This is one nice board.....
Managed to get it pretty stable at 270x10 1:1 6,2,2,2
Took 3.64 Volts on the memory though ;)
Now I just need to get a decent video card....

For anyone interested, this run was done with a Chaintech 5900 Ultra @ 462/938
Wow what drivers are you using? You should use 44.03, even my Nature is 149 on my system and its not as strong as yours.
damn that's sweet. i'm jealous
how high did it go without all the volt mods. i have one hear for review that no matter what i do won't go over 220fsb even with bh-5 known to do 233fsb. the only thing i havn't tried yet is dropping agp8x and upping the agp voltage.
any tips for those far behind?
Very nice Shuttle power there!
excellent SuperPi time too :)
Soulburner...I did a run with the 44.03's at 267x10. It was 24,600ish (link below in my profile)
Flytek...220 seems awful low unless your cpu is topped out on air or something???
With no mods I could do atleast 240x10 with the 2.9 volts the board offers on the mem....
Thankx for the nice words Jason....I read your guide the day you posted it way back when.... I might give it a shot next weekend as I am only home sat and sundays for the rest of this year ;(
Wow great results. Makes me feel that much better about ordering one last week ;)
take a look at what i did to this board ;) http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7209484
my car high and lobby scores are evil :)
watercooling for my radeon coming this week , then i will max out cpu and ram and see what i can go for :)
2600 260 1:1 at 1.65vcore and 3.35vdimm
Thankz Macci...that means alot coming from you ;)
I was looking on the orb, and it doesnt seem that anyone has done any testing with a clocked 5900/a64....
Looking at DJ's 5900 score versus his 9800 score it seems that the 5900 can be faster...
My friend is using LN2 at his machine shop for some specialty parts he is making, and told me I can have some.......hmmmmm.............
Nice job with such low volts Horus...keep it up!!
Well if you want to play with one i've got one here for cheap you can have. Will do 510/920 no mods before locking up in 3DMark on the stock crappy air cooling (75c core) so id say its got some potential if ya wanna play with it :toast:.Quote:

i will max out my stuf when my radeon is cooled and at some serious speeds
so it at least was worth it when i fry something :)
shooting for 280 1:1 hehe , we will see :)
it could have been done for 2 weeks already but the shop i ordered the cooling stuff at messed it up
u cant dl it
i requested it from shuttle and they mailed it to me :)
i upped it on my webspace http://www.black-legion.de/athlon64/shuttle.zip
dont tell me u testing the shuttle now too ? ;)
well it seems shuttle just updated their bios database today
u can download a new an50r bios there now , dont know if it is the same
seems to be a new one , but no documentation
I just got mine today. Doesn't seem to like Win2k. Jsut blue screens after the windows splash screen. Going to try XP see if that works.
impressive :)
Damn Jason....you got a nice little side business going on or what?? ;)
Soulburner....what are you asking for it?
Dogman...mine did the same thing...had to reformat, then load.
If that still doesnt work, try playing with your memory timings.
YGPM.
finally my watercooling kit arrived lol
and well , my radeon 9800pro is the worst u have ever seen i think ;)
its running quite cool using a triple radiator with 3 120mm fans only cooling the radeon
even at 1.95vgpu i cant do 500mhz lol
well i ordered 3 new 9800pros , i wont give up this time ;)
Well jason....got a little more than the 25.6-26k you suggested :)....just popped a 27.1 on just ice water....I cant figure out the memory on this damn card....it goes to around 970-980 at stock voltage, and all the way upto 3.5v doesnt help it a bit....
anyway, I think a 28k is gonna be pretty easy with some better cooling and a little tweakin...
Whoa!
looks like nVidia cards work better on nVidia board or sumthing :D
or maybe there just optimized for AMD??
think about a 5900ultra doing that run at say 700/1050 clocks :D
nature alone would prolly give 400 marks extra
Well macci... I have looked at dj's 5900 versus his 9800 pro scores, and it seemed that the 5900 was faster to me... ??
Anyway, I think I am going to throw some dryice into some antifreeze or something and try for 650+
28000 should be pretty easy i am thinking...I sure wish I knew what the problem was with the memory though ;(
Hey horus...I see your upto 268 1:1 know!!! Keep up the good work man!
hmm maybe I'll give 5900ultra another try.. maybe it can take higher AGP speeds than ATI too :D
VIA based K8V still seems to be the fastest mobo clock to clock.. and if the 5900 ultra can take the AGP bus at 265 1/6 it should give some nice results =)
the FX has no problems in tests like drago and nature but it hurts in system tests...for some reason the GF has more drag on the system
yea that car hi of 126 at 270x10 1:1 looks funny indeed =)
I think that GF4 would give better car hi..
Great Job MikeM....
Let me keep my spot by 8 points...thanks :D
C
i will push it to the absolute max when my new 9800pros arrived and i seletced a good one ;)Quote:

Hey horus...I see your upto 268 1:1 know!!! Keep up the good work man!
but i allready got some major problems cooling the athlon down at those speed and he needs 1.9v cause he just heats up that much
my mach1 is short before blowing up at those vcore and speed hehe
chillcontrol showing -28° and cpu in bios +12°
running above 0° he just needs much vore volts to run stable , producing much more heat
i think 2700 1:1 i need about 1.95v or some luck to run it stable @ 1.9v
memory is doing the 270 @ 3.65v allready tested it
maybe he doesnt even need that much but i just wanted to be sure ;)
i just hope i will get a good 9800pro doing some nice clocks with cold water ;)
well at least one of those 3 i ordered should be fine ;)
Im assuming that there's a vdimm mod already for this shuttle mobo..... just found out that I cant get the Gigabyte K8N[pro up here in canada so Im gonna see if this mobo is available........
Mikem and horus, do you have a link to the vdimm mod on this beauty? thanks......
vcore and vdimm
here http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=192&s=1
Well Charlie.....you get to keep your spot after all ;)
I threw 10 pounds of dry ice into the antifreeze which took the card well below 0c, and I am having MAJOR problems....maybe one run out of 20 well go at full speed, the other 19 are being throttled back. If there is a work around, I would sure appreciate it. This card just goes down to 0c and stays there....it doesnt start back at 255 like on some. I did get it to go a couple times at 670 core, so i know it can run atleast that high....oh well
Mike, have you tried the thermal throttling workaround posted by MM? And damn, 10 pounds of dry ice in the res? Wouldn't you be pumping a lot of bubbles into the block? I can imagine your whole res bubbling like mad :D
If you mean the workaround where you let it warm-up to 0c then reboot....mine just goes to zero and sits there...it never resets upto 255...?? Maybe I dont quite get it......
I am also not using a water-cooling setup full-time....I usually just fill an ice chest up with ice water and a submersible pump, and just run a hose to the block and back. Today I filled the icechest up with antifreeze, and dropped 10 pounds of dryice into the chest so that the antifreeze got way below zero. It seemed to work pretty good as the mc50 block was completely frooze over.
I also just put the block on my old asus gf4 and popped a 21k ;)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7231566
Thanks..... Im sold, this is the board for me:DQuote:
I've tried that, throwing dry ice chunks into my chiller res and it did get quite a bit colder, but my whiole res was bubbling like mad heh.Quote:

Just got the board and flashed the beta bios ( thanks Horus :toast: ),
So far so good..... can someone point me the the right direction on how to unlock the multi? for some reason I thought the new bios unlock it lol..... thanks.....
I heard that too, but have yet to find out how.
There are software proggys that can get the job done....
clockgen works on the multies and nvidia system utility on the fsb
i cant find a clockgen for the NF3..... theyre all for via chipsets..... will thoise work?
MikeM et al.,
I'm looking at trying an A64 3400+ with an AN50R. The CPU should start trickling in next week, do you still think the AN50R is better than K8NNXP? What kind of RAM do you need to run 270+ 1:1???? So on super Xtreme cooling 11 x 275 = 3025 1:1 at 2,6,2 would pack a better punch than the FX-51 I'd say...
Ok...I see, it's Mushkin LevelII Pc3500 2 x 256mB...@ 3.6V... nice.
C
Charlie, My AN50R was good till something died lol....... I like the an50r because of the easy vmods and reading the vdimm at bios instead of reading from back of the mobo...... if there's one thing I dont like is the 280fsb limit on the bios...... 300*9 running 5:4 would have been sweet......
luihed--> What broke on the mb what settings did you run and at what volt (vcore,Vmem, etc)
But for running MAX 1:1....280 is plenty...
C
:( me want
Charlie...This board simply rocks for high fsb action....the mem voltage is derived off the 5v rail instead of 3.3, so stable high vmem is no prob....Honestly the easiest high fsb overclock ive ever done.... Wierd thing...I can hit 2700 with only like 1.8 volts....The cpu seems to like cold much more than it likes voltage.....2v doesnt allow me to go any higher at all.....I think we should trade mb/cpus and you can get 280x10 and I can play with that fx!!!!!
To be honest , I dont know what broke..... worse even is taht Im not sure if its the mobo or the cpu thats toast cos there's no way for me to test them........Quote:

Was doing some testing at 270fsb 1:1 after I did the vdimm mod and around teh third run of 3dmarks, it crashed..... didnt bother to reboot cos it was getting late and in the morning, she wouldnt boot anymore:( ............
Couple of things that I can think of is one, I was feeding it 3.6v on the 3.3v line :am: , forgot to take off the mod on the PSU...... a buddy of mine Corrupt fried his board too and he's also running 3.6v on the 3.3 line as well........
2nd thing that could have happened and I hope its not it, is the same thing that happened to MrIcee.... he said he fried his chip running at high fsb....... or maybe it was high vdimm that he was running...... I really hope its not my cpu cos I can afford a new mobo but cpu is another story......
Edit: Vcore is at 1.7v and vdimm was at 3.65v........
Sorry to hear about your system....Could the problem have been condensation???
I lost my first a64....I later found out that my motherboard had a short in it....I got lucky not to lose my second one finding what the problem was....
I was still using stock cooling at teh time, the run was at 270x8.5........... Last week was a bad one for me... First I lost an hyperX running only at 2.9v then day later I lose a mobo.....all this will be worth it if I hit 2700mhz though:D
MMMM i cant wait to get my shuttle. Weird that its such a good board :D
The board is good but unfortunately the monkey behind the keyboard is not lol...... youre gonna have fun with the A64 bro, this thing is so fast.....
cant ......wait....till....christmas....
MikeM,
So what was your MAX 3d benchable speed?? 280 1:1??
Are you on a Prommy?
C
Be forewarned: I took out the mem controllers (or more) on 2 A64's inside 2 weeks trying to run the 3.5v-3.64v that others are running on the AN50R at 270-280Mhz FSB 1:1. I assure you I'll no longer be using that kind of juice to the memory any longer.Quote:

Of course that was on air and not Prommy cooled...not sure if it would make a difference. But please be ultra careful if you try to run high memory volts as others have to achieve high 1:1 FSB.
Randi:D
Thats tooo BAD News.......
I working now with 3.17 VDDR to make possible Mushkin Level 2 RAMS running on 250 - 260 FSB 1:1 without errors......
I am on STOCK AIRCOOLING by AMD and i want to know if this will be the reason of a future damage on CPU.......
Still waiting the EXOS Socket 754 Clip to install back my watercooling.......
I dont understand why that would hurt the cpu running up the mem volts mr icee.....wierd....I have shoved upto 4v at mine, but 3.64 gives me 270.....beyond that my cpu is maxed.....I have run 9.5 by 280 very stable. I only have a unmodded mach1...I think going colder I could hit 280x10 as my cpu does 270 at pretty low volts. I guess you need to stick to your name and freeze the son of a §§§§§!!!!
Charlie....270x10 I can finish 3dmark completely 90% of the time....272x10 is max possible with alot of luck.....
MrIcee, it all makes sense now cos I just got my mobo from rma and it still wont post..... I guess its the cpu then like you said:( ........ now my problem is how high is too high and at what temp? ....... I have a chiller, not agreat one but nevertheless something that can keep my cpu below 0c, so how will I know now how far I can go without frying another cpu?
Do you guys think this is a Motherboard problem or a CPU problem? If its the mobo i might jsut go for the gigabyte.
Honest guys, I don't know why I lost 2 CPU's at the same volts you are using, buy I did. Both no posts, confirmed by putting the chip also in an ABIT KV8-Max3 and getting FF on my debug card on both boards. Think my next foray when the A64 gets here Friday is a little 5:4 action over 300Mhz FSB....you think that will level the Ti4200 class playing field when the Asus Ti4800SE arrives? ;)
Randi:D
could you rma it? it shouldnt crap out like that...Quote:

Damn....you guys are scaring me know......that sux....
And you leave my 4200 score alone damnit!!!!
No seriously....I hope you have much better luck with the new one..
amd said so in some pdfs that you all are ugly
im really confused with this whole mem controller thing on the cpu...please help me. Basically, if i understand correctly, amd can make the fsb whatever they want since mem controller is on the cpu. therefore they just make the fsb what they want the cpu speed to be right? and just have a multiplier of one? ie 2.2ghz a64=2200*1
Ofcourse I can RMA it but everytime you rma something that expensive you tend to worry a bit....... what pisses me off more is the down time cos Ive only got to play with it a couple of days......:mad:Quote:

yep...i hear ya....waiting sux. i need to put this 9800pro in a damn nf2 system with some pc3000 hyperx. im sure ill do well with a 25xx mhz tbred.
well good luck to ya macro. what proc did you have? just a64 right?
It can be a bit confusing because of the separate LDT bus(Lightning Data Transport) which in essence is the main highway to the Northbridge from the CPU ala the FSB from our XP and Intel systems.
The memory controller onboard runs at its own speed and is the basis for the FSB speed of the system, as we would normally know it from before.
The A64 uses a standard multiplier the same as an Athlon XP, in the case of the 3200 it is 10X.
The memory runs also in this case at 200Mhz, giving you 10x200Mhz= 2 Ghz CPU speed.
The confusing part for many newbs is the relation of the memory speed to the LDT bus between CPU and Nortbridge. When the memory speed is set to 200Mhz, the LDT is 4X memory speed equaling 800Mhz(On VIA K8T800 based boards). Effectively, in our "old" terms giving 800Mhz x2 FSB,1600Mhz, between CPU and Northbridge, as the LDT is also a DDR bus.
NOTE: On nForce 3 boards, the bus runs at 3X memory speed, or effectively 600Mhzx2 DDR or 1200Mhz.This because of a problem on nVidia's part of being able to implement the full 1600Mhz LDT bus speed.
So as you raise the memory bus higher than 200Mhz, so does the LDT bus go in-synch.
This is where things get sticky for overclockers, as the LDT bus doesn't tolerate excellerated bus speeds beyond a certain point, and in the bios it must be reduced based on LDT bus speed settings. On VIA boards its listed as 800-600-400-200.
On nForce3 boards its listed as a multiple such as 3x-2.5x or 2x etc.
So when you hear guys saying they run 270Mhz at 2.5 LDT(On nForce3)....it means the memory is at 270Mhz and the LDT is at 270x2.5 = 675Mhz x2 or 1350Mhz effectively between CPU and Northbridge.
This illustration is of a 1:1 scenario. You can also run the memory at 5:4 ratio's to attain higher FSB like Intel systems. This works very well on nForce3 boards because of the Locked AGP bus...but VIA and their lack of dividers makes high FSB running almost impossible.
Best regards,
Randi:D
I just noticed something interesting.....If I set my mem volts over 3.72 I get hard drive corruption, and my video starts acting up.....It doesnt matter if I am overclocked of not, right at exactly 3.72 and up this happens.....so there is obviously some connection with the mem volts....
tried 3.85v yesterday but it didnt help to get 275 1:1 stable
think my cpu was maxed out but its running pretty hot after a while too using a lousy prometeia mach 1 without r404
it just cant hold the temps down and so the cpu needs much more juice and it wont even last 1 full run till it crahes cause it runs hot
think with some better cooling i might be able to do 275 1:1 or even more ;)
i get hd corruption at 320fsb though , else i would have done 337 fsb 270 ram on my run yesterday
btw what tool do i need to do 560+ core on gpu ?
Looks like we are in the same boat Horus....I ran 337/270 x 8 without a prob (ldt at 2x instead of 2.5 though) and tried many benchmarks.....seems to be identical to running 270x10 1:1
hmm it really wasnt any faster ?
i did some tests yesterday 200/200 and 308/200 at same ldt multiplier
results are carhigh/lobby low/lobby high
200/200 98,6/281,4/129,3
250/200 100,8/285,4/131,1
308/200 99,9/284,6/130,3
at 308 it went down again , i lowered ldt multiplier from 2,5 to 2 i think but not sure if it wasnt 2 already at 200/250
