Bad news people, it turns out that EVGA's motherboard team has left the company and even taken a few PM's with them in the process.

shamino whats up with that??? and thank god you didnt left the boat....
Well, I did not see that coming
Wonder where they are going...
No they don't.
Hmmm wonder what is going to happen now?
The article follows the sites name... Semi Accurate
Support for SR-2 is falling short then?
afaik its 1 guy... the main hw engineer... why thats being called a team i dont know...
but it was the evga source that called it "the team", so you cant really blame lars :D
its funny how most people think that there are huge design teams working at mainboard and vga makers... its surprisingly few people...
you usually have several boards per engineer per year, and then there are at least 2 versions of one board, so you end up with up to 10 boards per year from the same hw engineer...
its really not that many people...
Well, it seems like HardOCP scored the same story, with a few added bits

If it turns out this article isn't true, or contains misleading half-truths, I would add all semiaccurate link URLs to the banana list forum-wide if I had moderator powers.
Just how big a boobs are they ? http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/6934/hurl.gif
another article (in french) that brings more details on the Europe situation of evga

secure the building...some might try jump like foxconns...lmao
This press release makes sense now - EVGA wants to stop any rumors saying that they're withdrawing from the European market.
because most of these sad excuses for news websites and journalists will say or put anything up before verifying any sort of accuracy.
For crying out loud, none of the websites reporting this "EVGA leaving Europe" thing took the time to realize that only a few weeks ago EVGA announced a complete CPP for the EU? Why would they invest the time and resources like that if they were planning on leaving? *facepalm*
Because its on the internet and everyone thinks its the truth. No one ever checks on this stuff. But isn't semi accurate part of Charlies circle of bias.
I just read that a new stargate has been discovered in Guatemala...

j/k
and i thought Shamino WAS the design team for EVGA...
even though this is not their team leaving i would love to see the evga MB team leave and make their own company or NV not having control over them, getting long xfire cables or if they were allowed to make an am3 790/890 board would be great especially if it got some voltera action,
what makes you think nv has decision power over evga boards? is it not in the interest to promote the use of video cards that evga sells? i think they'd do an amd board if amd actually took the crown back.
i guess but isnt that still NV having control over them as evga is an NV only OEM.
i still want a voltera am3 board and since dfi is apparently not making new atx boards it kiinda kills that off unless evga dose it but ATM if evga did it then there could not be a good board out as it would have sli so no amd chipset unless they work out some licensing with NV.
hmmmm
i think either way this is a win for evga and europe imo...
evga in europe SUCKED big time...
its better to have no evga in europe for a while than continuing with a sucky evga that rather hurts the brand image locally and can even affect their global brand.
and about the hw engineer leaving and possibly bios and product manager as well... i dont think itll be a big hit for evga... the SR2 will keep them on the top for quite a while, they probably have their 1155 stuff already finished, so they are basically set for the next 6 months, and within that time all they need is to start working on refreshes of existing boards, and start new boards only at the end of 2011...
i think the major thing you need when engineering a board is getting the specs right, and the specs and features are set by shamino... as long as the new engineers follow his lead and are able to do what he requests and specs, which i dont think should be a big problem, then i doubt most people would even have noticed the engineering team changed if these news wouldnt have come out...
I've always been happy with EVGA i truly hope this stuff is air...
It's been confirmed, the EVGA team went to Sapphire as they got a better offer
http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/06/...therboard-team
That could shake things up a bit...
Funny that they build boards for AMD. What would cause them to go through so much trouble for early next year?
:D
Not bad, considering sapphire will make nice amd boards, which is perfect in case bulldozer turns out as good as it's hype with dfi leaving the atx market.
Sapphire is working on some Intel mainboards since a few months ago, you should see them in autumn ;).
Any confirmation for this?
couple years ago EVGA had amd boards, referent boards...
click
this evga = nvidia = foxcoon
Well, they didn't exactly suck, service is the best in Europe, but they're more expensive than all other brands and not quite up to what the US level of service. Step-up is a joke for example in Europe, in almost every case it's better to sell your current card on Ebay and buy a new card. ANd they don't have enough models available for step-up. I wanted to step-up my GTX 260 55nm which I bought shortly before the GTX 275 was released. I called them about it and they said the GTX 275 would be available for step-up, and yet it never was...
But they're pretty much the only manufacturer in Europe that allows direct RMA for all products, I RMA'ed a GB card twice and had to 4-6 weeks both times
EVGA should pick-up some of the DFI guys now, I'm sure they like designing OC boards better than designing industrial PCs ;)
So.... quad socket 12 core OC boards?
Over at TechEYE.net they write that Sapphire is taking over EVGA
Love the rumors :D
Oh God please do not let it be true. I'm not crazy with the idea that Asus and Gigabyte will be the only two high-end manufactures left.
How is this good news, saphire is known to have bad rma, evga has one of the best and fastest systems in the usa. This is bad news.
went to evga today, they wouldnt confirm anything of course, but i talked to a coupld of other press guys today and they all got this confirmed through different people...
everybody said its not the whole team, but its several people...
They can hire some people of Lanparty crew from DFI
hahaha somehow I doubt sapphire has the capital to buy out someone like evga.
Bingo. :D
... "team" is a very wrong term to use. A few engineers left, as for where they're going... it doesn't really matter that much because its NOT the whole team.
As for the TechEye crap... that's just plain ridiculous speculation. Holy crap, its almost as bad as Apple buying ARM. *facepalm*
Drugs are bad children, please stay off them... clearly some people haven't. I just cannot believe the sheer amount of FUD going around EVGA right now... its insane. Whoever wrote that article was to embarrassed to even put their name on the article...
getting a couple of the motherboard engineer is not a buy out. ATleast if that mean we can see some crazy amd motherboard, i am all for that. Bring on 4 socket g34 overclocking motherboard !!!!
I hope evga scoops up some of the dfi dudes and comes up with some absolutely crazy stuff.
Finally got a replay from JAcob

I wished they'd clean up the euro department, the VGA RMA and stepups are fine, motherboards are far from... samples, don't even think of getting one here, unless you hump every eVGA guy you come accross... really funny as the spam you to death for a review , you agree to get the appropriate hardware ( CPU's and co) and then no more sign of life... appointments at trade shows that are not adhered too,... not good...not good...
But they got a very solid lienup and revolutionised the X58 market big time... hope thye get their acts together to continue with or without the team or leaving guy(s)
Maybe they can pick up the European support team from DFI as well?
