Wow, shes beautiful
fire it up and overclock that sumofbich
Is it just me or any retail B1 i7 980X I've seen is from the exact same batch ? 3003A957
Seems like it
Mine is too the same Batch ;-)
My X5650 B1 (Q4EJ) is different, an older one from last year. Batch# 3951Axxx.
These CPUs will most probably have different OC headroom for different batches too, but it remains to be seen. That's the most exciting part with a new CPU, actually.
Best start keeping track of the batch numbers early.
It's one hell of a mess with older i7 batch numbers on XS. I wish I made it a requirement for my LinX club by now... :(
Yeah, it is a good idea to watch and track batch numbers in a systematic manner.
The art of batch-tracking is actually half of the art of Ocing, in these days ;)
Mine is 3003A957 also...
I see all 980XE Retail still 3003A957.....
Looks like we can't pick batches for now... we only have 1 choice :p:
is that a good thing or a bad thing?
I just picked mine up and it's Batch #3003B287.
In NL 1st batch is 3005F215.
I wonder if Microcenter is carrying the B batches?
Looked at the egg today , you gotta go combo deal to get one there :(
I saw that as well. That's why I bought it elsewhere this time. Looks like they are trying to sell some of the RE II Extreme mobo stock before getting the RE III Extreme in.

Someone needs to start a Gulftown (and Xeon Westmere) Batch # sheet asap w/ OC results! (yeah yeah... I know i'm being lazy and hoping someone else does the work...)
zalbard is good at doing sheets.
Someone has to start a OCing threat too, or maybe a combination? With so many batches (I have so far seen A, B and F-batches in the same week) something is really going on. It is really valuable to have a good database for tracking the results.
woohooo, got tracking number for mine, should be in tomorrow from MWAVE. Hopefully I get the better of the batch!!!!!!
ok, installed for 2 hours - cooling via chilled water- apogee xt block to 2x coolit boreas in series, mcp pump with xspc top.

Wow Gunslinger very nice clock!
That said, I don't think I will be putting that kind of v's into my new $1k cpu for a while just yet.
I made a thread quickly, enjoy.
Will edit it properly once I'm at home.
Good job. I knew we could count on you :)
But can we have a general tips and tricks for OCing Gulftown and Westmere, + the list for Linx-stable OCs in same thread?.
I don't think many of us dare to LinX (at least i don't yet) on high OC yet. We need a few days to get to know the possibilities/limitations on these CPUs, and what they can take of torture, etc ... This thread could be a good place to discuses it. Or maybe we should have new thread for it?
EDIT:
When I read more I see it can be for both, that' good :)
Yeah, it's for both.
You can discuss anything Gulftown (Westmere) related there, there are no restrictions.
However, if you want your result to be added to the list you have to follow the rules. :yepp:
I have the F batch 980x, I'll post my experiences, just got the damn thing today!
Mine is a 3005F215 too. It's 100% stable at 4.5ghz for 1.37v and it can bench 3D at 4.7ghz for 1.5v on watercooling, a lot better than the Q3QP i had (no xtreme cooling for me).
Submit yours in my Gulftown thread, please.
I'm not fan of stability test... Benchmark are way more attractive!

got my 980x 3005F215 (from Fry's in the US, ordered 3/22), putting it in my GA-X58 UD7 tonight, will report back. im just a humble (but brave) air-cooler though.
I'll let you into a little secret all the 980's are Male not a single female made.
Altough I have heard there might be some gay ones among them buet even then I don't think they could be said "she's beautifull"
I was going to PM you to save the embarrasment but I put it on to save others from the same fate.:D
Come on, B-batch has been a female since my first B-batch-babe at the first days of i7. A i7 920 C0 B-batch-babe that could do a whole 4GHz on air while all other A-batch-guys have been stuck at 3.8Ghz :ROTF:
