PSC based memory list

This is something which will hopefully grow into a useful list for people. Basically, ANY memory you know to be PSC based (doesn't need to have fancy names like Ripjaw or Dominator) tell us and I'll add it to the list. If you have OCd the particular PSC based memory you mention, say what you got it to do and I'll add that info as well for reference.

does anybody know more about psc?
its obviously licensed elpida 2G ddr3, but i wonder what node its made on since the chips are much smaller
elpida wasnt on 40nm yet, as far as i know... or did they later switch to 40nm and kept the same package size for some reason?
psc seems to be 40nm... does anybody know more? :D

oh and ket, if you can, get some voltage figures as well... im curious what people are running their psc at, ive heard its way more whimpy when faced with high volts than elpida?

Is this list accurate? I think Ive seens some cheapo brands carrying these timings. Will the quality be similar?

If that info is accurate, cheapo memory carrying PSC ICs is probably going to be very low binned stuff. Eg; No-name PC10600 kit may be able to reach 1600 but probably with pretty crappy timings of 9-9-9

From what I've read, PSC modules are good for anywhere between 1.5-1.75v. For daily usage 1.65-1.7v is probably their max.

well quite fairly accurate except hmm for the GTX3 vs GTX1

GTX1 is rev 7.1 ( missing "a")
GTX3 is rev 7.1a ( confirmed PSC)

best priced dual kit.. heck is just a bit more than value ram and comes with
a huge heatsink.

Yeah, those MachX are PSC, they are also in my post at i4memory, GEIL Evo Two are PSC as well in my opinion. I haven't seen a picture of them without HS but looking at the specs and results, it should be PSC.

If someone knows where to find PSC chips on value RAM, please post it. :D

Good thread- I just ordered a couple of dozens GB Ram- if I find some PSC, which I seriously don´t hope:rofl:, I´ll post it here

G.Skill F3-10666CL7D-4GBECO has Powerchip-manufactured ICs, but I think it's not the usual stuff.

All of the ECO I have seen so far is PSC based. G*Skill are PSC lovers ;)

Ripjaws:
Red Ripjaws: PSC
Blue Ripjaws: PSC
Black Ripjaws (2x2GB 7-7-7): BBSE

AS far as Corsair goes, anything thats Rev 7.1a is PSC based. "Rev. X.X" tells the IC.

Old Ripjaws and ECOs were BBSE, the new ones are based on PSC.

If anyone has taken the HS off his kit, please post some pics, I'm interested in the different revisions of PSC chips. :)

I dont know if this is the case anymore, but the reason why earlier G.Skill wouldnt announce which IC was being used, was due the fact that they could change it to more cost effecient, and if running out of stock, using other IC to acheive same settings, therefore, you wont have a gurantee that you get a certain type of IC.

Also Corsair Dominator CMD4GX3M2B1600C8 Rev 7.1 (1600 MHz 8-8-8-24 1,65 V) are based on PSC.

Numbers suggest new G.Skill Ripjaw modules use PSC. Until you can provide proof of otherwise two other people by my count would disagree with what you say, so don't get pissy because I'm listening to the majority.

And yes; I had qimonda on a pair of RIPJAW myself.... I believe HIWA received the picture of them... They had red heatspreader and were PC12800.... I dont even bother looking for a picture of it on my NAS..

I'm adding modules people are telling me are PSC, you seem to have a problem with me because of other peoples inaccuracies. I've already said as clearly as I can I want people to tell me kits that are known to be PSC, and nothing else. If there are any modules on the list that more often than not don't use PSC, I invite anyone to show some solid grounds for their claim such as a comment from a rep of the respective manufacturer and the kit(s) in question will get removed from the list.

I won't even comment on your comment about "not being bothered to look for a picture" because I want this thread to remain on topic.

When the company refuse to announce which IC is being used (which is very common) what do YOU think the odds are of a company rep stepping into this thread and enlighten yOU...

What you did is basicly question my knowledge and awareness of the market, which either was what you got - a fight, ir simply you being unaware that I have been very into ram for many years, and is a pioneer in this niche.

@Topic The idea of this thread is OK, but I think if there are informations posted they should be checked and verified for accuracy- nothing worse than info one can´t rely on, then no information is even better

Whats so unusual at ram being binned at 2000 Cl8-8-8? My Team 2200 did that with 1,62V Memtest and 32M stable, and these weren´t Hypers for sure- I even doubt these were Elpidas- maybe these were the miraculous Microns, were relabeled as I looked, still got fotos and sent them to a friend who could not identify them as well:D

Please tell me? I just bought a brand new kit of Corsair 2x1GB DDR1600 Dominator 7-7-7-20 2.0v Rev 3.1 that a local etailer had in stock from way back when to compliment my current OCZ SLI Certified DDR2000 kit and one of the sticks doesn't work. If I send it back, I won't get Microns in replacement. One of my options is the Mushkin :yawn:2x2GB Redline DDR1600 6-8-6 based on PSC (same price), which brings me to my second question. What can I expect out of them at 6-7-6? DDR1500 or more? If so, I'll probably give up on the Micron idea altogether and replace everything with the 2x2GB PSC.

I am quite happy with an extra gig (3GB total), suddenly Modern Warfare doesn't lag at all, but paying around $200 for an effective 1GB is... eina. Of course, as it has a lifetime warranty, I could hang onto it till such time as I need DDR4 :hrhr:

Patriot's Secto5 Edition kits also seem to ship with PSC chips. At least, the 2400-2500MHz models.

Some early G.skill Eco was Samsung too. I have one kit with samsung chips and one with BBSE. Didnt even know they did a PSC version? Bought the Samsung based kit on release and the BBSE kit about 6 weeks later. Samsung is better by far. Neither kit likes more than 1.6v.

Currently the ECO kits are built using PSC chips, I haven't heard about other chips being used recently.

oh so this why flares went from $430 1.65 volts 8-9-8-24 2000mhz 2x4gs (8gbs) to $250 1.55 9-10-9-28 2000mhz 2x4gbs (8gbs).
they where low stock and the others they have more stock of. :( I want some of those 8-9-8-24 though, oh well. I have the other coming for me

There are 2 versions. One with green PCB and one with 8 layer black PCB (made by guys who are also making for Mushkin Europe).
Prices are 70 euros and 86 euros for the green PCB and the black PCB respectively.
I'm considering these two. Which one should I take?
Is it worth to spend more on the black PCB?

G.Skill ECO 1600Mhz (both the 8-8-8 and 7-8-7 kits) are indeed a toss-up between PSC chips and Elpida BBSE chips, but are usually PSC. My kits run 1.6V 6-8-6-20 so I'm assuming they're both PSC.
