HKEPC: Intel's Q3 Pricelist
-
Would you mind posting a overview or rehosting the pics instead of just posting a link?
-
-
Sheesh, and we were complaining that the new 45's would make good multis so much more expensive. Still not the cheap Q6600 glory days of recent, but getting darn close. Possibly better, if your motherboard can push a little FSB.
-
Well not my hits, I really hate opening a news article just to see a post with a link, I know others share my view and I will leave it at that.
-
DAM! i'm going to snatch me a 9450 when those prices kick into gear. by then they would have a more stable stepping for higher OC's...stupid 8 multi
-
Whats difference of qx9650 and q9650? 999$ versus 530$ big difference, worth waiting for q9650 instead of buying qx9650 now?

My guess is the multiplier, qx is unlocked while q is locked.
-
-
Not really news i already read this on Fudzilla and TCMagazine.
-
The Q9400 is they sweet spot, 8x multi, 6mb of cache for $266. That's not a bad deal.
-
-
Hopefully that Q9650 can drop to around $300 in Q4.

Yes! Quad Core 2.83 for $316 is right where the E6600 launched in July of 2006 two years earlier, just for the record.
-
Not bad, Q9550 is finaly at consumer price range.
-
-
E8600 come to daddy! 10x multiplier is almost like a X8600, still wish it was unlocked though for $500.

-

-
mmmm 8600s will be fun times.
-
let me guess...

i'll likely be getting a q9650 in q1 or q2 09 as my final upgrade for this system(before nehalem/k11/PPC/who knows)

No, by Q9550

Price drops are welcome for new buyers, but those who bought at the old price get totally screwed!

Dumbest comment ever. In that case you basicly got screwed the day you bought any type of electronics. Always something better or cheaper in the very near future.
I bought a E6600 for 316$ ~2 years ago. But I could have waited and gotten a 2.66Ghz Quad now. I got screwed right? Or maybe I didnt want to waste 2 years with an inferiour CPU.
-
It's not dumb, but it's hard to swallow a price drop soon after splashing down $400 on a CPU, we all know hardware depreciates...and fast. But it's still a bitter pill to swallow.

when you know it in the first place, why complain. I bough ddr3-1800 for 360€ and now 6 month later i get the same sticks for 260€, thats life.

Q9550 looks like a good buy in Q3
-
Aren't the 45 nm 1,5Mb L2 Pentium dual-cores due out for q3 as well?

I wondered about the same thing!

one thing to remember is how long you use your product.
my X1800XT was top of the line and is now becoming not usefull in certain games.
Yes it cost me 400.00 but I have enjoyed it and so far has lasted from the 1900XTX - the 3780x2
when I upgrade this summer to the GT200 or 4000series that video card will last me a long time and so will
my next INTEL upgrade this fall/winter
Iam also upgrading my water cooling system that is 4 yrs old
upgrading every 3-6 months to the latest thing gets very expensive vs holding out for meaningfull upgrades but don't be cheap on the front end.
Don't complain get a gameplan together.
as said before Q6600 + 8800ultra still competitive 2yrs later
-
First we need to see the Q9xxx in the shops before we can talk about a price cut. According to the price list, the Q9550 is the winner if it'd be available for purchasing.

I can't remember where I read it - but I believe they are leaving the multi unlocked....aiming this cpu at the Phenom BE.
Will try to find it again...
-

I think you're right!

Are we expecting a g0-like respin of penryn in Q3'08? Does Intel usually respin their CPUs for improved manufacturability, thermals and overclocking as a side effect? (I merely remember the core 2 duo era)

q9450 was the most popular of the cpu's, and that went down in price only a little bit, no big deal, and it got replaced by something very slightly better, also no big deal.
getting totally screwed would be like buying a 9800gx2 on june 17

"That's life, that's what all the people say.
You're riding high in April,
Shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune,
When I'm back on top, back on top in June."

Isnt Q3 when nehalem is supposed to be launched? Its better to just hold out for that if anyone was looking to make the jump to an Intel quad from any cpu.

Q4 AFAIK, and only the extreme high-end segment. Mainstream wont be available until 2009.

you forgot server. ;)

**cough cough**
guess I will have a server this winter :D
I didn't mean a butler but that would be nice too

I'm a little baffled by the Q9650 which I've read is going to replace the QX. I heard it was going to be selling in the low-mid 500s, which I thought was pretty wild. But another thread has an article where the same $530 price shown in the op was followed by the phrase "in 1000 unit trays". I've never seen that phrase, but I thought it implied that $530 was wholesale, but I'm still reading in lotsa places that it's in fact the retail price.

ANyone know if this is going to perform like the qx9650?
-
The price drops are expected in the beginning of July or later?

Yeah, but I was talking about the desktop segment since this thread was about desktop CPUs :)

They’ve already announced new revisions/steppings for certain 45nm Xeons with a lower TDP so they’ve obviously tweaked the process. I imagine the desktop chips will get the same recipe at some point.
