I see ASUS has a new bios out anyone has install it yet?

1203 BIOS for M3A32-MVP Deluxe/Wifi-AP
1.Enhance system stability when using AMD 5400+ CPU and DDR2 800Mhz memory.
2.Resolve C1E function failure problem.
3.Resolve incorrect DRAM frequency value is shown in AI-Suite
I've already updated, I had the C1E problem with the 1202 bios so I could not oc.
Now one question, what the hell is C1E function? (it first appeared with 1202 version)
I am thinking of buying that motherboard next week. How has it been for you?
It's generally a good board, but I just can't seem to like the bios. And when I update I have to reconfigure the bios all over again (except for time and date), the settings saving option does not work correctly. I want badly to return to a DFI mobo with the award bios that I've been using for over 10 years.
But if you are used to the bios it's a great mobo (although I would way a couple more weeks and get the M3A79-T DELUXE since it already has the sb750 southbridge and it has been doing wonder with ocing phenoms)

Wonder if they've pulled it for some reason, they've been doing that a lot lately, posting a BIOS then pulling it shortly after only for it to re-appear a few days later..!!!
The C1E thing is related to power states, and is linked to power management features like cool 'n' quiet etc... AFAIK.

What would be the difference between using C1E and CnQ? They are both in the Bios I'm using, Just switched to 1203 everything seems to be stable
its on the regular downlaods page today. i will try it when i get home. no matter what ati driver i use im still getting the random driver crash with vista64.
hopefully this helps that some. not sure if its the drivers, vista or bios. anyone else get random video driver crashes?
Sapphire ATI 3870 dont play nice on this board, What are you running? Also there new ATI drivers out 8.8
i turned on C1E in bios and nothing happened. i didn't see any lower temps and i didn't see the voltage change either. cool and quiet works for me just not C1E. i tried this on both 1202 and 1203.
Same here I turned it on C1E and I temps were about 5-7 higher, my CnQ have always worked, running Bios 1203

With 1203, idle system consumption is ~25W lower :shocked: when C1E is enabled. What I don't know is how in hell it happens, because at least vcore and cpu freq doesn't change :shrug:
It clocks down the northbridge or something like that

I was able to get 3.5 but was not stable during testing, but surfing the net it was fine,also I need some H20. But I have gotten this cpu temps up to 67 without it shutting down on me,had Zalman fan turned right down to 1150rpm,forgot to turn it up during testing....
The new skin,,,She's HOT !!!! LOL I dont mind it.
HondaGuy - Could you pretty please post up all the settings you used to hit that? I just upgraded from the 8.01 bios to the 12.03 today to see if I could finally break the 2.85Ghz barrier I'm hitting on my Phenom.

Did you do your OCing through the BIOS or the AMD overdrive utility? I've had terrible luck with the utility, but I haven't tried the newer version nor any newer BIOS in a while either. I'm trying to score any mobo with a SB750 & a deneb, but no luck so far. The 4870X2 I'm checking out is just severely CPU bound right now and any help/advice you could give to help me OC it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Yea I can post some pics in abit, Most of the OC I do thru the BIOS and NOT thru AOD, also your ram are you running Unganged or ganged?

I'm not sure what ganged or ungaged means. :oops: Sorry, been a while since I played with OCing.
This BIOS does seem a lot more stable, but the options are entirely different than what I'm used to.

ganged is a single channel 128 bit interface while unganged is a dual channel interface with each channel running at 64 bits. single threaded applications like ganged while multithreaded like unganged.

Wow...yoou really did get lucky with that 9850 chip, majority of Phenoms can at most get 3.3Ghz on a SB600 mobo, and that at high voltage.
I've only been able to get a measly 2.9Ghz stable on mine with on water, 3.5 on air is really nice to see..
Can you run some benchies, nothing major just a 3Dm06 and 3DMark Vantage performance run...
Would love to see some compare URL's as well....!!
I wish my Phenom would get to 3.2GHz, heck I'd settle for 3.0Ghz stable at the moment... :D

I'd love to see what you could get with water cooling as well... it would drop your temps about 10C I think compared to what I saw going from air to water.... ...now if only I had a chip that could OC to benefit from the water cooling... .. well maybe one day...;)
I just want to hit 3Ghz stable on this 9900 so bad that it hurts my teeth, that's my goal.
The amount of speed improvement I see with the R700 and overclocking is just amazing. Just taking it up to 2.85Ghz again I see huge jumps in numbers.

I had origianlly planned to get a new Swiftech GTZ block, or an EK Supreme, but these had a high restriction design which needs a higher pressure pump to maintain a good flow, so because of the pump I already had, I was restricted in my choice of waterblocks already.... I could have added another pump in series with the one already, but I was budget limited as well.....
Anyway you can see the restricitions and dependancies that I mean..... a lot will depend on your preferences/budget and requirements....
As a starting point though I'd think of getting:
Pump: Laing DDC 3.2 and XSPC top approx. - £50.00-£60.00
Waterblock: EK Supreme/Swiftech GTZ - approx. £40.00-£50.00
Radiator: Thermochill PA120.2 - approx £50.00
Reservoir: A nice bay reservoir - approx £20.00-£30.00
Tubing and Barbs and Fittings expect to pay another £30.00-£40.00
For a total of approx: £200.00
You can shop around and get cheaper than the above however, which is where budget comes in.....
i.e. There are XSPC radiators that are avaialbe for approx 1/2 the price of the Thermochills and similar for the other parts as well, but you may prefer to pay for the best now rather than look to upgrade in a few months time, I'm already looking at getting a new pump and better waterblock.....LOL..
Though at the moment my pennies are being saved for a new 790FX/SB750mobo, the ASUS M3A79-T, and then for a 4850X2/4870X2, then a Deneb so it'll be some time now before I make any changes to water cooling again.... at least I hope not.....!!!

Please don't purchase Thermaltake water cooling gear. The water cooling forum here will help you start out with better parts, no need to bother with buying TT parts and having to replace them all.

you are reaching 3.5 on air alone though I would not suggest you stress your rig until you get a proper Water Kits
swiftech has been the most recommended in this forum maybe you could give it a try

I'm a little confused. You're running 3.5 on a SB600. Say you purchase the Asus M3A79-T, based on what AMD says you're going to be able to hit 300+ mhz over what you had with ACC. That would mean about 3.8ghz or have you basically hit the wall on your CPU even with SB750/ACC. If not that 3.8ghz is a pretty nice overclock. Have people been consistently getting 300-400mhz over what they had?Quote:

My max is below...Keep on top of your ASUS bioses..See if they have C1E setting. My new TA770 Bios did and it stabalized my power states..I can use 1.7volts now:shocked:
Keep it aroun 1.66v-1.68v .

Im running a single 655 pump with a Dtek fusion and two Bix3's with 86 cfm panaflows. These are two row rads with 1/2 tygon ..I use the Swifty mini res..
Little heads up on Tripple rads under a $100bucks for Nice cooling.
Swifty's for sub $60range and The Bix3's for arond $70 .Ive found that the Bix3's perform better on HIGH TDP heat disapation than the Swifty's with medeim to high flow fans. While using Low flow fans there about the same performance wise because MEDIUM to HIGH flow fans is what Thicker rads need like the BIX'3 and TFC.. Ive tried Both Swifty and Bix's and get More water flow with the Bix3's(due to two row circulation)..The Bix's Hold More water and are two row vs one row and will disapate heat better when the volts go up...
Swify 320 and 655 pum here( a smaller pump can be used but recomend the 655 for a single or two tripples CPU only loop).

My buddy just installed one with a Dtek and 655. It performs as good as my two Bix'3s because it flows twice as good and is almost twice as thick as the BIX3.
This will be the first $100rad ive ever decided to grab..The PA120.3 is $150 and this is very close to it flow and performanc wise i believe..
Ive used swifty's No dout there great budget Rads usually 50 each. I picked up two Bixs for 56each a while back on special. The reason i went to Bix was beacause the Swifty dindt cool as good with mediun to high fans and They are kinda thin compared B3's .Swiftys flow with one row of fins is identical compared to Two rows with Bix3 and TFC .
Swifty's and or Bix'3s are both great depending on what your planing on doing..Also depends on the room you have in your case or on it.My main thought is if your gonna go for a medium OC ,, go with Swifty's ,,but for HIGH TDP overclocking the Bix3. I will be getting the TFC once i find i nice new case for cheap..My friends Pc cools like mine with just ONE ,,but he is also running Intel:p:.

Hi thanks for all the great info on the water cooling components.... I'm on a tight budget at the moment though, being unemployed and disabled, things are kind of tight...
My cuurent upgrade path is a SB750 mobo next, then a Deneb, possibly a 125W 9950BE , in between, this is between now and say Feb 09, then after that I'll be able to look into adding onto the water cooling, then probably around May-Jun 09, will be time to look at new gfx again.... then Aug-Sep 09 will be CPU/mobo/RAM upgrade time again.....LOL.
But I defintiely want to try and get a better pump before long, and next year will need to improve the rads as well.... at the moment with my budget I was stuck with getting budget and have 2 x XSPC RS240's in series, with 4 x 120mm fans on each rad in a push/pull config (1500-2800rpm fans on a fan controller) normally run the fans at 2000-2100rpm approx.
Again because of design and budget constraints and my own lack of knowledge at the time, I have an XSPC dual bay reservoir/pump combi (hence the need for a better pump).... I really need to improve the flow with a better pump, and wil lbe looking to get one asap, money permitting....
