Did you look to see if the orange+blue impeller is in your 3.25?

EDIT: also loop conditions? The data, while telling because it's basically identical, is also pretty spartan ;)

I don't see any difference except impeller is orange inside and blue outside :shrug:

Flow rate is the same. What about max PSI though, it might have more head pressure?

What about a more significant amount of restriction?

Their PQ curves don't separate until lower flowrates :)

Interesting... based on those curves, there isn't really a meaningful difference within the range that our systems operate (aside from increased power consumption). I'd have to do up some curves with tops to compare the two...

Thanks for testing.

But darn, I was really hoping putting a top on there would have separated the two pumps more than what the stock curve is like. I'd still like to see a full pump curve at some point with a good top and both pump motors just out of curiosity...but this explains the real world results well enough, not a huge gain..

Oh btw martin your correct about the Primochill LRT tubing having the best bend radius. I compared it to like 4 different brands.

Wish I could take the credit, but that was Virtualrains tubing review that I was going off of. I do think I'm going to buy some of the primochill black and give it a try. If nothing else because they carry my favorite 7/16" ID x 5/8" OD in UV colors. After going distilled water/UV tubing, I don't want to even think about dyes ever again.:)

I've been preaching Primochill PRO LRT since I recieved my lengths in november.... Not only does it have the best bend radius but it also has super high durometer (much higher than tygon)

yeah the lrt pro is uber good...but have you tried the clearflex? it kinks..but heck i love it...oh well

Isn't the bend radius directly attributable to the high durometer? I thought the higher the durometer, the tighter the bend radius and the more torsion it puts on the blocks.

Well by durometer (at least as I understand it) I mean the "hardness" of the tubing when you press on it (the best way I can describe it)

Good question! They would be the perfect players interested in making a better impeller for the D5. I know we like the compactness of the DDC, but a redesigned D5 with better heat dissipation out the motor casing and a much improved pressure oriented impeller design, and we'd have something pretty neat.

They are probably just tayloring efforts on what sells the most, which I suspect the DDCs outsell the D5s several times over.:shrug:

I would like to point out that another difference between the two pumps, is that the 3.25 operated 8-13.2vdc and the 3.2 operated 7-12vdc. I'm sure if both pumps were run at their maximum voltages we would see a much larger difference.

When you start up loops with the double pumps like that do you prime the first one with some water and then run the second one or do you just turn them both on straight off the bat??

looks like they would both be primed at the same time. if i were running dual pumps id bleed with just one pump. but ive never tried so :shrug:

When I initially fill my triple-pump loop, I only use the pump attached to the res. Once I get a sufficient amount of fluid in the pump, I run all three since I've found the most airpockets/bubbles form in the pumps that are off (if the system isn't bled fully yet).
