Can you take a pic of the invite?? Or a screen cap if its a digital one??
VisionFinity? Really nvidia? They could try harder.
Hopefully those new displays are actually decent. Though I know asking for an IPS panel and a super-thin bezel is too much already, I'm not even gonna hope for led-backlit.
Might be in sli mode or even trisli.
if so, its playable if the numbers of 20% holds true to 5970.
But going from a fakecard to sli or even trisli seems as a stretch in this timeframe.
Drivers takes time to write properly.
VisionFinity..
BUT.... if one fermi card is going to run three monitors with 3D Vision and will run it smooth in any new game... I will be honestly impressed...
Don't you see the name makes sense? ATi has done all the marketing for them. Change the name a bit, and to the consumer it's obviously similar tech, but better.
+1 to nVidia. :p:
Sounds fantastic though, 3D eyefinity and Physx to boot. Awesome.
Trolling? Look up what trolling means.
To all the naysayers, if ATi can deliver smooth framerates with a bazillion screens, then I think nVidia can do it as well with 3 screens in 3D and Fermi. Providing Fermi is going to be the powerhouse that is promised. Which I don't doubt it will be.
I don't see what's there to be impressed about!?
a)
3D Vision works by practicaly rendering two pictures in the same res
b)
Only two 3D Vision capable monitors are 22" Samsung and ViewSonic and works @ 1680x1050
c)
So three 3D Vision capable monitors = six "normal" 1680x1050
d)
Since HD 5870 has no problem running six 1920x1200 monitors, I don't see why Fermi wouldn't be capable of running six 1680x1050 monitors?
Don't you have to look at a display straight to get a 3d effect? I am asking since 3 monitor setup sort of 'surrounds' you, and they do not stand firmly in front of you in one line...
And yeah, terrible marketing name indeed.
I just dont want to imagine how is that 3d going to look on 3 TN displays... especially the monitors on left and right side..
a) that's why it has 2 render 2 times as much frames to keep the game smooth.
b) :banana::banana::banana::banana:, didn't know that.... :S Aren't there any plans for 30 inch 3D ? 22 isn't so impressive, although I got one myself, but seems small after 2 years :p
d) ehh? Can it? I seriosly doubt.
Let's take GRID as an example. According to the review 5870 gives an average of 115fps @ dx9 full hd AF16. I guess it won't provide smooth gameplay on six 1920x1200 monitors in this game - there's no way.
I don't think it will be called "VisionFinity" ;)
Maybe you should read the current 3d vision documentation, it clearly states that any CRT over 100hz will work just fine. I have used my Trinitron @1600x1200 with it and its rated at 100hz at that res
I doubt that the 30" will be done, there isnt enough bandwidth on DVI dual link for that refresh. But Display port may be able to do it.
here is the list of current monitors/TV/Projectors that support it

@ libertysyclone, I did read it and I'm pretty sure this newer 3D set up works on 120HZ not 100HZ like older version years back.
usually with news posts, we prefer a source cited....otherwise it is just rumor.
I'm personally going to wait for those 72" LED Vizio's, they have 3D, Wifi and WirelessHD which with the new update to the spec could mean they are 4K monitors, best part is it's only $3,499
or the 55" and 47" models are $2,499 and $1,999
You know all the rage with 3D TV coming up this year, and now 3D gaming with multiple monitors...I looked at some demos in the store, they suck. N/e one got the same feeling? Got a big headache looking at that 3D stuff, never mind the dorky looking glasses.
Do you know what your talking about, Since when is Scotland in the USA ?
50HZ or 60HZ for power out a wall is nothing to do with a screens HZ capability although it is initially what the HZ will be, some smaller older LCD's were 75HZ and higher.
I can use 60HZ but I'm in UK or any other weird uneven number as I'm on a CRT (Sony FW900), 75HZ, how about 85HZ, 96HZ, 100HZ, 110HZ 120HZ or more ?
Your trying to say Nvidia release it needing a 120HZ in USA but only needing a 100HZ monitor in UK LOL.
50HZ+50HZ (1 per eye) would flicker like mad on a CRT.
again here is the list I posted eariler ;) didnt mean it in a rude way just correcting you.

Ninja edit with the source

am i the only one who dosnt care for 3d, but still wants 120+fps monitors? with no bezels, all so i can use it for the original Finity (EyeFinity)
i'm in the same boat.
i want a 24" with 1920x1200, TRUE 120hz and ips-panel with good response time plus no input lag. unfortunately, with the 16:9 crap monitors taking over the pc world i guess we'll never see such a monitor... too bad :(
btw: lol @the term "visionfinity". usually, nvidia isn't that unadventurous when it comes to product names (even for the very same product :p:)
LG announced their 3D capable monitor too...
I don't think thats happening soon at least with ATi, they been lazy and haven't done anything to fix their current porblem with 120hz displays for a while now :shakes:
i told ya
Good Bye Eyefinity, welcome 3D Vision Surround
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/News...x?NewsId=26635
Why on this forum, in NVIDIA cases are so many infatuates and doubting Thomases, and under any AMD/ATI news are only positive responses, people wake up!
Yep thanks Zed X anything else you wanna say..
The thing is in this forum people change with the flow, fermi had several delays and other related problems so people started to get influenced by the negative vibe. Now when the fermi will be launched people may start talking in a different tone.
Dont you remember the fake face slides and the apartment pic for the fermi!!
Whatever you do, dont feed fermi after midnight!:sofa:
Did Ati patent eyefinity technology in its current form?
ok then nvm
Its not visionfinity its 3D Vision Surround
I have no idea how 3D vision surround will work, since it means pumping out double the amount of pixels as eyefinity, and even a 5870 using eyefinity struggles to keep up with the output.
also wouldn't the monitors have to be arranged in a _ _ _ format instead of \ _ / which is the standard?
so how do u get 3d to work on multi monitor, it makes the 3d image wider than the screen from the demos on the current NV stuff so u would have 3d overlap, and on top of that it just makes it have 2-3 planes. its nothing like a 3d cinematic experience it more reminds me of a 3d cereal box comic
^I suspect the whole 3D stuff (regardless if from nvidia or ati) will go the way of sli and crossfire, it will be great if you get it to work, but expect to wait another couple years until they iron out most of the basic issues.
If the 30% faster than 5870 is correct it could be doing 39-40fps where 5870 os doing 31fps
Another reason to wait before jumping on the eyefinity bandwagon. Between waiting to see how fermi performs (and affects prices), waiting to see the HP ZR24w LED monitor will be priced at, and how good 3d vission surround works, my patience is being tested.
Really, the only thing that will sway me from eyefinity is if 3DVS has greater compatibility with more games AND has better multi-GPU support. The latter being the more important to me, because running 5760x1200 on one video card isn't that great of a deal, IMO.
I can verify surround 3d ;) Saw it first hand at Nvidia HQ a bit ago. Unfortunately I could not talk about it until they did their press release. 3d Stereo has GREAT game support. Multi-GPU support now is key.
I have been taking my setup to LAN parties for the last year or so to demo Nvidia's 3d Stereo gaming . . .people have been quite impressed. You really should try it. When I worked the Nvidia booth at PAX my job was to handle the 3d game demos as well. You should have seen people's faces when they played WOW in 3d. McLovin it

it works great NOW at least the games do. ATI can only do 3d gaming when using an Iz3d monitor (Iz3d was my sponsor before Nvidia came out with their current 3d Stereo technology - I have an iz3d monitor in my office still). The Iz3d solution works well but requires a special monitor that has two LCDs stacked on each other and requires two DVI inputs so working with Eyefinity will probably take some development time.
There's nothing that screams "I'm a virgin 4lyfe" more than sitting alone in your room with some dorky ass glasses playing a silly mmo like wow.
There is some truth to that . . . LOL. Not a WOW player myself though. I have a life . . .quite a decent one at that. Get to travel and work events with Nvidia and Crucial. Many LAN parties through the year. Get all the best hardware to do build after build after build for free. Having a WOW addiction would mean none of that for sure
ROFL your comment killed me(omar little)
DB how dose multi monitor and 3d work. and did wow get better in 3d over the last year, i thought that it made it worse and it was the worst of the demos but then im not a fan of 3d
so there is no overlap
Whats up with this guy camping at the computer?
Here you go, all thats missing is the 120hz.
