Info for those in Hawaii:
http://www.weather.gov/ptwc/index.php?region=2
I can also link to radio scanner for Hawaii (Big Island) for police, fire and ems if interested as they are prepping for a tsunami as well.
Horrible looking :(
The Air Force Base near Tokyo is fine, have not been in contact with either of the other two AF bases here or the navy/army camp. Can update when I have more info.
Major disaster!
lets hope casualties will be minimum!
cars, houses, PCs, etc can be build from the beginning...
our loved ones can't!
Hope everyone including mia is okay...
Just saw the footage... Speechless really... My thoughts and best hopes go with those affected.
Does anyone have access to EarthCORE BIOS? Maybe we should disable subduction and shut down plate tectonics for now... The setting is proving rather unstable...
Our prayers are with all Japan and surrounding area folks!
Prayers to all those effected.
Hmm I was just watching a doc on the 1st nuke used in japan, got done with that and went online and found out about the news...
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/
Btw, there were some activity on the east coast of the usa as well.
But those aren't on the maps anymore for some reason.
The earthquakes are effecting what is essentially the ring of fire and the mountains in the usa, west coast.
Mainly in California, Hawaii, and Japan (Nippon) at the moment.
Oh and peru is getting hit hard as well it looks like in the mountains ^^.
Alaska as well..
There's activity all over the place....
There's some mountains in Arkansas getting hit, note there are no known volcano's there..., that's all I looked for at the moment, I didn't look for fault lines in the usa...
Also note, lots of methane hydrate gas ice sheets around japan's ocean area supposedly...
Getting maps of such info doesn't seem to be the easiest thing but I have seen a few.
I worry about the gas sheets by California and japan the most... ^^
I've seen a few vids of the japan stuffs, man oh man that's one heck of a disaster ^^.
Edit;
The reason why I looked up the gas ice sheets is because of the Edgar Cayce stuff...
I told my mom about the earth quakes so I had to sit with her for an hour showing her maps and so on... :\
It looks kinda serious if you look at the maps...
Hopefully it's nothing, a few years from now (3 maybe) and well be in da clear lol.
Stay away from the beaches, i read the tsunami going as far as New Zealand, Philipines, Hawaii etc
Let's pray no one is caught in further aftermath
About 10mins ago Hawaii had a 2.7.
About 40mins ago japan had a 5.5.
Edit: Japan had another 5.4 just 23 mins ago... :\
You can refresh the map list about every half hour and see a handful listed...
World list, 2.5+: (excludes lower)
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...quakes_all.php
Usa list, 1+:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...quakes_all.php
From the looks of it a volcano will go off on the main island of hiwaii, that's what looks like is gonna happen...
Not in the norm anyways if you understand...
I hope they can get those oil refinery fire's out in japan and I hope that most of the people aren't hurt.
Looks like some of there food was taken out too.
Among other lots of things.
:(
:(8.9 ...
Google earth shows you an updated list of the quake pos'es.
Around japan though, and only japan, it does not show you any of the "1000's" of others in the past week.
But anyways you can see the 7.1 and the 8.9 pos in that.
Wish I had more info's but I don't, I don't normally go looking for realtime graphs or anything on quakes :\.
Has anyone see vid's of the buildings swaying back and forth?
Supposedly they were rocking pretty hardcore like...
there were some on that live link to aljazeera that yonton posted... a Japanese film crew inside their studio that's all I have seen in that regard...
Most of the footage that I have seen is tsunami activity/damage, burning highrise buildings, burning refineries...
from what I have been hearing there is more damage to come from waves that are heading else where across the ocean...
my thoughts go out to those affected by this...

For those interested.

If there is one country that is the most earthquake prepared its Japan.
Miahallens location says northern Japan...
Everyone should check out the helicopter live feed, otherwise it's impossible to understand.
The tsunami will cause far more damage and loss of life than the earthquake itself.
waves about to hit Indonesia in 30 minutes....
Makes sence given the past stuff, at least from what I'm getting for results on google.
But so far nothing relevant to what's going on right now to the wave tracking.
Where did you get your info or is it an educated guess ?
Edit:
Found this but that's it for the moment.
http://www.jma.go.jp/en/tsunami/
it is not so much the rich countries like usa and japan etc. that i worry about but the poor ones that dont have the resources to prepare/rebuild
Not sure if this one is true....
"11.22am: Japan has declared a "nuclear emergency" as attempts to cool reactor at northern plant are 'not going as planned', NHK is reporting."
I'll check on its...
Edit:
So far I'm looking for the original page and so on...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42025882...s-asiapacific/
Also read it's gotten worse then what this page is saying and they can't get her cooled...
Still looking :\
One more edit:, it's real..., heard somewhere there's 2 of them but whatever... (nhk / nbc video below)
http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/vid...-plant/6cu8mgs
I had heard it off of aljazeera live link... they also displayed a time map of where the waves would be... i have been unable to find a link to show...
so far i have heard nothing else
in regards to the reactor...according to news..... the pumps that are used to cool the rods are unable to acquire the necessary water ...
Yeah something about not having power to cool it...
I was listening to the Hawaii feed a bit ago, there were setting up an lz, landing zone on a highway a bit ago, not sure why.
I closed that page a sec ago though because it was dead silent for a min or 2.
a friend of mine who lives in hawaii is saying that they are expecting 2m waves
finally got news from my family in Tokyo (Adachi-ku).
Everyone is well but still waiting to hear back from some other relatives that we've not been able to call. Mum was saying that this was the strongest quake she had ever experienced. Hope the Nuke stations are all under control and that everyone is safe.
Strongest ever in japan.
Just left there saturday.
Hope everyone is OK, this is not going to end well.
Hoping for a rapid recovery for those affected...
And I gotta agree, Japan is not just rich, they have well-prepared people too..
Here in the Philippines 1m. waves were expected to hit the eastern seaboard..
I am watching it here since the morning - I was like WTF?! when getting up and turning on the TV...it looked so horrible when the wave was rushing into the land with all the cars, boats and even houses swimming with it.
also the damages seems to be really heavy in some regions. I really hope all of our friends are fine and could find a save place.
Fukushima is a boiling water reactor. Japan is about 50/50 BWR/PWR. I've heard that the emergency was declared prematurely and there are no problems but it could just be all of the confusion. We probably won't know if there was truely an emergency or not and how bad it is for the next day or two. It likely a complete mess on the other side of the pond.
Here's some video clips of the tremors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KQ2-gTqFfA
Sad news, hope we can get good news from the many Japanese legends that they along with families are unharm.
Supposedly the waves that hit Indonesia are only a few cm's high.
However it's not over yet, they are waiting it out to see what happens.
Also note there were several after shocks, several quakes past 5.x after that 8.9 so...
In 2 hours? probably from now they should reach Hawaii.
Most of the damage was north of tokyo.
But supposedly there were a few fires there in tokyo.
The oil refinery fire thing is still going on I guess.
Looked like there's also an oil tanker out there that was caught in the tsunami.
As for the nuke plant, I heard 2 of them had cooling probs, but the live news says 1 plant.
And from what I've heard, just a min ago, it's still an ongoing issue.
A few of there other nuke plants auto shutdown.
At least one of the main railways is stopped, not sure if that is working now or not.
The airport in tokyo is shutdown and they are directing traffic to a military base I heard.
It's one huge mess over there in japan/nippon :(.
7th largest quake in recorded history, largest in the last 300 years supposedly.
It gets me wondering, I hope there isn't any old ww2 subs with mercury canisters still in them near japan...
The german sub that was found near new york is already leaking mercury all over the place...
An good sized earth quake certainly wouldn't help that...
^^, :\
I wish they would clean that :banana::banana::banana::banana: up, and find that darn 2nd stage plutonium core by thule air force base..
:shakes:
I pray for all people involved. :(
My Prayers goes out to everybody in Japan who has suffered this horrible event :( , Fugger rdrash (Matt) its safe as he moved to the States a couple of months ago , We need some information on Miahallen , The Mojo family (PcCI2iminal) , Team Japan and all the guys over there to see if they need help and if we can be of any help to let us know , so sad very sad indeed :(.
For those who have not watch the news heres a link with video from ABC News of what happened
http://abcnews.go.com/
Angelo
Wow. I really don't know what to say to this, but I hope that all and sundry are ok.
Looking at all the recent happenings across the globe, the end times are near?
just heard from my cousins parents in tokyo.. they are safe but they said its the strongest quake they have ever felt. lots of damage around where they live.
This is truly sad. :(
My prayers go out to everyone affected by this horrible natural disaster.
im just speechless at what is being shown on tv right now.. ! Feel so helpless... :(
Pray to all people suffering in Japan.
It hurts.
The member of KATANA is safe.
However, the damage of the northeast in Japan is severe.
A bit offtopic but I will have a go :) ...
Mayan?/aztec? mentions this age being the age of earth quakes supposedly.
Shiva/hindu/buddah(tripple goddess, etc(greek fates, etc)) religion also has a calender simuler to the mayan/aztec one, I haven't took a look at it much though.
But it does say something about it being an age of evil or something I don't know exactly what's it's called, it's supposedly when people's hate peaks and so on.
The way I look at it.
This being an age of earthquakes supposedly..., peru last year had the big one.
Now japan.
Given that was in 2010, in 2012 we'll complete the galactic cycle (a galactic year) and our solar system will be right next to a black hole in the middle of our galaxy (happens every 10, 12 or 15k years or something, I don't know the exact # off the top of my head).
So I assume by 2015 the worst will be over given the info we have on our recent past, earth quake wise.
As for polar shift stuff, that I have no clue.
Supposedly it's supposed to be dramatic when it does happen, but this I haven't done any research on.
One doc I watched said it was supposed to be dramatic baised on sand sediments or something.
The only thing I'm worried about, mass melting of those gas ice sheets in the ocean will cause major increases in temps...
That would really suck.
If such a thing happened, all ice caps would melt.
Causing big increases in water levels, essentially saying good bye to the east coast of the usa and so on.
And probably flooding all the way to michigan where I live, instead of a glove looking thing it might look like a buch of small islands in the future.
That's my guess.
What I really worry about, is extreme temps increases or decreases.
Both are bad.
If we get another ice age, which is very doubtful, then you could say goodbye to a ton of plant life, and sustaining the human pop. would be quite hard without large scale hydroponics or aeroponics...
At the moment though, all I think will happen is a few more big earth quakes like today.
And hopefully nothing more eh ;).
Anyways my heart goes to the people of nippon (japan).
I wish I were there to help.
Now, a telephone and the Internet are downed from Tokyo on the north.
Miahallen prays his safety which lives in the northeast.
12cm recorded rise in tide here in Taiwan from the Japanese tsunami so no harm done here. Stay strong Japan.
although away from the epicenter shook a lot here where I live ..I'm watching the news on television
Saw a vid. on youtube with a comment about Japan being HAARP'd, i just LOL'd..
But this is a serious matter..
And those nukes we're talking about, I hope they're the ones nearest the epicenter - which is now reported to have been shut down, 4 of em.
Source
What an insane destruction, this is a terrible natural catastrophe. Please take care of yourselves! Thanks to all the informants here, much aprreciated. Let's hope the nuclear power plants will stay under control. :(
What a mess! I hope and pray that they are doing ok over there... :(
This is part of it, look at all of the global events - not just natural disasters. It's difficult not to bring politics into this but I'll try by not mentioning countries' names. Look at all the war on "terror" going on. Look at the unrest in third world countries. The verge of civil war. Religious or not, things are falling together and it's scary.
It's a proper catastrophe  The earthquake, the waves, the reactor... the horror :(
Wishing you guys best of luck! I hope everyone is safe. The news gave me the creeps, and my a$$ is far away, in the safety of Europe... I don't even think what it would have been like to face those waves in person
What you describes has happened many times before, and are most likely bound to happen again. Society are always changing, and sometimes it takes some effort to change it to the better. There are no instant recipe for world wide peace, but I think we are moving in the right direction.
My sympathy goes to all affected by this natural disaster.
I found out about it by accident when researching the greek? looking temples at balbek (around 10,000 years old I guess).
When doing a little researching on balbek I accidently came across rudra, rama, sita, sarasvati, etc etc.
Anyways I found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kali_Yuga
The years lengths have to be incorrect...
It's alot like the years mentioned in the book of kings from sumuria, 1000 year old kings my butt....
I'de post my history findings but I'de be getting way off topic.
History is so cool..., but so hard to dig through :\.
Agreed
Saw this right before I went to bed last night, very scarry to see the wave moving accross the land. They said people had 10 minutes warning before that wave came rolling in.
I do not think where I live (central calif) if I had 10 minutes warning right after a big shake hit I could get very far. To many people would be trying to hit the roads all in shock after the quake.
I hope to God that Miah is okay. It just occurred to me that he's there. I tried calling him and it just kept ringing. :(
very sad news,im praying for our fellow members and all involved.
btw, taiwan is hooked up to the international backbones through japan, at least partly...
internet has been acting weird all day, lots of interrupted connections and super slow connections to non local sites...
Jebus, heard about this quake on the radio at work. I hope everyone is fine.
Anyone knows something about the Kobe/Ōsaka area?
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Japan.
Wikipedia now updated:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_magnitude_scale (mentioned in the magnitude table)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Se...ke_and_tsunami (main article)
For now I can exhale a sigh of relief amidst the devastation. A friend of mine who's a teacher in Osaka is fine, so is his family.
My Japanese geography is very poor, so I had to pull a map to check where the city actually is.
I hope many more friends and relatives of those who were in harm's way and now are unaccounted for receive the same kind of good news soon.
... It's something that really leaves you thinking how insignificant the human being is for nature ...
I hope the best for all the people victim of this disaster ...
i know that PcCI2iminal is okay ... so one more user from XS giving us hope that we hear from all Japan users soon ...
Jeez... i just can't believe this happened ... :x
I have a good friend over there, he said on facebook "scared but safe" - hope everyone else on here is safe as well.
Saw all the disaster happening live on TV! Pretty scary stuff. I'm hoping casualties will be kept to a minimum... :( One of my dearest friends lives in Osaka and we exchanged a couple of emails and thankfully he and his family are allright but he said stuff are a bit chaotic over there. Considering this is Japan we're talking about this event is a MAJOR disaster!
I know it might sound a bit too cold to mention it now but the economic catastrophe could be as bad if not worse then those caused directly by the earthquake and tsunami.
Japan has A LOT of money invested pretty much everywhere in the world and they certainly would need that very same money back to reconstruct the country after a Big One like this one happens. At least that's what I heard numerous times over the years and it makes perfect sense.
Edit: @p2501: like MrToad said Osaka is "fine" but my friend told me that there were power/communications/public transportantion failures on that area.
was there an earthquake i didn't hear of? I heard about the 7.2, but it sounds like an 8.9 came?
btw it sounds likecalifornia oregon and washington are about to feel the tsunami
oil price increase
Hope everyone's safe. Take care guys.
For the first time in a long time, I was up until 4 watching this on cnn/msnbc (won't touch fox news anymore...). Really terrible. The video of the wave just taking out all was heart-breaking. I hope that Japan's earthquake preparedness saved lives. Looked rather impossible to live through some of those videos. :(
The newscasters were asking the same questions over and over, just in different words. It's what made me turn it off in the end.
checking in from honolulu. seems we got lucky with 2ft sea level rise here. other islands reporting 7ft up to maybe 12ft. but the sun just came up now so we will find out the damage real soon.
Thanks、all guys.
Me, Gyrock lives in Yokohama is safe.
All trains around Tokyo were down until 23 o'clock. But anyway, I managed to get home now...
The earthquakes were horrible even here in Yokohama, 400km far from Miyagi, where the earthquake happened...
All I can do now is to pray for them all living there...
I've just looked at the Wiki page for the quake, link, major props to all countries who've offered aid. It gives me hope for the human race.
Sent from my Nokia 6680 (best phone ever, it just keeps going) using Opera Mini ;)
Damn, hope everyone is okay, was just hearing about it on the news :X hope everyone is okay and their family's
To those that have checked in i am glad your well. I hope a few more check in soon:up: Lets hope all are well;)
Yikes, I'm hoping for minimal casualties for our Japanese friends. Infrastructure will be rebuilt.
According to this - http://ptwc.weather.gov/ptwc/text.ph...1.03.11.163801 - the tsunami, at least, doesn't look that bad :)
Well that sucks. A huge Earthquake followed by a Tsunami.
I hope everyone is safe and can get in contact with friends and family.:)
Hopes and prayers for all affected
BBC news is reporting that the effects of the tsunami around the rest of the Pacific seem limited...... Here's hoping!
Crazy earthquake
Nice to hear Katana members are alright :)
Hoping to hear from Miah soon.
My condolences and best wishes go out to Japan and the people of Japan.
This is truly a sad day :(
My hopes are with you all.
John
Watching the news all day of the horrible tsunami destroying everything that comes into its way really made me realize how lucky I am living in a place on the earth that is neither prone to earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes (yet at least, who knows how it'll look like in future with the climate changes etc).
Is there any easy way to donate some money over the internet to help affected people in Japan? I'm just a student but I don't mind donating at least a little, if many people do it it'll be helpful in any case.
ConanOBrien Conan O'Brien
Japan needs our help. Go here to donate to @redcross disaster relief: http://bit.ly/eZJDoJ
Such sad news, my thoughts are with the people of Japan :(
