Why this settings: high multiplayer and low bclk, maybe need higher BCLK?

Just got two 990x this morning , will test it more for sure....This is just the first one ,this settings I newer tried before ( always going for higher bclk and lower multi) so this was the right time to try something new.... Will try higher bclk and lower multi also in next couple of days.....

great cpu mhz:up: not to mean negative but with Gigabyte X58-OC, i only see validations. This mabo is mhz validation mabo sth ? i am seeing many topics but validation, no other benchmarks etc ? please Perica_Barii show us some benchmarks with that setup it should have a lot to show :up:

isn't higher multi is better in many benchmarks because of decreased latency? but that is what i hear, i have no proof. I would think that higher blck would yield better bench scores.

Great run! I just got done washing my OC in the sink. I messed up a batch of Dragon Skin and trying to get it off now.

Not every toilet paper will work! You should meticulously choose a proper one. The one with flowers and teddy bears on it certainly works, this bears woud gain you addition 100-200MHz! Flowers only about 50MHz.

Could you tell us how each retail 990x did in your testing as well? That'd be interesting to see. :up:

Only two processors , this I tried first....Will try it on SS today to see how it goes with triple or dual channel memory, and how high I could expect NB to be, then again on Ln2 and some 3D damage I hope...After that I will test the other one. I didn't binned processors , got a lucky hand I guess... :)

yea i know, i am still learning how those processors that do great on air can do terrible under LN2 and visa versa.

I am guessing its a very high leakage CPu for a retail counterpart.

Even when settings go wrong and crashed, system still booting at full POT of LN2 ( last pictures).Thermometer was not calibrated right (temp was lower at least 10 C ).

Tomorrow will get more LN2 ( got only one dewar 20l in here , spend half of it on cpu No1 and other half on this one, got to go more than 120km to fill it up.So tomorrow hope to start some 2D benching.....

Crazy that u have such a freakin awesome retail and such a freakin awesome ES Chip :D lucky hands man!

Spend some time on spi32m and spi 1m ( 1.78v set for CPU ) with 4.85Ghz on NB CB was on -130 ( later when i lower bclk for piFast and NB on 4.65 CB was -140) , CBB also went from -107 C to -116 C....Spi 32m got stuck in 10th loop on that clock and voltage at -128 C ...Will try CPU for higher spi1m later , magic border on this CPU for spi32m is around 6.2Ghz in my opinion ....

PiFast done with 1.82v on cpu , temp -133 C ( CB with triple channel around -140 , got to play more with vpll and vtt to find the best combination) on same voltage I could do 6600Mhz PiFast but went to CB and drop the result,after that restart first memory slot was full of water , few attempts to get back on benching but no results and I finished....

Retail chip I did try but nothing special , around 6.2 GHz for 3dmark05 and only 5.8 for 3dmark06(HT ON ) , high NB on both 4,8GHz+ didn't bother to try Vantage....Both results with 1.78v on CPU and -155 C...

Thats a crazy big difference for a CPU what u can Validate at nearly 7G ...

our old F-Batch 980X was able to run 6600 in 3DMark05 and Validate arround 6.7G

What about trying Dual Channel in SPi1M and getting somewhere around 6,5G ?

Gulftown Retail Chips clocks a lot worst in SuperPi than in any other Benchmark.

Just the old A0 ES Chips where great for SuperPi on LN2

go dual or single channel and full pot :D
