Hey XS members,

First time, I met the WC a few years ago, I learned enough knowledge about it and I can build my own WC system(s) now. Lets we check the equipments what we got down here;

Quick Guide

I want to make this worklog clean and understandable for everyone. You can see my worklog stages below. I'll be gave more information about my worklog stages when I did each one of them. I will try to post my media in my thread at another pages and I'll be added my stage links on the My Worklog Stages area which I have done. You can reach my stages which you want with one click and I will reduce the confusions with this way. By the way, there are some components in my WC Component and Wire Management list which I have not in my hands right now. :( I'll mark them as Pending components on my WC Component and Wire Management list. So you can understand their status on this project easily. Some of my hardware components already collected for a while but I may make surprise to you with another optional parts here. :up: I'll do my best on this worklog and be sure about one thing what as long as I can breathe and have an internet connection I guarantee that all your questions will be answered generally.

I deeply appreciate any good wishes and thoughts about my first worklog here.

Note to all:English is not my native language. Sometimes I cannot express myself clearly. I hope you can understand that. :(

Hey @aka_GK, I am pretty fine with my C2D and I do not think upgrade my main system to i7 for a while. So you are not alone with who using the old C2Ds here. :up:

As I said my first worklog post, I'll not sleeve my PSU completely. I'll make some extension cables for it. I decided the make them in this weekend. With this way, I'll be earned some time from them because of that they'll taking my time alot in process. Probably, I'll be finished them until this Sunday and then I'll update the pics here.

I am glad to heard what you like my worklog pics mate. It prevents to unwanted usage with them (we seeing examples on the internet alot), people using the pics as their own. :(

RE is a great mobo, it has alot of potential actually, I still working on it LOL. :up:

Arthur, do you know how does Heatkiller perform on LGA775 (especially with dual cores)? I know that it is nearly best for LGA1366, but I havn't seen any good comparisons on 775 :shrug:

I already have cuplex hd, but I am thinking of changing it to the HK just to match the color scheme ;)

Hey mate,

You are right about what you cannot use the Bitspower comparisons with the HK 3.0, it doesnt fit anyway. I would like to use this ones on my project but it'll not fit either on it. I had a few Swiftech fittings in my hand, it'll be alright with it. I also used the Swiftech fittings with my old Apooge GTZ before, they are working good, no problem. If you insist a good comparisons on your HK, you can buy this ones with 45 degree. It will fit quite well on HK.

By the way, If I know this thing right, all HK 3.0s have the same fitting sizes and because of that they only have different backplates and their materials.

Damn mate, I am sorry about this misunderstanding. :(

Its pretty obvious i7s have more heats than LGA775 under oc. You can see some data for i7 waterblocks here and you remember what your C2D will have low temps than i7s generally. I spending more money to get better cooling performance for my C2D under oc now. I have no experience about HK performance for my own on LGA775 yet but I'll test my whole system when I finished my worklog. :up:

Shortly, I think HKs can cheer you up on LGA775 quite well. :up:

Please you share your opinions about this issue here.

I had to use some white connectors on them. Damn I wish I could use the black ones on them.

Wow that orange is really bright! How come you didn't make the 24 pin connector black also? I think it would look better to have them all the same color. Other than that looks really nice and a very unique color

Edit: Just saw your comment underneath the picture. It's kind of small and I missed it on the first read through. If you have a microcenter near you they sell colored connectors, I'm sure similar places like Frys does as well

I appreciate your positive comments about them mate. :up: Actually, I planned to use the black connectors on them but I just shocked in last minute. :( But I'll listen to your advise about it and I'll change them with black ones soon enough.

Updates might be slower, but I want to get some stuff done this week. Probably put some of the panels back into the case. I may order some sleeving supplies and try some sleeving. I just got my media server/secondary system up and running to main rig will get tore down. What sleeving did you get and what size/how much to sleeve a psu? Mine is modular so I know it will vary. Are you using official extrator tools?

I noticed that you're using the innovatek tank-o-matic. Are you re-tapping the thread size from 1/4 BSP to 1/4NPT to convert it over to 1/4 x 1/2ID? Btw, keep up the good work :) I kinda like the white connector over the black.

Hey guys,

I have got some very bad news and good news for you. First of all, I am so sad right now. I just received my package which includes my brand new Heatkiller 3.0 and QUAD 480 radiator from Performance PCs. This was my first attempt to shopping from Performans PCs and I had good hopes for that firm and their items. Basically I just dissapointment and these two items quality could not satisfied me well.

Let me explain that I experienced when I took my items in my hands. There are some scratchs on front and back sides. When I turned back it, I saw some deformations on back side clearly. I can describe that with this way, back side has became well worn when cpu block exposed to high heat on it. I also can say that someone marked some points with some kind of object on the back side intentionally. Thats exactly what I experienced. I also can say that Performance PCs sent 2 fittings with my HK 3.0. Probably they tested them on HK 3.0 before they sent my items but I saw some scratchs on fitting holes because of that too. Its no big deal of course because my fittings will do same thing on that. I am oke with this problem but scratchs are killin and annoyin me man, seriously. You'll see what my QUAD 480 has on it yourself too.

After that happened, I took some pictures about this problems, I'll publish them here and you can see them yourself too. I also will contact with Performance PCs support for returning after I collected my pics about these products and I sent to them ASAP. I really want to hear their answer for those pics which I'll have soon. One way or another way, I purchased 2 brand new products from them. They should have tested before they sent me anyway. Am I so careful or not? We'll see about that here soon enough.

There are some good news for you and me anyway LOL. I making some holes on a few places on main chassis but I'll share the media when I completely powder coated it quite well. My V2000 truly ashamed of you when its naked LOL. :rolleyes: I also powder coated a few parts of my chassis too. More media and information coming out in this week.

Yes mate, you are so right about that. Updates might be slower but they will never stop until this worklog totally finished. :up: I only have a modular PSU like you, I just made my own sleeved extension cables. I thought 12"~15" length could be enough of that. I used the dual ended universal molex removal tool and dual head ATX connector removal tool. They are amazingly effective at removing pins from connectors. Shortly, they worth every penny. :yepp:

Yes, I am using that reservoir which you called here. I dismount its original fittings and I mounted my Swiftech G1/4 1/2"ID fittings on it temporary. They perfectly matched first time I tried. You'll can also see my reservoir pics with my fittings in this week.

I just checked the HK blocks that I purchased from PPC's and it looks like nothing like the bottom of your block.

Just curious, when you opened the HK box, was the block sealed in plastic or not?

Both of mine were sealed and just seeing if they gave you an opened one.

Did HK had protective sticker on the bottom (that must be peeled off before installation) when you got it out off the box? There is oxidation on your block therefore it doesn't look like brand new one.

No mate, my block was not sealed in plastic or protective sticker. They just wrapped it tightly and they put it in the box, thats all.

My HK did not come to me with protective sticker on the bottom when I got it out off the box. I am thinking the same thing which this one is not a brand new block because it looks like second hand or opened box item mate. :(

Bad thing is that if I want to change this block, I must wait to exchange with brand new one for 2~3 weeks or more. Because I sent them old one, and then they send me brand new one. This process absolutely will take my time for a while.

I already contacted the Performance PCs for exchanging my HK 3.0 ASAP. I am waiting for their reply right now. :confused:

Note: I definitely did not use my items and I did not test it too. Because of that I cannot be sure they can leak or not yet?

Performance PCs appected to replace my block and they opened the RMA to me. I'll send my block to them in this Monday. I hope that everythings gonna be fine. :)

By the way, I'll start to mod my side panel, middle panel, top panel and PSU panel on my chassis. That means I can prepare my bloddy V2000 to powdercoating process well LOL.

Hey guys,

Long time, no see some time. :( After I started to make this worklog with my thoughts, alot of things in my life has changed. Because of that I could not continue to add my progress down here. I am a bit sad about that. :(

However, I am available to keep this topic alive until February 2010. I had to change my some computer hardware, WC components and the most important thing which my bloody loved V2000 with Lian Li PC-9 LOL! That case gotta be so sweet for who interested in WC with mid tower cases. :)

After now, I'll edit my whole topic and media which they are not neccessary for this worklog anymore. I'll also add more media about progress of this worklog because many people wants to know how we make these case modifications and other things about them.

This is the beginning of my powdercoating. Firstly, we undress our PC-9. :D Parting the PC-9 was not hard for me. There was some sandpaper job on the several case parts and I am done with them in this weekend. I also removed all plastic parts from HDD cage. However, I'll add the completely naked media tomorrow. I'll start to powdercoating the PC-9 in this week. I suppose it take several days but it'll be finished until next weekend mate.

PC-9 gotta be interesting for WC setup LOL! :) Thanks for asking. Stay tuned. :up:

PS: I may change my radiator choice, any alternative radiator would be great to me.

Alright guys,

I finished the sandpaper job and original rivet remains on the case skeletor and other components (You can check the latest 3 pictures on my previous post). They are all ready to go. :up:

I started to powdercoating my case skeletor and its components today (I suppose it'll be finished until this Saturday). First I'll powdercoating my case skeletor and its components with mat black color. After that, I'll change the main case skeletor color with tone of metalic orange. :up: People using this color and its painting materials on expensive auto cars. ;) I'll decide which part of the case will have that orange color or mat black color after I completely powdercoated my case skeletor and its components. :confused:

By the way, I cannot powdercoated the plastic parts of the case. They can melting it when they facing the huge temperatures, I'll think about another way out with them.

I still had indecision about radiator positioning on the top side of my case. :confused: My option is Black Ice GT Stealth 240 XFlow. I knowingly insist on this radiator because of its thin structure. If I use the bold ones, radiator will shadowing the mobo with its fans after I installed it. Any suggestion would be great about this issue.

Your situtation with your Heatkiller block is odd, I have ordered plenty of items from PPCs and never had a problem like that before. I would contact Hank, i'm sure he will sort it out for you.

Some of my stuff just arrived in my hands below listed;

Pump and top will be assembled the combo in this weekend. I'll add more media for them after this weekend.

Hey guys,

Finally, friends of mine and I finished the powdercoating my case and its components last Friday. :up: After finished the powdercoating I was satisfied what I've got out there. And then I decided to go with it. I just finished the build up the case, it was hard to build up than break to pieces LOL! :hitself: So I am so tired and I may not go to the studio for media today but I am still considering it. :rolleyes:

PS: 30x Aluminium/Steel Countersunk Head Rivet were not enough to build up the case anyway. I'll order some extra rivets soon.

Powdercoating finished and I hope you enjoy the media. :up:

As you may remember, I could not powdercoated the plastic parts because of heat problem. There are some dirty areas on the media, they are all temporary mess for case. I was hurried for media a little, sorry sorry about the fingerprints. :(

I'll change the original thumbscrews on the case with black ones. I also will paint the rivet backs (as black color) which looks dummy for everyone right now. By the way, my rivets are exhausted because of that I could not mount the anti-vibration grommets on case. I am not started to sleeve the fan and other cables yet. I may not have time for them for a while. Why Ferhan do not hear me LOL? :(

My radiator, reservoir and other Xigmatek fans stuff are on their ways. :rolleyes: When they arrived to me, I'll start to mod my side and top panel with them. I also received my pump and its top recently, I just assembled them well today. :yepp:

Any positive and negative feedbacks appreciated alot.

Nice photography!

The powder coating turned out real nice, makes me wish that I could have gotten mine powder coated but businesses in NYC overcharge for it :( Just curious, were the locks on the 5.25" bay plastic as well?

You should definitely buy a black 120mm fan grill, it would look sweet!

Thanks alot for kind words bro. :) Yes, they are plastic parts too. :( I could paint orange color them with spray paint but I did not do it yet. I see well what looks ugly that fan grill LOL. :yepp: Actually, I am thinking what I can make custom fan grill with CNC after the new year. ;)

Hey guys,

I am waiting for my radiator and reservoir in these days. And then I'll assemble them into my case. :rolleyes: By the way, I am thinking what changing my currently PSU with Corsair TX750W, I suppose it can be enough to my currently WC rig. I also can sleeve it completely because I already ordered my sleeving pack from MDPC-X today. :eek:

What do you think about my PSU decision guys? I need some answers here. :confused:

Thanks for suggestion my friend. :) Seasonic X Series did not come in my country yet because of that I cannot buy these products. :( I also have limited budget to change or upgrade my currently PSU. I choosing the non-modular PSU because they are cheap than modular PSUs in these days. One way or another, I'll be completely sleeved my PSU, with this way I can manage my wires a little easy. By the way, TH750W is agree with my project color schema, it has 5 year warranty and popular PSU in these days.

Alright people,

Small update time. :) I took the Enermax Galaxy 1000w DXX from my friend, you do not ask how I took it LOL! :rolleyes: I'll start to sleeve that monster at all but I really do not know where should I start to sleeve it? :confused: By the way, my items arrived from MDPC-X at least and I must tell something about them, they have quite awesome quality as always. Last night, I started to sleeve my Enermax's 24pin, damn its really fat a$$ and that was serious time for me. :) Hopefully, I could only finished 12pin of it in this afternoon. :eh: I hope 24pin sleeving will be done until tomorrow. :rolleyes:

Hey bro, I would like to give some small notes about the progress of this project here (I do not wanted to double post because of that).

As I mentioned before my previous posts, I ordered my sleeving items from MDPC-X recently and they had quite good quality. You can see the details below what I got from Nils;

Sleeve Small - Black: 20 meters
Sleeve Small - Orange: 20 meters
Sleeve SATA - Orange: 1 meters
Heatshrink Small - Black: 3 meters
Heatshrink SATA - Black: 1 meter

When I started to sleeve my bloody Enermax 1000w DXX, I was scared about my supplies. Because it has long 24pin, 2x6pin and 2x8pin cables with it (approx. 60cm each cables). :eek: Maybe I can give an order soon enough. :rolleyes: Anyway, I started to sleeve it with 24pin cables firstly and I faced some problems related with crimping my molex. :( I had no tools for it and I had to wait for my tools. :shakes:

I was thinking that crimping my molex will not be so hard for me but I took my crimping tool in my hands and started to bypass on them LOL! :yepp: I crimped each molex approx. only 30seconds. :up:

I also finished my 2x6pin sleeving before received my crimping tool. With this way, I could save some time about sleeving my PSU. ;)

For now, only SATA power cables and 4pin molex cables left of it. I successfully sleeved other cables but my sleeving supply may not enough for them, I really dunno about that. :confused:

Because of that I cannot use my system in these days, I cannot upload any media for my currently status but I assure you I'll be finished my PSU sleeving work partly and I'll power up my system without WC components come alive. I'll add my WC stuff in last moments. :)

I really appreciate alot who subscribing my worklog and giving feedback to me down here. :up:
