Thanks a lot :)
Alex
Thanks!! Appreciated muchly!!:up::up:
:up::up:
very cool
now that we have bios and mods we just need to find the secret 480gtx-for-free-source :p:
Thanks a lot man
Bye

The coldbootbug do you have to short all 3 pins or only the 2 bottom ones?
Only the 2 bottom ones.
thanks Marcus
Thanks alot Mercus..
Nice one thanks
WOW! Nice thats so awesome!
Thanks for Sharing Kinc!
thanks :D
Are the OCP and OVP mods needed if the BIOS already has them?
Thanks for the pics!
using napalm's vmem monitoring point...its already 1.65v ....
where do you measure vmem? nevermind...its prolly the same..load caps...
i'll try your cbb mod....nice fix on the cbb...from asus...
thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing:up:
Thankyou for sharing :D
Is OCP really a problem for the GDDR? :S
mods work perfectly.
Now facepalm because of memory coldbug ...
mm vdram? mem cbb? mem cb?
Yeah ... but my readout didn't work properly *doh*. Also, I broke my CPU temp sensor last session ... in other words: everything went wrong today!
//edit: sweet lord, even FM publishing is failing ... :D
Thanks for share
To OCP (GPU) ... I have to remove the 3 resistors to GPU???...or short the 3???
Very nice information :P
Thanks for the mods Kinc....I'll give them a try :)
These are some very important mods, thanks Marcus
Fantastic that you shared Marcus.
Since im a complete new gen nub, WTH does FB stand for?
Feedback :) as opposed to VID voltmods.
please friend
what voltage i have to set to FB OCP mod (set a 20K trimpot to 10K???)
Thanks for share
are these tested? I did the OCP mod and my card is now dead :(
I did do the GPU OCP mod on mine and it is fine. But I ran into other temp issues :(
I did not do the mem FB OCP mod  Only Vdimm mod as shown....worked fine.
As to my problem, I was getting artifacting even with stock clocks in 2D (on desktop) below about -80C
I tried both of the modded BIOSes that Hipro posted :-/
I'll test again when I have more LN2. :)
Very weird results mia, waiting on more news on this.
mia pics of pcb without the resistors?
You don't believe me
I'll have to get them later, I'm going to bed
i just wanted to see it
@Kinc : On the FB OCP mod, wich SMD is more appropriated : 10k or 20k ?
Best regards

Where you messure vmem? on caps leg I have 1.67 :| I thought that stock voltage for it it's below 1.6...
Just an FYI.
I needed to flash the card with Hipro's coldslow bios before I got the Vdimm upto 1.6V. Without the bios, I got stuck at 1.2V for some weird reason. With all mods (kinc's and hipro's), this new card is flying like crazy ...
Which BIOS did you use, #1 or #2? Is there still issues with memory clocking with #2 BIOS?
Use #1. You don't need #2.
What setting to FB OCP Mod???
5K works fine (LN2)....
Thanks in advance
What brand card are you running Massman?
MSI, both.
Card brand doesn't matter, all these PCBs are reference.
very good
where are you guys posting your results from these mods?
on teh interspacehighway
Did anybody test a mod for the Voltage of PCI-Express and Crystal Chip?
Better overclockability?
is this ocp mod the same as the mods used in moa eu finals 2010?
3 resistors removed? or msi used a different method?
HW mods are the same.
Bios was Hipro's BIOS with MSI vendor code. Note: the bios was titled "Hipro BIOS with MSI vendor code" ... props to MSI for giving Hipro5 credit and not just 'stealing' IP!
I'm pretty sure this is it Banik bro.

Here is the MSI branded bios: http://elmor.se/files/msi480_fix.zip
Hi guys,
question: How too shourtcut the transistor for CBB Mod?
http://www.abload.de/img/gpu_mod_gtx480bqey.jpg
yeah put a blob of solder or silver ink connecting bottom 2 legs only
That's what i wanted to know, thx
So do we short the resistors for the OCP or remove them?
As far as I know they need to be removed
"Shorting a circuit is equivalent to placing an ideal wire across the terminals of the element. Because current will take the path of least resistance, shorting an element redirects all current around the element. Because the potential difference between the terminals of the device is zero, no current can flow through it . This practice must be done with care, because reducing the resistance of a certain portion of a circuit to zero can theoretically raise the current to infinity, and the circuit will become damaged."
What we are doing is removing the connection.
Correct me if im wrong.
thanks for the OCP mod kinc, works like a charm here :) !
Unfortunately the CBB mod dosn't work for me. ive done it twice to make sure its done right and it just wont work. warming up to -10c from -80 really sucks. OCp mod works like a charm though.
BenchZowner posted an alternative mod. I'm out f juice until Thurs. Give it a shot and let me know.
Alternative CBB Mod

The FB mod... what does it affect?
:) Thanks
video memory voltage Kenny ( FB = frame buffer aka VRAM )
Thanks Bill... did kinda think that... but this pic confused me...:
http://i49.tinypic.com/2ry6cyp.jpg
So I take my pick and do ONE of those two mods?
Yes, Napalm is using an alternative soldering point.
So use 1 of those 2, not both :D
I was expecting the resistor/ trimmer values to be the same though. The mod is being applied across the same point, (isn't it?) but the trimmer values are ~3.5K Vs 10K for the same resultant voltage
I'm confused. Are you talking about the FB vmem mod or the FB OCP mod?
FB Vmem :)
If you guys have any problems applying very high clocks ( getting artifacts when you hit that nice apply button ) it might be due to... 2D/3D switch bug or the current temp isn't good enough.
With some cards you get a nasty 2D CB, you need to force the card to run in 3D mode all the time to be able to idle @ desktop ( obviously to apply high clocks :p: ) at very cold temps ( my best card can run 3D @ -188C, but at 2D anything colder than -124C results in artifacts/crash ).
I did a ninja BIOS edit before today's short session ( only 14lt of LN2 ) and it did work like a charm.
I'll upload it later on at the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 reference mods thread, need to get some rest asap, my eyes are "bleeding" at the moment :D
You wasted Ln2 like drinking water..:p
Bigger dewar next time will be very usefull...;)
