ASUS P6T Deluxe (X58, Core i7)

Hi all!
I have been testing this new ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard few weeks now. Results are very promising and overclocking is as easy as it was before :up:

Here are some specs:

* LGA 1366 socket
* Intel X58 + ICH10R
* QPI 6400GT/s (Giga transfers)
* Triple channel DDR3 1600(OC)
* Turbo V (Software based OC utility)
* OC Palm (Hardware/software based OC utility/contoller)
* 16-phase power circuit for CPU
* 2-phase power circuit for QPI voltage

The NDA end day was under the NDA. Cheers for telling me when to take my coffee and glue my eyes on my monitor.

Like we haven't seen the P6t a million times before.

The manual for this board has been openly available on Asus's website for at least 5 days and probably longer. Lot's of good info in it.

I'm still not sure what board I'm going to pick for my first i7 build. This one's high on the list and so's the Rampage 2 Extreme. I haven't bought an extreme edition intel processor before, but i7-965 will probably change that to maximize my options for playing around with the new system. Hopefully it's only a couple more weeks until the NDA expires. :D

I think we're already well past the slip of the NDA lift date and the confirmation that it slipped out which basically confirms that was the real date all along.

It's a little late to play it off now. Nice try at the recovery though. :)

For everybodys info: Pictures of static X58 boards are not under NDA. Performance data and some in depth specs are though.

there are pretty much full x58/i7 reviews on several asian, one french and one uk website, plus tons of benchmarks, pictures and numbers and specs on forums and websites all around the world... i really dont see how this is a big deal :D

Does this OC Palm software works with other boards? I have this OC Palm screen or how its called ScreenDuo, but hardware is the same only software is different.

This costs 300€ in Finland, so it will be a bit cheaper in Germany etc.

School is fun! I'm glad your priorities are in order. I really enjoy reading things like you just wrote, because these computers are fun too, but you went straight to what has to come first. You can do anything you want down the road with good schooling and good grades. It's important.

You'll have a Christmas break you can mess with computers and do it when you have free time. They can wait, but you only get one chance at school.


Back on the subject of this mobo, every time a reply hits this thread my heart skips beats! heh :)

I really enjoy all the pics, and can't wait for release of detailed info. I know alot of people have expressed anxiousness to share that info, but I have a feeling we don't have much longer to wait. Hang onto it, they have good reasons for those NDA's. It'll be a big party when they lift them. Intel and Asus has some pretty smart people.

Very nice layout and good looking to boot! I much perfer these square buttons to the gaudy round plasticy crap on the *latest* RoG boards. A big red "START" give me a break.

Hello SF3D how are you doing in Sweden...err i mean Finland? Me want what you have :)P Though only part of what u have....lol. See I currently have an Asus Rampage Extreme...and would like to get the new Rampage II Extreme....only thing is the RIIE does not have the OC Palm.

So, since the p6t uses overclock utility turbo V. Can I not simply dl the drivers from asus and use a OC palm with a rIIe? I mean it is afterall a usb based peripherial, i'm sure that the drivers that are used to make the oc palm work on a p6t can work on the rIIe as well. Surely, there's a go around for implementing the oc palm on another asus mb?

Asus designs both mb's with the same 16+2 phase power and other features so using drivers for the turbo V on a rIIe should not be all that different.

How many kr did the p6t oc palm edition cost? How much can the oc palm be bought separately for....shipped to USA?

Please let me know?

I have the quick answer for you. On P6T, there is TurboV chip on board. That chip handles the changes you make with OC Palm.

On RIIE, there is that Tweakit panel on board and you can change settings on the fly with that. I personally prefer Tweakit, but OC palm is nice looking and it can be used even if motherboard is inside case. RIIE is not in the case usually :)

I did test these CPU's with Dry ice today. It was really bad day for me, cause I didn't get the LN2 :mad:

FYI, I was in the Microcenter in Dallas today and the P6T was on the shelf. $349.99, however they do not have any chips in yet.

Tank Guys web site says they have them on hand but can not ship them till Nov 17th

Guys buyer beware until after the 17th. I've seen places selling Bloomfield stuff, but they are price gouging like crazy. It's a common tactic. They sell before release before they have widespread competition and gouge the guys who want them early. I've seen this stuff going for 100's of more dollars than e-tailer list price. Don't let them rip you off. Overseas it's really bad. There is no way in hell a RIIE is gonna go for 800 US dollars. I converted a price from Euros to US and that's what I got. I'm not even gonna repeat where I saw that.

I would hope Intel goes after these places doing this. I don't know whether it's illegal, but it should be. Intel ought to cut them off next round of releases for doing it.

This had Microcenter's standard price tag on it and being $350 for the new board didn't seem out of whack. They only had one and would have sold it to me if I wanted it. It's not on their website yet, so it may be that they were not supposed to have it out yet. I just thought it was interesting. It's not that you can use it yet anyway without the chips to go with it.

Now that is respectful, and is what I would expect. It's not cheap, but fair for a initial release price. I would be willing to pay 350 for that board. I've seen prices of 5-600 US dollars for that same board overseas when converted from Euros to US and it's why I posted what I did.

I've seen some prices on this stuff that is not just rediculous, it's actually insulting. Most of us here know what this stuff costs or can guess in the ballpark. It can't be misprints, becasue I've seen mnay different places doing this.

From what I've seen here the prices don't seem to be too bad, but I haven't really been able to find much here in the US. It seems like the places selling are selling in other countries right now.

Hopefully we'll get a hard release of the boards, RAM, and CPU's on the 17th, and competition will will sqeeze the scams off the Internet.

I just bought i920 for $360 US, P6T for $309 off ebay, both retail versions. with 25% cashback, i hope to get about $165 back in 2 months.

Congrats. I'm standing by on a Rampage II Extreme. It's not avilable yet, but I have it set to e-mail alert.

I'm also looking for the Extreme i965 and have found a couple of deals, but no availability at those places yet either.

The i965 is gonna go for slightly over 1000 dollars so it's not cheap, but it sure beats a QX9650 at 1495 dollars! hehe :D

The Gigabyte x58 is around $360 on Ebay before the MS Cashback rebate. The I7-965 is $1155 before the $200 rebate. Not bad.

I have been up and running on an i7 940 and the Asus P6T since last friday. Only had time to install the OS, but so far so good. Clocking the part from stock to 3.66 GHz is easy :) will wait till I get those triplechannel kits until I push everything. My current memory is intended for 1.8V...

How is the grease/heatpad/TIM on the northbridge and southbridge? did you reseat the heatsinks with better grease? or does the northbridge even get as hot as before with the IMC?
