Have just got my MaximusIV-Extreme and i wanted to know whats the latest bios! Currently on bios 0406!
I'm using the latest ''official'' one: 0901.
Everything is working fine, except Windows update messing my Win 7 install by installing ''ACS-6xxx'' drivers, confusing the NEC USB3 and Marvell SATA6 drivers with those. It was a mess. 2 hours of black screen of death, until reading somewhere how to get rid of it. :(
Now everything is fine. Just be careful when installing Windows Update. Be sure to NOT install, and also ''hide'', any ACS-6xxx updates or drivers. There is NO ACS-6xxx component on our board. Windows update is confused.
Thanks mate on 0901 now! Have found newer one to 0951!
Loving this board alot better than my old MSI P67A- GD65 5Ghz Cas6 2232Mhz 6-10-6-27 1T 1.7v

you could post a basic configuration for 4800/5ghz bios?
After hours of stability testing (and gaming), I now have my 24/7 settings with my i7 2600K and Asus Maximus IV. Temps never goes over 60 on high-load (Prime, LinX).
4900 Mhz (49X100) @ 1.35v. Great little chip.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1635578
-Vcore = 1.35v
-Intel PLL overvolting = Auto
-VRM Frequency = 350
-Phase Control = Extreme
-Duty Control = Extreme
-LLC = 75%
-Manual RAM timings
Everything else is at auto.
I could probably push it alot more, but for now I'm happy. I was able to do 51X100 at 1.39, but didn't try to go higher:) Have things to do. Will try harder next week-end. Great little motherboard.
A amazing board for Clocking memory!

Amazing chip/dimms you mean :D
Lucky bastards ... I gotta wait until march/april to get my board ... in the mean time all my new parts are sitting around doing nothing :( At least I got something to look forward to though :)
What ivy bridge!LOL
is any place still selling these?
You can find out how the bios was set to 5ghz?
5.1 (51X100) rock-stable at 1.42v. Was able to play Borderlands 4 hours in a row without any problems at 5.1! :)
-HT ON! Temps are good!
-Intel PLL overvoltage OFF
-LLC Max (100%)
-VRM freq = 350
-Phase Control = Extreme
-Duty Control = Extreme
-RAM settings manual
Everything else on Auto.
I have to work, but tonight I will try pushing it to 5.4. :)

Pll overvoltage off at 51x?That is a very good chip, stop primming and go test it srsly with some benches ;)
Just before going to work, I was able to try 5.2 (52X100) at the same 1.42v, but got an error in Prime after 50 minutes. :( Not a BSOD, just 1 error on 1 thread.
But now I must work. :(
Now surfing and typing this message at 5.4 (54X100) @ 1.48 with Intel PLL overvoltage OFF! :)

I'm not a die-hard OCer, so I'm not confortable going over 1.5v... :(
@levesque, might not be a die hard ocer but man that chip is real nice! 5.4 @1.4 :D
I was able to boot at 5.5 (55X100) @ 1.48, PLL overvoltage OFF, but got some errors after 3 minutes in Prime. But I'm ''afraid'' to go over 1.5v. I'm a sissy. :(
Wondering if this has the vcore problem limit like some Asus mobos do? Need to know if it can do over 1.54v.
Only have to disable voltage monitoring in uefi to get rid of the bios error message.
In MivE bios boot option disable hit 'F1' button.."
Just testing my max Bclock with a different bios 0951
Up to 107Bclock!

Got my Maximus IV Extreme and 3 GTX 580's plus a GTS 450 for physx....This system will all be watercooled...so before I connect all the 580's into the motherboard I want to know if I can run Triple SLI + Physx on this board...I will also be running a OCZ Revodrive X2 on the bottom 4x PCIe slot...Been searching the web, but have found no answer yet..and the manual does not really say..
-M
If you have the board have you looked at it? With 3 580s you won't be using a Physx card or the Revo. No place to put them.
Card # 1 in the first PCIE x16 slot will cover up the PCIe x1 slot.
Card #2 in the second PCIe slot will cover up the the #3 PCIe x16 slot.
Card #3 in the forth PCIe x16 slot will cover up the PCIe x4 slot.
No..as I said...I am watercooling all the GTX 580's....I have removed the stock heatsink and fans and replaced them all with Danger Den 580 waterblocks which are single slot...so I do have the slots available..
-M
Might be wise to test the configuration before installing all the watercooling. Might not be enough PCIe lanes to both fill all the native slots and have something left to feed the NF200.
afaik u can only run 3 cards on maximus IV regardless of gpu being single slot.
question does anybody here have this strange hmm reboot/reset issue when clocking dram multi 21.33 with bclk above 103.
example after i set it. test it. confirm stable.
if i off my computer.
and on it
it will run the bios code to 79. then shutdown and then restart with everything working pretty.
cstkl1
Thanks for the info on the 3 cards...I will move forward with the 3 580's, Revodrive X2 in the 4x slot and the Xonar Essense STX in in the 1x slot...
-M
Hey i said afaik.. please recheck on this.

Abit high cpu temps!AVX really does hammer temps!
Does any know if there is any beta bios newer than 0089!
@cstk, u using the latest bios? the maximus should pass 2133 quite easy really the only board which does it with a breeze imo.. Bump vtt to around 1.25 and bump your sys agent up a tiny bit..
After 2 days of tweaking my system, everything was working fine... but I just noticed something strange. I have an AMD TRI-Fire set-up, ATI 5970 (2 GPU on 1 card) and 5870, so 3 GPU total. I'm using PCIE_X16__1 (first slot on top) and the third PCIE_X8_3 slot. Never had any problems with that set-up on my X58 board. Rock-stable.
Am I using the good slots? No matter what I do, my 5870, sitting in the 3rd slot stays at 0% activity and VDDC current always at 0A, idling at 137/300. Temp never move from 21 celsius. It is properly detected by the bios has an ATI card at 8X, properly detected in Win7, Catalyst drivers says Crossfire is enabled... but it always stays at 0% activity when playing games or benchmarking (Furmark Multi-GPU). GPU-Z says Crossfire Enabled for the 5970 but disabled for the 5870. ??? But working at 137/300?
Do I have to use those slots for Tri-Fire, or different one, since it's Tri-Fire and not Crossfire.? Should I be using the NF200 chip since it's Tri-Fire and not Crossfire?
I also plugged the 2 molex Easy_Plug. But I just lost 4 hours installing and re-installing ATI drivers, reseating cards, etc. Tried Catalyst 10.10, 10.11, 10.12 and 11.1. Enabling disabling ULPS. Cleared CMOS, removed the battery. Reflash BIOS. Arrggghhh. I even tried the Tri-Fire set-up back on my X58 board and it's working properly. But not on the P67!?!? 137/300, VDDC current 0A, nothing else. :(
Anyone have a clue?
lol whole world looking for this board and malaysia u can get it easy
Nice 5.3Ghz 1.47 in bios Vantage run!Still abit more tweaking to do!
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...-10-6-271T.png
i reread what u wrote
ure obviosuly telling me how to clock my ram high..
dunno y i keep laughing on this statement.
its obvious wasnt about the double post issue
bro2k are u having this issue on high bclk high dram clock.
when shutdown.. it does a double post on stable clocks..
Finally got 5Ghz 2133Mhz Cas6 stable Key was memtest 4.50 for sandy!
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...6-9-6-271T.png
hmm interesting johnny
tested three low vcore 2600K's
they need more Vccio for 2133. from 1.1 to 1.2v
funny the high vcore procs need way less.
Guys, quick question about this board. Im thinking of picking one up this weekend, but just wondering, does it support dual 16x PCI-E in 2 card SLI mode? I know it has the NF200 chip, so initially I just presumed it would, but having looked at the asus website, the specs arent 100% clear. Im having a hard time choosing between this board and a UD7, so this could be a deciding factor for me!
definitely supports 2 @16 mike and if 3 its 1 @16 and 2 @8x, it just shows disabled in gpuz when in sli with 580gtz x 2 but its working deffo, its basically same setup as the ud7 , you'll like the sandies mike makes my x58 rig seem slow i've my sandie at 5ghz 24/7 at only 1.4 volts
Cool, thanks for confirming that Glenboy... thats kinda made my mind up... the sweet EFI bios on this board has put it ahead of the UD7 for me :)
yeh they are both good boards i like asus but got the ud7 as max not available then, i'm really happy with the sandy lets hope you get lucky with a good cpu with the sandies its all about the frequency wall rather than overclocking skill we have acquired over the years mike :hehe:, first sandy i had needed a lot of vcore but it died, 2nd one which iam using runs warm but does not need a lot of vcore 1.4v (1.38) under load linx stable 5ghz and the replacement cpu was crap wouldn't hold 5ghz stable so its a bit of a lottery with cpu's
Well, hopefully I get a good one right out the door, would love to get somewhere between 4.8 + 5.0ghz 24/7 if poss. When I first went skt 1366 I went through ALOT of 920's to find a really good one LOL! Hopefully im lucky enough not to have to go through that again!
yeh mike the batch codes mmean nothing with these sandies same batch code i have one needed 1.65++ to run 5300+ mhz and this one needs 1.5 , accordingly the c batch ones are better, i only have 4gb of ram in the sandy setup and with the shear processor speed its plenty so might be worth keeping 2 sticks of your existing ram mate , to save you a few quid ,
Interesting about the batches not really having any consitency... guess it really is luck of the draw this time. Ive been considering keeping the ram actually as I can always grab another 4gb dom GT kit at some point if I need to bump up to 8gb, just wasnt sure how the IMC on sandy does with 4 sticks?
i don't know with 4 sticks but i have ram t=rated at 1.65volt not really sandy ram and it'll run all day long at 2133 at 7-10-7-26 at lowish volts 1.6 , so personally i'd keep your ram as its good , i have a matrix orbital lcd display on my comp shows ram load and its never got close to using the 4gb , the sandy bridge is first thing i have bought as upgrade since 2009 :D

no diff so far
maybe this bios is the one that solves the 3d01 bug??
wth is the dram cfg??
Less mem setting with this new bios! Seem abit better with my mem to!
Even has newer 1090:

:D
No official bios say what last tested and reliable?
So does that mean it only runs dual card SLI in 8x 8x mode then, despite the NF200 chipset? Not that it matters now, ive ordered one and its on the truck for delivery monday! LOL!
owikh84 - thanks for posting those results. Looks like it can handle 4 dimms pretty well :)
Single card (PCIe slot 1) - x16 speed
Dual cards (PCIe slots 1 and 3) - x8 speed but no added latency from NF200
Triple cards (PCIe slots 1, 2 and 4) - PCIe slot 1 at x8 speed and PCIe slots 2, 4 (through NF 200) at x16 speeds
Fair enough... does seem strange to add an NF200 chip and not use it for dual card SLI, although im guessing they factored in the latency and decided better performance comes from using 8x 8x native than 16x 16x NF200.
New bios 1090 is alot better with my G.skills!

Nice job there bro20000. Thats a nice chip - 5ghz @ 1.36v is pretty sweet!
I can do 54X100 (NO change to BCLK) at 1.48v in BIOS (1.50 in CPU-Z). :) I think alot of 2600K are around those values, and the Maximus IV is helping alot here. Don't like playing with BCLK. :)
So my 2600K can do all those different settings (stability tests all passed). It can help others know what to aim for. :)

Well, my Maximus Iv arrived today, and boy does it look sweet :D Got a 10 day wait before I can get it all set-up though... thats gonna be a long 10 days :(
I have finished my Maximus IV Extreme build...Flipped the switch yesterday and...all was great.....except one issue.
The Revodrive X2 that I have in the bottom PCIe 4x slot is only running at half speed (400MB read in ATTO) vs the advertised (740MB Read). Will not be back in town until Friday  SO I will have to wait to start overclocking this beast until then, but was hoping someone might have some ideas why it is only running at half speed...I have been trying to think what the cause might be:
1.) PCIe Lanes are maxed??
2.) Bios issue with bandwidth in the 4x slot..
When I get back on Friday I plan on switching off a couple of the 580's to see if the Revodrive speeds up...that might tell me if it is a PCIe saturation issue...If not it might be a bios issue...I was also thinking of removing the Sound card from the 1x slot to see if that has any effect.
Thanks,
-M

My board will arrive tomorrow, any thoughts what's the best bios to start with so far ?
I looked into the same issue in my UD7 VS MIVE review here:
http://www.techreaction.net/2011/01/...of-the-titans/
Page 3 explores performance with the RevoDrive X2 in various configurations
Thanks...Great article!!
My issue is that I am running 3x gtx580....so the Revo can only go in the 4x slot....so far no updates from Asus or OCZ and for the time being I have replaced the Revodrive with a 4x Raid-0 64GB Micro Center Sandforce (Adata S599) drives...the result is amazing...

Ive been wondering the same thing. About to start my build in a couple of days :)
Hey guys, got my board up and running now and just having a quick play. LinXing 4.2ghz as wee speak. Have a couple of questions about bios options that I cant find lol. Firstly, seen a number of people recommend turning S3 off but cant find it. Secondly, Ive been looking for LLC but again I cant find it anywhere?
EDIT: wouldnt mind a bios recomendation either... currently on 1090 BETA which is the most recent I could find :)
Well, i found the LLC in the end! Anyhow, here are a couple of pics of my M4E build:

hmm new bios kindda suck on one thing
higher rtl and higher latency
checking now to see whether can go higher dram clock
so far 1090 is the best for me.
hmmm
RTL 35/36 2250 7-10-7-27
Bios 1090 VCCIO 1.075,VCSSA 0.975
Bios 1101 VCCI0 1.15 , VCCCA 0.925v
eh
conclusion to non b3 ppl
DONT FLash to this bios since u cannot roll back
further testing on this official bios
still preplexed.. looks like the imc got stronger and rtl got weaker.
Is the board going to be the exact package as the ones being sold in the US? If yes, I wonder how much shipping charge to the US. I want to place an order! It seems M4E is the OCing King right now for SB CPUs. :yepp:
Just checked and they don't have the M4E, though...they do have almost everything else.
eh did u just skip X58's and p55's??

SLI GTX580 is not working at PCIE X16/X8_1 and X8_3 but it worked on X16/8_1 and X16_2 (NF200)
I'm using Win7 x64 SP1, BIOS 1092 & 1101
I don't hv any other PCIE card except for these GTX580s, unused PCIE slots are switched off but seems not helpful though
Freshly installed Win7, GForce 263, 265, and 266.

So in your opinion, after some tweaking 1001 comes ahead of 1090?
Where can RTL be adjusted?
For those of you using hypers, I highly suggest red slots for low vdimm operation. I might add this is by no means a piece of cake.
1.76vdimm, red slots, bandwidth booster off ( no noticeable gains on other than less stable )
I have requested some more option in bios as far as ram goes, see how much better we can get the effec if possible.
Can you guys post full block of memory related and voltage related options in maximus bios?Thnks :) Currently contemplating a move from my biostar tp67 to maximus and trying to figure out if it's worth the price(triple than the biostar) :D
its not a dram issue per say.
but the other asus lineups wont be able to do this on linx, prime should be not a issue.
btw my rams are just above average. the best of the best are the 2k c6 6gb kits pairs.Mine is somewhere about the same as the 4gb kit pairs or 2400 c9 pairs.
Dunno why ppl dont read some of the stuff ive been writing about hunting older psc kits that are cheaper and are amazing.
the beauty part about p67. all results are reproducible on any proc. only diff is the vcore and cpu speeds
cooling limit
