hey,
This is probably a early tread, but if some dont care for NDA post results;)
whats the chip and how it OC, Which cooling, Which cooling you try and how much you win(OC) by changing, temps(idle, full load) BIOS voltage, RAMs, CPUZ screenie.....

Valid results from Stepping 3 only please.
Also post your SL7xx
Thanks,
you did say your review would be up tomrrow right fugger?
I'll post them next week. (3.2C Prescott)
got 2.8,3,0 and 3.2 supposed to be here tuesday AM, Place i ordered wont ship till monday.
Hey skate use your spell checker, It's Thread Not Tread, unless you asian. Just a joke!!! Do not bash me!!!!
I'll be posting a hell of a lot of data, you can be assured.
these are not mine but I'll post em anyways..
3.2 (ES, steppin3), 1.50V, R404, Superpi8M => 4506MHz, 1.55V,R404,SuperPi 1M => 4644MHz
Its a good start I think ;)
looks great! only 1.55Vc! And no 17 multi, i whant to see some 17:)
This is to compare a 2.8 prescott to a 2.8 northwood 2.8 prescott will post soon...

http://www.blairwing.com/images/282.jpg
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7511339
This is an es and the processor is not reporting properly..
Thats a bit strange results, you should beat me by alot or even if i whould beat you in some not that much!!!!!!
Fugger... where are your results?
All the major hardware sites have posted there reviews... wheres yours? I have seen the stock benches, now I want to see Overlcoked benches. I knew the Prescott was going to suck at stock speeds (it only performs the same as Northwood), but I am curious to see what will happen once we start hitting 4GHz stable on air ;)
Give him time. Isnt looking to good at stock speeds MHZ for MHZ comparing to northwood. But something interesting @ anand.
The gap narrows MHZ for MHZ as clock speeds increase.
http://www.anandtech.com/cpu/showdoc.html?i=1956&p=24
As you clock the Prescott higher it increases in performance compared to a northwood clock for clock. So going by this @ 3.5ghz and above, the Prescott should pass the northwood on scores MHZ for MHZ.
Hopefully fugger will test this theory. I shall tuesday.
This is the first time i have not seen any overclocked benchies, From 8 different sites. Some Xfiles stuff going on here??
Good thing is, Prescott is driving P4 prices down across the board. Cept for EE's of course.
you meen if we compare 3.4NW vs 3.4Prescott the NW will win, but if we OC the two at 4GHz the Prescott will win?
yep, only for high clocks, which is what I expected. This should do well for people who run at 4.2ghz 24/7, but bad for stock.
Tedinde, I was just about to post that :)
Its rather interesting 'feature'.
And it actually seems to work like that.
Some SuperPi 8M numbers we can use to compare em:
NW @4.8GHz (300x16 5:4 2-2-2-5) = 5min 34sec
Prescott @4.5GHz (281.5x16 5:4 2-2-2-5) = 5min 33sec
So at those clocks that Prescott can beat the NW which is running 300MHz higher and has 15MHz higher RAM speed! Its getting rather close to P4EE performance levels there...
I think I am going to order a 2.8E and a 3.2E and test this out with an IC7-MAX3 bios 1.4. I have a WC setup that I just moved too and expect good things! Hopefully one of these CPUs will take me to 4GHz+!!
Yes I saw that as well... the higher clocks Prescott gets the better it performs (in comparison to NW's). If you look at it a 3.4 Prescott scores more (comparitivley) then a 3.2 Prescott when comparing the NW counterpart.
And with 4.0GHz with stock volts on air we can expect a big yield in performance over northwoods at the same clocks.
Yes skate. What's driving me crazy is no OC'd bench numbers.Quote:

All im seeing is stock speeds everywhere. probably 8 reviews so far.
Im hoping fugger will drop the hammer on them all soon. So far it's not cheering me up about the 3 prescotts i ordered, until ready anands article.
Not liking the heat factor either. Might have to sell one in a vapo complete, and go to a mach1 Modded.
Tedinde - we're in this together! I got a 2.8E and 3.2E from PCPROGRESS next day UPS on the way! Should be here Tuesday. We will both be happy or pissed off together!
-kris
My 2.8E should be here tuesday too, hope to get some nice results:D
will 90nm help make Prescott ramp higher frequency? or not. because it seems it will need to.
Its help alot, but blocking the Vc a bit
supposedly it dosnt allow over 1.6v, but then again aren't there motherboards that are going to allow you to surpass that?Quote:

Where are Fuggers numbers? I haven't had time to read all the threads today yet.
Mine from Spartantech, the same company, Kinda seems illegal same address!!!Quote:

I'll meet you there if they dont show up pissed off!!! Just kidding.
What im hoping for is everyone is reviewing ES review samples, month old at least, Retail versions will hopefully be a newer revision stepping from those, and maybe run cooler.
I read somewhere that "fry's" has them ready to be put out. Hopefully some one will have them tomorrow to give us something to read.
Give him time. reviews arent as easy as you think as "forum reviews" Spell one thing wrong and you get laughed at by the whole world!!! Even with a 5ghz CPU!!!Quote:

You don't really want to surpass that...thats the reason for it.Quote:

He didn't put up numbers, because he has an old stepping 1 core, but look on the front page.Quote:

As soon as he gets a new one expect a full review from him.
Soul, thanks :)
Hrm, it sounds like Stepping 3 doesn't have quite the heat output as stepping 1 did?
Yeah the temps are down it seems...
He put up numbers last nite though after I posted that, not sure what chip he used.
Is it possible that they gave the reviewers the POS scrap ES's to sample? I mean, if I was intel I'd do the same considering if you mess one up you wouldn't want to sell it to the consumer so just give it away to the reviewer.
No, That would be stupid. I'll give the reviewer a POS chip so he can post his sh*tty results to the thousands of people who read his review. Intel could put a piece of Sh*t between two pieces of glass, place a few hundred pins in it and still make a profit. So I don't think thier going to worry about suppling some good procs to the reviewers.Quote:

LOL! I am going to quote that!
That's what I'm trying to say, they make a profit either way. So they don't really care what they give to the reviewers... Could be scrap...Quote:

Now why would they want to do that.Quote:

Scenerio: I own a resturant, A large newspaper critic is coming in to eat some of my food. He will print his review in next mornings newspaper.
Do I:
Serve him a plate with gobs of hair and undercooked food or
Serve him a wonderful meal that I know he will love.
I know what I would do!!
Azzo.com came through. NO BS!!!!
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/tedind...cs/shipped.JPG
They will get praise from me tomorrow and along with a lot of others with unanswered questions!!!
Also to add, they couldve jacked their price for this up high but they didnt, Sure they are more than the big guys. But they are priceing about the same if not lower than the 2.8 northwoods on their site if you take a look.

What about yours tedinde?
PC PROGRESS is now saying 2/20 for the Precott. I cancelled my order. What a bunch of liars. They said they had it on 2/3 (I think) for next day shipping. I ordered a 2.8E and a 3.2E. They JUST emailed me today to let me know that they were on backorder. They really pissed me off. I will NEVER do business with them again. Just goes to show, stick with what you know. AZZO, Newegg, ZipZoomFly for me only...
what do you mean Skate??Quote:

Please Post your results, all like in the first post. Please no discusion on the results. Im doing this thread to have an overview of the Prescotts. Please post your results, cooling, steppings, mobo.....(all what ive said in the first post)
3.2E Malay Week 49
Batch: L349B207
2.8 Multiplier (14X)

Mach 1 Non Modded
EDIT: Idle -19C Loaded -9C
(sig has rest O gear)
Tops 3D/Prime Stable 4102Mhz @ 393FSB 1.55V
I may have to order another prescott, 3.0 and see what is happening.:D
Hi guys new here but I will tell you that the date is set for the 20th of this month for the chips. One of the main reasons for the hold back was mob support. As you will see many compaines had to update the bios to make the Prescott to work correctly. Though some may have the chip they wont ship till they know they have support and correct settings on the mob., Also the chip is tested to be hotter I would think that may be cut back in the bios update? But The newer chip sets will most likely be a better option. i think this was over looked and a test run for the chip. Once out there the new chip set will be out by April as there is info out on a release date already
here's my max prescott OC
dude thats real nice, wats ur primestable or stable oc?Quote:

HOLY CRAP! What kind of cooling charlie?
You will find the answer in his sig...
2.8E.
not sure of the codes, the CPUs in this PC at the moment, but it's coming out tommorow. so I will look then.
terrible CPU in my opinion.
I won't bother trying another for 3-4 months.
this thing brought my R507 Prometeia down to 25C in BIOS.
thats with 1.6 volts on the core when trying to break 4.1 ghz.
didn't happen.
at 1.65 volts, the CPU gets stuck in a constant reboot, over and over.
this CPU would be great for daily use under water at 3.5 ghz I feel.
but not much else.
heres where it got bad, just after 3dmark the temps shoot up to 67C
I wouldn't try to run 3.5 ghz or more with this on air for long.
I'd be afraid the motherboard would just fry or something.
67°C? OUCH!
prescott is just one hot cpu.
Hmmm thats bad. :( 67 is alot.
