That's a lot of volts for 4500 spi. I thought these were supposed to be stable for 4500mhz 24/7 at around 1.33v or so. Yours has an unusually high VID too... that makes it a cool chip to run though.
Test some OCCT / prime when you have the time.
:slobber:kick that pig !:D
every e8600 start out with E0 stepping by default right?
Got my E8600 with batch Q820A602 but i dont have a supported bios yet so i got temp reading temps. But on friday i will recieve my new Rampage Extreme so with that i going to test some overclock. Just tried 400x10 with 1.20 vcore. Seems that i got a lower VID.

SO freakin' tempted to trade my E8400 for one these badboys!
For those who got it, please post your batch, cooling & temps and whether it can run +1.5v without BSODing or getting crazy hot. Thanks :).
lol nfm i know what you planning
to the thrread starter!
How about batch code + pack dates?
would make this thread alot more useful than just a bunch of screen shots if we can place a face 'stepping/batch' to the sshots
thanks also location and store purchased?
I will add these beauties to the OC list ...
Looking good... stability test will come soon.

Holy...
Q820a405 seems good. VID=1.200
I only did quick checks on air with 1m, but it seems to love low v. Could boot and run 1m @ 4ghz with 1.15v, probably less but I was looking to go up. Temps were normal & scaled well and together exactly. No problems at all with max v on air. I went up to maybe 1.56v where I decided to wait for cold and experienced no problems whatsoever.
Cold coming soon, like tomorrow lol.

I just ordered my E8600 from shopblt.com. They have plenty in stock at $290 but all that aren't sold today will go to one customer tomorrow so if you are interested go for it.
So what's up, any other results? I want to see some more batches.
Venom-Crusher, that's just freaking awesome!
Can you discribe what your watercooling consists?
Wow.
Can you guys do some dual prime/orthos stability testing with say, 1.36v or less for those of us planning to aircool to get an idea what to expect? Thanks.
I will be testing 2 more in the coming days and once I pick the one for 24/7 style use I will do stability tests.
Would you rather see highest stable clock at a given voltage or lowest voltage to be stable at a given clock? Or highest clock below a certain temp?
I don't use water, only air or LN, but this cpu and it's ranges seem perfectly suited for water cooling.
mrcape: if you'regonna test stability on air then please do highest clocks at anything below 1.42v.
Mine, FPO Q820A606
Runs 4333 Mhz (433x10) stable Prime 95 Smal FTT(max stress L2 cache),with 1,28 Vcore real(CpuZ),1,31 Bios,Loadline Calibration Enabled.:welcome:
And some Pi on printscreens, where I don't want to pass above 1,33 vcore real :
Added them to the list, awaiting 24/7 speeds guys : wolfdaleOClist
Greetz...
Here is mine Stock voltage well allmost, 1.200 in bios 1.180 in Windows.
Havnt primed it cant see the point as I play games, ran 3Dmarks 06 in a 20x loop then played Age of Conan for 3 hours on 1280X1600ress 4X AA and no crashes, temps idle for me are 42 deg per core, 48 to 51 underload and watercooled.
I will push it more once I get my Rampage Extreme RMA'd this clock is on my Maximus.

I want one of these. why is cpu-z 1.46 reporting revision E0 and stepping A? Isn't the stepping E0?
I just ran core temp, never use to work in Vista x64 guess they fixed it, idle 42 vid 1.2375 can some one please explain to me the VID? is this the default stock volts or something? thanks in advance.
Whats the general opinion on MAX safe volts for the 8600?
Is everyone still sticking to 1.40/1.45 volts.

That VCore is nuts. Amazing. My E8400 needs 1.375 to do that speed now....
Are there any stuck sensors or weird temps ? Anyone noticed something in particular... if these do 4.5 at the same volts as some E8400's do 4ghz I might go for one...( so 1.35 max )
Q820A602 batch here and one stuck sensor I'm afraid.
Mine runs very hot, 47c idle, default 1.16v.
My e6850 ran at 32 idle with 1.42v. Its taking 1.3v to get to a stable 4250ghz but idle is 64c and load temps are 88c+! The most unfortunate part tho is when I got high temps, instead of returning it, I lapped it. It reduced temps 3c but of course killed the warranty.
Batch Q820R405
Btw, after lapping, I have a nickel-sized copper spot in the middle, so concave c2d's perhaps are a thing of the past.
Im thinking about getting E8600, as my E8500 is pretty crap even though my batch is supposed to me good. But let's see. Want watercooling aswell.
Great results, though I don't know why it's $279.99 retail... I can get a Q9450 at Microcenter for that much... Always thought the pricing of the Wolfdales was a little out of whack.
My baby should arrive Monday or Tuesday - Gave in after seeing it OC to 6GHZ at i34 :)
~Bex
Just ordered 1. Will be here Tuesday. It'll be replacing an E8500 4200mhz on air......hopefully :p
Just got mine today. Batch number is Q820A599.
Should have my rig running when I get my 4870X2 sometime this week, so hopefully can post a few results of it running under water.

This mine just starting to tweak.CPU-Z says 1.36 load. Dfi Dk P35 2x2 gb Gkill 8000 water cooled. Gonna try for 4500 again later but nervous bout breaking that 1.45 volt limit
Q820a761
I have a Q820A405 that runs kinda hot at idle, but not that bad. Load temps max = 61c at 4.5ghz. It also Orthos blend Pr 9 stable 2 hrs at 4.5ghz with only 1.33vcore.
Maybe you've got a bad mount, really hot ambients, bad cooler or something. Either that or it's just not a great one. But I figured I'd tell you mine of the same batch is doing great.
Got the same batch as this. http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=400587Quote:

http://www.abload.de/img/4.5ghz-prime-01ry1.png
Purchased E8600 retail from mwave on ebay for $215 after MS live.com cashback :) Putting a new PC together with Asus Maximus II Formula :)
Will update with results later this week. :)
E8600 arrived about three hours ago. OCCT stable 4400 vCore of 1.26875. Presently testing 4500 with vCore of 1.3000.
This chip is a bit toasty - Running load temp at 4400 and 1.3 of mid sixties (Real Temp).
this chip is Q820R406 with vid of 1.1625
With all the different temp readings from the different monitors being an issue lately, i wonder if these new chips are being read wrong...........Maybe unclewebb knows.
Dont think this is going to scale well. minimum volts needed under droop to do 3.6
My E8600 coming wednesday
What is the FSB Termination (VTT) voltage for let's say overclock between 4.2 Ghz to 4.5 Ghz????
these cpus look insane, ordered from newegg, could be here thursday if it ships from NJ, free 3 day shipping.
same here i am looking for 4400+, my e8500 does 4.2 24/7
Meh. Having problems with Core Temp and Real Temp getting a reading on my e8600 in my DFI Blood Iron (back-up mobo to my Biostar P45 - don't ask ) however the DFI system monitor is getting a reading. Its way lower than the bios reading, but at least it gives me a reference point and I can see see the jump in temps as I try to put a load on it. To start I wanted to see if at what point my Swiftech 220 Compact Kit would be unable to handle the jump in heat, to get a general idea of where this CPU would land. Set my ram to loose SPD timings and my multi to 10. I guess my cooling is good enough to just touch 5GHZ but not stable for more than a screenshot.
http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/1...5ghzmi5.th.jpg
If I had to take a guess, I'd say this Q820A597 on water is probably good for 4.5ghz on water for a 24/7 rig. I'll be testing more as soon as I find out whats going on with my Biostar Tpower P45 mobo.

Amazing CPU Chri$ch, what stepping?
you mean the batch? Q822A435
Yeah, that's what i meant, stepping is a legacy from the AMD era. ;)
Can you tell me what your watercooling consists and what was your ambient temp?
I can't wait to get me one of these babies.
Jebus Chri$ch, you know how to kick a guy when he's down. :D Seriously nice CPU you have there.

Will look for 24/7 4.5GHz+ primestable settings a little later..
Great CPU Rabor, may i ask you where'd you get it from?
And what batch# please?
@ zeus
read his post for the batch ;)
So maybe 4.5ghz a good 24/7 setting? Orthos seems to have "unstuck" the temp readings for both Core Temp and Real Temp.
http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/2...4500rq4.th.jpg
I would like to hear from some of you regarding temps with this chip. At 450*10 with a vCore of 1.35 I am getting a temp reading from Real Temp in the eighties yet when I touch my water block it is cool to the touch.
I have remounted my block several times with no changes. I am at the point of thinking that the sensors in this chip are really screwy .
At 440*10 and a stable OCCT vCore of 1.26875 I get a max real temp of 63c which is still way too high, imo, for that vCore.
I would appreciate hearing some other results.
 holy crap These E8600 are crazy !! i order one today :D looking for 4500-4600mhz stable

anyone having issues with 1.46v and e8600's and saving and submiting cpuz files to the orb thingy?
