First i7 920 D0 Step @4710Mhz HT Enabled

Yes not as good as other i7 920 D0 steppings in terms of vcore needed - but runs alot cooler than alot of D0 even with high vcore applied :D

Pushing my i7 920 3851A368 D0 to the max with HT enabled now. Seems cpuz validation is higher than my i7 920 3836A756 C0 when HT enabled - 4710mhz vs 4669mhz and D0 also has slightly higher max HT Enabled Super Pi 32M cpuz speed - 4685mhz vs 4618mhz. Only difference is for C0 tests I used single 8800GT while D0 was using 2x HD4870x2 Crossfire installed.

Like my C0 stepping, this D0 seems to handle high vcore with relatively low temps !!!

System:

• i7 920 3851A368 D0 stepping
• EK Supreme LT 1366 / FESER 480 / MCP655
• DFI UT X58-T3EH8 04/28 beta
• 2x HD4870x2 Crossfire (Powercolor + Gigabyte flashed to Asus Top bios) with ATI Win7 9.4 (8.612 WHQL)

I see u have 3 OS's, which do you find i best for benching, vista 64 or win7

I just got win7 RC and have been using Vista 64 for a while now and like it, but was wondering

the SLBCH c0 stepping i have does this at 1.3v 75C max core temp

the first d0 stepping i put onto the same rig with same bios settings is running at 1.175v so far and it's prime stable at 68C max.

for super pi 32m winxp > win 7 > vista. But i do all my initial stress testing in win7 64bit rc before xp since it can tackle all 6GB of ram in tests :)

The D0 needed 1.215 to enable turbo and run prime 95 bumped temps upto 72C

just ran the another D0 3845b071 and that failed to post with the same settings as the first one so i know which one i am going to use.

eva, what do you have your PCI-E frequency set to in the BIOS when you are going for these kinds of high(ish) BCLK's?

nice leejsmith - much nice cpu for vcore requirements than mine :)

for up to 228bclk, PCI-E between 100-104mhz. For 230-235bclk, PCI-E 110mhz.

It should give you about 2-5 more BCLK .

i'm a noob, but i thought that i7 920's multi was 20? how did you get 21?

On most OCable board, they allow you to choose 21 as the multiplier as well.

running 4870x2 cf so limiting how far i can push pci-e frequency hehe - with single 8800GT can run up to 115mhz pci-e but didn't help much but that was with c0 not d0 stepping cpu

Yo had a really exceptional C0 chip, so your gap is not that big with the D0.
I had a good c0 chip and the gap for me was huge, it goes to 4650Mhz easy as pie.

Currently managed to push it all the way to 4740Mhz (on Water, see my signature) though still limited by the board.

You need to polish up your Spi32M result :p:

Yeah vista and win7 are around 10-20 seconds slower clock for clock than xp. I'm running win7 just for stress testing before moving to winxp. IIRC on winxp my 32m pi time is around 7min 46s @4620-4650mhz so about around that mark. I suspect 4685mhz 32m pi in xp OS would be around 7min 40-44s without copy waza etc.

vista is not that much slower :D

My run includes most tweaks (some service disabled, RAM Drive, Maxmem and large cache), no Copy WAZA/CDT were performed, I never get them to be working properly :shrug:

I compared 3850A795 to 3851Axxx and whatever the 3850 did, the 3851 needed 0.1v more to accomplish, it was like that all the way up to 4.4Ghz, I don't how it scales on higher speeds.
I don't know if it is going to keep that way, we will have to wait (for newer steppings) and see.

Yeah 3851Axxx do seem to need more volts but so far bclk, uncore and mem frequency on them is very nice i must say heh.
