def try a new bios!
what manufacturer?
Point of View
thats a good clock, yours was speedbinned as not making ultra clocks
well there are cards out there that run 470+ with the same cooling (evga 6800 ultra extreme edition) and i cant really imagine that some gpus clock to almost 500 and his doesnt even reach 400.
it could of course be, but 365 sounds a bit weird to me. i think its oc protected somehow.
stephan, can you get some additional card cooling and see if it has any efect on the max oc? if you can get 370 with better cooling (cold air from ice cubes or fresh air from outside) then its not a lock.
do you have a waterblock you could use?
have you tried giving it a voltage boost yet?
Yea, its deffinitly not normal. Did you checked if your HSF is attached properly?
And what is it doing when you go over? Crash? Aritfacts? Wierd screen?
sounds very much like an oc lock. Ive heard of GT's doing 410(not much, but way over 365) stock.
i pulled the room-temparature from 26°c. down to 15°c.Quote:

no effect :(
hummmmmm thats weird indeed.
id say its a lock then... did lardarse reply yet?
maybe you just got a bad card? personally never heard of Point of view.
i did, they were the first to release 6800u cards and the first to sell them.
This is gonna crap then..
Maybe try the 6800 Ultra bios??
Lardarse had someone mod the 6800 ultra bios a few weeks back.
The modded bios is somewhere in these forums.
Just search up Lardarse & you should be able to find the bios.
Make sure you back up your bios first & then flash.
Hopefully it's just a bios lock.
Cheers,
Minnyboy
noooooooooo...
I was going to go 6800 GT over X800 in hopes of better OC scaling... but....
if it was clocked lock, it would not overclock 1MHz, if you try to overclock and click apply, the clock sliders will just jump back to stock. I speak from experience with my fx5200 that I needed to use coolbits hack to oc. probably just got a not so great overclocker. if you must have more oc, just sell yours and buy another, I went thru 6 ti4200s
Where did you get the card form?
Still waiting for my PoV 6800GT
there are also locked cards that let you oc ~10mhz and then start to artifact like crazy or crash.Quote:

im also speaking out of expirience, had a 9600NP and a 9100, both from club3d, and with a new bios the cards oced fine.

Yeah, theres more then one kind of lock.... Its probably a BIOS hack that they made, so at the first MHz bump, its unstable since the BIOS dont support it. And probably he needed more then 1MHz before that the unstability was visible.
And why did you got 6 TI4600's?????? that quite dum, instead of buying one top notch card.........
yeah maybe they set the max clocks a bit higher at 365 because of termal throttling? the gpu adjusts its core freq afaik, could be that it accidently sets it to a few mhz above the default clock for a part of a sec sometimes, and to provide full stbility they set the lock to 365mhz to prevent the card from gwtting unstable or crashing.Quote:

just like he explained, he sold his g4ti and bought a new one hoping it ocs better, sold that one again and bought another. he didnt buy 6 cards at the same time ;)
I know, but he could at least save money.... Just doing that, will only bring him a 1.5K max of more, but by saving a bit more money, he could get like 10K more......
my GF4 Ti4600 does only 15MHZ and then do some artifacts, perhaps is locked too, it's a CreativeLabs
I am not gonna gain 10k on top of my score(16.5k to 26.5k) without a $800 fx53 plus s939 mobo plus 9800xt plus 3700eb ram and this will be at least $1500 were talking about. as for your ti4600, its heat limited if your using stock cooling
I dout you'd gain 10k of that...
dont forget he said "and a 9800xt"Quote:

Yea, its still 90% skills, 10% money:D
I'm pretty sure a X800 XT PE or 6800 U $500... will get you the 26.5k score...
but as usual ti4200 chooses the hard route...
Received my Point of view 6800gt today and i don´t notice any Lock on Core MHz. Mine does 370 without any errors.
maybe random cards are lock just to piss people off.....???
Well, I'm waiting for my PNY 6800 Ultra to Arrive Soon, and It BETTER Not Have Any OC Locks for This Kinda $$$ ! :p:
Doing 420/1.14 on air atm, no artifacts.

with one of those, 3dmark2001 will become 95% cpu limited, only nature will gain fps. all other tests will depend how fast my a64 is and I dont have $500 for an x800xt and not another $500 for s939 3500+ and not still another $350-400 for a gig of bh5 ram then I gotta do vdimm mods on top of this. I think I will stay out of this, I leave all that to those with money and more skills than me. I am perfectly content with my "cheap" ti4200 and 2800+ a64 :D
My 6800 non gt non ultra is memory OC Locked :/ gpu flies to 410 on air but memory wont move 1 Mhz
3d mark 2001 isnt the end of the world.Quote:

Who cares about your system speed if you have a freakin' 16 pipeline graphics card?
3dmark is similar to games, 3dmark uses tests that are based on games. I will be cpu limited equally in games as well. I might as well save my $$$$$ and get a 9700 pro and overclock that instead. sure I wont have 250fps in nature or anything but every other test will be as high as my cpu can push them and ditto to games
Looks like P O V GT cards are one to stay away from.
Who needs a core lock??
well, never heard of that company anyways...
Things are starting to look up. ;)Quote:

Keep us informed.
Must be for the european market then...?Quote:

Here's their website:

What a bummer if the non-ultra and gt are clock locked, i don't expect the ultra to be locked cause it's the top of the line.
Manufactuers of these cards don't want the cheaper gt to run at ultra speeds?
We sell the Point Of View cards. I can only assume they have locked them as they offer a 3 year warranty!
can you test one of the cards?
if they oc less or more than 365 core we can def say is they are locked or not. :)
Can't test them as we wouldn't be able to sell them as an A Grade product, plus we sell them out as soon as they're in stock :(Quote:

Got a few of the POV 6800 Ultras in tomorrow :)
not sure if its poss on the 6800 series but in the FX series its possible to up GPU\mem voltage via bios GPU can go from 1.2v to 1.5v, not sure how high mem voltage can go, just a thought. oh and for all you out there with a FX card, its also possible to enhance 3d image quality through the vc bios without a performance hit (or none that i noticed anyway) and you can also greatly enhance shader performance too for the FX card via bios.
some benching: http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=279873357
Point of View is maybe better known as Sparkle.
I've owned a PoV FX5900XT and I clocked it from 390Mhz core to 520Mhz with stock cooling and even to 650Mhz with vmods and custom aircooling. So they don't make bad cards just because you've never heard of them.
I agree, you should invest in a 9700 or 9800 for less than $200, itd be the best bang for your buck.Quote:

I got the same problem as Skynet here.
POV card, clocks to 370 on air, anything higher (no matter if 410 or 380) gives me the same problems: 3D2k3 will run, but stop suddenly somewhere (sometimes even later with 410 than with 380), then continue after some seconds.
I can't put my water block on yet, but I guess it's not the temperature that's keeping me down.
Anyone with a good Ultra bios for me to try?
Try the hardware monitor in rivatuner and tell what happens if your card just stops. Maybe some new throttling mechanism.
I've got mine PNY 6800GT and it clocks decentlyQuote:

Sweeeeeet, did you try custom cooling and vmods yet? I've got a PNY GF6800GT coming soon :DQuote:

any word on EVGA? might nab one...
I just picked up a BFG 6800 GT and it OC`s fine, but it makes no diffrence at all on the bench scores, it scores exactly the same at stock 375 then it does at 425mhz.
This is on my s939 system, so I`m not sure what the bottle neck is.
weird, I can take the core anywere from a 10mhz underclock at 360mhz to 440mhz and the 03 score is within 30 marks.
It looks to me like it has some internal clock regulater, it displayes whatever you want it to, but it effects the performance not hardly at all.
If you oc to much, performance will decrease. Try 400Mhz, that should give you a nice boost.
Then again you can always verify the true clocks in rivatuner if you suspect some clock locking mechanism.
GAWD what a dumb ass!!
I was tweaking the 2D speeds!!
Lots of diffrence when I actually tweak the right 3D speeds!!
I need more sleep. :|

I needed a good laugh. Glad I'm not the only one to do things like this :)
Any word on the EVGAs @ zipzoomfly?
my PNY GT: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2779898
445/1230MHz core is watercooled -> 13554 marks (seems low doesnt it?)
Ay, GoldLocke. Can you tell me your BIOS settings on you Shuttle AN50R? I can't seem to get past 2200 MHz with my Kingston Hyperx.Quote:
