the microchannel looks like the ones used by HK - EK Supr o XSPC, the efective disipation area of my block is smaller than, but i hope to compensate it with the design of the microchannel, the way the water enters the block and with the "jet plate" desing.

Why i dont wanna buy a comercial block? I am not paying $100 for an HK, becouse i can make another one that fits my taste its similar and its way cheaper.

When i am done crafting radiator (3x120) i will only have the Pump as an imported component.

THis is one of the best Costum Block ive seen so far. Great job.

the water flow test with the pump (Koolance PMP-450S @11.7V), the reservoir and only the block (without radiator) with the most restrictición "jetplate": the result is 2.2 gpm and 2.5 psi.
So Skinnee or some guy who has a result could compare with this configuration? :shrug: :confused:

its the PMP-450S..... becouse is connected to a powers supply that cost $15:down: and the Voltage that provides is of 11.77 V. please take a look at the picture

According to the SL flow estimator with 1 meter of tubing, an HK LT 3.0 and D5-Vario @ setting 4 = 1.80 GPM

How many times did you run the bucket test? 2.2GPM seems rather high.

in order to avoid any further missunderstandings, i performed a new test connecting the Pump to my PCs power supply (12,34V). My flow meter is quite simple, and has an error of -35 -40 lph. :eek:

this pump with RPM does not fit what i want. when I compare the test with MCP, the measures always are lower. (MCP655 @12V 700 lph and 2,3 psi).

1 test: just pump........................................... 640 lph (2,84 gpm) and 1,8 psi

2 test Pump + prototype block..........................485 lph (2,15 gpm) and 2,6 psi

3 test Pump + prototype block + NB DFI expert... 305 lph (1,35 gpm) and 3,4 psi

i performed the test 3 times, i am interested in knowing if the plate was too restrictive.

In my opinion it is slightly worrying that the copper base of the block is attached to the plexi top via threads in the plexi top, as opposed to the thread located in the copper base. As far as I know, plexi does not like to be stressed in this way, especially around drilled parts. There could be a possibility of microcrack formation around the threads, leading to the loss of proper contact between the top and the o-ring and eventual leaking. Plus, if one thread goes bad, it puts extra stress on the remaining threads...

thats pretty awesome man, it looks as tho you've stumbled upon something good. in theory this should be a fairly epic block. i'd like to see either skinnee or vapors review on this.

Really good looking block. Which tool did you used to cut the micro channels? Cnc with a reaaally thin cutter?

Your plating looks really good! Could you say how you set it up? Things like concentration of nickel, voltage, etc... I have a 5,000ppm solution of nickel and I want to plate some stuff to practice for a GPU block plating in the future.

Even though I don't like cross comparing benches... here are Vapor's results from a Core 2 Duo and a D-Tek Fuzion

Screw Slotting Saw - 0.013 Inch Thick, and do it manually ..... not cnc.

I bought the solution already prepared in a chemical store.. If you have a regulated power supply, the parameters are as follow:

Volts: 3 - 5
Amps: 2 x 100cms2
Time: about 5-8 minutes

this block looks nice! and if you took your drill that you made the mounting holes with and drilled out the space in between the 775 and 1366 mounting holes it would be 775,1156, annd 1366 compatible. just a thought ;) are you planning on mass producing this block at all?? if so it would be nice to try out. honestly your temps are nit bad at aall considering 2 things, 1: your temps REALLY are not that much higher than those on skinnee labs and that was a mainstream top end block back then, and 2: your ambient temp is 10c higher than those tests! meaning your block runs close to the same as the fusion V2 if not better probably more comparable to an ek supreme or appogee GTZ if you do the math with your ambient temps.

the mounting hole can be only one (if i make just one version). as for the result of the OC we both agree. :up:

im curious about this... how thick is the base compared to others, i think that might be why temps are a bit high... i mean i hit 70C during prime with 4 cores and 1.5v under load...

it'll be nice to see this thing tested by the pros tho :) if nothing else it looks cool!

Great job! I'd like to point out though that the the max temp in CoreTemp is not good for evaluation blocks, the average temps across all four cores over a period of time is needed for this. In your screenshot both blocks actually have an average temp of ~55.5°C.

I think I might need to have a go at this as well... make a new base with deeper channels for the Heatkiller :)

I'd be interested in bigger heat load performance, as in o/c of overvolted i7 @4.2+-4.5. Also can you add numbers for flow/resistance aswell? Congrats on beating 2degrees of champion :), 2 is a lot for current similarly performing waterblocks that have come near maximum effectiveness.

I am prototyping a waterblock with 0,2 mm channels which are 2 mm deep for my diplome work. With Flow Simulation it beats HK 3.0 by 2,5 degrees.

I doubt any block released in the future can beat the HK by something as large as 2.5 degrees. Not on any processor heat output currently at least...

HK has bigger channels which are shallower which means I increased the surface area by a considerable ammount. Comparing real model with flow analysis model of HK I got 5% error in temperatures. So consider that those 2,5 degrees may be real in the near future.

it looks like you could use some CNC work on the waterblocks. you didn't cut the channels the same depth each time. perhaps it is just the
offset of the radius of the slitting saw but still.

Jassaf: how about rising voltage+higher overclocks? Most liquid cooled pc-s i've seen here were that of core i7 at 4.2-4.5GHz with ~ 1.4-1.45V. Probably 1.5x heat dump of i5@1.3V@4GHz (afterall, upping voltage&o/c gives temp/heatdump bump, and so does having hyperthreading on). The higher the heat dump, the more clear to see differences between waterblock performances imho

While there may be some less-than-happy-ness about the air of smuggness in the posts, I think this is brilliantly made - As a goldsmith I was all about working by hand and making stuff, so this is impressive.

One thing to the op/designer ... if you plan on making these to sell, and keep working by hand, you may find your results vary dramatically... even if this prototype is slightly more efficient than the EK block, customers know that any block of that design will be pretty much identical. One off hand-produced is cool, but only a minute margine of error could make the next one less efficient than the EK block (or more efficient of course...). It might, if you want to make a buisness out of it, be an idea to get some CNC stuff.

Beautiful work though, if there's one thing in this world I appreciate its fine workmanship on this sort of scale. Well done.

*Is having a hard time with Jassaf testing method*

first, you test alongside a home made HDD block, which is basically a free variable too many.
second, I can't seem to find anywhere how many remounts you did. I really hope you didn't base this entire page of arrogance on just one mount, or even a cherry picked mount.
