little CPU-Bench by "Mr. Intel-Hater"

Hi folks!

One of the members of the Planet3Dnow.de-forums, Intelhasser (translation would be "Intel-Hater" or "Mr. Intel-Hater" as the INQ says... ;) ), has written a little CPU-Benchmark.

It´s a little DOS-based program, optimized for several CPU-architectures (P4, K7 and below).

Now he´s looking for as much results as possible and if YOU have some extra-time...let´s say 5mins...then please visit the following link, download the benchmark (v1.1.8.10 is the lastest version) and submit your results.

Unfortunately, it´s not as convienient as 3DMark, where you only press a button and the result is transferred to the Futuremark-Server.

You have to enter some information about your system, enter three values found at the bottom of the result.txt file and finally copy and paste the whole result.txt into the submission-page.

But as I said...took me less than 5mins...so I´d appreciate some help of you and I´m very excited to see some results of your highly overclocked CPUs.
My TBred1700+ maxed out at 2669MHz (1,85V, 40°C, only low 205FSB due to bad OC-able NF7-S) and a final result of 63.14...

Did it! But he doesn't have a K8-BAT! Just took the K7, got 64.xx!

Only 2(!) from hundreds of thread-reading guys went to the site and benched their machine.

A little bit disappointing...but it was worth a try and enroscado at least made a new No.1 entry.

Ran the test and added my results. Overall rating 79.22.

Only prob was that my L2 got entered as 12 kb instead of 512 kb. Guess I didn't hit the "5" key hard enough...:)

Athlon 64 3000+@2140mhz.

alright, I did it, and got 9th place. I need to run it later at a higher fsb. I have been burning in this new ram and had it running at 285 for now. 295 should give me a bit of boost. Also I just went and ran it without closing out my browser or turning off the firewall and antivirus.

The guy who made this benchmark, intelhasser, has optimized his benchmark for the different CPUs (386, 486, etc).

But he has no special bench for K8, so K7 is the best one for AFX.

The first memslot can't be used. The sekund have to bent the memmodul. No need for cooling on the mosfet or bridge.
The fan is to prevent kondens on the USB and Lan.:D

These results are interesting - ambix takes also memory into account, about the half of all benchmarks need high memory bandwidth.

I found some other duron/athlon/barton results, where the rating is really ok and reflects the different cache sizes.

There is a good performance decrease from barton to palomino, and also from palo to duron.

But over all ambix does not rely on big caches like other benchmarks (or real life applications) do, because there's simply not enought code. Games consist of ten-thousands lines of source, where ambix is really small against.
Also, the benchmark algorithms are not as complex as real algorithms in games are - but i think despite it's a good system benchmark, indeed better as sandra or similar benches.

The current version of ambix is the last of ambix86 c - this means the next ambix (d) results will not be comparable to the current results. This makes room for new benchmarks and new methods (for example there will be a better division of the overall result, not only int/mem/float), and possibly a nice win32 gui (but i also think about to make it dos-only for more exact results).

I will add some extra informations into the result.txt for a graphical comparision of different results - online :D.

But currently i would need more time to really develop ambix d.
