I want that monitor.
I like your full-board cooling solution there :D
Me..Saturday am..
Varoooooom,screeeeech..:D
90 miles and 90 minutes later..
Knock,Knock..:D
Benching on mobo boxes is the in thing to do
Wow:shocked: That is a cubbyhole!
gotta do some sit ups:ROTF:
Its bigger than it looks ;) well unless dave walks in:rofl:
We can migrate out to here if need be, but i can't control ambients in the kitchen ;)
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer4/IMG_0539[1].jpg
So Chew which Mobo do you like better so far? Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P or Asus M4a79. BTW I like your current thread on the Asus mobo
The gigabyte is a solid board and athough it has it's quirks and some limitations it's still capable of putting out TOP #rs....and already has.
I however am chasing 3dmark multi card records atm so I need to pull out all the stops, 16x/16x PCI lanes included.
I'm waiting for the UD5P to mature a little bit.
You know, you could swing......err 2500 miles west and pick me up!
Now you can see a picture of an ES ;) Lapping not done all the way but good enough for testing, already killed 2 hours.....
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer4/IMG_0551[1].jpg
60L ordered, 30 Lbs DI ordered  making final arrangements and plans with those that were invited.
wow, this is a little more than some weekend fun...lol
i take it you guys will try and crack a couple of records here ehh?
i wish you the best of luck with it, and look forward to some meaty results
on a side note, do you have your own containers fro LN2 chew*? or just decant from the delivered container into flascs?
i have little over 30 mins left of my weekend peace, friends are on their way over, as i post, after that the beer runs freely all weekend
have fun guys
Renting 2 30L dewars, Apparently I need to get a ladel, msimax is supplying the thermos for pouring.
My pot isn't done yet so we are using Dumo's and msi max's, Mine has an ETA of 3 weeks. Might invest in a dewar then.
Will be running DI on my home made pot.
Hehe the vacuum is excellent. It was an ebay can with bad vac so I tapped and TIGged in a pipe fitting, then added a 1/4" swagelok w/copper tube, helium leak tested it, and fixed the leak that originally caused it to go bad. Then I heat wrapped it and pumped it out for a few weeks, pinched off the pump-out tube with a refrigeration pinch-off tool, and sealed the pinch with high-vac epoxy. Luckily the leak that caused the bad vac was due to damage on the outside (small crack) and there were no internal leaks (not easily fixable).
The cool thing is that once sealed dewar now is renewable vac, so if it leaks in the future, you could just hook a cheapo refrig pump up to it for a couple weeks and as long as you can find a pinch off tool to use, you are good to go.
Kinda handy working at a thin film vacuum dep. system manufacturer.
I was thinking on getting rid of it but now with these cheap, high clocking, cold-loving Phenom II chips available, it may find new life. I'll keep you in mind though if I do decide to get rid...
How is party going chew*?
Anything to share at this point or is it too late/early for you?
Good luck!
Let the Games begin!
Hmmm, phone call, people are running late, means I have to run around and do all the errands solo now...BBL.......looking like lunchtime before people show up now...
I am sitting here on the floor in chew's "lab" as msimax, Dumo, and Chew put the final touches on each of their rigs. I'll be playing the role as coach as I don't have my own setup to bench on. We are doing LN2 on two systems and Dry Ice on the other. Movieman will be doing the video in HD. Gotta go we are starting to pour!
Bout damn time ;)
We'll did you guys freeze yourselfs:D
Hello? Ive been biting my nails since Friday! Any results? Quit drinking all that beer and get your butts in here and post ;)
Hell of a day.. and great people. msimax, Dumo, and Chew, great to meet them all!
I'll let chew show the results but think SIX+...:wasntme:
Now as to video, I will plead the fifth on this.
Here I am trying to shoot screenies with 4 other guys in a 6x8' room with 2 machines on LN2 and one on DI..
Can you say cramped?
And as to msimax, you don't shoot over him. You move to the side and hope you don't get stepped on.
One big dude but one I will remember. Just good people!
Dumo is sharp, and a real gentleman to speak with.
chew is just one solid bundle of energy.
I got tired just watching him!:ROTF:
OOPS, forgot Enjoy.. Good kid.. All American type..
Has to be a good kid, he spent 4 hours in a car with me and still has his sanity!
Dave and I are home, the guys may still be at it. We had left around 7.
Overall the day was a blast with Chew* manning a dry ice rig, msimax running a an ln2, and Dumo and myself tag teaming a ln2 x4/gtx 295 system that was very responsive and very fun to play with. ;)
I won't spoil anything, so you'll all have to wait for the pics and vids to be posted later on.
lol, man you east coast guys....4 hours in a car, probably both ways? I cant travel across my state in 4 hours.
Anyway, sounds like you guys had a blast, cant wait for some results!
enough talking, show us the pics and scores!! :D
Forget the scores just thanks for not killing or maiming Dave, guys! We need that old bastich!
:sofa:................................wherdja put me beer go......Woot....Rsults found...Chew scratches head .......Need Dice to post results loll... Burp.
Sry ... I cant wait the tension is killn me .
well sampsa I think we got you beat on NB speed ;) lost 2 hard drives but I got that on HD video.
My Ln2 results will come In a few weeks, my DI results are consistent if anything I guess. My cpu-z validation was broken even at stock speeds, some one got to my HD before I got a chance to bench on a "FRESH" install and borked something  I couldn't even validate at stock clocks......I took screenies of everything though...
We just wrappped it up around 4am, I'm cleaning up and crashing......Pics,results tommorow...
*EDIT* well was gonna post them now, but my ISP hosting is being repaired so I guess later, While reviewing the screenshots I Noticed that my board apparently at some time Knocked out my timings on my ram :( , No wonder why I thought they were a tad low....O well....
Hopefully my other hd will rise from the dead...again:)
Thanks for the hospitality Chew:), I wish there a pizza joint like that in the city.
Its been a pleasure meeting Movieman and Enjoy.
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9...enshot005q.jpg

it looks like some pic corrupt to:mad: i beat my personal best pi then dumo top me then icame back hard but i know pics or it didnt happen:(
i also beat my personal best in nb clocking:D and 3d06 single 06 4870x2
so chew thaks for hosting if and when you another one im there dude:up:
damn that drive im gonna comatose
:hrhr:
It was a great day. You guys keep hearing me say it's all about the people and it is.
You walk into a house with people you've never met and it's not like that at all..no feeling of "strangers" ..
Then there was chew's rottweiler(sp?)
Here I am sitting on the floor with this 80lb beast with her head in my lap looking at me with the expression of:
" You stop scratching me and I'll have you for lunch!"
my o6 run in win7
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/9723/screenshot033.png
i also had 11.451 but currupted:mad:
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/8623/screenshot026.png
You guys had a blast, looking forward to the sreens. Msimax, nice result man but what cpu/nb clocks?
Wowee 3D in win 7.... ,.Nicenesss.
Heehe , I cant wait for the HD version of you guys,, .
Dumo, i hate to burst your bubble, but do you have any idea why that validation is rejected by CPU-Z? Unknown CPU maybe?
im gonna have to invest in some better ln2 pots:fact:

Any noticable improvment over the c1 ES chip with the c2 ES?
Webspace is finally back up.... Enjoy next time it will be your fresh install that gets abused ;) ( It was industrial espionage/sabotage :ROTF: )
So I started out around this speed, Mind you I was not under LN2, this is all DI, home made pot.

There is a little inside competition going on between Msimax, Dumo and myself.....when limited to phase or DI. The race to 25K 06, So I cranked up the heat a little more :D Almost 25k.
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/061.JPG
Somewhere along the line of chasing that 25K my motherboard changed my memory timings....didn't realize till I started looking at saved pics :(

http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/5050.JPG
I think this is a DI WR for an amd chip..
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/5150.JPG
One last run with PI 1m.
http://members.cox.net/bostonreefer3/PI%201m.JPG
What did I do? F7 wasn't working for you? Worked for Dumo and I. ;) You have to make sure the cpu-z window has the focus, then press F7 on the keyboard, and assuming your keyboard is transmitting the keystroke it should deposit a validation file in the cpu-z folder.
Time to go and unpack the car and post my pics I think! :sofa:
All validations even at stock 2.4 gig show up as corrupted...and refuse to validate :shakes: Etc my 5.2 validation is gone.....Most likely due to bluescreening attempting that 4.3 on air with the 720 BE and TRUE, Even reinstalling Cpu-z did not help, most likely the registry is/was screwed.
Not a big deal. Would likely get rejected for Unknown Cpu anyway. I would have taken a screenie though had I known.

Dang....either that refrigerator is reaaaally small, or msimax is reeaaally big..
I cant see the top of my fridge!
Awesome thread! Thanks for the virtual tour into the OC Highlands! Great work.Glad to see AMD has got a winner.
EAST COAST ROCKS
Some very nice results! :D
This is just the beginning, running 3 systems at once although sounds nice in theory is rather hectic.
Future plans are in the works and next time I think we will focus on one system as it just makes life simpler.
I however think if there is a guiness book of world records for the most hardware and people overclocking at sub zero temps in a 6' x 10' room we would be #1 :D
I just got my hands on ddr3 so hopefully I can delve into this department as buying high performance ddrII at this point in time doesn't make much sense. All my results were done on a low budget set of OCZ golds.....
Don't have to thank me ;) the TRUE was more than thank you enough and will be put to good use. Glad we could finally meet up in person.
The Mrs. well No one could ask for someone more understanding and patient. The kitchen is "her space" without her help and patience, yesterday would never have happened as I was a tad short on funds.
I must say that the stars of this show were the cpu's, they are very very resillient and can take quite a bit of abuse......as for some of the reports floating around.....I was cranking 2.2-2.3v to my golds.......and we pushed up to 1.9v ( we ran out of volts  ) into the cpu's and everything still works fine......
Behind every computer geek/techie/OCer, there is a very patient Mrs. I know my wife puts up with alot from me...."What did you buy now?", "ummm, computer parts."
It appears that 3d run would place me as 17th in the world for 06 2 x 4850's ;) I'm just getting warmed up, next up LN2, and if needed voltmods and chilled cards :D
Enjoy, Fresh install seems to validate fine now.

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/9103/p2070052.jpg
reserved for T - 3 weeks and counting? ;) POT should be here by then, I will give it a go as soon as it does to see how it handles the load.
Just checked the footage, caught a few things you guys lost so no biggie, My 5.2+ validation was caught in realtime as well.
still looking for stuff

Got you covered on the 4600 NB speed shot, Gonna screenshot it while viewing the video on my rig ;)
thanks
Pot is done, now i just have to wait for it in the mail.
1200 grams

Crazy stuff!
Looks like you guys had a blast.
If only you could tell us which CPU that is, I like that it shows Opteron in CPUZ though :p:
where's a pic of dave? Glad you guys had a great time
I managed to fit all of him in a few clips on HD video :ROTF:, you guys will see it soon enough.
Found something I forgot to screenshot, 3d05  2 x 4850's.

Teasers until I can get high quality shots from the video, I took these with my camera while viewing the video in HD.

Very nice pot chew! Have lots of fun with it.
Already getting set for your next bash:woot: Thanks for the vicarious OC:D
Haaa i know the fealing!
Great Job Chew and Crew:D
Amazing results and the Volts too,, I think PHII can handle it very well i must say.
You definatly pushed the TwilightZone of AMD. hahaahaa 3-4am. OMG:woot:http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...ierra/thbb.gif
what can i say? congrats i suppose, on a wonderful all round fun weekend:up:
nice to see pics of all of you, and some fantastic screens and shots of benches, dumo's 6 gig in under 30 secs....lol.
but yeah i see you all, but no movieman? so he is a ghost after all?
i look forward to the video now, thanks for posting the event
Hmmmm seems my golds took a dive :( my fault, I crammed 2.3 into them, won't run 5-5-5-15 1066 stable anymore, probably why the board backed off my timings.
Looks like i'm gonna have to grab another set of ddr II.
that doesnt seem to much of an overvolt 0.1v ? i take it they use 2.2v for EPP 1066 mhz 5-5-5-15?
and i dont think they would ruin that quikly also, bios issue maybe? had a go with them in another board yet chew*?
i will be very surprised if it is the ram
yah they are rated for 400 5-8-8-4 2.1v SPD  no biggie its just the spare set I have are the duds from this set.
I can still work with them though for now as you will see in a second.
Felt the need to redeem myself.
Guess I lied No rest for the wicked or weary.
New aquamark 3 WR for 2 X 2600 pro's in Xfire comes home to AMD, kept a backup at higher clocks in reserve but a 25K lead should be fine for now.

very nice chew*
i was never a fan of the 2900's (or any ati for that matter) but very nice to see this coming back to AMD
was this on the M4A79?
Here we go aquamark 3 WR hd 3300 IGP 3k point lead ;)

Oh man, you know we should do a big shindig in the midwest somewhere. That way everyone that wants to come could meet halfway. Somewhere like Omaha, NE.
I have family in that area, we could probably borrow some space from them, and whoop it up!!!
