This is my first build and yes i know its agressive but GO BIG OR GO HOME:)
seriously In a retired/legaly blind old car guy who needed a project and thought this would be cool. I spent the last 8 months studying the forums and coming up with ideas. SO here it is.

I'll be watching this as I am in the middle of a 700D build. Looks like you stripped the powdercoat from the case. how did you approach the removal of it?

I used a portable media blaster with 80 grit. I got mine at harbor Freight real cheap.

You can use 80 grit sand paper and rough it up real good. this will work also I'm just bit anal about painting.

I got the back door covered with carbon fiber sheet. I think it came out well better then I thought.

This looks promising! Is this your first build or just your first watercooled build?

The only thing I put together was an 800D with EVGA X58 LE, H50. i-7 920 & gtx260. no mods Its what I use as my every day desktop. I had help with that from my son and got hooked.

Received picture of my new plate for Aqua filter. Looks real good now needs anodized black Great job Bill:yepp::up:

I'm a bit conerned about the wiring for the 8-pin CPU connector ... you gotta get around that tubing *eek*

Otherwise, this looks to be a nice build, great block choice!

:rofl: Are you saying I can not go through it :rofl: Thanks for the comments I picked blocks I thought would go good with my build but some what differnt then everyone else. The MIPS block and the aqua Ram plex look good together and the Rasa block had good reveiws and had black mounting bolts a plus for me :up:

I wasn't saying it was impossible, I was just noting EVGA's decision to mount it there.

The Carbon vinyl is neither MNPCTECH or real. Its called DI-NOC carbon Fiber sheet by 3M I did see that Frozen is carrying it but I think its cheaper buying direct. I paid $90 USD for 48x36" pc. It is the best I have seen outside of the real stuff. It has a woven look and is textured. The biggy is all the other stuff i have seen is gloss this is a flat look wich is good looking.:clap:

Ahah the trunk and hood on this car are already real carbon, its actually not my ride though I just know the photographer. I just wish it was mine, minus the drifting battle scars ;)

Hi Matt I thought about powder coat then decided to paint since I striped the whole case to bare and primed it. The motherboard tray will be covered by Carbon sheet.

Go for the purple. I have the same mobo (X58 SLI LE) laying around and I plan on putting it in the 800D after I do the MM build. I had planned on purple coolant, white tubing, and black and purple MDPC-X sleeve.

Dirt track racing? Ever get down to bridgeport? When the wind is blowing right I can hear the races every Saturday night.

CLOSETREDNECK Thanks I have the purple sleeve with black but ha vent started as of yet. If you don't have a dark back drop for the purple it looks pinkish.
Hey I discovered something today I wanted a little more room in the bottom compartment of my 800D so I purchased a Lian Li power supply extender. It slides the power supply out the back about 2 1/2 inches.
MY XSPC360 rad is just shy of 16" and the left over power supply about 8" TOTOL 24" with the extender the space adds up to 25 1/2 inches. We could put a triple in the bottom bay. It looks like if you slide the rad all the way to the front and put fans on back pulling it will give the 24 pin enough room. Just thought i would share the info. you have to cut off the left over power supply rails.

Creekin Back in the day a good friend and driver Kenny Brightbill would come down under to race. He had a lot of fans in your country.

yeah i was going to get one of those psu extenders for my rig, but decided i didnt need the room,
lately ive been thinking of moving my psu external, might re-visit the extender idea, thanks for the reminder :)

A quick question for the electrical guru's I purchased a power station that has 8 four pin outlets there are 4 on each of two power leads. I am using Aquaero with power adjust plus 3 additional power adjusts. there will be a pump on each of the 4 for a total of four pumps. this puts 2 pumps on each power lead. Will this be to much draw on this power station.

What make and model is the power station?
can you open it and see the internal wiring?

As long as the wiring is standard gauge it will be fine, pc power cabling is over rated most of the time, and pumps draw very little amperage in relation to the spec.

Edit: that pump draws 1 amp
most 12v lines put out around 25amps, so can handle alot more.
in my experience as a lighting tech, often the cables are rated to say, 10 amps but the PINS in the plug may be only rated to 8 amps!
look for the weakest point in the power station, it should easily handle a few amps.

Is that an AC filter mounted IN your psu? :confused:
I still cant decide how to mount my AC res and filter, looking to mount in the same place as that.

Its the Bitspower 8 station one. I want to mount it inside the 5 1/2 cage in the back and clean up the wiring. thanks for the info.

:ROTF: in the psu now your funny it actually fits above it real tight but fits. You have to have the connectors over the back edge though or your tubes will not fit.

from the angle of the pic it looks like the psu just fits :D
are the valve handles just clear of the psu too?

Yes it is the one that needs the sex change. BUT!!! I think I will sleeve Female ends so we don't need them.:shrug:

:up:I am receiving my custom plates for the filters tomorrow afternoon so once its pulled up in place I will take a picture for you. Yes I can add the fittings and tubing. I do have enough room since it hangs out over the edge of the power supply. The only thing I might not be able to do is add the LED in the bottom like I would like.

When clean, the nice AC filter reduces the flowrate only 10-15 Liter/h, so don´t care about this aspect :yepp:

I was more worried about the narrow ID inlet and outlet ports/taps, than the filter mesh itself.
I was going to do a few tests with and without the filter later today,

It looks so good with a led behind it that 10-15 lph is well worth it

yeah the taps are very handy Rod, it appears the idea is you can isolate the filter and remove it for cleaning without draining your loop. :up:

The Filter is G1/4 not G1/8 I have 3/16+ under filter between PSU so led will fit.

yeah the filter is G1/4 but the taps are a VERY small ID.
the led only needs about 5mm for the end of it and the cable to bend

i originally had my aquaero mounted above my res like that, i dont have that power booster though.
and it looks great,
but i thought it hides 90% of the res, which is the sexiest bit of kit in my build imho.

shame about the aquaero bezel, i know what shoggy said, but im sure if you sent him a few diff pics, they could pick another one or 2 from stock that match the rest of your stuff and send to you.

or just send all 3 back to him and get him to send u 3 fresh matching ones.. :shrug:

As far as the plates Plan 1 is order a new one from sidewinder and hope and pray for match. Plan 2 Gloss black to match the front bezel. I was going to put it in the shelf BUT!!! not enough room to look good. If I go with painting the plates Gloss black I will order the BayDream with the open slots to show off res.

yeah the baydream would be a good look, in black, or with a custom plexi front :up:

With what screws you bolted on rad grill on sidewall?
Speaking about front, imho it would be lovely to see single piece cut out for everything (aquaero/reservoir/slot for cdrom) - like in some murdermod TJ07s. Preferably of same finish as rest of case / door of hotswap disk bay of course.

maybe hide some of the excess powerbooster bolt heads, just have the 4 cnrs same as the aq and res
or even better stealth mount, no bolts visible :D

i dont see the point of the AQ buttons, thats AQsuites job, set it and forget it i say.
i have mounted my AQ off centre so the buttons are hidden when the side panel is on, but available when its open.
i wanted to have the buttons gone and the screen centred with the res....

mmmmm just the res and the AQ screen centred, stealth mounted in a 1 piece carbon front panel *drool*

whats that panel down the bottom again??

They are Fan screws painted Gloss black. They are just sitting there for pictures.

I will have to talk to Bill Owens from MNPCTECH since he helped me by making the rest of my plates for me. I tell him what I want and puff there it is.

I don't know about them though still need CPU and Hard drives and new feet Idea for case coming soon :D I do like the stealth Idea :up:

Hate to tell you But Blue ray Cd is there its stealthed behind a Lan li cover painted to Match the rest. I guess the stealth works :clap:

optical discs were FAR from obsolete during cdrom era if that's good starting point to be called as day 1. 650MB capacity - rather good, recalling first cdroms for PCs (mostly scsi and of 1x-4x speed :D) in on average 40-100MB hard disk era. Rise of multimedia programs imho can be atributed to wide introduction of cdroms as well, after all finally it was possible to fit lot of data on cheap media. These days, yes, more and more people turn to buying movies and music online, but at least for installations some dvd drive still makes sense.

today i do all my OS installs from USB ( i run a pc shop and build pcs for customers daily)
the only time I use a disc is for low level access, like dos and ghost etc

i just always found optical to be such a bad idea,
you scratch it, datas gone, you break it, datas gone, you leave it in the car, datas gone, if the drive decided to close as you were inserting/removing the disc, datas gone.... :(
they had their era, late 90s to early 2000s, but thats a REALLY short run compared to tape for eg.
Even flash has been useful longer than optical ever was.
and how many variations are there now, cd,cdr,cdrw,+/-,dvd+/-/r/rw,laser disc, mini disc, etc etc etc.....

CREEKIN I missed your question on whats behind the hotswap door. I cut out the top two bays to make room for a pump on top and planned on putting LCD inside door . It did not look right so I moved it to bottom front and stealthed the front and I am putting vandal switches inside door. I will be backing up a bit and fixing little things I dont like and upgrading the paint by wet sanding and clear and othe small things then back to serious building

Batiatus Is there anything else. The only thing left is SSD's Looking at Corsair F series But not sure yet. I want to use one at least for system files 60G-120G. Oops I have been holding off on CPU also since prices are coming down some. The 950 at micro center for $200 is a bit hard to resist.

yeah cpu prices are dropping here also, the 950 is down 10% this week! :up:

but so are SSDs, OCZs are down 30% :shocked:

I want at least a 120 for a boot drive, and there still a bit too much for what they are, will wait another few months,
but 60s are at a "reasonable" (by XS standards :D ) price

OCZ seems to be the better brand from what i can see

The way I look at pricing is take the price of a 60g and double, if the 120g is cheaper you are doing good. In the past there was a big difference in prices the SSD's got bigger, that has changed. I really would like to Raid 0, 2 120's and add a 10,000 rpm WD 300G for junk drawer. I messed up I put a 300G in my wishlist Sunday night and planned on doing more shopping in the morning. It went from $99 to $179 over night.:rolleyes:

I read the reviews and read thoughts posted here BUT!!! I tend to be brand loyal. Not just here but with most things. I have had great success with my Corsair Items and have also had great customer support. I would rather pay a little more and have the support. Now dont get me wrong I do not have a bottomless pocket and need to watch my costs. I have a bundle in this build as you can tell.

RAID is a waste of time for desktop use, more so with ssds, no real world speed diff and twice the chance of losing your data. :down:

i understand that, its about reliability, but don't think that just cause u like corsair ram and psus that u will like there hdds.....no company can do everything well...jack of all trades, master of none.
the birth of a fanoi starts with taking a gamble on a new to you manufacturer, based on research and reviews, then u try it, like it, and threaten to kill anyone who disagrees... metamorphosis complete :D
I too would buy a corsair ssd over another brand, if i didnt know better, but in my research OCZ is ssd king :up:

tbh, if you're planning to use the SSD just for the OS, then go with the 60 - it is more than enough for that purpose... I'd have to agree with Creekin on raiding SSDs, performance gain is very minimal... better off raiding those HDDs, just a thought.

I had to take a breather on the build. My wife had surgry and needed to be with her. she is home and doing well so I will now regroup and get moving again. I am starting to sleeve for the first time this could take awhile .

Speaking of those pump tops They were just a tad to bright to go with the Carbon Theme. I put 20% auto glass Tint on top of the pump tops.:cool: What I am looking at is getting a little light explosion out the sides and tone down the top so it doesn't stick out so much. I can always go back and cover the whole thing.

Thanks Young Punk :rofl::ROTF: Back to work on the build. I am waiting for my new feet for the case to show up. I don't want to add to much since I have to turn it over to drill holes for them. I am trying something a bit different that I think will look cool but you will have to suffer and wait till they get here .:shrug:

They will raise the case up more then standard feet and allow for some extra cool air through the bottom. I am thinking of putting a fan underneath forcing air into the bottom.:up:
