GIGABYTE E350N-USB3, who is your daddy

I had a play with this new board today. Wanted to see if it overclocks lol. It sure does but it will get toasty particularly because you have to really jack up voltage hard to scale with Mhz, at least on this chip heheheh

Idle and load (video encoding 5x 1080p 60fps videos into low res MP4)

not sure if this info will be interesting to anyone but this platform at stock did this encode time in about 12 minutes while stock 655K i5 does it in 4.5 minutes and sandy bridge at 1.3minutes heh not that many would use it for such purpose. I am going to make this sucker into my new internet machine how good is it.......love it. Just have to find a newcase, something small :D

Very nice power numbers. Looks like it would make a great Server/HTPC/Surfing box!

A couple questions if ya don't mind.
Why 2 sticks of ram, it doesn't support dual channel does it?
The other big one is, does the bios actually support overclocking or did you have to do it through the OS...

heatsink should be horizontal so air can go thru the fins...

that little fan is not loud at all, in fact i couldnt hear it over my normal machine but i would rip it out and fit a bigger slow moving fan anyways in there as once dust starts crippling those little :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:s they get whiney

Now Gigabyte board can clock it up , surely I will get Gigabyte E-350 instead of ASUS :)

Seems like it's slower then a socket 754.
Maybe it's the mem timings.

Nice board, has dual bios on an mitx :D.
And it has overclocking support in the bios, nice :).

The only thing I don't like about it, is that it needs a slandered atx psu.
I'de prefer the 12/16/24v dv jack on the back of the board for a smaller casing.

I prefer to have 16x pcie of course.
But I'de also like to see a mini pcie slot as well beside it for wireless cards.
Still a nice little board though.

So stock bus is at 100, what is the stock speed on these chips? (Cpu-z was less than informative).

1600 MHz, maybe with better cooler he can go at 1.45V and higher OC.

I cant make up my mind whether to buy one of these when available or wait for llano, I really need to change my 24/7 rig which adds far too much to the power bill for a pauper like me ;)

Currently using an Intel G41 mATX, E5200, HD 5670, two 120mm fans and two 3.5" 1TB drives so going Zacate and using the onboard vga would use about a third (I think :confused:) of the power I'm currently using

stock system is 1600Mhz guys but this board automatically has it running at 2000 assuming CPUz is reading it right. There is no multi change in bios just HTT and you can also OC the video card which i will get around to as well soon

i will also look into underclocking and undervolting as well but it would be better if i had a lower wattage PSU lol


talk about the power bill the electricity cost friggin skyrocketed here dude its nuts

oh btw i used a corsair HX620 PSU so probably not the most efficient PSU to use for such a lower power consumption system and those figures are probably going to get even lower with one of those 150W pico things

For sure building a custom cooler/mount for mine when it comes.

OC is not about low wattage power :-D. Hope, we will see next benchmarks :). Its at hwbot?:) 2 new points for you :).

Since you're the first guy I've seen with one, I have to ask a stupid question.

How was the performance at stock vs OC'd? Just doing stuff in windows I mean. My atom nettop is ungodly slow at times and I'd consider this, but obviously change out the heatsink!

why does one cpuz say 1.36v and the other 1.65v?

think, its only some bug...I had on my i7 980x in win7+RAmpage III Extreme about 11V :-D (in CPU-Z of course)

my cpu is 3.3v according to OCCT, lol

that would put it a 1880mhz and it's stock speed is only 1.6ghz not a very big OC ?

I believe the bus is ok. There's a very standard way to measure bus frequency.
Multiplier on the other hand may be different for every processor generation. And after looking at the documentation, it is certainly different compared to previous AMD CPUs.

be sweet to see how it does with some cool aftermarket air coolers on it.

probably just need a good one for the fusion chip not the I/o hub chip.

40mm fans just dont do the job, much better to use two 60mm fans :up:

it's pretty fast at super pi next to K10 CPU's if it's only running 1886mhz.. :) (not faster, but around as fast)

I keep checking SaticICE every few days in the hope one of these babies will show up but nothing yet :(

I'm soooo eager to get my hands on one of these boards too!

But performance-wise, how does this sexy peace of hardware compare to an old, custom built AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (single core, mind you!) with only 1 gig of RAM for every-day use, such as browsing the web and office-applications?

I'm thinking it might just be as good if not slightly faster since the new board comes with better graphics, dual core CPU AND more RAM.
What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are it looks fun, can't wait to torture the board i won.

Heh, if it survives torture it may end up getting massaged into my PS3's case using all my PS3's hardware if i can figure the pinout's on the bluray player and convert it.

Getting ever so frustrated with cooking that thing everytime it dies.

These things should all come with a bluetooth remote though, that would put the nail in the coffin for me as far as my PS3 goes.

That is correct.

Also if my sources are accurate and they usally are. Voltage scaling the CPU part yields small gains, gpu on the other hand will be a different story.

I pulled my stock cooler off. now that's a 3 piece part, I polished all the surfaces off and sanded them flat... I managed a further drop on my temps by 10 degrees Celsius, of and do not forget tu use some good paste if you can't get a hold of some indigo and a fan forced oven

how come I v=can't make mine go over 125? do I need to hex edit the bios to unlock it?

ok, after running this thing at 1.9 for the last two weeks the board seems to be doing fine, any way to push it beyond 125? Bios wont let me though.
