Yay! Another game to play
Test #4 : Physics (with PPU)
= FAIL.
:ROTF: :rotf:
They must have thought 'oh snap' when Ageia got gobbled up by nVidia. :D
hmmmm idk...
they should finally make up their mind if they want 3dmark to be a 3d benchmark or a cpu benchmark or a system benchmark.
Pcmark is supposed to be the system benchmark, so they should split 3dmark into a REAL 3d benchmark and maybe launch some new CPU only benchmark.
all this cpu dependency in their last 3dmark series really annoys me...
there isnt a single game that depends that heavily on the cpu... and yes, maybe in some years there will be games that require that much cpu power, but thats not the point of 3dmark. the whole point of 3dmark was to show how gpus can handle future games in the next 1-2 years and how well they can handle the new techniques used in rendering.
2k5 was already off, 2k6 was even more off... i pray that vantage isnt even worse...
but to me it looks like they sold out...
intel wants the bench to show off their quads even tho nobody needs that much processing power, microsoft wants to show of vista even tho nobody likes the new features and performance sucks...
Hmm. Vista only.
Shucks.
So soon
That´s what I have been waiting for :D
Surely Vista and DX10 only had been known about for months?
Agree with the above comments about the over emphasis on CPU though...
Also, with Agea physics now ported to 8 series and above cards, this could end up really favouring Nvidia...
It was the first thing we found out and it's been known since the very start of the development.
Don't think so. If PhysX is to survive, AMD has to be on board. With sole support from NVIDIA, PhysX will fail miserably.Quote:

Thats true... and they have already said it will be an open API. ATi just need to implament it now.
my guess is that all records will be set without running the PPU test
3dmark is supposed to me about the newest and greatest in 3d technology for us end-users. If they would've kept DX9 they wouldn't have really made any real progress now, would they?
You wanna bench your WinXP rig? You have 3dmark 01,03,05 and 06 for that.
Vantage is for people who NOW have the latest and greatest in the industry and can run it (albeit slow) and for people who, in the future, will have something that can run it. You can't hang on to XP forever and expect every application to run on it.
which raises the point will this be enough to kill xp for enthusiast users?
Sooo...ummmm.....what is there to review exactly?
But with 3-4 way GPU setups making up such a small % of a small % of the market (enthusiasts/benchers still being ...~2%) I wouldnt class that as any kind of death-knoll....maybe just a cough that wont go away :p:
I have no problem with future benches being DX10/Vista....all I need is Vista :p:

3DMark Vantage Launch Next Week?
The long awaited Futuremark 3DMark Vantage will be released on April 22nd it has been learned from a picture posted on PCPOP.com. Most notably 3DMark Vantage will differ from previous 3DMark video benchmarks with its DirectX 10 API. DirectX 10 support also means the program will work on Windows Vista only. When started 3DMark Vantage will run through three tests to determine your PC's performance - Jane Nash, Calico and Aeroplanes. If your PC is equipped with an AGEIA PhysX card, there will be a fourth test for physics only. The full list of all NVIDIA/ATI video cards capable of running 3DMark Vantage can be found here. An online test to see if your PC is up to the task for 3DMark vantage is also running online.

AFAIK yes, it'll be like 3D M06.
Two CPU tests, only this time the CPU tests won't be the same, the one will have to do with physics.
I could be wrong, because these are unofficial info and from a long time ago.
I've got no confirmed info about the tests.
Only thing I know is that I'll have a running version soon.
why is this in dx10 it should be 10.1, unless they enabled all of the optionals in dx10 this wont be a useful bench mark in a few months with the next batch of cards
Amazing,
I wonder how Futuremark will assess the marks as would be dull if a entry level score surpasses a Xtreme level. They have to do something, like scores are the same no matter which level they are being rendering, otherwise most of the people will be playing as an entry level to get higher marks. I just think if the settings are Xtreme it should have something else. Well we will see it next week.
..........
Agreed, as they had more than sufficient time to make the changes.
Edit: I think it is a DX10.1 too but it does not say it. Probably when they refer DX10 means DX10.*. By the way they also should set 3D Mark Vantage as a default graphic benchmark and remove 3DMark 06 from the scene.
Metroid.
Time to upgrade to Vista..
its released now?
if you click on the link with the different presests it goes over the scoring method
they make one comparable to the next, hopefully it works well in the end. but i would rather it just be 4 different options where we normally left the searching at "default"
3 more days....really can't wait.
A bird told me that cpu-test 2 (physics test) runs better on the cpu.
Well thats interesting...I was thinking just the opposite! Well thats good news I suppose for all those that DONT have a dedicated PPU and dont want to buy one to be a benching queen!!Quote:

If there's little to no hardware to benchmark on why even bench it?
vantage is the next fake from 3D's industry :D
No countdown timer at FM.
No early reviews.
No mention of the release date at FM's forums.
I am seriously doubting this thing is going to be released tomorrow.
It's NOT going to be released tomorrow
We've been told that we'll have a week or a bit more to preview it before it gets released to the public, so... no, it's not going to be released tomorrow.
As in we, I meant some overclockers, and some of the media ( the press ) around the globe
Ummmmm... . why is this thread stickied already if Vantage has never been released yet, with no ETA---let alone a "review"?
Until then, this thread is only attracting posts that are, IMHO, not worthy of reading (a big waste of time for me). I'd wait until it's released first and then sticky it. At least if it is, for sure, gonna be out 3 days from now.
No Windows Server 2008 [DX10 fully supported] - that REALLY sucks.
I realise that DX10 = "Vista or better", but why, oh why, that Vantage stuff requires "Vista" in the name of the system not just DX10...?
This is for now, maybe there will be some "hack"... [I hope so]
Mayby
requires Vista, but vista is the only DX10 OS,
So the can say requires Vista or DX10
It will be the same (for now, not later)
I cant wait :)
Im one of the noobs that bought Vista on release and it didnt work. But it works now so Im happy.

3DMark Vantage Launch Date Changed to April 29, 2008
Reserved to be available on April 22nd, Futuremark's next-gen 3DMark Vantage failed to make it on time and is now rumored for an April 28-29 release, a week later than expected. 3DMark Vantage is a DirectX 10 benchmark that works with Windows Vista only, since it's the only OS to support DX10. Benchmarkers will be offered a new physics test and God knows what. The final system requierements remain unchanged (read the full story).

Expect a newer news article with another release date, further away.
I wonder how they will block the Windows Server 2008 Version as it uses Vista drivers. So the leak appeared and is not only Vista supported. Well we will see about that soon.
Metroid.
So is this true? There will only be 2 tests determining the graphics score? Also, this seems to imply that the weights wont be equal?
Whoa.
Somebody leaked the pdf ?

Why wouldnt you pay?
How Many Times have you run 01/03/05/06 PCMark

i just wish they did some deal to buy the set for $60 or something
How much longer left till we get Vantage then?
gonna be fun to test a mid range card like mine and cry when I see other peoples scores lol.
Just wait fot my 4870, just wait XD

so no one even has tried it yet?
Try what ? 3D Mark Vantage ?
It's nowhere available in public, and people who have it now, are journalists & overclockers and are bound by a huge NDA.
downloading at 917 KB/second
anyone ever have their isp go from 5 mbit service to 10 mbit service without asking and without knowing about it? i seem to have doubled my speed and i like it.
nm i was jsut curious but i see they changed this version and now you need a registered version to view your results.
What are you downloading ?
Because I don't think there's a final version available on the net.

it could jsut be bs i have no idea
second thought i bet it is
jesus im retarded i didnt see there is 2 versions i just saw vantage. sorry its definately not it.
That's PC Mark Vantage.
Not 3D Mark Vantage.
Don't look for 3D Mark Vantage, you won't find it ;)
lol i know its a challenge now. i dont even bench i just thought if no one else was posting i would. i guess they have kept it tight... congrats thats rare these days.
500.000$ is a good fine :p:
how come youre up so early? it was like 5 am and i got up i couldnt sleep.
I'm always up & "running" :p:
5 to 6 hours of sleep and then back to work.
Currently writing an interesting article regarding...the application in the title of this thread ;)
yeah i figured that. thats cool. im backing up dvds and then gonna reinstall windows on this piece of ... its been a year and its time for that annual wipe the drive day. i will say for almost a year and a half of vista on this machine its worked great. i could keep going but i have no space and i need to wipe out all these old apps i had installed. just ends up destroying it.
Nvidia just "released" the performance of their cards on 3dmark Vantage.
http://www.tcmagazine.com/images/new...f_chart_01.jpg
Check out those results at the Extreme preset, not even 7k with Quad SLI.
A 9800GTX at 790MHz core clock gets around 16fps in the 2 GPU tests. This is with the Performance preset.

LOL this is getting out of hand.
Won't comment on the scores though, FutureMark's treating me well, and I intend to keep my promises.
can you tell them i would keep quiet too ?! or anyone you know that likes to send out free samples..
im great at testing things !
(those score previews are telling me I need two 4870's not one just for a benchmark...)
I'm currently compiling some nice charts, wish I could show them to you guys now.
Well... tomorrow's the day the embargo ends, you'll have to wait some hours.
P.S. Intel if you're reading this, I need a SkullTrail for my tests :p:
Too bad Futuremark doesn't do as lousy a job at keeping their software under wraps as most game developers.
I should have been pirating this DAYS ago I tell yah!!!
Very interesting bench mark this one but :banana::banana::banana: paying for it LOL
Good on them for making people pay they should have done it along time ago, i know i would have, if there is money to be made then make it i say.
If you're going to use it "frequently" the price asked is fine.
Consider the work behind the curtains, and the product's quality.
LOL, and their superb quality ORB which is broken on IE totally, and :banana::banana::banana: when it does work
So is this going to be available at midnight tonight? I mean, that is technically the 28th.
http://www.futuremark.com/3dmarkvantage/
Looks like 8am CST on the 28th. (Which is probably when reviews will go up as well)
I think its time to convert my gaming machine to a Vista64
(not that my 3850 is going to hold up to much anyway)
43 Minutes and counting...
