Can we have a gallery for the FT02 and RV02 liquid cooled setup?
Following is my first attempt of liquid cooling with a single 140mm SR1 radiator on the FT02. I am in the process of revamping the setup with a bigger radiator so let’s see how it will turn out later. Cheers!:up:

I wonder if it's possible to move FT02's hotswap disk enclosure into 5.25 bay enclosure with access from front, and put some bigger rad down there with leaving original 180mm fans in place? Probably some one-piece door should be made for good looks & easy access and turning disk enclosure 90deg for it to fit width wise ..

The HD cage of the FT02 is part of the support structure for the 5.25 bay cage, which is pinned (with rivets) together to the frame structure so it may require some extensive modding to relocate it. With some modding skills, I guess that anything is possible. However, it is possible to fit a Swift-tech 480rad with 120mm fans under the HD cage by removing all the three 180mm fan filter housings. Those 180mm fans are 1.25" thick and each sits on a filter housing, which is about 1" thick, along with a .25" thick grill, they take up quite a bit of vertical space. Even by removing everything down to the metal floor, it still needs some modding to fit 4 120mm fans down there because the floor is not flat, as it has a couple of "bumps" in the middle of the floor. With a dremel tool, it should not be a problem remove them. With that said, it should not be a problem fitting a 2.5" thick triple rad (XSPC, TC, etc.) on top of the 180mm fans if you do not have a video card longer than the GXT 465/470. Nonetheless, this is only a mid-tower case so vertical space is limited to work with.Quote:

mingbongo: Removing rivets is very easy. Reinforcing frame might be much harder though, if rigidity depends much on that hotswap disk enclosure being in it's place. I know 180mm fans can be removed, but i stated aswell - i want to leave them in place. And still have possibility of putting full size/full thickness big rad (and even maybe another layer of fans on top of it). Especially as it is about the only sensible place where internal rads should be mounted knowing airflow direction. Pitty though that problem with longer GPUs still will be there even after hdd enclosure mod.

churchy: Yeah I know what you were trying to get to for removing the HD cage. Like I said before this is a mid-tower case so it does not have a lot of vertical room to work with. The distance between the feet of the case to the top I/O panel is only 17.75" so as you can see it is not very tall at all compared to a full tower case at 24". I was hoping Silverstone would improve upon the FT02/RV02 to give us a more rad friendly case but it does not seem like they are going to that direction with prototypes of FT03 and RV03 shown in recent trade shows. Oh well, maybe TJ11 will be one to have for those of us FT02/RV02 fans.
I got to thinking after reading your original post that it would be interesting to remove the HD cage and fit a full size 2.5" thick rad down there to fill the whole lenght of the case. This is not only possible but it should not be that difficult to mod. The HD cage is a U-shape structure and by cutting the U-shape in half (the bottom part) without affecting the strenght of the 5.25 bay above, it should open up the vertical space to about 5", which is just about level with the bottom edge of the ATX motherboard. This should be enough to fit a full size thickness rad with 1" thick fans down there, assuming you mount everything to the metal floor. Of course, the lenght of the video card is still limited to a GTX 465/470 or equivalent. The internal lenght or depth of the case from front to back is about 23.875" and with this dimension it is possible to fit a 560 rad down there. Man how nice is that for a mid-tower case! :up: Who said the FT02/RV02 is not VC friendly?:D

cstkl1: nice build. It looks like he has 3x140 on bottom? I wonder if 4x140 can fit (HWLabs BI SR1 560 is 605mm long, case is FT02 is 616mm, so maybe does fit). 560 rad should be rather adequate for cooling in gaming i7+two fermi imho. Pitty he got rid of hotswap enclosure alltogether. I still think that bottom unused three 5.25 bays might be good place for it and single piece door on front would look better then three separate bezels ..

mingbogo: can you measure maximum inside length from front till back of case? (+plusing few millimeters from sound dumpening material, which most probably can be got rid of if needed to)
Hmm, also height of 3*5.25 slots, 4*5.25 slots and width & depth of hotswap disk enclosure. (I'm thinking about possibilities to put it turned vertically but most probably taking more then 3*5.25 slots (there are slim dvd drives though to help) + worse disk cooling as there is no easy way from air going from bottom to top, or horizontally, with maybe leaving only four disks because of limited width)

I re-measured again tonight the inside distance from metal to metal of my FT02; it is about 23.75-23.875 and this dimension includes the foam, which is about .25" thick. It should be a very close fit with a SR-1 560 if it does drop in. If it does not fit, then you can always grind some material off the back panel at the bottom, as the FT02 has a 3/16 thick aluminum panel plus another .05" of steel liner inside. Better yet, make a rect cut out just enough to clear the 560 and then cover it on the outside with a mesh panel. :up:

Really nice in terms of build quality, but as the author states, disappointing temps. A slim 140.3 for three GPUs and CPU is just not enough, in my build it was not enough for GPU+CPU+MB. Obviously depends on what temps/noise you are looking for, though.Quote:

Slim 140.3 especially not enough because slim rads almost all of them are high finned FPI ones, so they work well only with very fast and loud fans, and cool bad with quiet fans. Though rad area is not adequate aswell for three GPUs an CPU. 4x140 might be better and for one GPU less and in gaming only, not in crunching/folding, which loads to the max both GPUs/CPU.
Hmm, I also wonder if it's not worth to use something to close sides of 180mm fans to force all air to go through rad instead of part skipping it and going arround because of 180mm fans being wider then 140mm fan rad shrouds.. Needs to be tested of course, with or without closed sides ..

I did remove them, so far no dust at all, probably because there's a space of about 2cm between the rad and the bottom of the case, enough for air to be sucked in, but apparently no dust :shrug:Quote:

You could install a magnetic filter on the underside of the floor since it is a steel floor. In fact, I have one custom made (magnetic filter) that covers the whole floor, which should arrive anyday now. I will post a picture of it when it gets here from South Africa.Quote:

or you could just use one of those 1080 mo ra 2 or 3 rads on the outside of the case.

Makes me happy seeing this. I don't need more than 2 optical drives max, so I can always put some 3.5 & 2.5" drives in the 5.25" bays, which would allow for more rad! :D

I'm a little confused as to why the 180mm fans are not so good... especially if you bought a rad w/ low FPI. I have a case w/ one of those 180mm fans and it moves a whole lot of air. Low static pressure? It does a good job for me. :shrug:

Since the last photos I have added a second GTX 470 with Koolance block and interconnect, I will get some new photos uploaded at the weekend.
1 triple and 1 single rad have been perfect for keeping temps of overclocked sli GTX 470's and i920 down.... In fact I probably could have managed with a single triple rad just with higher temps.....

The standard 180mm fans were bad as wc fans even with low fpi rad, not enough static pressure and also difficult to channel airflow through rad effectively..... A quad rad ( or in your case, triple) is a nice option. I'll be forced to do SLI in future as my lone 470 handles 2560 alright, but not amazingly.
Btw, the mugen is a nice cooler. Keeps my PII 945 almost room temp at stock. :yepp::D
I find that a triple rad and single rad at the top have been great for overvolted i920 and a pair of GTX 470's, also I kept the dust filters in place...
I'll have to admit.. some of these ft02's look nice.
So glad to have this club here! I keep seeing statements about how the FT02 and RV02 are lackluster in the watercooling department. True, they're not the best but more than adequate!

Very nice veblen! Yeah I am getting ready to slap on an EK 470 block on a 465 card, I hope it will fit okay. I believe that this is a good place to show off our unconventional cases and I am pleased to see more than a few people joining us. Mine still has a way to go before matching up with some of the good looking builds here but I am working on it. Cheers!:up:
Where these cases really shine in my opinion is for people who want a mixture of air and water cooling. For example, the reason I bought it is so that I can cool my CPU under water and still have great airflow to keep the GPU's and chipset cool without having to put them under water as well. I used to cool my GPU's under water too but I got sick of tearing down and rebuilding my loop every time I wanted new video cards as well as the complexity of the loops when cooling everything with water requiring the use of rotary fittings all over the place which, at least in my experience, have not been very reliable.Quote:

I have to disagree with you. When fed enough fresh air, as in with this case, my GPU's do not get loud at all. With a few exceptions, the GPU will be the most often changed component in most people's boxes and even if you use universal GPU blocks it's still a serious PITA to tear down the loop and change coolers if you upgrade often. And with the CPU, yeah, I can get excellent air cooling but I always have to hang these MASSIVE, heavy, ugly-looking, mainboard warping monstrosities from my CPU socket in order to get anywhere near decent water cooling performance.
These cases look great for air cooling and water cooling.

Was wondering if someone could tell me if I could fit a 120mm rad Hardware Labs Black Ice SR-1 up top ? (i currently have a XSPC RS 120 but want something more thick).
I'm concerned because width of the SR1 is 133mm, and RS120 is only 121mm (it's 1.2 cm more...).

H2lium: i suggest you to cut hole in side of HDD enclosure, otherwise airflow above 1st rad fan seems greatly restricted, if not by horizontally mounted HDD, then by roof of that inclosure. If you don't use all of the 5.25 bays, i suggest to put that 2nd (or both) drive up there, and remove HDD enclosure completely.

Many improvements were done on my build since the last time I posted here :
- Removed HDD bay cage for better airflow
- New mobo GA Z68X UD7
- New tubes : Tygon R3603 9.5 /15.9 mm (3/8" ID 5/8" OD)
- Tubes re-routing
- Jigsawed the upper lid to add a 2nd fan in pull above the 120 rad
- Manufacturing of a custom aluminium cover to hide the wires coming out of the power supply in the lower right part of the case

If you already removed hdd cage, didn't you think about replacing that 480 radiator with 560mm SR1? It fits there perfectly.
honestly i'm too lazy to change that radiator, my T° are good and I already changed too much stuff ;)

Awesome job on the sleeving, but what's with the goofy airflow setup?
I bet it doesn't make a difference, at least not enough to care for 24/7 daily use. Main goal here was to show fans, if you hide them under radiator effect is ruined, and if you flip them (to pull) they also look worse. That seems to be main thing author of that rig wanted to achieve (looks).

Glad I found this thread. I have been trying to draw up different specs for WC with the FT02 for a new build (don't have case yet). You guys have saved me some time and money deciding on what will work.
I was tossing around an idea of mounting a radiator on the back/bottom outside the case. I was trying to find dimensions of the PSU fan vent for size comparison. What do you guys think could mount back there? A 140mm single? Was thinking about doing that with a push pull. Leave a gap for the push fan with some spacers or washers.
I only want to cool the cpu for OC (Sandy Bridge).
I'm new to watercooling btw. :P

If the case was just a hair longer it would fit a bit nicer (the Rad).
Only thing I would change would be toadd a hot swap 5.25 HDD enclosure (4x 3.5" drives in carriers) and a 5.25" drives adapter/cage to be mounting for 2 x Slim Optical Disc Drive into a 5.25" Bay
Great builds guys! Planning a Raven 02 / Fortress 02 water cooled build. Quick question: If you have a "thick" rad, say about 55mm, in the bottom plus regular 120/140 fans, does a GTX 580 fit?

Ok, what i wanted to say is... You have less than 1cm space left between vcard and radiator with 25mm fan. But, also i have to admit i thought wrong with the size... i was thinking about radiators like Thermochill or XSPC RX when you said "thick" rads and did not read what you wrote after, "about 55mm" part... So, yes, now after reading correctly, I rectify, it will fit with a 55mm radiator.

I am new to this forum, saw the thread and thought I would post. I dont have a boss Liquid cooling setup yet, but I am in the process. I am waiting on my new mobo to arrive, so I thought I would fab some mounts for a 240mm radiator, with side exhaust. I will be modifying the side of the case as well. Next step is to grab a water block for my CPU and GPU's and get away from my old H100 liquid cooler.
WTFBOOM - I have a Raven 02 with an H100 running my machine in the sig below. You can remove the middle and rear bottom fans and mount your H100's radiator. It works very well. I will post some pics later.

Hey guys, not even sure if this post will work but here goes, first time water-cooling, lots of experience building PC's though. Very happy with the build, (pics should be attached). 2 issues though, firstly i am concerned that the RAM cooler i added is being heated up by the loop too much and i am going to 'melt' my RAM, temps got up to 55C after a little benching... on that note i am running the Prolimatech Blue Vortex 14 fans ( http://www.prolimatech.com/en/produc...?id=160&page=1 ) are these fans any good?, it'll be a pain to replace them but if i will get a significant performance boost with other fans id be happy to, any ideas? Or just any ideas in general for what you can see?

Will an EK XTX 120 fit on top of the Raven 2?
It should, there are examples of all kinds of thick rads mounted there (in raven and fotress), including old EK 120.1 radiator (previous page).

Great cases! I have a query though.
My HD6990 is watercooled and I am considering this case. I have a 360 SR1 currently and would like to keep using it with the FT02.
The motherboard (X79 Sabertooth) has a x16 PCI-e slot as the very last slot (1.5cm from the bottom of the mobo) which I could use. Can any of you guys see a possibility that I would have enough clearance for the card if I have it in the very bottom slot and the 360 rad at the bottom of the case?

Lowfat....beautiful work there, brother. Can you talk to me about the rad/fan setup? I'm guessing that is a triple 180 (who makes it?) and can you just bolt it on top of the stock penetrator fans? Or did you have to remount everything?

The radiator is a Magicool Slim 540 3x180mm. And you do need to remove the stock fan mounts and filters. The FT02 comes w/ adapters to use a 120mm radiator. However I use them as stands to hold the radiator up. It works rather well.Quote:
