Me

I have been trying to recover from a sinus infection that spread into my jaw and ear. The complications started when I was prescribed a antibiotic that I had an allergic reaction to and made me worse. For two weeks I could not close my jaw or eat crunchy/hard food.

I have been in bed for weeks now, rarely leaving the house or even sitting at my computer. After a strong regiment of Erythromycin I am feeling better and hope to be back 100% soon.

Reggie has been bringing me food and checking in on me along with my brother who has been staying here when he can.

i had the same thing with roughly the same complications, i ended up in Physio Therapy for a year as the infection had left scarring in my inner ear, meaning i was having trouble with balance and alighnment issues, it can also make you feel inverted as your brain spends so much resources trying to compensate.

this can feel like wearing a space helmet feeling (it is often described as this) also can make you feel confused and hence very short tempered

if you need any advise on this condition (if it affects you) PM me and i will point you to some resources that might help

this sounds very familiar to me, and i suspect this is far from over for you, concentrate on getting well,

what i will add, is that this has never left me, i have learned to cope with the balance issues, to the point of barely noticing it, but every time i get a bad cold now, its back to square one for a short period.

i found playing first person shooters very theraputic :up: so it wasnt all bad..lol

sh.. man..nice you are ok.. There are 3 main bacterial agents involved ( taking it as a bacterial infection). The ATM ( temporo maxillar articulation) being involved relates it to a tough infection.

Stabbing in the dark :the so called strepcoccus pneumoniae can be the cause of the infection.
Get proper medical atention as in some cases, it might get the lungs ( this is the one we dont want to be in you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streptococcus_pneumoniae).

If possible ( just to check your immune system ). Check this out. It is just for you to figure out things and this is only representative, how a neutrophil ( defense cell) swallows ''anthrax'' or Bacillus Anthracis .

I had two big operations because of acute otitis media. Hearing in my left ear is down about 25% and I still get ear aches, swelling and itching in the ear canal during the allergy season and whenever I get a flu.

as an aspirind MD I would recommend not to have ascorbic acid per se. I would as said go to the doc and have the ears examined, as well as mouth and would do a blood test :up: ( some nurses nowadays use so thin needles, that you dont feel them , nothing to do with the intra muscular )

Charlie I also hope once you recover fully, you will make a backup plan, a chain, if your down, out for a week etc. runmc will be responsible or something.... Ahhhh I know what thats like. I had a 103 degree fever and they gave me penicillin, Rough way to find out I was allergic to it when I was messed up from a fever and then feeling like spiders were under my skin. I Feel for ya take e'r easy.

Find the Head nurse and get to feeling better man....

I'm glad to hear you pulled through Charles. All kidding aside, before the advent of antibiotics, people frequently died from infections like yours. I have heard it was a horrible agonizing way to go and I am sure you can vouch for that.

Surgery yesterday, feeling much better today.

Due to the location an oral surgeon went into my jaw, tooth 31 received an rct, not fun at all.

Clindamyacin is strong stuff, I should be off the stuff in two days.

I have been working on the CES schedule and I will post a thread on what I have planned. So far I have a great location idea and will continue with the best food.

Hey I went into the er the other day for a tooth infection and they prescribed me that. There was just no way to afford it. Had to change it to amoxicillin.

If thats the case its ethiology its vira, most likely parotiditis virus, belonging to the paramyxovirus, which causes otitis media aguda, problems in balancing body, etc :)

yeah get feeling better Charles! I can't believe this slipped by me from being here as much as I am... Its that time of the year as I too was knocked on my butt by an really bad bug that lingered for weeks and I still have a wicked cough 4 weeks later... I think its great that you have a gerat support system and friends that are helping! I hope to have fun in a few weeks and wish you a speedy recovery and lots of soup!
