BTW I'm from the UK as the £ may suggest, if anyone knows anywhere other than CPU City and Overclock.co.uk then please post here :)!

any suggestions on the board choice m8? :) I can get a refurb NF7-S from CPU City as well for £52 quid, 12month warranty.

52 pound for a refurb? Motherboard prices must be crazy over there. New nf7-s are ~ 90 USD over here nowadays.

Anyhow, most people say dfi nf2 ultra infinity for the huge FSB overclocks it can get unmodded. I personally prefer nf7-s because it gets a stronger cpu overclock (100-200mhz for me) and with 2x512 sticks the dfi doesnt do any better on FSB anyway. But if you are going with 256meg sticks anyway, it's probably best to get the DFI.

I've tried DFI three times, all three boards died within a week :) So I'd rather go for an Abit board.

And yes, England is extortionate for hardware :)

I hear the XPMW's are the poorest overclockers overall? Is this true?

I have one and it doesnt even like 2.4ghz @ 1.75v.

I know three people with these from Overclock, one does 2800 and the other two do 2750, on water or good air.

One's mine :toast: This stepping is great.

Considering you're on DFI board, that's pretty damn good clocks. I wouldn't complain. You will probably get 70~ 150+mhz boost on Abit NF7/s boards.

I think I'd prefer a 2600 over a 2400... Just sits better with me - there isn't much of a price difference, and I figure there may be a slightly better chance for a nice overclock, no?

IQYHA or IQZFA MPMW or similar ?

EDIT: Since there are so many variations, and even getting the "right' stepping may not guarantee success... Perhaps there is a way for you to just get multiple CPUs, test them each out on aircooling without excessive voltage, and keep the best of them. I'd pay slightly more if I knew the chip was going to be a good one!

mine XP-M2600+ FQQ4C IQYHA does:
12x200MHz = 2.4GHz @ 1.6v
13x200MHz = 2.6GHz @ 1.7v
12x225MHz = 2.7GHz @ 1.825v

i can't remember if it's an MPMW or what, but i will check the pics i had for it! ;)

AN-7. VDIMM = good. Heard uGuru is under control and the latest TicTac bios allows MBM functionality.

Excaliberpc should ship worldwide, UK is listed in their registration page.

that was before the L12 mod, when i couldn't go more than 225MHz FSB, & using a SP-97 & 92mm TORNADO!
i will try to play with the CPU again, when i get a new decent PSU! :o

what does your 35W clock like mate? Thats the same stepping as the one I'm interested in.

In another post here, I heard that all of the XP-M chips ending in XPMW overclock slightly worst on average than the others. I know this is true for my IQYHA 0348 XPMW 2600... oddly enough, XPMW used to be the cream of the crop for the DLT3C 1700+'s didn't it?

Still deciding... will order on monday.

They only accept PayPal from what I've read for outside US and Canada customers, I don't use it :(

It's marginally cheaper than here for both 35w and 2600, £57 each :)

they have,

2600+ AXMG2600FQQ4C / IQYHA0351MPMW @ £72

2500+ AXMH2500FQQ4C / IQYHA0352RPMW @ £66

the 2600+ stepping is good isn't it?

Yes, I have not seen one 2600+ 0351MPMW that was a bad clocker. I have four of them here. Tested 3, all 3Ghz stable and two of them did 3100MHz+ @ pifast. So go for the 2600.

Do a search one the forums here.. You'll find some good threads with results.

My XP-M is a 2600 0351 MPMW too. Can do 3.12GHz at 260fsb on LP B... (not with my current one though :mad: )

Superpi up to 8/16M, pifast and Aquamark.
