My x2 555 has come, UK, looks like a good one
-
nice! First batches from 2010!
great photo quality m8!
-
Solid. How much'd it cost? Also how is it compared to the 550 except it's 0.1Ghz faster. Would u say it's a better overclocker?

Not tested it fully yet, just tried 4ghz to see if its ok. Cost me £88 delivered, quite dear to say there meant to be $99 in usa !

I waited the 555 just for having the C3 stepping for sure, this is the reason why it is better :)

id say its a little bit better, my 550 was ok at 3.8ghz, this seems stable now at 4ghz with 1.5 volts. This is in win 7 64 bit.
-
Freezz 'er and make her scream:D
555 must be easier to push than 965 with cold
-
Must be strong for 3D'05 and '03:up:
-
whau, nice chip from 2010!
-
Yeah still waiting for good deals in U.S.
Probally this week or next .. We should have good availibility soon...It will be my Next CPU thats for shure.

I have ordered a AMD Phenom II X2 555BE here in Sweden, it will come tomorrow. Same batch CACAC AC 1002EPMW :)

Have you tried feeding it more voltage? Should be possible IMO.
-
Tested with prime95 blend tests, 3dmark, cinebench and passed ok. But just started playing up and getting ( A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor ) tried more volts which made it worse. Looks like one core is weak, Board is Crosshair iii and have full watercooling. Not very good at overclocking what would be best to try.
-
Stable at 3.9Ghz (1.5V) 2400 NB (1.26V)
Corsair H50
Cant get stable at 4ghz :-(

Hehe I like your style. I will pick one of these up in a few weeks. Got a few chips on the way to play with in the mean time ;)

Excuse my n00bishness, but how do you unlock all four cores on the Phenom ii X2 555? Is it just luck of the draw on the chip you get? Or is there something that you can do?
-

Tried a few more volts and lowered the overclock slightly to get stable.

yes it all luck of teh draw as AMD sometimes disables the cores as they are faulty so you cant unlock them and if you do they wont be stable and sometimes they just disable the cores to satisfy demand and you can unlock these and they will be completely stable

Holy crap! I just want to compare something here, I have an i7 @ 4ghz 3ghz NB speed and it pulls about 53GFlops 32bit....
I am very impressed to see your phenom to do lower than 4ghz and 50GFlops in 64bit.
I am curious tho, as to why another poster either in this thread or the C3 thread...could only hit around 38Gflops in 32bit mode @ 4ghz. 64bit shouldnt make that much of a difference! lol, Ive only see it be a few Gflops difference on intel hardware.
I am of course referring to your linx screenie =)
-
No idea, somebody with a bit more knowledge than myself might be able to explain, I just used to it test stabliity as recommended by a few people.
-
Yeah something rather strange there.
-
Just had a look around the net and found this :-http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/649258-unofficial-phenom-linx-stable-club.html
Tried mine with all memory selected and only did 10 runs before restarting.

Wow, I really don't understand AMD's business model at all. Gimping a quad-core to make a dual-core is pretty silly, IMHO, but whatever. I haven't bought an AMD cpu since my old socket 939 dual-core FX-60, but oh man that was a sweet chip, didn't really overclock too much (3.0ghz is all I could get out of it), but it was just about the fastest thing around when it came out. But now I'm interested in AMD again, especially at the thought of a $99 quad. But I think it might be safer to just get a quad Propus, than gambling on getting a quad-core Phenom ii X2.

true if you want or need a quad then you have to buy a quad but it is nice when you buy a dual or tri core and it unlocks to quad. also the business model is pretty good on AMDs part as all the chips are based on the same monolithic quad design if a core doesnt meet the standard then it is disabled, we as overclockers have different standards for example my 4th core is unstable at any speed below 1.5V this was unacceptable to AMD so it was disabled but to me it is fine as Im on water, so instead of throwing the chip in the bin and getting nothing AMD disables cores and sells them as dual and quads, you will must likely see the same happen with the hexacores that that dont make the grade they will be cut to 4 cores but using our overclockers standards we may be able to get it back to 6 cores
-
I just tested if it wanted to start at 4200MHz and 1.5v and it worked. Later i will run Prime and watch if it would be stable.
Seems like a good CPU
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=994806
was not so stable with 4200Mhz and 1.5v. :(
-
All my voltages are stock except Vcore and Vdimm. Is there anything else I can tweak to help the core along?
1002EPMW from scan, unlock ok.
-
cpu-nb volts if you are on am3 board might help, i dont think am2 boards have it
-
not a great chip for a c3 but this is what i have... :)
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?ac...ost&id=1433525
-
3.92ghz + 2.5ghz NB
1.5v
Seems to be my sweet spot.
-
3900Mhz CPU 1.37v) + 2800Mhz NB (1.3v)
-
Hahaha, DFI being DFI my AM2/AM2+ LP JR 790GX-M2RS does support NB voltage adjust ^-^
-
When are these 555 BE's supposed to be available in the US?
-
Why don't you guys play around with the bus speed instead of leaving it at 200? Maybe more of you could break 4.0ghz that way?
-
I have been, I might have something at least very close. Also my NB is now at 2790 :)

make sure it is cpu-nb, not just normal nb

Was going to buy a 955 this week... not anymore ;) just waiting for these 555's to arrive in Portugal
Out of curiosity, with the 2 cores unlocked, how much are you able to overclock with stock vcore?

Should be tomorrow or Friday, they shipped to the distributors yesterday and it usually takes a couple of days to show up at the various etailor sites.
-
a quick test, volt needed is not that impressive thou.. :(

What motherboard do you have?
I have the same problem. I can unlock but it will not boot in Windows, it restarts when it come to the Windows loggo.
-
-
okay.
If you manage to make it work in Windows so, please tell me how you did.
I know that we have different motherboards, but i might get some idea how to succeed :)

Just my guess, but doesnt that mean the enabled cores are most likely bad?

DFI Lanparty Junior 790GX-M2RS - The latest bios (R7JDA12) lists the 550 BE support, but it recognises the 555 just fine. It booted on the original bios just fine too, but did not recognise it of course.
ACC was set to auto

Now I'll try my Phenom II X2 555BE as a Phenom II X3

Does your board let you choose between:
cores: 0,1,2
and
cores: 0,1,3
?
-
It has a section called Processor DownCore. The values are 1 2 3.I can't choose which core i can disable but when i boot with acc auto and goes x4 and this is to 3, it disables 1 core....but do not know which..damn..
-
The newest Bios on M3A 79T..
Is very very buggy..
It wont keep my X3 720 stable Unlocked@X4 or 550 @X4 when unlocked ..Sometimes it will refuse Unlock and just boot X3 or X2cores .Dosnt matter which cores i Disable or Enable..The Unleahsed Mode needs work ATM on M3A79-T..
This was tested with Bios 1402 and 1501 ..Hopefully thell get it better soon..Has to do with Voltages when Unleashed Mode Is enable..The Auto ACC dosnt tune correct i think...
You Can Try -2 all cores or +2 all cores ,, it may work..I usally Needed +4 all core for Both 720/550 to unlock on the M3A 79-T to X4 but it wasnt stable with either Bios for some reason..Even when Downclocking to Stock cores it was unstable using Unleashed on this Mobo...In Normal Mode they Both Clocked Over 4000mhz with 1.56v ...and 280htt+..
The M3A 79-T unleahsed mode being buggy is why i decided to get a Gigabyte 790X -UD4P for Unlocking CPU's.
.The Gigabyte's seem to be one of the Best unlockers..As the Same two Chips FULLY Unlock and Both Clock past 3600mhz X4cores...
Matter of fact my 550 is @ 4100mhz as my 24/7 setting 1.54v:D
The 555's may act the Same with M3A 79-T Mobo...If you want to unlock any X2 or X3 i suggest a Gigabyte/MSI/Biostar to do the Job ....
Read here ,, Every thing you Need to Know on M3A 79-T....Great Mobo For Overclcoking Chips (BUT NOT Unlocking ATM )maybe next Bios.
http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx...uxe&board_id=1
Something to think about..
-
thnks man...As you can see here i had problems with the bus speed so now i am back to 1201!I was thinking for a new mobo...cause enabling auto acc unlocks to x4 but stacks at win logo screen...I tried all available acc option and the downcore option but refuses to boot even at lower frequencies.I think that this baby can unlock but in different mobo..
-
My 550 would only unlock sometimes on that Mobo or Not unlock at all...
Thats why i grabbed UD4P...
All the UD3P/UD4P/UD5P/ DDR2 790X.............790XT//790XTA DDR3 mobos all unlock..even the 785 series too...
-
-
Did you manage to unlock it?
