after seeing 5870 nothing from old school can excite me now
Only one thing to say...
OMG! Price?
Born to fail, like GTX 285 Matrix
Wha no PhysX card. hehe
5850 will trounce these.
5870 CrossFire and save yourself a lot of headache... what a nightmare it would be trying to keep that machine cool. The coolers on those things block everything on the motherboard off....seems like a great plan.
Asus mars does have its looks going for it... 5870 on the other hand is just another black beauty :D
talk about a waste of time and money on evga's part.
I'd kill for this setup. Too expensive for me. :(
3x 6-pin PCI-E plugs? The clocks better be through the roof and cruising at 37,000ft to justify that....
Great card(s) ... if you live somewhere near the North Pole...

226-300w per card? for a single GPU it better be getting 4870 X2 level results
Is there a PSU with 12x 6pin pci-e connectors?
After much discussion of how to mimic the surface temperature of the sun, this is the result.
might as well be the eVGA 285 ftw snickers edition to compete with the asus mars
Wildly off-topic but I think its pretty cool that the UK and the US have the same chocolate bar names... and the same fillings... but all mixed up
too little too late to steal any ati "thunder"......maybe nvidia should pull there finger out and get some real competition to the market....
why does it need that much juice?
however, after i've read the rumor about bad gt300 yields these ULTRA PIMP OMFG editions actually make sense. i mean there were oc'ed cards in the past as well, but with asus mars and now these cards i just can't get rid of the thought they do this to fill a gap until gt300 gets released (which might be bigger than we think, if these rumors about bad yields really hold water...).
give us the 5870 and gtx380 damnit! :D
Olds new is old.
Just use a Ultra X3 1600 with 6 adapters to double up the 6 pin plugs. It's a single rail PSU that can easily focus the energy requirements of this setup. However I think this setup is a little too late now that the 5870 specs and benches have come out. Does not leave much excitement for these 'older' cards anymore. Think I would rather 2 5870 with waterblocks.
Got to admit it looks epic but unneeded much?
Seriously though, wtf is the point apart from getting massive (if) FM scores? You cant even drop in a RAID card. I'd chose 'just' 2 of those with an OCZ P-Drive over this anyday tbh. They better fitted it with 2GB GDDR cause from the few single games that make use of 2GB of GDDR, it's pretty stupid to have 4 350Euro+ cards and getting beaten by 2 GTX275 cards with 1.792GB:ROTF:
And no, I didnt bother checking if it even has 2 or 1GB of GDDR because :effort:, my interest is nowhere to be found. As said it's nice and it sounds fun, but this 'feature' has a better purpose on say a GTX260/GTX275, better affordable and over the top performance over all (apart from this that is).
I guess this means that GT300 is right around the corner.
EDF called, they feel it's in your best interest to buy a power-station for your pc.
That picture on the 1st post is just REALLY sexy :D
isn't this a repost?
yawn - this is so July - old news to some ;) though the design is freaking kick ass!... one of the three power connectors is for memory :D
The card is dead sexy. BTW, this was out before the new ATI, which looks really similar in design.
This is no good. The PG&E will cut my power line if I buy this.
Have you ever had the card ? why do you call it a fail ? it's one of the better single GPU cards and at the moment at a very good price/performance ratio. Only thing for me it arrived too late on the market same as this eVGAcard......
ATI numbers are amasing for the red team, let's see how the heat output is.... With the ATI coming it will drop drastically in price, but the matrix is still a nice card...
hmmmm definately way too late to release these... im affraid it wont sell well and as a result evga might stick to ref designs in future, that would be a shame cause if it wont sell well itll definately be because of the timing...
i dont think the 3 power plugs are necessary, just like on the classified board you only need the additional one for ln2 and high volts...
this card seems to be made for ln2, but then why is it sold with a heatsink? and a not very good one at that... i dont know how well itll cool, but the external design is terrible, those cards are literally choking each other to death...
