Hi all,

today stummerwinter finally took an attack on my SandyBridge-Scores and gave me a lesson about how to run the new chip on 1m & 32m

From the screen shots, your 32M is running at 5.547 (not 5.347 as you posted above).

You running a higher frequency and still losing handily just shows more about SB. We've seen epic memory bandwidth numbers (SB will easily break MaxxMem WR), so I guess this influences SPi times even more than it did previously. It looks like you need to tighten those timings! 1600 9-9-9 isn't going to cut it, my friend!

Add a bit more juice for 5.6, Run higher Mem speeds too for better PI scores!

My windows seems to suck and I have a very strange issue with my pi-windows - the turbo won't work there and I don't know why. all other windows running fine, no downclocking or so but pi-windows will always run stock :confused:
oh and another info: 933 ram is possible on air for me but as soon as under single stage I need to go that low else system will hang up "63" :(

My Sandy is too hot for my BIG HR02 :D And unfortunetly I have no watercooling or SS atm so I use Ln2. CPU temp is around 33°~27° according to HWMonitor (P67 beta version) and bios, pot temp is between 5°~-3° (anything under will go :banana:) when I don't forgot to pay attention to it :)

Just hate that memspeed issue - my elpidas with that sandy are fail when going cold...PSC chips and others seem to run much better :( need to get some new sticks asap...

It was a long way to that 1m but I finally got it. And if you know that this is my 3D Windows with GPU drivers (as you can see in the pifast screenshot) there is more to come this night :D

I was running 2 cores at this point because I was able to boot 5595 for the first time with it (and could run a pifast which crashed during screenshot :mad: )

I am so fail @gaymark05 I acutally never tried it :shrug: :p: I don't like that bench and I am failing enough on getting ram 2100+ (can run it but much lower eff compared to 1866 good timings) so for the moment don't expect me running it ;)

2500K vs 2600K,does that 2MB L3 cache count?S-pi 1M and 32M related,2001 etc?i mean not huge diffences,just 0.030,0.015 in 1M,2-3sec in 32M?Or not at all :)?

That extra L3 Cache is for sure going to boost 32M a bit ;) Not sure about the rest though.

Thats under 2Mio PP...

When I see Boris 32M, maybe well tweaked, he had a 2,017Mio PP... thats a calculated 6m43 time at 5GHz. So I think 6m39 is very difficult, especially without tweaks.

But when you think 6m39 is possible, I will try it :D

I want to start a 5GHz lowclock challange in my home-forum and I just need a very well tweaked run as reference, to prevent and detect downclocking after SPI finished :up:

From my opinion Dinos and Pro both one of the best 32M tweaker's and their score's all with really good pp and well tweaked (most even untouchable).

I think that's a bit too fast for a windows that is not tweaked. I ran it on my pi windows and ~6min 44/43s without CDT and 6min 40s with CDT.
Hadn't a run with 6min 39s yet - but testing 7-10-7 now (what constantly fails due to me beeing a vccsa-:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: :p: )

But you are running 8-10-8-30 and from my testing (not with Sandy) trcd and trfc will give u a nice little boost...

So if you can do 6.43min with 8-10-8-30 i think 6.39min should be possible with 7-8-7-21 :)

tweaking timings is not that effective on sandy according to my tests. also tweaking timings sometimes can be hard depending on your ram - get's system unstable during 32m with fails in loop8-20. haven't tested my elpida with new bios yet, that's next.

€: my hypers still won't run 2133 even 9-9-9....instant freeze in 32m, tested all slots and combinations, lots of vccsa and io but not a single remarkable improvement.

any decent hyper should be able to do this, these are 2000C7

32m @ 3.6 np, working of efficiency. Im rusty, no where near you guys.

you guys are killing me with these chips, where the hell are you pulling them out of :D

why dont you try some colder temps mate and try get 5.7 32m runs to stick or close to it, if you are able to reach it there is a high probability you will be able to stabilise it to bench too :up:

Running chilled water now. Ill try SS later on.

Regarding chip, mine just came from my local pc store so it was just lucky I got a good one. Trust me I never get a good one.

Tough to crack that 6m barrier without a set of hyper. My mem is clocking like :banana::banana::banana::banana:, cant drop timings from 9-9-9, cant bump up to 21 div.

I think it's my UD9 that's messing with things. Three different chips (W3520, 950, 970) and I've never been able to pass 32M with the 10x multi above 1800MHz (can pass at 180x10 6-6-6). It freezes about 10 seconds in, no matter what (even with 2000 9-9-9). I know my W3520 was able to do it with my RIIIE.

I'm considering an RMA but I have Forum Warz coming up for OCN and I need a board for it, so I'll probably do it after.

do some testing at low clocks and clear cmos after every crash and start over or from F11 bios saves just to be sure no bad settings are still there

for me 1.22 or 1.24QPI/VTT with the right vdimm did the trick :up:

dont forget X58 boards tend to undervolt VTT a lot to what is set in bios, you might be vtt starved

1.5 is really 1.42 or something for example

EDIT: I haven't tried higher than 1.515V on my UD9 for 32M yet.

For instance, BCLK 200, memory 2000, and Uncore at 3200 fails 2000 9-9-9 with up to 1.5 VTT.

Dinos arent the gtx2's you mentioned PSC chips or is that the gtx4?? Mine cant hit cas7 @2k+

GTX2's are Hypers. I believe GTX3's and 4's are PSC's.

Most can't do over 5 gig with a 2500K, consider yourself lucky.

I am dragging my feet about sandy bridge. the 2500k is $179 at microcenter and then a jump to 2600k is 300.00.

with no real scale with xtreme cooling its been holding me back on a purchase. chew and I had a discussion about how this will level the playing field and this is going to be really competitive since a lot more people have h20 than ln2/dice. I just want the high i get from ln2 and seeing it scale. i miss the clarksdale days.

Still untuned win7 here, nice gains to be had tuning subs only.

After seeing more and more result with 2500k i realise mine is a rare one :D Here is some s-pi 1M,unfortunetly chip has a wall,it can do 5540 with 1.48 but it wont scale a mhz more with 1.52 for example.Will have to wait for improved asrock bios...

my chip is mentally challenged flanker what you see is it's max i can valid 5gig and prime 5 gig.

could only afford a single chip so it is what it is.

voltage is in screenie, high but ive been trying to kill it with no luck.
