Look at the attached picture, do you see where the water is puddling up inside of my blocks? It shouldn't be ale to get in there! It is squeezed in between the copper and the lucite, and I don't get it! Shouldn't the flow going down to the left, along the bottom, and up out the other side, and not be able to leak through the section that is put there to make a channel?

The lower right hand corner of the bottom picture looks like it was leaking all the way through. Not good at all.
Yeah I am a bit pissed about it, I told myself this was the last time I would rebuild this system, and once I get it all together I notice the video card is leeking about a drop a day. There is an O-ring, but it wasn't installed right. This is the second time I have had this problem with full cover blocks and their HUGE o rings. From now on with a new block I am going to take it apart and inspect the oring myself first.

for a quick fix maybe open the block's, clean them and apply a THIN layer of clear silicone on the center piece the re-attach?
I just figured out that the copper plate is not perfectly flat.... That REALLY sucks too because I was very happy with the build quality of these blocks until now... Though now that the outer o-ring is installed correctly I don't think it will leak anymore, but the blue water in the center channel is not very attractive.... I would have expected more from $135 water blocks, and it happened to both of them....
Let XSPC know about this (well unless their designer sees this post). I bet they'd address it in future models. That really sucks otherwise though. Your vidcards didn't get damaged, right?

yeah, and make sure next time you take it all apart for proper inspection...
yeah email xspc and ask them to compensate you show them detailed pics if needed but DO NOT tell them you took it apart as they may try to weasel out of it. also, try some silicone in the middle as aforementioned and maybe a small bead all around the o-ring to and it should take care of it, believe it or not I had the same problem with my EK hd3870X2 blocks and I was not impressed >( but a little silicone and wham! no more ;)
Man on man. XSPC have some awesome products out there but they are plagued by some QC issues.
makes me wonder if my acetal EK blocks are doing this.. :rolleyes:
Yeah after fixing the O ring it no longer leaks out of the block, but the inside of the card is still leaking where it shouldn't, It doesn't seem to hurt flow because after 20 minutes of COD4 (at 1920 x 1200 4xAA 4xAF) temps on both cards are 35C and realtemp says my E8400 @4ghz is at 29/30C.
there's water there because there's no oring to prevent it from NOT going there...
Are you sure there isn't an inner O-ring. Its highly unusual.
although i dont quite like how the blue liquid looks in there, i think thats how its supposed to be...take a look here

it appears that the "forgotten" o-ring is just not a part of the block..
i doubt emailing xspc would yield any results but you could try...otherwise you could modify the acrylic to fit one oring yourself

Anyhow, i cut a lot of corners, but testing out new blocks for leaks is always a primary. The last thing you'd want, and you understand now, is to have something leak after you finished installing and bleeding.

All my experiences with Silicon have been bad ones (in terms of computers..). It leaks under high enough pressure and it's jelly-like nature is such a pain. I've tried sealing leaks with a couple of things, and whilst Epoxy wasn't bad, superglue did the trick even better, which is sad considering it's so "normal".Quote:

I think that some water is going to get in the middle portion of the block. It's not sealed so there is potential for a bit to flow in between the surfaces of the copper and acrylic. The majority of the water should be flowing through the gpu portion of the block and should work just fine. Just think of it as some extra cooling for the middle portion.

Yeah, you can see that the water path itself is sealed on the outside, so there shouldn't be any water leaking out of the block itself, but the inner space is going to allow seepage. Not really an issue, except from an aesthetics point of view. I doubt it's affecting flow much, if at all.
HOWEVER, in the OP's pictures, it's obvious that the O-ring itself is leaking, particularly near the bottom-right screw. That's not good at all. Time to RMA some blocks, I think...
