( Simple Test ) ASUS M4A79 DELUXE AM3 / AM2+
-
so the 790FX NB cooler is huger compared to what's on the M3A79-T deluxe
a few bios tweaks and it's faster now. I still need to see some vista 64 bit score.
-
Very nice looking board.
Can you tell me what the vCore is? I recall the M3A79-T was vCore limited to liked 1.7 IRC. So I had to do a vCore mod.

this board have jumper OV CPU...DISABLE up to 1.7 VOLT and ENABLE up to 1.9 Volt..:)
-
the cpu score disappoints me.
amd boards seem to score less in this.
more in the GPU points.

????

What cooler are you using? and what kinda temps at load??
-
renamed m3a79-T with some small tweaks, unbelievable assus brings such a new board.....
-
It looks good.
But I'd prefer a ROG board from them with an AMD chipset :)

Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking,
no reason to upgrade this time for me at least :ROTF:
But THANKS Hazzan, as usual for showing us what you've got!

@Frontl1ne : Thermalright 120 Xtreme + FAN 12CM ULTRA KAZE...:)
@Lastviking: Retail Box 0850 CPMW same with Beny Have...:):)http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=214676

I like the NB heat sink but if you have a lot of SATA drives and hard ware use 3 2 slot cooler video cards you can have trouble with that board . They
should have made all the SATA ports on a angle .
-
I was going to ask where the overvolt jumper was but then found it next to the three SATA ports. That big heatsink on the NB now has me rethinking the need to change the cooling on my M3A79T.
-
Well I like your overclock on air...seems like not many people have been getting that high here. Yet some have on newegg...
Not impressed with the board really it seems just like the old m3a79-t deluxe basically and the new gigabyte setup seems alot sexier, feature rich and heres to hoping it performs as good or better.

What new Gigabyte board do you speak of, I haven't seen any new ones lately for the AM2+ or new AM3.
-
i´m wondering if the bios is compatible with the m3a79-t deluxe.
just like it was with the intel boards p5e/maximus/rampage.
-
Nice mobo there om Hazzan:up:
-
This makes me mad. You Deneb guys are having toooo much fun!

He's probably talking about the AM3 board that was discussed here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=214207
Best layout i've seen so far but i'm a bit wary of Gigabyte after their lacking support of their AM2+ boards

Its funny you say that, cuz I was thinking that having some straight SATA connectors would be useful :D
Its a massive pain on the M3A79-T to get to them always because they are ALL angled. I hate them :ROTF:
well, you know what they say.... difffnrt strokes for difffrnt folks
And I still wish they would put a CMOS reset push button on the board, instead of that annoying jumper. I feel like a car mechanic each time I have to excavate for it

Hazzan - Could you take a photo of socket? I would compare it with ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe.

I am a bad ..:p:
I am looking for a good AM3 board and might tri a triple core AM3 when they hit...I can't see any huge reason to switch out the M3A79-t yet,
Edit: Hazzan, I still am impressed. thanks for the info

Nanohead
The angle one are easy to plug into (HAF932 case ) heheheh .

I made my own :p:
and on the angled SATA, in my current case, they are a pain. But it all comes down to setup.

There's the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (rev. 1.0) - their first 790FX/SB750 board AFAIK
and
a 790X/SB750 board called GA-MA790XT-UD4P (rev0 1.0)
both DDR3.

Hazzan, what RAM and vDIMM are you using there? 536MHz at 4-4-4-12 looks killer to me
Cheers

I was going to wait on the MSI AM3 board, but since the 945 (now 950?) was pushed back until at least april I decided to just pull the Trigger on the M4A79. Sorta wish I had grabbed an Open box M3A79-T for 130 but watcha gonna do.
-
Well the M4A79 DELUXE is here & there are quite a few diffrences bettween this & the M3A79-T if you look closely enough.
-
Installing vista right now... takes FOREVER.
Oh and ASUS still uses 30 year old bubble gum as "thermal interface material" on the chipsets. Took quite some time to clean off. And the whole heatpipe assembly is feather light. Probably not a single bit of copper.
-
afireinside you are back on AMD again I see :D.
I remember your AM2+ Athlon 64 tests back in the day,you had a fun time testing it back then :).
Good luck with your testing
PS vista installation is the most boring process of all lol
-
The Vcore is rock solid, it just never moves at all.
Just ran OCCT had 0.00 ripple on all voltages except the ram with 0.02 ripple.
I would say that the bios needs maturing a bit as changing some things from Auto like CPU/NB vcore just makes it plain unstable.
Pity its going into a friends build because of PCI & PCIE slot arrangement & only seeing 4GB of my installed 8GB of ram & the loud popping power up sound going the through my Creative X-fi Pro.

Its a fantastic board.
But for me to get what i need, i will would have to sell my ram at a silly price & buy new that will do 8GB on this mobo & get gfx card specific single slot water blocks so that i can use both the PCI slots.

Don't really care about stable or not, as long as it can finished benches.
Here 3Ds...

Lookin good Dumo! What cooling? Single stage phase?

Hmm... I generally have instability with CPU/NB volts other than stock. For instance if I change from "auto" to 1.4V now, my OC will go from stable to BSOD. HOWEVER, there was one combo with 2700mhz NB speed where increased voltage brought stability. I really don't know... What I do know is that I can't OC my NB worth crap. 2700 is as far as its gone :(

I get the same problem moving my CPU/NB volts other than stock.
And 2700 is also are far as i have gone.

@ AFI, Its phase ss.
Try add more on NB/CPU and NB volts.

Wow Dumo, is your cpu really running at 4.5GHz on 1.38Vcore?

I was able to get in AOD 2.1.4 under Win7 and 0903 BIOS.
-
I'll try out AOD 2.1.4 then. I run XP x64, but that shouldn't matter guess.
Edit: yes AOD 2.1.4 worked like a charm.. seems to be some trouble between 2.1.5 and M4A79 Deluxe MB's then....
