Does anybody know roughly when these boards will be released? My searches have been unsuccessful :(.
Release date should be in August, I read it somewhere
Awesome. Sata 6Gbps and 128 Phase power (notice the sarcasm) FTW!
Gigabyte is one of the best, this is going to be a solid board, the UD5 is the most popular X58 board by far, and one of the best! Should be here in August.
I love everything about Gigabyte boards except the freaking color scheme! The EX58 series looks a lot better than their other boards tho IMO.
I wonder if us that own the x58 (non-A) Ud5, will be able to RMA the board and get the new X58A-ud5 as a replacement. Or have some type of step up program to get the new board, those 24 phase power system's are sexy and the sata 3, I am liking that already.
I think you would have a good chance of getting an EX58A if you waited for all their EX58 stock to leave before RMAing, dont know though.
Looks to me like a plan to screw Gigabyte...:slapass: Might want to read the rules!
also ready to heavy vdroop
It will be interesting to see if the 24 phase power actually provides any benefit. I am not so sure it will, but it may have some benefit on Gulftown.
any idea on how much these i7 boards are going to cost?
I would imagine they would be a little more than the current X58 lineup from Gigabyte. These boards have a few other cool features such as BIOS Quickboot and OS Quickboot that seem pretty cool. Right now the SATA3 chip from Marvell they were using is causing them some trouble so I don't know if it will actually make it to market w/ SATA 3 :(.
i should have been clearer. i was referring to the GA-EX58A boards rather than just SATA6. I have an opportunity to wait a few weeks (maybe even a month) to get a LGA1366 motherboard. I was thinking if its going to be released soon, ill just wait and get one of the upcoming boards. If not, ill just purchase one thats currently on the market.
eh, its not worth my time & hassle. if i had more time on my hands id propbably consider it. it pretty much comes down to either wait or just get a board thats out cureently for me.
You'd probably have a better chance of finding a good deal on currently available X58 MB's. You can always wait forever, and never get anything. Newly released hardware usually isn't priced very well either.
my biggest concern is DOA and the questionable reviews iv been reading with the current Gigabyte boards that are out. I was hoping that the new line of boards would be more stable and less likely to have any major issues. i know there is always a chance of DOA but iv been seeing more than just one every here and there. but its like you said, it'l be like waiting forever to get a board if i were to wait.
(i don't mean to hijack this thread if it seems like it. :D )
I've noticed the DOA thing with Gigabyte boards on Newegg as well. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Gigabyte has just as many DOA's as everybody else. I suspect that there are just a couple more reported DOA's on the Egg and its a coincidence.
5-6 weeks from mid July?!!!
So it'll be September+ before they're in local retail outlets!
By that time Lynfield i7/i5 CPU's and P55 mobo's with the new socket will be available.
Might as well get one of them! Sheesh...
ok, the few p55 boards are out. so what about ex58a family? when we shloud starts to go shopping?
I would hope they are coming soon, and when they do they do not have a 230 base clock wall like the ones we have now. But they look pretty solid now 24 phase power and sata 3 O boy!
Yeah freakin hell....
Mobo's based on a brand new chipset are out yet mobo's based the X58 B3 aren't because of a Marvell SATA3 controller issue.
Gah come on, please hurry it up Asus/Gigabyte!! Sorry, a little excitable atm... ;-P
I do believe that the marvell issue has been resolved, think I read a comment by marvel about that somewhere but can't find it now
well hopefully out "any day" now!
I do wish Hicookie or someone in the know would chime in with at least a ballpark figure. Them being released in a week or two is very different from them being released 1 month+ from now. What worries me is that we've seen plenty of benches and review samples of GB P55 boards around here, but I've yet to see ANYTHING on the refreshed X58 lineup. Not even a shot of the boards since Computex in June. I get the feeling the refreshed X58 lineup is still a ways off...
nooo, plz don't dash my hopes like that! ;-)
i'm barely resisting myself from not buying anything other then new ud5.
this is nonsens why they are holding it for so long. i've readed few things and that jm chip is ready to go for about a month. second - p55 boards are out, just like was written on the first page. and we didn't got any info about time price whatever... if someone from GBT will jump here and say that we have to wait, just wait, nobody knows for how long but you people just way. i'm getting one of the asus models...
it's p6x58 premium. two SATA 6Gb/s and two usb 3.0 ports. but same as a gigabyte no words on it... crap.
EDIT:
http://www.itwire.com/content/view/26653/1231/ :down::down::down:
I wonder whether they'll overclock better? Thats more important to me then if it was some new feature that I won't be using.
The power delivery on the board, but it remains to be seen if it's a gimmick or not.
There are pics of the x58A UD5 on Hardware Cancucks with a 24 phase CPU supply. Link 3rd board down is ud5 (new revision)
old photos... more of... they are wrong, there will be no pwm phase in ud5, it will be a vrm design, the most basic technology. but sometimes simple is better and more is better :D
i wonder why there will be no TPM in UD5 and extreme?
well story of sata III is probably finished (for now :D)... GBT will probably put on hold new ex58A family...
i'm going to buy asus p6t ws pro...
What makes you think that?
I've heard it'll be available at the beginning of September.
Hmm, is that significant?Quote:

I must admit I'm yet to read up on the main differences between the two techs.
GBT itself. i was writing with them for about few moments and they say that probably (but nothing confirmed officialy) ex58a boards will be deleayed, for how long? i du no. bc there was no release data or something... wierd...
pwm vs vrm. i'm not an expert also i don't know technical language. but i can tell you that 8 phases of vrm can not be compared to pwm 8 phases. the equil? i do no but probably 8 vrm to 6 pwm. read on wiki or something. sory for english i will reedit my post soon.
ESL = English 2nd language? LOL :D
So you're saying you got no clear answer on whether something will be coming?
So something could still be coming, but just delayed to till Sept?
I'll email the myself....
Okay sounds as though PWM is just little more efficient, big deal, thanks.Quote:

where are they at? come on i want one now!
Lsdmeasap; did you find out from your friend in Taiwan yet or is it still too early?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=3678
I plan to ask tomorrow, don't want to busy him to bad today since he is just getting back into the office. But I may ask tonight anyway and just not expect a reply until tomorrow, been wondering myself for a while now since he has been out of the office.
I will let you know his reply
okay no rush, just checking, thanks.
I was informed by staff at OcUK that these boards have been ditched altogether, this came from a Gigabyte rep aledgedly..
Was really looking forward to these boards as well...
no one mentions gigabyte's rma it one of the worst...just adding the fact
@ bill, Which country are you in mate?
Gigabyte RMA service is top notch in the UK, I have NEVER heard a single person complain about them in the UK mate..
I have sent 2 mobos back to them in the past, and they were really good imo..
Also I have chatted with their online support people several times regarding my UD5 and they have done quite a lot to help me out to, and responded extremely quickly as well, I really can't fault them at all.
@ jalyst, which mobo are you current using mate?
I thought you had the UD5???
If not, then the UD5 is an excellent choice for an X58 mobo..
I have great news, so be happy guys!! Direct news from Taiwan has arrived
Just not sure yet if I can spread the full details yet, so I have asked again to be sure if I can let everyone know the full scoop or not yet.
Be assured though, what has been rumored is untrue!
I will keep you posted once I know if I can tell the full details or not
**************************************
And I MUST Disagree with the RMA comments as well.
I help MANY Gigabyte customers and so I hear about RMA's often and have never heard of any bad experiences, at least in the US anyway. Really I have not heard of any personally elsewhere either. Everyone says 2-3 weeks and things went very smoothly, that's all I ever hear. Sounds about the same as any RMA really, faster then some I think too.
Oh that's a relief, can't wait to hear, maybe there's a few extra surprises? Yay!
This is good to hear man!
Depends on what your needs are, don't wait for x58 revision if all you need is P55.
I need an X58-based mobo for VT-d, but for OC'ers etc, this feature is irrelevant.
Although some of the others guys may say you need x58 for OC reasons, I wouldn't know.
So Lsdmeasap have you heard back from your friend yet?
My wallet is getting really itchy! ;-P
If you are waiting on X58 then all I can say now is wait..... for sure!
Sorry I can't offer the details he shared with me yet as he has not replied back to me yet. He is busy catching up with work I assume.
Like I said the news is good, he was in a hurry when he replied to me as he just got back from a long business trip, so not sure if he meant for me to share the details of the news yet or not.
Don't worry, there is not much details to it really, I'd just hate to say anything if he did not want me to ya know.
Just wait though for sure though if that has been your plan all along :)
Wait i thought the 24phase model mobo's were canned ??
Good to know that, can't wait for the details. It won't be long before you'll tell us right?:D
I wonder why the guy who works at OcUK is posting on the forums there saying that these boards have been scrapped then...
My intention was to wait until these new mobos have been released and see how the early adopters get on with them first before I decided to grab one, I am more than happy with my current UD5's, so I really don't NEED a new board tbh, but if they have better overclocking potential than the current ones, and allow more than 222Bclk without the PCIe hardmod, then it might be worth my while selling on my current one and getting one..
Though like I said, I will wait and see what happens first.
It is really bugging me though that people who work at OcUK are telling everyone that these boards aren't getting released anymore...
man im getting tired of waiting. i really want the new GB ud5. money is burning a hole in my pocket.
He has not replied to me again other than to say they are not making what he has told me public just yet, I suppose for a big surprise on P55 day.
Like I said though, wait for sure if you are wanting a new X58 board that is all I can say. I am not sure if I should even say that much really.
Okay np thanks, when is P55 day?
I do believe I have read the 6th, 7th, and 8th now at various places about P55 release date? So not sure, sometime this week though I do believe
tomorrow
oh sweet well then we'll know tomorrow what the story is, FINALLY!
Cheers
tempting...
Really looking forward to EX58A-UD5 for my i7 build.
Pfft is that it, stoopid windows features?
I'm not even using the board to run windows...
Guess we'll al know soon enough! :-)
Hicookie testing EX58A-UD4P
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=233810
Hmm, wonder if that'll get him into trouble?
Would have to be under a NDA if that isn't a photo-shop job.
Tomorrow cant come soon enough, someone post the official news in this thread please!
the problem with the last boards was the cpu's ran hotter than other boards, about 3-5c higher, both idle and load.
Any idea when those Gulftown chips will be getting released stasio?
excuse me folks, a little question i have for ya.
in the pic uploaded by hicookie, in cpuz, motherboard tag, it is seen that the board
uses the OLD revision of the X58 chipset. that is strange, no ? second gen board uses old chipset revision ?
the new X58 revision ( SLGMX ) should be 13, not 12.
take a look here :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=232730
Here's to hoping the revised boards aren't night and day better. I've had to do a semi forced upgrade and opted for the original UD5 but from what I've seen so far it shouldn't disappoint. I do remember reading about these in June/July though and I drooled over them a bit. I don't plan on any overly aggressive clocking so hopefully the UD5 does me justice. 24 phase does sound pretty bad ass however.... "You want moar powa?! Get moar powa now!!"
im going to be getting a UD5,should i wait for this to be released?
@radaja, if I were you I would wait for these mobos to become available, but if your money is burning a hole in your pocket, and you want to upgrade now, then there really is nothing wrong with the current UD5's, they are really good boards, the only reason I wanted to get one of these is for the simple fact that they shouldn't have the 222MHz Bclk wall that the current ones do, you have to hardmod the current boards to get past 222 Bclk, and I am hopeless with a soldering iron, so there is no way that I would even think about attempting the PCIe hardmod myself!
If you don't plan on pushing for more than 222 Bclk then the current UD5's are awesome boards, I have got 2 of them here, and I love them!
When you said tomorrow is the release date for P55 (& by-proxy the ex58a launch)
What actual date in which time zone did you mean?
Surely that should have come round by now?
Admittedly I'm 16hr+ ahead of US east coast (need to check)
I can see plenty of news about the p55 launch so it looks as though it's happened but nothing about ex58a.
Cheers
aah..
Yes I have reached "tomorrow" Finland time is now 8.9.2009 and clock time 22.55
Is someone pulling our leg? I'm not really surprised that the EX58A boards weren't announced on the same day as the P55 boards (too much together!), but why would Gigabyte have informed OcUK that the range had been cancelled if they're really still under production? I'm hoping I'm wrong -- I want one of these boards as much as the rest of you! -- but I have the feeling we are all going to be disappointed.
It was only a Gigabyte rep that told guys at OcUK about the boards being scrapped.. I really don't know what to believe tbh, so I am not going to get my hopes up..
If the new boards arrive, great, if they don't I won't be that bothered, as I already have a UD5..
I just want a board that doesn't have a 222 Bclk wall like this one..
I am thinking about going for a Classified if these EX58A boards don't arrive soon anyway..
I am getting bored of OcUK boards today, all this P55 hype is doing my head in!
Hopefully it will calm down over the next couple of days.
I would never take you guys for a ride!!
And my contact would not lie to me AT ALL, nor would he have been taken for a ride either. He works at Gigabyte Headquarters in Taiwan, and is the Technical Marketing Manager so he would for sure have correct and valid information.
Sorry he did not say exactly when things would happen concerning what he told me, but again it is not canceled. He told me around the same time, or the same time as P55 Launch but like I said that was in July and things have changed a bit since then so there may just be a delay
Maybe now the OP on this topic can answer you as to what he meant by ? One more we can't advertise yet ?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=233598
Could be related, not sure, but I would PM and see as I looked and do not see any listings for anything out of the ordinary at MicroCenter
I do believe OcUK may have been informed correctly or partially anyway, by the wording mentioned above by _SBradley_, but they had just misunderstood what Gigabyte really said to them about it all and so has the wrong idea about what was really meant by what they said.
I'm confused, what do you mean July?
The latest update you gave us from your 'friend' was on 01/09
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0&postcount=54
cheers
This is prolly just a P55.. If they were going to release a revised x58 range surely it would be before or on the same time as P55 not after...
Hmm, I'm giving it one more week and then I'm moving on.
Not blaming you for anything, just find this whole smoke & mirrors thing silly.
Cheers
