SF3D OC Meeting - (Oct.-09) Some sinlge GPU records?

Hi all!

It is time to do some benching again. Personally, these last months have not been very good in this hobby, but I am confident that future will be better.

It was time to invite some friends to my place and have some fun. Members of this small meeting are Macci, Neoforce, Pofigist, Lidon and Me.
3 Guys from Russia and 2 from Finland :up:

We will use AMD gear and VGA's are obviously the new 5870 models.

Here is some preliminary scores done by Macci!

Vantage X preset with one 5870 card. -45c°. 1.4V

So, these are the starting levels and let's see how far we can go.

Macci is preparing motherboard at the moment and some of us are preparing the cards. Serious OC will start in few hours.

On the evening we will relax and go out of course :up:

OK. Weekend and meeting is over.

It was fun, but really exhausting. Sorry about silence, but we really had no time :(

We were focusing to Vantage X preset on LN2, but weekend was full of surprises and failures. We spend hours and hours trying to find solution to our problems, but there wasn't any.
Problem was really weird. When we tried to overclock our graphics cards and system at the same time, it was always locking up. It was system failure, cause we could run our cards better, if CPU + other parts were clocked lower.

Chipset problem or motherboard power supply? :shrug:

Well, we got some pretty ok single card runs, cause then system and VGA was working like they should with one 5870 card :up:

AMD Phenom 955BE / 965BE (Both real retails :up:)
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe 1.02G
A-Data 1600X
Thermaltake TP 1200W x 2
3 x 5870 (One died before the real tests)
SF3D LN2 pots (LHe / LN2 models tested)
Windows 7 + Beta VGA drivers

So this was the sum up from this meeting.

Multi GPU scores were not as good as expected, cause 4th card was dead and there was issue with motherboard/system.

Next time cards will get more clocks and we have to figure out the system problems :up:

Mind games.. nothing more :D 5870 Cards seems to clock well on other boards, so it might be fixable problem. We will investigate it.

All cards were using non stock voltage of course. We were using GPU Tool to overclock the cards. Seems to work perfectly and will be out really soon I guess.

Yes I believe :D This was not even the limit yet.. we were running out of LN2, so we had to stop at 6412MHz. It was running without issues :yepp:

:D We learned our lesson from last sauna pics..

Well, it was really frustrating for us to try to solve that weird system issue, so we just did one run to see the outcome.

Next time 4 cards and higher clocks = Very nice X preset score for sure.

Phenom seems to be good in game tests, even X preset is not supposed to be very CPU bounded. With these new generation cards we will start to see some scaling from CPU as well ;)

custom ccc max clocks as well thats not the asus top one is that a custom bios or custom drivers

Why does anyone run the xtreme pre-set on vantage? Its not ranked on hwbot, so its a waste of time. Even for pre-testing etc why not pre-test in something that matters?

I think that because there isn't "in" the hwbot, doesn't mean that can't be runed!..... :D

Cards are ATI and no custom bios or drivers. You just need to know what to do :D

Because X preset is not CPU limited and there you can see the full potential of graphics card. That is the best graphics test there is at the moment (talking about hardware only)

Also X preset is Xtremely heavy, so if you can run 1250 on X preset, it will not fail in 05 or 06 for sure.

Amazing CPU (6.3Ghz) and GPU (1.2Ghz) over.

One question... the vid of X4 965 rev. C3 displayed on CPU-Z, is it real??? Because looks incredible for me... 6.3Ghz @ 1.45 vcore.
