Q. What is Richland ? Where is Kaveri ?
A.In all probability, Kaveri IS delayed (if not doomed). HD8670D is GCN v1 though, isnt it ?Quote:

It's still VLIW4 as far as we know.
Very keen! Was going to build my new HTPC based around the 5800K but this looks to be even better :)

Kaveri is for Q4 2013 (and I think, it will be only for mobile segment in Q4) what we seen at CES. Kaveri is SR core in APU. Richland is somethink as Piledriver refresh for APU.
So only thing different in graphics is increased frequency?
I dont know, if will be more shaders or not. But higher core clocks and higher IMC memory support increase FPS in games too....
It's tweaked Trinity die with more clocks at the same TDP (for both CPU and GPU). It's still VLIW4. As for Kaveri it's not doomed and it scheduled for Q4 launch this year.
Does integrated graphics is real HD8000 or just rename HD7000
I find it hard to believe AMD will release this in Q2 and then follow it up with Kaveri six months later. Even Intel doesn't have that fast shelf clearance.
Those model numbers are ambiguous. Most folk here say that HD8670D is VLIW4 which is used in HD69XX/Low End HD7k.
Lisa Su talked about Richland improvements compared to Trinity arch during CES 2013 :

38"10
its gcn not VLIW4.
Can't wait for SR :D
Quad SR modules with GCN igpu and dedicated ram on die would be insane...
I though this kind of info was only available to the 100$ per month semiaccurate subscribers... :p:
the legit info is free.... fabricated info goes for $100 per month.
At least its baby steps in the right direction. Get the GPU whipping intels HD offerings more than they already do, then work on the APU performance itself, as... well lets face it the APUs performance is just barely good enough so it doesn't completely embarrass itself.
Im seeing kaveri starting off as oem again as itsso close richland.
Unless this is whats in the ps4
Need to figure out if its gcn or still vliw4.....edit...oh ok its vliw4
Maybe Richland is OEM part mainly and kaveri will release first to retail.

Desktop is really going to take a backseat, Intel and AMD are going to follow the money.
Quote:
AMD CEO Rory Read said the company has “strong” design wins for embedded and semi-custom APUs. For a bit of perspective, AMD’s embedded business accounted for about 5 percent of revenue last year, or $271 million. This year the figure could be closer to $1 billion.
Yeah that's gaming console money. They locked both major deals for CPU/GPU(or APU if you like).
Any ideas on release dates for Richland?
Kaveri's looking at a late 2013 release yes?

Is richland going to be in laptops ? Or is it just desktop for now?
I would like to see a graph between top discrete cards and CPU graphics during last few years (well, since the introduction of i5).
I think it would show that CPUs are gaining more and more ground. And they will gain even more.
Any richland laptop/mobile news?
is richland coming out tomorrow?
I've found this:
http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/30...-12th-of-marchQuote:
According to our sources, the NDA will be lifted on 12th of March, 8am EST, and we are sure that we will see at least a couple of reviews as well as some additional info regarding the price and the availability date.
hm, but I dont know nothing about it...
restricted paper launch of igpu like last time lol?
i saw another website saying march 19th
we'll see
4.1Ghz base and 4.4Ghz boost ...
Lol, it's far from old time, that 4ghz overclock was unbreakable by AMD's chips ...
So evrything is done each 22ns.
D2Q + Q2D, should be insanly be loooooooow ...
Yes, you are right :) Thanks!
Hmm I wonder if these will fit in my laptop which has an A10-4600m looks like same socket.
This would be awesome
Probably just need a biod update and win8
Sweet
More like a MAJOR BIOS update....
Charlie covered Richland in detail:
http://semiaccurate.com/2013/03/12/a...with-richland/
Looks interesting. The amount of little tweaks they put into it makes it more balanced product than Trinity was. It can dynamically clock to higher frequencies(and last longer at them) within same TDP, it can CF with GCN cards( how did they do that?) and it has somewhat lower power and heat output. The additional software bundle that comes with it is a solid bonus. Should be enough to tide them over in mainstream notebook segment until Kaveri strikes in Q4(hopefully).
Don't forget the surprise of this whole affair: Richland's Northern Islands GPU architecture is compatible through Dual Graphics with GCN cores.
yah my a10-4600m clock speed bounces all over the place and when i played with the p-states i could drop almost ever p state down by a few mv and it was completely stable.
im kinda glad they got to spend extra time with this generation and tweak it
Man these specs are great. Seems like alot of power within a 35w envelope.
As someone else mentioned I hope they find there way into some quality chassis.
My daughter not only wants gaming power but it has to look cool :)
This will help the steambox ;)
I want to see bench numbers between A10-4600m vs. A10-5750m
And power consumption
Am I the only one who hates the A4-A10 thing? The A6 for example, the same name 3 different core choices, just terrible for consumers. I should note I own an A6 laptop, shopping for them is incredibly confusing when you don't have the internet in front of you.
I have to agree the naming scheme is very confusing when shopping for them. Luckily I'm going the A10 route for her needs. They are pretty easy to shop for.
I'm thinking top tier Richland + mid range discrete should be a really nice laptop. Probably wont need 7970m at that point.
but if you make OC iGPU and APU at the same clock(Trinity OC as Richland), results will be the similar. I tested it...maybe only 2-5% difference, because function of Turbo at Richland is not the same.
Stilt: I made compare there: http://www.coolaler.com/showthread.p...=1#post3140835
without Ice storm (some bug at my score) are results very similar
its bug of CPU-Z...it was dualchannle. GPU I set as A10-6800K (and CPU clocks too)
Aussie retailer PC Case Gear has these slated as a June 4th release :D

The APU's are getting just about perfect to abandon dedicated cards, just need to add sidechannel memory access to them so you can drop a stick of GDDR5 in for more performance :)

What's charlie talking about?
That may be your opinion but SemiAccurate posts a lot of interesting and accurate information months before many other sites copy and post it up.
It's worth noting that subscribers get the info. first and more in-depth reports than the freebie stories posted at a later date on SemiAccurate. You don't actually need to subscribe at all to read many of the stories immediately and the special additional stories a few weeks on.
After many sleepless hours for AMD's engineers and some creative forensic analysis, AMD discovered that they could gain considerable improvement in the performance of the current architecture by further tweaking the layout of the transistors. The process has begun in Richland, but by the next generation, viewers will notice the die shot resembles a fingerprint. Who knew Jerry Sander's impact on AMD would continue by producing the global optimum for all performance metrics encoded in his loops and whirls. A big "thumbs up" to Jerry.
SemiAccurate isn't a "leak site". Their info. is generally right on the money, IME. Sure there might be an occasion when there report isn't 100% accurate but for the most part they do a good job and actually research before they report, unlike "leak sites" who have moles telling them part of the story.
SemiAccurate media is a pure shame. Charlie Demerdjian is the worst tech journalist on earth.
The guy always whine about bad journalists who tell BS but no one can beat it at this game.
He really seems near insane.
IGN reporting AMD has mini movie of Core Warriors utilizing and winning with the force of APU HSA Fusion technology. With E3 starting soon, the new next-gen Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One will also showcase the power of AMD Jaguar and APU HSA Fusion technology.

Richland is in stock on the egg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&name=Richland
Richland desktop APUs are in-stock and shipping.

AMD Richland = rebadged CPUs , rebadged iGPUs , rebadged chipsets = Disappoint , Bring ST, i want to replace my old Athlon with ST if AMD promises that ST can challenge Haswell.
Richland = more clockspeed with less power draw, less heat and higher OCs on air :). iGPU should also OC higher while the whole package will be drawing less power Vs overclocked 5800K.
You posted complete nonsense. If you don't understand Richland you should educate yourself. "informal" has it correct. There are some other goodies with Richland APUs that people have not discovered yet either. You just need to know where to look. It's right in front of your face. :)
So what is it?
Hsa?
This ttailer is pretty kick ass!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQcj...e_gdata_player
All AMD can do is Increase clock speed and reduce TDP without changing architecture ? Richland is nothing more a Rebranding Box with CGN architecture.New Gpu should Come with New Cpu's architecture.no need to educate when AMD is Stuck on Step while Intel is jumping from one step to higher step.look at Vishera with 5GHz at Nuclear TDP for challenging Intel 4770 ;)
Damn, that looked great, first time im saying this about AMD promos.
Although richland looks good, 149$ is stretching it ,it has very high freq, in some tasks its gonna be quicker than 8350, but at this price you can buy intel cpu plus discrete gfx, so we will see.
@Behrouz
You cant say its a rebadged CPU, because its brand new die, brand new masks, brand new whole package.Yes ,it utilizes building blocks that are in use today, but tweaked and planned anew. Its like saying phenom x6 is a rebadged x4.It aint.
So I wanna buy an A10-6800k at newegg
What is this secret everyone is talking about?
Is it software?
