6GB Gskill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD [lots of screenshots]
Received a new triple channel memory kit from folks at Gskill - 6GB Gskill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD. The Gskill Trident F3-16000CL9T-6GBTD is supposedly using Elpida BBSE memory ICs, while not as capable as Elpida Hyper 50mm ICs for >DDR3-2000Mhz 7-8-7-x speeds, they still hold their own for looser timings.

I'll post my preliminary results here in preparation for a larger triple channel memory kit comparison review in the works :)

First hour using this kit and managed an overclock on these for 8x 32M Pi @DDR3-2124Mhz 9-9-9-24 1T at 1.72v. Asus P6T6 WS Revolution bios sets latencies pretty tight so good pi performance even for Win7 OS :)

Both 8x 32M Pi and single 32M Pi runs done in same windows session.

Did you try 9-10-9-x ?

These BBSE mems seem to like high TRCD value and it allows for a serious jump in clock, more than changing CAS. I run my Ripjaws 2x2GB @ DDR3-2292 9-10-9-22 1.665v as 24/7, haven't tested going higher cuz my CPU is so crappy (1.4125v bios for 191x21). I'm pretty sure they'd be capable of 9-10-9-x @ ~DDR3-2400 if I used 1.68v. These mem ICs remind me of TCCD for DDR1, likes high frequency and losened timings and doesn't require a lot of volts either.

The G.Skill Tridents are awesome for the price!!! I picked up a set for $150.00 from Newegg 2 weeks ago to play with while my Kingston 2000 CL8 Elpida Hypers are out for RMA. Hoping they send me Hypers back. If not then 12GB Triple Channel BBSE:D

Here are a few quicks shots of how I made out. Pretty much same results as eva2000. Having trouble getting 2100Mhz CL8 LinX stable without really high QPI voltage.

Max memory clocks @9-10-9-24 1T at 1.76v

Folks are reporting higher head room mhz with 9-10-9-x timings for Elpida BBSE, and I can confirm that is correct. With 9-9-9-24 this trident kit maxing out 32M around DDR3-2124mhz with ceiling of semi-stability around 2160mhz. With 9-10-9-24 timings same trident kit pushed 32M pi @DDR3=2220mhz and managed validation @DDR3-2281Mhz all at 1.76v vdimm and 1.65v QPI/DRAM uncore volts.

Told ya tRCD 10 would help and I think that's where this BBSE ram shines. :yepp: I didn't try 11 myself, but I'm satisfied with DDR3-2292 9-10-9-22 anyways at 1.665v. Ofc P55 and X58 can't be directly compared but pushing near 2300 in tripple channel is awesome for X58 for this price.

Thanks.. seems both my DFI UT X58-T3EH8 and Asus P6T6 WS Revolution with xeon cpus can really push uncore to 4400-4600+ frequencies on just air/water cooled cpu :D

Great review and in depth testing + results eva :up:

I grabbed a set of these when they first came out and have been really impressed for the money.

They have worked flawlessly in both my DFI T3eH8 and RIIE and have been up to 2140 mhz 9-9-9-24 @ 1.66v :)

I haven't pushed them really hard as I did not want to start posting in the graveyard but these use the BBSE chips and seem far more robust than those dodgy batches of hypers...

I have a kit of these, they are really great ram for the money.

They do DDR3-1600 6-7-6-18 tRFC=60 at 1.535v completely stable on my R2E.

Thanks Biker yes indeed excellent memory for 24/7. It's priced very well in Australia too relatively to other kits. Looking forward to more kits for P55 dual channel testing soon (hopefully before xmas break) :)

I have problems to config GSKILL Trident 3x2 2000Mhz at 1600 with timmings 7 7 7 20

I'm sure it is possible.

My mobo is Gigabyte X58 UD7

I test with 1,4v and 1,5v in qpi/vtt and 1,66v in vDimm but nothing helps.

Can anyone help me ?

sounds like you may have a bad kit. I was having the same problem. I RMAed the ram and now 6-7-6-20-1T at 1600mhz with 1.25v VTT and 1.6V VDIMM

I can also run 1900mhz with 8-9-8-24-1T at 1.425v VTT and 1.64V VDIMM

TRY another kit!

I passed about 3 hours of memtest 4.00 without errors. If I would like to change my kit I need to demostrate that was bad.

Which program is best to check it ?

Finally I buy a new kit and work without problems at 1600Mhz 6 7 6 18 1T

The problem is If i can justify that my old kit is faulty if I can run them at 1600 8 8 8 22 with 1,6vdimm or 2000 at 9 9 9 24 at 1,66vdimm ?????????

The lower cl works better on RE2 than Evga Classified and cl6 it's almost impossible :( it's my opinion only
I think it's time to change the memory, maybe some Elpida Hyper :)
