Quote:
Per Pepsi, "Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback will be available nationwide for about 8 weeks beginning April 20″. We previously reported a release window of April 20-June 13. Technically, 8 weeks would be June 15, but again, it says "about 8 weeks", plus you have product that will be on the shelves after the release dates. (Then again, if these prove popular, they might not be around that long!)
Mark Ficher of the Dayton Daily News wrote an article where he asked Pepsi, "what if consumer response is overwhelmingly positive? Might Pepsi change its mind about the limited-time offer?"
Their response? "We'll have to see."
Where do you buy this? I must go hunting now!
Gonna have to buy some.
looks like we are going back to 70's style wavy colors lol
i want to try the pepsi and see if still has a lot gas and sour taste, thats i liked coke cola it was sweeter
mountain dew is definate buy
seriously, where can i get some of this?
i think i'm going to go raid my local grocery stores.
They're running this through part of summer and it's available most everywhere by now. Alternatively for those in the US, just hit the local Mexican market or even the "ethnic" aisle of many supermarket chains, where you can buy Coke made with sugar in glass bottles (imported from Mexico). Not cheap but it's worth every penny.
You know there weren't as many fat people in the 60's~70's. Why is it you only see fat people drinking saccharin/artificial sweetener filled diet drinks ?
Both drinks are great. They sell them here at Walmart in the coolers, but not the actual drink aisle.
I found it in Raley's in Sacramento. I knew it was coming out for a while, and thought I made a thread here but I guess not.
yep..I nearly made a thread about this. Im strongly against HFCS in cola..and hunt down cola with actual surgar. During passover I stock up on Coke for passover in the 2 Liter bottles. It's almost gone now..this store near me still has a few pallets though.
then I heard about pepsi doing this promo for dew and pepsi..and drove to like 8 stores..finally found some..this was last week..when the distribution was crap..now I have seen it in more places thank god. I bought 6 cases.
during the off season i only buy soda from whole foods...their store brand made with cane sugar is cheap..and taste good..the rootbeer is the best!
Jones is another brand..but it's hard to find around here..so I just get the Whole foods cola...
I hope pepsi decides to continue Throwback..it taste much better. I didn't care so much for the mountain dew..but in end I don't really drink HFCS dew ever..nor have been a huge fan of dew period..it's good though...just nothing great.
the pepsi is really good though. The way it should be.
oh if anyone want's help finding Throwback
go onto Twitter and search for #Throwback
there is a running list of people posting locations where they found the beverage.
it's hard to find still..even after it's slowly come into markets. It seems wal-farts..is the best bet. that's where I have the most luck
Smiths, Kroger..non of them have it yet..even after 8 days.
Heck, I stopped to pick up a Mtn Dew at a "party store" as they're called here in Michigan and didn't even pay attention to the old school "Mountain Dew" label, to me it just meant I was going to get what I wanted (heck, it's a familiar look for Mountain Dew)! Then as I was carrying it up to the counter I noticed it was the throwback. I even held off from popping that peppermint gum in my mouth to experience the taste... I didn't get much out of it. It wasn't as much fun as when the fountain dispenser at the gas station near work is running rich ! yum ! LOL
Mountain Dew comeee tooo thheeee UK!!!!
Sugar-water now with real sugar! Rejoice!!
:shakes:
I saw these last night at Homeland and picked up a pepsi and mt dew for $7.00 for 2. I tried the pepsi and really didn't notice much of a difference. Haven't tried the mt dew yet.
I'm trying the Pepsi and it tastes a little sweeter than normal...but I still prefer coke. :p:
Excellent. Yeah it ain't (just) the glass bottle that makes the Mexican Coke taste better. :)
Had another Mountain Dew throwback. Maybe a hint sweeter, but still not like that rich-running dispenser at the Speedway by work... yum !
Insulin injections, here I come !
Yeah.. With these being accessible I kinda broke my vow of only one soda every two days. It's now two sodas every one day.
You can buy Mexico Coke
Which is made with real sugar year round, and comes in glass bottles!
Would anyone be mad if I were to say I'm enjoying one now?
Try again at your local store. The Walmart here finally stocked liters and 12oz cans. The liters were already sold out.
I have been looking all over for this stuff. No where around me can I find one. Apparently the state's sugar colt is buying out as much of this stuff as they can get, which may explain why all my store shelves seem to be empty. Hopefully I can find one.
Guarantee that people are stocking up on it now so when it's no longer sold they can put it on Ebay.
Last time I saw it was at the Cub Foods on York across from Southdale. In the "ethnic" aisle at the bottom, next to the Jarritos which are also always sugar and not HFCS. They seem to be hit and miss at that location. The Mexican grocers always have them, though. La Alborada on East Lake is the one I have in mind but there is another on 25-ish and Nicollet whose name escapes me and another in St. Paul called El Burrito Mercado or something like that.
Basically, it's what's sold in Canada (except the Mountain Dew has no caffeine in Canada) - we don't let in your corn syrup drinks. Our versions are still made with sugar, unless I'm mistaken on that.
Since I just moved down I'll be buying a years supply in a few days from a local Schnucks.
That's still so strange that you have to get the special Mountain Dew in Canada to get a caffeine jolt. I'd forgotten all about that, what did they call the Mtn Dew with caffeine ? Mountain Dew Max or something ? Strange place....
I looked for some yesterday in Pa. but, No Joy.
The only reason HFCS is used in the US so extensively is a tariff on cane sugar designed to protect some 1100 sugar beet farmers. Cane sugar here is just plain expensive relative to other nations which makes products like HFCS incredibly cheap by comparison. Canada has essentially zero sugar beet farmers so no need for a tariff.
Canada also produces very little corn (less than 4% of US corn production) so importing HFCS historically has not made a lot of economic sense there, even long before it was understood how the body processes it leading to obesity and diabetes among other ill effects.
I didn't know we ever had a caffeinated version, but I could see it. The reason is that we have some law stating that only dark-colored drinks are allowed to have caffeine. With that said, I don't know how the energy drinks get around it unless they fit in to some other, special category with whoever our food and drink guys are.
Oh, and that's another thing I noticed - we may not have caffeine in our Mountain Dew, but at least we know how to spell the word Mountain (unlike on your "MTN" Dew) :P
how many MG of caffein is in Mountain Dew btw? random Q I know?
This should answer that :D.
Honestly, it is so little caffeine I don't know why people make a big deal about it. Of course, I used to drink 8 espresso shots before work so I may not be the best barometer for that.
I just got some of both today, the guy was still unloading it from the truck. I haven't tried the Mountain Dew yet but the Pepsi definitly tastes better.
bought another 3 cases today. Only had 7 on the shelf.
the pepsi is so good, man I hope they continue this formula
corn syrup:down:
It is very good.
Found it at Target in St. Paul and in Roseville.
Mountain Dew is something really hard to see in Spain...you don't get to see it everyday because people just doesn't buy it (i'm not sure i've ever tried it).
BTW, I'm curious... is all the coke and pepsi sold around the US taste the same? It's curious but here in Spain it's not...
PD: HFCS, whats that?
Love the Pepsi throwback. That is some quality soda lol. :D
The Mountain Dew tho I really don't care for. It sorta tastes like Moonmist but also kinda tastes like MTN Dew mixed with diet MTN Dew. I defin could get used to it tho.
coke with real sugar in can owns everything that and cheap gas is what makes me stay in my country LOL
I had to buy a throwBack and a regular Pepsi and take a sip of both to notice the difference. Can't say I preferred one over the other.
Dr. Pepper has been doing this for a while...... they said it was gonna be limited, but my gas station still gets it :)
