Mmm the plot thickens....
TDF.
P80 debug LED like epox boards..
That's nice to see.
To thoose who have the AN7, does the led work?
When I had mine, the LED worked just fine from what I could tell...I never saw that hand soldered resistor though...
Just checked mine and its the same!
Man Abit sure rushed those out! I wonder what the heck the hurry was???
Yeah mine has that as well.. noticed it but didnt think twice about it.
I still have to return it since i'm like the only dumb ass that connected that damn cut trace and had the blown 3rd DIMM slot.
and at the back..
another hand solder.. sigh.
thats by the ziff socket and mosfets the last one.
this is the LED hand solder:
that sux i didn't even notice that on mines. good thing i got a refund from newegg.
im gunna hang on to mine
later when a new rev is out, ill RMA mine
the back of mine
the cut trace
Sure glad I hung onto my $$$ on this one:eek:

Beatnic, is that how your board came? thats NASTY!
You know what? it is hard to imagine Abit making so many mistakes on a well proven design so I'd dare to speculate that uGuru is responsible for all these late fixes, what do you think?
woa WHAT THE HELL is up with abit???
honestly, who would care if the boards would run 240fsb but they oc like crap and are full of fixes :\
not good.... not good at all!
That's Abit in a nutshell...Epox baby :)Quote:

Gotta love that last minute high quality effort.
lol ya, go epox, but wtf is with the 8rda+ being cancled, it was one of the best?!!! especially the rev 2.1's!!!!! those were probably the best NF2 boards.
if you want a high quality board get the a7n8x, hq capacitors and hq mosfets that barely get warm ;)
the worst oc on an a7n8x deluxe 2.0 i heard of was 220dc, the best ~260 :D im still at 250 but i havent played with it for months. still default nb heatsink and i think my memory was keeping me back.
This one right?Quote:

Does this one need to be modded? And are they easy to do compaired to the NF7-S v2.0?Quote:

wtf is this? any word from an offical from abit? i mean i wouldnt care if the board performed really nice, but it just seems really ghetto in my opinion.
i tried to get ahold of abit, but they have over a 20 minute wait to get ahold of a person, so i didnt wait.
hmm.
Spork, that trace cut is GORGEOUS compaired to mine. Mine looked like someone went at it with a rusty chainsaw.
My A7n8x deluxe 1.04 could only do 210 FSB stable... but it was stable from 2.5-3-3-7 single channel to 2-3-2-6 dual channel at that speed. NEITHER of my nf7-s could do 2-3-2-6 to even 200 FSB single or dual channel. But they were stable to 230 or so at 2.5-3-3-7. Wierd.
hmm all my NF2 mobos could do any timings at any speed they have ever been at.
my AN7 now is doing ok at 200mhz fsb. burning in ram and hopfully tomorow ill have a decent overclock to show for it.
Abit have really screwed up this time!
hmm looks like 210fsb at max vdd is about all this thing can muster.. even on the updated bios. might be my ram though.. tomorow when im not so tired illl try again.
also first impressions of uGuru are positive. looks good.
damn thats ugly :(
did anyone find out why they rushed them? or any theories?
I've got the same hand solders. Cut trace on the back but not that other pic of the back... the real ugly one. Board looked very handled on the back. Residues (spoodge) and fingerprints.
Evil_spork, what do you suppose the RMA reason could be? I think I should be entitled to return such a beta product if I'm not satisfied and 30 days just won't cut it. It's not a video card or ram sticks that I can whip out on a busy day and drop by the post office. I've never really RMA'd anything to a company before.
Just tell him that you have a "beta" motherboard..
could this all be related to the change back from MCP-S to MCP-T?
abit denied ever using MCP-S last i heard... as far as i know that was a rumor.
i DID hear about abit(i think) starting to use MCP-S in january for something. i dont know where i saw this or when i just seem to remember it.
MCP-S was NO RUMOR. It was on the specs of AN7 on their official price list! I saw it for myself.
but the AN7 still uses the MCP-T,
if it was in any price list, then that was an error or typo
I said: It WAS on the price list!
1-2 months back. It was no typo. It was ABIT's plan.
Hum. I think I 'll cancel that order and save up for a dfi lanparty rev b ;)
Damn. It's about 60 euros more and not even in the shelves :(
Are all the bad ones from newegg, or one distributor in the states? possible they are rev 0.8 or whatever test boards for oem's and stuff, got sent out by mistake? Would make some sense, mistake, but would mean teh boards where in understandable condition.
AS for bios, its probo been made to be ready to ahve mcp-s slotted in, and , isn't there another, mcp-s1000 or something. Maybe they were based on that, but nvidia have delayed the release of the chipset so abit decided to send out several batches with mcp-t cos of having them spare? who knows.
Okay :thumbsup:Quote:

Already ordered the dfi infinity one ... seems to be the same layout :)
We ll see what I can get out of that board :D :explode:
The (obvious) AN7 layout mistakes are really weird...
i got mine from excaliber. its just this batch of AN7's that have this issue, future boards will not have it. this may mean future REVISIONS or future boards, as in a month down the road they will not have the ghetto mods done, but will still be rev 1.0
From the looks of it, Abit might of made to many boards and they had to make several hundred by hand to finish the job. It that is the case, they did a poor job. You guys should contact Abit about that to see what is going on. You don't want something bad to happen and not be about to get a new one.
This is so much more messed up then I thought. This whole board was a rushed product for the holidays that's all.Quote:

Here is the BEST example of a company when money comes BEFORE the customers who are human beings, not animals.
They rushed this board out regardless of the circumstances.
Is this why I don't have 1/2 multipliers on my board?
Is this why my 2nd dimm slot doesn't work like 1 and 3?
I have completely LOST all my respect for this company. It took years to develop my trust for them and 1 week to finish it.
When profits are more important then quality control and people, the company has no morals anymore.
The company just said, "Patch em up and send them out"
Very nice Abit. I was always bordering between Abit and Asus for my purchases. Now it will be Asus for sure. I'm not going to support a company like this. Plus Asus is better overall quality anyway. Abit boards usually have these bugs that other boards don't have.
Just look at their 865/875 boards. Some sort of memory/divider issue over a 255 fsb where the Asus has no problems like that at all.
This time I'm going to vote with my wallet. Hurt their bottom line. That's all they understand anyway. If we all did this, we could smack them in the face in the same way they smacked us.
My 1 st N3 board will not be an Abit on my next purchase. It will be either Asus or one of the others.

While I do agree with you that Abit fumbled big time on this board, and should never have released something so full of bugs. I will also say Asus DOES have its fair share of problems, as does ANY mainboard maker. Asus is far from the epitome of perfection you have painted them as...
im not sure i want to agree but i do. yes the board was rushed. but we all knew that.
think about all of the revision 1.0 nforce2 board when they first came out. they were HORRIBLE. i got my 8rda+ the day after it came out. that board was solid and stable, but slloowww horrible overclocker.
i ddint right them off just form a not so great board. then also look at the first nf7's! and the first a7x. all were bad, this is a new board, though based off another, still a new design. its going to take a little time to get the bugs out, but i can just RMA once they do!
Hey you know what's really strange?
The AN7 was NOT sent out for review. How come no reviews on it. Not one, but they have reviews on the AI7 which uses Guru too. Usually we see reviews on new boards even before they come out.
Funny, isn't it???
hmm couldnt be because it didnt work untill like tuesday last week?!
NAAAHHH abit wouldnt rush a board out like that! never!
we are the reviewers then  :stick:Quote:

Dam! I was so looking foward to getting a new AMD board for my back up machine. Oh well, looks like the NF7-s 2.0 will remain as the back up.
