I managed to find some time at my work and test the Gskill 1600Mhz CL7 RipJaw.
This rams are awesome, i didnt have much time, so i didnt test them at 2200mhz, but i´m pretty sure that they can handle it, tomorrow if i have time i will test it.

Elpida BBSE seem to be great chips for the price. Tridents by G.Skill rock also, there is a separate thread for them.

What is the better choice, 4GB DDR3-2000 Ripjaws or 4GB DDR3-2000 Trident?

Currently looking into elpida BBSE but would rather a tigher bin than 9-9-9 2000, rather something 7-8-7 1600-1800 that I can play with and tighten up

These are unbelievably cheap for the performance. Really cheap here in Aus as well. Like the look of the 1600C7.
Which do you think are better 2000C9 or 1600C7?

This just adds more weight to the case for going with a Lynnfield/P55 combination. Cheap CPU, cheap RAM and mobos running SLI/XFire at comparable speeds to the X58... Sold $$ :up:

I would suspect if you want to run tight.......you will need trident 1600 bin 6-7-6 my 2c. Other than that I think it makes no diff.

I'm waiting for some eVGA & Asus back from my friend, a 870 and then, i'll make some tests.

i think the best way to know is test them
any powerchip can do 2000 cl8 with 1.65/8 ? i think no maybe chew can help us here
if u can't take off HS try boot @ 2000 cl8 or 2200 cl9 @ a normal voltage if they handle this freq means the are BBSE @ 80%

Damn these are cheap for clocks like that. I got 3 of these kits ordered for my x58 build. Only problems is, do the protruding ramsinks get in the way of a megahalems? The ramsinks look pretty low and nothing like the height of patriots... It would be a shame if I got 12gb of this stuff only to find out it's too tall and gets blocked by a megahalems.

Good Binned Power chips( etc I bought a couple sets ) run hot on AMD platforms, they need to be undervolted, they max at around 1680 7-7-7....obviously looser is worse on AMD so i didn't bother.

They do rather well 6-6-6 1333, had them to 1400.......undervolted.

A buddy of mine has the ripjaws 1600 cl 7, not so lucky. Refuse to run rated specs of 7-7-7 1600 on AMD platform. Will only run 8-7-7 at rated volts.

Maybe he got a bad set....he plans to RMA.

The IMC on the cpu is known good tested by me.

No problems with 8GB of this memory on a Rampage Extreme (X48) and 1830Mhz 9-8-8-20 2T with 1.80v.

No boot at CL8 with up to 2.0v.

Didn't even try as I wasn't looking for a 4gb population. But this board is notorious for not running 2GB modules at their rated speed and I'm getting 1830 without trying. With four modules!

Getting confused.
After reading the whole thread my understanding is that PC3-16000C9 should perform better than PC3-12800C7. Is that correct? The reason I am asking is that they are both available for roughly the same price (1600 is £1 more expensive :) ) and I am just wondering which one to get. What do you think?
