everyone hurry up and get your results in, lol Im getting ready to get a D0...as weather I go I7 or Xeon is another? Everyone has their opinion of what stable is. I say if you can run 24/7 for a month straight or more, is all I need myself...lol
I myself havent runb intel burn test, but I can do anything I want along with WCG 8 threads and F @ H on multiple gpu's for months 24/7 without ever crashing; if thats not stable then; I dont know what to say.
anyway get your results in. Im going to MC in a few hours, lol

8 hrs of prime blend right? Any other settings?
no screen shots...no go.
Also change the i7 921 to i7 920 on your spread sheet :)
Also, stepping is key. D0 vs C0/C1 is a huge difference.
Why does it need to be 8 hours ? I need a nuke power plant on the back of my house. Might move to chernobyl too. Does f@h or something like that take into account :rotf: ?
@Bill Prime 95 V2.59. There are different downloads per OS i.e. 32bit, 64bit.

It's questionable if IntelBurnTest fully loads 8 cores when hyperthreading is enabled.
Never really cared for all these newcomer stability tests myself. OCCT is the newest I accept personally. When testing cpu/system stability I do 1mb then 32mb pi then 3DMarks 06 & Vantage then 1- 2 hrs OCCT then 8-12hrs prime. 32Mb pi is mostly as quick extreme overclock test because it can now be completed in 7-8 minutes vs the 13-15 minutes it use to take. Also often a cpu could pass 32mb pi but crash on 3DMark cpu test. I see the purpose of this thread, "true system stability" and I welcome such a thread. I've got a couple batch #'s with 8+hours of prime to report and I'll post them after I finish my D0's stability testing.
billdavis, I've done threads like this before and they are alot of work. Don't get discouraged because we appreciated such effort. It's your thread, you set the parameters to make the database. Anyone who doesn't agree can simply not submit an entry.
Thanks The Nemesis,
send the oc's
It isn't the length. 8 threads of IntelBurnTest will only load the cores approximately 50%. If using this as proof of stability Task Manager or something similar should be included in the screenshot while IntelBurnTest is running to show the loaded state of the CPU.

Not a big fan of prime for 8 hours, (waste of cycles that could be crunching :) ) but saw this thread and thought I'd try to contribute. I like the databases, gives you an idea of what to expect when you're thinking of upgrading.

It looks like D0 is generally a lot better than C0.
Not the highest OC, but a law-volt one for keeping it  . Can be a useful 24/7 OC when the summer heat hits.

Its funny because my i7 920 d0 was stable at 4.3ghz with occt (3hr), prime95 (5hr), then i tried this linx people have been talking about and my chip failed within 7 minutes, i was well suprised. I've noticed the temps seem to go a good 3-5C higher on all core with the linx over occt and prime.
Superb program, haven't tried intel burn in test yet, is it any better then the above mentioned?
I've had failures going from Prime to LinX but never the other way around. If I could do 20-pass LinX test with All memory Prime could keep chugging along for a long time...
is anyone updating this database
yes, I am.
i will try to update daily.....i somewhat have a life.
I test my memory through Memtest and Memtest HCI. I don't think there is a need to waste time running through Prime. But, I'm sure we'll never agree so let's just agree to disagree :)
The only changing factor there that I see is Uncore since it needs to be much higher. There are other ways to check your Uncore stability besides Prime as I said above. I run 4GHz Uncore for day to day even with my DRAM at 1600MHz completely stable. Tested for a very long time.
prime and occt are old .. for intel cpus one should use Linpack or the LinX gui version.
it should be noted that Linpack is made by intel fyi.
On the Air Cooling, it would be nice IF we can specifiy whether it is the True Black or True Copper. Just saying "True" is really confusing...
This thread makes me wonder about all this members showing incredibly high overclocks but non are prime stable? I was expecting more people to show their stable overclocks here.
Wow, there's a new stepping with SLBJE! Check first page and first CPU posted. But I'm sure it's just a typo.
yes this is the real test people have always and will always run there unstable high clocks and wounder what happened when they can no longer boot to there OS because of corruption...or just blame a OS for stability problems your oc is good man i had a qx965 on phase that i could only get stable 24/7 @ 4.2/3 ghz so the i7's biggest advantage is there ocing capability
just my opinion, but thread probably would have more entries, had it been done six months ago when people were excited with new i7's and running prime when they first came out. I have a 12+ hr prime run in my sig..last link in sig from december 2008 (and several more at higher and lower mhz), but dont have all info that is required, and too lazy to find it. Also, I need 2 notches higher vcore to run linx 10 run with 5gb ram versus prime stable. And 14 hrs vs 25 mins of linx for same info...I lost interest in prime. I will in future only be doing linx to find stable OC's...though once I have my 24/7 setting via linx, I might run one prime run for kicks just to see if I can reduce vcore, though at some point in future even that will stop.
When I get my new i950, I will be excited/motivated again with a new toy, and will post my results here if do an o/n prime run, after getting linx 20+ runs stable at max 5gb memory.
there is no apostrophe in CPUs!!

Why are people putting the Xeons down under SLBEJ? they are SLBEW's.
I need someone to do tests for the Xeon 3520 3845A935 please! On air preferrably. I just got mine in and thats what it is. I think its a good cpu but would like to find out more before I open the box, plus I have to wait for new mobo as well
Would also like to see 24/7 stability; not sure 8 hrs of prime , occt, or whatever classifies as stable.
come on guys, more results please
Are you saying you want to see 24 hours of prime? Even 8 hours is a waste of time. LinX tells you all you need in way less time. I only ran 8 hours of prime to contribute. I have been running wcg, 8 threads 24/7 since I posted my screenshot.
24 + hours of any of these would tell me there rock solid.
just my opinion tho
I was just thinking that I have seen or experienced 8 hours of stability testing, but cant run 24/7 for an extended period of time.
If a system can run for at least a month straight 24/7 then I would consider it stable. I havent run stability tests in a long time, but recall in the past running stability tests for 8 hrs easy, but sometimes wouldnt run for a full 24 hours.
I know its a pain to run tests for a day or more. and in your case if it runs fine 24/7 with no issues then I would say its stable.
I myself couldnt come up with a better solution, so I guess 8 hours works, :ROTF:
I just know there are a lot of bench junkies that could probably prime for 8 hours but doesnt neccessarily make the system fully stable. I thik this thread should be to help others see what they should be able to expect for Truly stable machines; which I hope and feel that is how its turning out, which is great

billy ure right
i tested again now with my new cooling
need more vcore for prime95 blend custom 5.4gb than linx 100 runs
prime needs 1.26v, linx needs 1.25v
prime with 1.25v will fail in 2 hours.
so prime is the benchies for i7 for full stability
go this setup last week, new cooling i got yesterday, i'll have atleast 4-5 hours of prime when i get home from work, if i HAVE to have more, i'll do it over night. max temps so far is 73c on the first core, others are at 70/71/69, cant seem to get 4ghz to boot further than running memtest, which it will run for hours, but as soon as it sees the OS loading screen it freezes and reboots. i havent tried any multipliers past 20 as the bios says between 12-20.
also, does anyone mess with the ioh voltage? im trying not to mess with things that will destroy my system, but i would LOOOOVE to see 4ghz, even if it's just for a day or 2 before i get back to 3.8

People, Linpack should be run with HT OFF. That's why you seem to be fine in Linpack yet fail in Prime. Linpack is one of those apps that are so well optimized for multi-core CPUs that Hyperthreading actually lowers the scores. Let Linpack utilize each physical core to the full extent. That'll give better indication on stability as well.

I must be imagining this then? Sorry, it's 1.16, not 1.15. It was 4am so I'll blame lack of sleep! :) One thing I noticed with the 2 Gigabyte boards I've had, higher VTT actually reduced stability. They ran best with VTT as low as possible.

Thanks, I have the 760, the one w/out NF200. Yea it's kinda tough in florida ambients are always real high and AC not usually kicking because in order to cool the computer room the whole rest of the house reaches freezing cold temps and everyone complains lol. It's just lot's of tweaking to try and get the best temps. I think I can get it higher but taking a break for a bit, the 4.5is nice because everything still works properly including sleep mode. Gonna go for 4.6 next!
interesting fallwind.
hmm testing a evga 760..
found out that the eleet voltage and everest read voltage is way different
eleet is just a bios setting voltage. not a read voltage.
interesting to see how much difference with a dmm.
also found the trick to bring down my vcore for 4.2ghz back to 1.25v.
and now testing 4.3ghz 2050 C7 ,4.4ghz 2100 C7, 4.5ghz 2150 C8
Hey Bill, you got my QPI/VTT and CPU volts mixed up there. And also the 4.5 was with regular Corsair Dominator 1600mhz. My Dominator GT's bit the dust...second set of them to die in 3 weeks. I think I might just stick with the regular Dominators until something more reliable comes out.
Thanks
8-8-8-24 mem stable now.

I'll have to dig up my 4.51Ghz LinX/Prime stable screenshots whenever I have a chance.
For those who run LinX, may I ask why didn't you use up all the available ram for the stress test? I saw someone also had 12GB of ram but in linx he only tested with 1GB?? LOL max out that sh1t and let it rip yo!
Nice chip you got there! is your OC stable in LinX as well?
Thanks. Yep, I usually start with Linx to get in the ballpark and it's rather predictable...3 different processors and 2 different sets of ram always 2 notches up on vcore to get Prime blend stable after Linx.
Linx is rough regarding temps but is easy as far as stability goes about the same as Prime Small FFT's.
Need moar fans! 3 is not enough for my rad :ROTF: This is best I can do with 1600mhz ram...maybe can do more if I get some 1866 and 3 more fans for my rad to do push pull but taking a break for awhile!

The chip still could do better but anything above 1.4v Vcpu and turbo throttling starts. Multi drops from 21 to 20.
I don't understand why ASUS hasn't fixed it already .
Finally updated my post. lol
