We see B3 can reach 3.3-3.4Ghz on 4 cores with a good SB750 motherboard.
Let's see the less power hungry(2 vs 4 cores) B3 dual core top and maybe even exceed that.
Finally AMD is covering almost the entire desktop range with K10,except for single cores.Good product differentiation ,just needs to be seen what prices will be with these chips(German sites states a 45W TDP @ 2.3GHz)

well this is unexpected. Interesting to see a dual core with shared l3 cash, i translated the site... but google translate didn't do the best of jobs. Are these kuma's native, as in, are they an actual processor designed to be a dual core, or are they a phenom with 2 cores disabled? The low clocks seem to be indicative of the latter, but then again, they could be going for the efficient power market with a 45w tdp.. if they can get the clocks up a bit, and they are true dual cores, with a tad lower tdp these would be great as a mobile chip :)

Holy banana, allready were waiting for 9950 be 125w version and dfi junior matx mobo but both of those havent yet appeared, but now this... gotta test this ge 6600 if possible to get soon... two less cores higher change to oc further ... and 45 w TDP IMPRESSIVE!
With an 11.5x multiplier, it is doubtful that these CPUs will overclock better than a 9950. I wouldn't expect much beyond 3GHz.Quote:

This would be much more interesting if Kuma was launching at 2.8-3.0GHz. The GE-6600 should be a good energy efficient CPU, but in terms of performance it's not going to do much. Also the 1.6GHz HTT/NB speed is just killer. What I want to see from AMD is a nice 2.8GHz 95W Deneb that overclocks well and is reasonably priced.

Isn't this what one would expect from maturing process tech? It's a great move for AMD no doubt, but you sound indeed a little too happy as if you were affiliated with AMD. More sceptically one could (or should?) venture to say: too little too late.

I don't think it's kuma, unless if kuma is based off agena, because it's got the same cache as an agena core with just 2 cores disabled (2*512 kb l2 per core and a 2mb l3). Besides why else would the clockspeeds be that low unless if amd couldn't get them higher stably? If they are the trash of agena, it would make sense that the top clockspeed is only 2.3ghz. Honestly if it was a new chip with a good bin I'd expect at least 2.6ghz for the black edition since TDP shouldn't be that high with a dual core
About time eh! Why is it clocked so low? I guess its a good replacement for the EE Brisbanes, but surely a 3GHz version to replace the aging top end Windsor X2s would have been better?

This is clearly not the Kuma we have heard about before, not only because it now have L3 cache, but also because it's called Phenom and not Athlon.
It's good that they're dropping the Athlon name (even though it sounds better), because Phenom X2 says it all.
No need to mix up the new product line with old names, it's just confusing.
Kuma has always been a dual core Phenom. I'm not sure what 'Kuma' you heard about. Quad core Phenoms are called X4, tri cores X3, dual cores *drum roll* X2! ;)Quote:

1.6 GHz does exceed the 1.0 GHz current HT implementation ... I suspect they are quoting the half duplex speed, the full duplex speed would be 3.2 GHz vs 2.0 GHz on X2 today.Quote:

that's probably a 45nm phenom though, I'm nearly 100% certain that this is just a cut down agena, that's the only reason why I can see the clocks being so low (these are the :banana::banana::banana::banana: bins)
