T-Virus Inverse Res...finally
-
wow .. how did it glow internally? ccfl?
-
Wow that is so cool! So much better!
-
Yup...internal UV ccfl...and I even made it so that it can be changed if it dies. That way I don't have angry people.
-
WOW .... turned out great
-
I'll have a few more done in different colors by the end of the week
-
Argh! Now I want one of these too.....man frig, I wish there was a way to add fluid to the outer section of mine just for looks.
-
-
Little clarification please.. why is this called inverse?
-
Do want in red.
Not sure where I'd put it but still.
-
nice I'll pm you soon when i get the cash :)
there *could* be red versions right?
-
Very nice.
Definitely liking the look of these more than the originals.

Because here the coolant surrounds cast fluorescent acrylic rods, on the old version the coolant went though the spiral tubes.

You'll find somewhere :D

THere will be red, amber(orange), blue and green
-
I forgot to mention the other three will be finished over the weekend...so pictures of those to come Monday.
-
Very nice work.
Whats' the top made of?
-
so the spiral tubes are solid acrylic and are not hallow for water to flow into, the water is held just like a reservoir w/ the spiral tubes & CCFL as decoration?
-
Yup, and the tops are aluminum but they DO NOT touch the coolant.
They are there just to look amazing and cover up the glue joints.
-
you could definitely sell these at retail if you wanted to
just the reaction from this forum is amazing so in general it will be accepted very well :)
good job and good luck
-
I am going to be selling them. I do them all custom privately for now, but soon I am opening a full shop for these on my website.
-
I'm so down for one of these, glad i waited for the inverse model, PM me when your ready to sell em man..... Wow.....
-
UV CCFL in the middle huh? There a UV green spiral version coming? How much of a price difference between this one and the 1st version? (via PM if necessary)
I might, just might, have to dig up extra cash for that, the "bling bling" side of me is coming out again, lol!
-
ugh... i cant see the pictures at work... :(
-
-
now this is something I was looking forward to where the lights were more EVEN looking vs before all the light was at the bottom and it faded out the higher the buting was.....impressive this one it is.
-
Now the question is, how do you put 2 of these in a MM UFO. hmm.
-
Heya Alex, how old are you? When you talk about school, you mean high school? Or college/university?
The work you are doing is spectacular!

. . . .damn you are just a baby . . .and the rest of us old phartz . . . .can't believe you have that much skill at such a tender young age . . . .it will be scary to see what you can do once you have a chance to get some hardware under your belt
-
Thanks man, I'm working on that hardware part = D
Table saw for my grad present...
Just bought a drill press, grinder, sander, etc
As soon as schools out...expect to see a lot more things from me. I have a folder...of about 20 different things I want to build as soon as I get the time. Ranging from full case mount liquid cooling systems (kinda like the Koolance things...but much more intricate) as well as reservoirs that function as active radiators to increase performance.
If only there were more hours in a day I would be set.

-
Absolutely amazing skill you have. DB is right, I'll bet you are going to be coming up with some incredible stuff. Just don't burn yourself out before you even get started whatever you do.
-
Looks awesome! I might have to get one for a future build. UV in the center is a great idea, UV fluid must glow like mad!
-
-
Frozen,
Wich blue fluid is this?
-
What a wicked difference indeed. I wonder what it looks like with just Distilled water.
-
the pictures from before were with just distilled water
thats just blue food coloring...works extremely well in small quantities
-
 Need to replace my memory....Getting old! Stop making fun of us old farts you bastage....Where am I?!?
-
-
I'm far from old, only 20 myself. But I have to concur with what the others are saying.
If you can make this kind of stuff now... You'll be up there with the greats before too long.
Keep it up, and I love the T-Virus theme, HUGE RE2 fan here.
-
i like the comparison shot
is it possible to get a comparison shot of just distilled water with the light? I wanna see how it would look if one were to not add any dye
also what are the specs on this?
how high, whats the diamater, etc...
thanks :)
-
9" long, 2-3/8" diameter on the ends
-
I should mod my Jager tapmachine to use on of these for a dispenser

Wow thought my memory was short. Look up a couple posts for the answer... You must be older then me then!
-
are the rods going to be colored in the colored versions? like medium to dark green that glows bright flourescent under CCFL? that's the look I'm hoping for

I could have used the search function but this thread was active and was just as fast and for anyone else reading who doesn't want/know how to use the search function its helpful to have it in the thread so it wasn't a waste of time :)

Great work. Makes me want to go watercooled lol
-
I wish i could get mine right away, juts to keep on during the night so i can dream how my rig will look like after done :)
-
How long do you plan on making these?
-
They do look awesome, well done young man you will grow up to be a Cyberdruid lol. Pity you are in the States, postage and import duty would make it dammned expensive. unless you are doing wholesale :)
-
How much fluid do they hold?
-
-
damn if there was ever a reason to go watercooling. This is it :yepp:
I love it. i don't suppose you'll say how much one of these will set my wallet back? ^_^
-
-
thats actually really reasonable. not what i'd expect for something so sexy. i wasn't planning a rebuild for another 2-3 months or so. hope you're still producing these then ^_^
or maybe something even better =D
-
is the inside spiral glass or acrylic?
i didn't find this info
-
They are solid acrylic rods.
-
are you both working on it?
I thought it was just Frozen.Q's project... probably mistaken
are you suer its 110? :S might be a bit of stretch for me now
-
frozen i am lost once again on trying to figure this out
the spirals is where the water is going to and at the top it is falling into the center? So how can the CCFL be in the center?
-
Nah Kiwwii, I'm just sourcing data from another thread . . . at another forum =p.
On the inverse t res, the water is in the cylinder and the double helix is solid acrylic. On the original t res, water went through hollow tubes to the top. Not sure about the ccfl.
-
The ccfl is sealed away in a tube of its own.
^^^ you are correct, the water just flows in the cylinder around the solid cast acrylic helix
-
How much of the "T virus" does each res have?
-
any updates? also do you have an estimate frozen.q for the price?
or is what momijTMO's guess pretty accurate?
thanks
-
It depends on what your getting him to do. Each one is pretty custom so basically just PM him and he can quote you on what you want.
-
Exactly...thanks.
I will have a picture of the green one up tomorrow at some point. As I mentioned, my shipment of the fluorescent acrylic got pushed back to monday, so I am kind of at a standstill with this kind
-
It is pricey for a res . .. but they are hand made and they walk all over other res in terms of aesthetics.

No!!! That sucks:(, if my regular one is done though I am gonna have to pay for double shipping now:)
-
-
I really cannot, my PC has not been finished since March 6:)
-
Damn, that looks sweet, man! Really Beautiful!!!
Can't wait when I get mine from you man! I've been waiting! Project is almost done just waiting on the Rad and this!
-
-
God I need to stop coming on here ...... "pulls lint from pockets"
@FrozenQ
That stuff looks insane, great job

yea, would be a shame to hide it in a comp, want to mount it on my wall :yepp:
-
pfft... nubs, you're all nubs...
FrozenQ,
here's what i'd like...
seal the bottom
seal the tapped holes in the bottom
open the top... all of the top...
increase volume of reservoir to 1.0 L
and add a nice thick handle...
i needs me a new bee*hick*r mug!
:toast:

Waow these look ******* sick! Massive kudos Frozen Q.
-
Wow!!! Q man, that is beautiful!!! So if I put a white ccfl in it would glow white? or is the plastic UV colored?
-
So, how can we order these? What sizes will you build? Whats the lead time and when can i get mine :yepp:
-
There is an order form on previous pages. Dunno about time, length, etc but ask in this thread.
-
Replied to pm's
And I really apologize guys, instead of receiving fluorescent acrylic rod...I happened to receive a full resin casting kit. In other words the company completely screwed up, and now I still don't have the material.
-
So does that mean another week or 2? Or are you stuck with this?
-
Well, I called and pretty much told them to get with it, and I needed it for the weekend. So, I am hoping they send it 2 day. I have off on Friday and I was really looking forward to getting like 10 or so done.
-
lol well stuff like that happens :p:. Not your fault.

lol
Sometimes makes you wonder how they get stuff mixed up like that.
-
Dam this is one of the coolest looking things I have seen in a while!!! I want to get it so bad but have no use for the thing at all :slobber:
-
Alright, finally have everything in order. I got the correct shipment of fluorescent acrylic from the plastics company, along with all of the UV lights for the inside of the reservoirs. I will begin work on a whole batch of reservoirs tonight. Thanks for bearing with me guys.
-
Woohoo, good luck to your hands =___=.
Take it easy :p:
-
Thanks man, I can't wait till the amber acrylic gets here, I just ordered some yesterday. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing that one the most. On the other hand, I will be posting several pictures of blue green and red res' with different colored end caps in the next week or so.
I think I have decided to temporarily retire the standard t-virus reservoir. I just can't seem to get them to come out perfect for a multitude of reasons. The Inverse res just looks sooooo much cleaner and is more practical in terms of fulfilling its purpose as a reservoir. So maybe they are more expensive to make, but its worth it. I would rather make less money and give everyone nice reservoirs than make more money and give people subpar ones.
-
Can't wait to get mine! Need to couple it with MurderMod frosted res holders, for ultimate sexiness :)
-
Ohhh. . . . god damn it, how much are they?
EDIT : Oh well, having boring clear water won't really take advantage of clear holders.
-
Correction, issues once again.
I have all of the acrylic now, and they are already all cut, sanded and polished. However, the shipment of lights came....there were two pair in the box and the rest were put on backorder. I will make all of the reservoirs for now, but I will have to wait on some of the lights for the rest. Does anyone know where I might find the AC Ryan Overboost 8" UV CCFL's other than on FrozenCPU and Performance-PCS? Both companies are out of stock now, and I am not sure if there are any other companies that make 8" UV lights like that.
