Also 7 ghz this morning...
Posted on xtreme overclocking but not a lot of people cared....
Hope it's true...
Good god. AMD is beggining to be awesome!!! :))
7.2GHz with only 2 cores.... but 7GHz with all 4. That's nuts.
Really pumped to get this thing once my board supports it.
Very impressive to be sure. Someone else has a >7GHz score as well I see.
Epic Win
This is awesome. This is making me lean towards a upgrade :)
Very nice OC!!!
what the hell?! that is insane.
welcome to 7 ghz everyone, on 4 cores at that :worship:
congrats to the team in question, but this beggers the question,
'are we going to run out of multi's?' lol
dare i say it, 'beat that intel'
Amazing.
Pentium 4, 8220mhz, will AMD break it soon? Perhaps not with 955BE, but with another CPU?
Hope AMD breaks it, cause I hate that crap CPU being on top of the hertz mountain atm :D
You guys can really give and not take, Is it ok to mention Intel in a AMD thread if you are being negative? Sad really.
Just to mention that core i7 is the fastest cpu ever made and the best overclocker when not using liquid nitrogen or helium. Man it must be nice to hit 5ghz on air? what would that even be equal to? 7ghz ph2?
Only taking the mince meat a bit
hat time..
For two years I've heard nothing except the AMD guys complaining about the Intel guys coming into their threads and bashing the products.
Now that AMD has a excellent product the AMD guys start bashing Intel in their own threads.
C'mon, act like adults.
You can be happy with the product you like without baiting the other guys.
Whose the guilty party then?
Let it go. I know, he started it but you don't have to take the bait.
My own opinion is we can all enjoy what both companies bring to the table.
Both have excellent products out now so buy what you like and enjoy it.
You really can't go wrong with either companies offerrings.
Agree MM, sorry. Just seemed to stink of hypocrisy.
And on topic, congrats AMD, Fantastic product and worthy to be in any rig.
Its fake, 36x is not possible
I was wondering but I wasn't going to say it.
Also seemed to me that the first we'd hear from on a speed like this would be the guys from Finland as they seem to be getting the very most from the AMD chips and I think they are at app 6700mhz and thats a long bump to 7200..
how do you know 36x is not possible. maybe amd fixed a bug and bam it works. wouldn't that make sense?
How? Every review of this thing people haven't been able to really get it above 3.8Ghz it seems like. Did new BIOS help or something?
@Movieman
i really wasnt bashing anyone, this was pure jest, hence why i added smileys
ansd we all know about the pentium 4, 8 gig, so really they were ahead already.
but in open fora, i do apoligise if any comment i made offended our intel brothers, long live Intel :D
and while we are at it, just for the record i have 2 intel rigs here, (used to be 3(including laptop))
but you just cant beat a nice smooth AMD gaming rig, lol im joking please dont hang me........
I respect your meaning MM, but I disagree. We were having harmless fun with a notrious poster's posting habits, I don't see any bashing of Intel products in our posts. And, we didn't go to the Intel forum to do it. The only negative product comments in this thread came from someone bashing AMD in the AMD forum, which is par for the course.
Guess it's possible. AMD had already said they hit 7GHz in the lab.
Its not possible because S3FD said he could never achieve more than 31x on his chip Here
You may see it that way but it isn't how I read it.
Let's put this to rest and hope they did nail the 7GHz.
That would be nice to see.
I was lucky enough to watch the guys work their magic on the AMD chips out at the Xs party during CES.
I got to meet Macci,Sampsa and SF3D.
That I'll remember, sharp guys and boy do they know their stuff.
And yes, I also got to meet Dr.Who..Francois Piednoel.
That was also something I won't forget.

28,5x multi...
I'm sure this wasn't done on air or water, it had to have been some exotic cooling. With exotic cooling these chips get much higher than 3.8. Also that is going to be a suicide run, I'm sure it wasn't prime stable at 7GHz.
He might not have been able to get over 31x but that doesn't mean someone else couldn't
CPU-Z validation bug I suppose is possible.
ok i totaly overlooked the x36 multi issue, i have the DDR2 version of this board here and the multi goes to X35 max, and another member here, who i bow my head too, SF3D, has stated that he just wouldnt believe anything above x31, this i tend to belive.
so now the two questions that are naggin me,
how did they get to x36 multi?
and secondly, how did this get validate by CPU-Z?
another question, if x35 is the max multi on Phenom II's, why didnt CPU-Z see the x36 as a fake when validating?
Good point. Dunno.the one ceemic posted is more plausible I think.
whats the limit in AOD3 using a 955?
then why has k10stat a limit of 47 ?
You all think they only used the multi to overclock??
A FSB of 300 would require 24x for 7.2Ghz
Where is the promised 7ghz Nehalem OC? :D
I'm still waiting :cord: :cord:
idk if 6.3ghz has WR for 3dm06 i would think 6.8~7ghz would be tough to beat ;)
I never promissed 7Ghz, i promissed to win all Benchies , and It does ... 7Ghz was put in my mouth, never said it. I know perfectly what It can do, and 7Ghz does not seam possible yet.
What matter is instruction per Clock x frequency ... You use to like this song.:yepp: The 955 does not even beat the old Core 2 Quad extreme ...
Just teasing you dude ... Take it easy, If you knew me well, you would know that it is all fun, nothing negative. (I am out of here, I have nothing to do here)
Ok, then it must have been the press that talked BS about promising 7ghz.
But performance per clock aside (which off course is most important), 7ghz would be an awesome goal to achieve, for Intel or for AMD.
I know you're just teasing, no hard feelings lol
Looks at thread..waits for the blood to start flowing..
Decides to go outside and shut off the PC for a few hours..
very nice, i watch at some chinese forum...
not entirely...

Amd Dragon :)
personally i dont think the phenom II is gonna make it much farther than it is now. these records seem questionable because for a long time no one has gotten anywhere near 7ghz and now someone has gotten 7.2 ghz? whats the difference between the 940 and the 955 besides that the 955 might be better binned chips?
lol yea i remember right after amd hit 6ghz or something intel said so what we will hit 7 and then when they tried for 7 they got 5.5.
really im not sure if this is legit or not but even if the bios doesnt have a 36x multi im sure theres plenty of software that can do it.
Its fake it can't be done from Bios O Noes....oops ok maybe it can......unless the multis don't work.
http://members.cox.net/nfridenti/IMG_0980.jpg
doesnt have to be from bios. look at the aod shot charged posted. that allows for up to 47x.
 nice, but Phenom II need to proof 4.5GHz stability with air cooling system that enough forme:p:
what about custom bios if there is such a thing
guess ill need to find out the hard way
Come on guys, those multis are for phenom II 965 :p.
@ Chew: Mate, you got me beat. Not enough cold in DC (where I'm at now) to push clocks hard enough. Jumped on the i7 bandwagon, but card is sold :( Anyway, I'll take that advice and start saving for the 4890s. Cheers.
Yah man I think they will do better for you.
Amd guys above, max you can do regardless of bios or AOD is 31.5.......

C'mon Zucker, create your OWN cold. Crank that AC up
Ok guys ,the two first validates from first post are removed from hall of fame.
Now there is only
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=556849
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/banner/556849.png
it is still very impressive. the last validate looks realistic with 28,5x
It'd be really funny if that as*hole kardkris was behind those :D
As Mr Hardman said ,this is not possible(the multiplier ,not the OC). The OC in >7Ghz territory is very possible and will probably happen in near future, but with lower multi (in the hardware-allowed zone).
250.01 MHz x 28.5 ≠ 7127.85 MHz
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/556849.png
Its normal, CPU clock is not all time stable exactly 7125MHz or so...
Strange is, that 28,5 x 250,1 = 7127,85. So the cheater made a little mistake? :D
I'm reviewing the 955BE and had one board die in the process. I'll have mine up as soon as I get this replacement Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P installed and updated. I tried overclocking on ECS' enthusiast board and could only get to 3.8GHz on stock voltage. There's a huge gap after that. It requires a crazy amount of voltage increase to be stable at 3.9GHz. I may have received a bad one, but I was a bit dissapointed that I couldn't go above 3.8GHz given the hype surrounding this processor. I'll let you know what I get out of the processor on the Gigabyte board.
How may I ask did you kill the 790 FXT.........
We have put it under Ln2 for well over 50 hours........16 hours at a time.....used an insane amount of volts and have only suceeded in Damaging a SB, note the word damage ( and this was due to extreme condensation on a humid rainy day, ram slots filled with water, PWM soaking wet...... ).......the board still works great until you ask it for 2700 HT speeds............in crossfire X..........
At least in my experience, the overall clock speed doesn't always match up perfectly to what HTT * Mult would suggest. It may or may not be a valid submission, but that aspect of it doesn't rule out the possibility of it being legitimate.
Luck of the draw I suppose. I bought the first one at Fry's because Gigabyte had taken awhile to get back to me. I fired it up with the exact same parts I used in the ECS board setup. I was having the mentioned USB keyboard issue so I needed to update the BIOS. I'm normally opposed to Windows based BIOS flashing because of prior bad experiences, but I noticed that overclocking and other things meant for the BIOS have been shifted in recent times to Windows based programs. I had a good experience flashing the ECS board BIOS in Windows so I thought I would give Gigabyte's tool a try. I selected the newly downloaded BIOS and clicked start. I instantly received a BSOD. When I went to restart the comp to try again it wouldn't post. I tried clearing the CMOS, taking out the motherboard battery, unplugging the system, nothing worked. The computer would power on and just run the graphics card fan at 100% without going any further. Needless to say, I won't be flashing in Windows again if I can avoid it.
So for all intensive purposes, it died. Rather than tinker with it any further, I took it back and Gigabyte sent me the one they were going to send anyhow. I'll be opening it up and installing it tonight.
Just try to recover it by booting with the mobo cd in your cd player, it might flash it from there, worth a try. ;)
OMG! 7,2GHz on Phenom II it´s Crazy. Now i´m yust waiting for absollute record on AMD 8,3GHz
better wait for 10ghz.. What it calls? 1 Thz? lol
^1000Ghz = 1Thz buddy...
Guys its that screenie true , 7127.85Mhz or is it another cheat like the same guys did before 3 times cheat in the row ???
I would like to know
no one knows but based on the fact that no one has come close to that number and that the guy has already cheated multiple times id say its not correct.
Still some very impressive overclocks have been made by the new AMD chips which make me excited!
