800 deluxe
RAid 0 Sata 75gig Raptors
BFG 6800gt core 414mhz Mem 1.15ghz
380W antec truepower in a Aluminum WaveMaster Case

Should I upgrade to a Gig of ram and try the 1:1 ratio with looser timings or go with a watercooler? Any suggestions or comments ?

Nice bigtoe,
Can you bench these sticks on a P4 platform? I'd love to see them doing 280 on P4 @ 2.5/3/3

I can't get to 280 because my 3.2C is only on air, but at 251FSB 2.5-3-3-5 2.75V I get 6236/6167

Does anyone know if this memory would get tighter timings with more voltage, like 3.2v? I think I remember hearing that Hynix chips don't work as well will voltage over 2.9 like BH-5 do but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knew for sure?

I have not been able to run tighter timings with higher volts on my 3700rev3.

They are great sticks though. I was able to do 275 no prob at 2.9v 2.5-3-3-7. That is on S754. I have a 3200+ S939 winchester along with a K8N Neo2 on it's way so hope to see how they do on that platform.

Has anyone with 1G able to reach 300HTT on s754 prefably the DFI LP NF3 250GB board with the Gold PC3700?

I did 300 cas 2'5-3-3 2T with the 4000 rev2 and 285 2'5-3-3 at 1T. Not stable (it was stable@275 1t).

PD: 2x512 on a DFI UT. Molt bonic el nick xD

Do the 4000 rev2 use better hynix chips than the 3700 rev3? Wondering because I remember seeing someone state that the best TCCD chips went in the new 3700 PE.

bump :D

Yield was that good the IC's were all the same...that why we pushed the 3700 rev2 as it was a better deal for the end user

So they will yeild the same OC?
