Nice ! Impressive bus speeds from that Max3. What's the highest FSB that you've ran you Raptors in Raid 0, and on which controller ?
Well im not using them in this system if thats what you think, i use them with my 3.2, but in answer to your question, highest ive got them to was 272 i belive. Cant do anything other than 66/33 with them though :(
oops, trying to post the smaller pic up and somehow i cant post an attatchment on my first post for some reason :/ here it is, sorry.
I got a Geil PC4200 kit as well mate...am not able to see their max though as my chip is a 3.0C so 255fsb 24/7 prime stable is what i am running it at the moment.
How high have you been able to push your Geil sticks mate with what timings?
I was just wondering if there was a fsb limit caused by the SATA raid set-up. Neither of my 2.8's exceed 260 fsb, I assume it's the chips, but thought I'd ask.Quote:

2.5/4/3/7 right now, this is the highest ive got it so far, might try for more tommorow.Quote:

thats xcellent mate...mine can do 2.5 4 3 6 @ 255fsb+...
What fsb are u running them @ ?
345 right now, im really liking them so far, need to push them a littel more though :D i think there good for it.
there we go, here are some better temps, res is starting to cool down.
So in the set-up pictured above, how long does it take to cool the res ? I assume the AC is running steady when in use, and not cycling ?
Sorry, wrong thread
Do you mean you are running your ram at 1:1 ratio? Becuase that is what it sounds like and that would be freaking awesome.Quote:

naw, 3:2 right now, i havnt tried 1:1 yet, just trying to see how far i can get this chip.
Yea thats pretty awesome.
I'd really think that sata drives in raid would limit your overclock.
I have tried, and done 4 ghz no prob. on a ide WD 40gb hd. But i had trouble when using a raptor raid system to oc. I had the PCI/AGP fixed when ocing with the raptors.
Id like to see him get higher fsb. Itll be crazy.
350 @full load
thats a very nice clock man. A couple questions: What speed are those mem modules running? I assume 3:2 divider or maybe the 5:4? is it stable for anything at 345x12? What northbridge voltage and northbridge cooling are you using? That is a really nice chip and exceptional o/c.
Nice job man
Hows this compare to your 3.2 bench wise? Speeds pretty close to each other but the FSB is a ton higher on this.
I think over 4 ghz on a 2.4ghz chip is more than "not a bad 2.4" :p
3:2, so 525mhz if my math is right. It was pretty stable at 345, i just failed prime after like 8 calculations, im guna mess around in bios and see what i can do.
It has a ton more bandwith for sure :) Havnt really tested out anything 3d on it yet though, only have an old gf2 card on here.
Whats the info on that cpu? ie batch code and pack date?
I just fried mine a need a new one
Thanks
Steve
Your 5v is hurting, kenneth 8-)
holy crap that a hell of a overclock at stock voltage, pump that sucker up!
I would also like to know the batch of that chip becuase im in the market for a new intel chip :)
yea my +12 is at 11.61 right now :(Quote:

Sorry i dont have the numbers for it. A buddy of mine said he had a good ocer and let me buy it off him, dindt know it would do this good :) when i take the cpu out ill be sure and give yall the numbers off the top.
Nice OC Kenneth :)
Yer Im wondering if my Raptors in RAID0 have hindered my OC also.....I might grab one of the Maxtor fluid bearing drives as a spare and try some OCs on it :)
OffTopic, but Kenneth, what was the martial arts stuff you did again? I was trying to explain to my mate the other day and got it mixed up I think :D
hehehehehehe
Any extra cooling on the northbridge?
Dam - smart question there [SLC]TachyonQuote:

me wouldn't mind this one question answered either
where'd you get it
really a greak work
Naw, no hs on the nb either :) really works pretty well still, around 24c last night when i was testing it, with the room colder, its around 18c.
When i get home tonight i might throw it in the prommy and see if i cant get anymroe out of it.
Been teaching wushu for about 5 years now, been teached the rest of the timeQuote:

That is simply UNREAL overclock you've got there!
4.2G with 1.50V using only chilled water :0
Amazing :toast:
Prommie should give you 100-150MHz extra I think (and even more with higher Vcore). Done any sandra mem benches or pcmark mem yet?
If Macci says that to you you know you have something special on your hands :p:Quote:

so?Quote:

awesome overclock at 1.5v :) nice job :toast: cheer
:toast: well done mate :toast:
Thats just sick.I can have one please:slobber:
what is your agp/pci at right now?
forgot about those, ill post em up when i get back from work.Quote:

66/33 right now, havnt had time to tweak it yet.Quote:

This is off topic Kenneth. When i saw your "beautiful" collage of your face in your avatar i thought you would be like in the mid 20's. But i checked your profile and u are younger then me by 1 year and you have done more overclocking then me. Thats just amazing.
So you dont have any cooling for the northbridge to achieve those clocks?
If you dont use any cooling, you might be starting a new thing, No nb coolers = no noise and = higher clock!
oops, im really 27, i just have a bad habit of putting in random numbers during regestration =p.Quote:

Yea, this is the same mobo that i broke the studs off of so i just went with no hs/f , i think major slauter had his fall off , and when he put it back on, didnt have any increse in oc.
so you are saying that your running it at 345FSB with NO northbridge cooling!!?
Man gotta get one of those MAX3s :D

what´s your fsb record ??? mobo and what cooling you use to nb :) and dividers etc... please give me some advice
Cheers
gggggggg I just fell off the chair when I read this.....
345 fsb with standard nb heatsink on max3!!!
I just got my IC7-MAX3 today and will try it tomorrow in the Mach II and a good 2.6c
I have had stability problems and some reboots with IC7-G at 285+ fsb, I wonder if it's beacuse of my 2 sata maxtors running in raid-0, what do you all think?
maybe i should use just ide disks to get more stability...
i think its time to really cool this thing, be back in a few hours :D

any sanrda / cpu-z / wcpuid screen shots?
 :slobber: :toast: :toast: nice!!!
:slobber:
thats one helluva chip
well slaped my diy phase change on my nb and put the 2.4 in my prommie, think i found its limit.
This was the highest i could get where it was pretty stable
heres a cpu-z, this is the highest i could get too.
adding voltage doesnt seem to help at all, i tried to boot it past, 360, all the way up to 1.8 with no diffrence.
That is an incredible oc, congrats man :) :) :)
§§§§ing impressive!!!
yeah your only 1 fsb away from macci, Id try desperatly to get that last one
he got 362
limited by the NBQuote:

mod vdd and 380*12 :D :p:
KennethChong,
dont act so "normal" about your overclock ;) you have by far the luckiest combo 2.4C with Canterwood I have EVER seen.. I'm assuming you use the ABIT here..... macci with his 362 used a springdale albatron (slow as hell even at 360), 360 on a canterwood is ummmmmmmmm...... rather good ;)
oh, and there is such a thing as SoftFSB ;)
clockgen is the bestQuote:

368.6 FSB is the world record
maybe a new score?
im using clockgen most of the time :)
Im guna try for more tonight, 268 is really the record? Ill try, but im not sure if i can push it anymore...
oh and for those of you have heard of berkut's burn in method and never tried? It works wonders!
lucky as in he has one heck of a chip??Quote:

i wouldnt doubt his ability to oc it
Berkut's method??
And that is...??
Is it running the rig w/no cooling for a short period of time to force the TIM to change form?
C
pretty much, here it is in his words...
"Yea, its all about turning you cooling system off with the cpu @ low clock/fsb/voltage so it heats up slowly and can work very warm
Simply turn off your cooling system, cpu as low as it can go, voltage also and let it go to like 80C, turn your computer on and off for about an hour to let your thermal paste settle, it should lower your temps.
If i remember well Major Slaughter used it and had 50mhz better clocks on his p4 and lower temps"
I lost about 6c off my temps after i tried it, very good method, and quick.
Kenneth,
next time you take the chip out, make sure you let us know the intel chip markings =] I want one of these more than anything now. Whats your mem bandwidth like?
Kenneth,
Outstanding OC! Is your Mach 2 stock? Do you use Ceramique?
Again...excellent.
C
bah! i ment to take a picture when i moved it to the prommie, forgot :( ill be sure to get it to yall though.
The prommie is 404 modded, and yea im using Ceramique, love the stuff :D
crap, dont know whats up with this antec psu :(
this pic is from before i really started to push it too, time for a new psu i guess
HOLY CRAP MAN! Thats one hell of a chip. Better than your 3.2C Go for the record :D Hurry up and take a pic of your setup I wana see it :slobber:
Hey great job Kenneth. I would love to see you break 268!!
Just real quick about the burn in. Can this work on water cooled rig's, and isn't 80c a little high or will the p4 thermal throttling kick in before any damage?
Yea it works, i did it when it was on the waterchiller also, i let it get to about 60c in windows, then went into bios untill it got to 70, thats the highest i went. got 4c off my temps with it.
Thats a heck of an overclock with your voltages meandering all over like that, lol 8-)
Still not as bad as my Enermax, though, made it hit 4.6v on the 5v rail a while back.. hehe.
Time to R82 mod my psu I think...
Grab your multimeter Kenneth, I'm assuming it's one of your IC7's ?Quote:

I installed an Antec 550 (not a true control), and modded the voltage sensing wires. Your voltage swings are slightly more than mine, but not much. The IC7 reports the voltages wrong, it isn't undervolting. Check the output leg of the DDR mosfet, you'll see it matches what you set in the bios for vdimm. Measure your 5v at the Radeon external power hook-up, again it will be higher than MBM5. I still raised my lines, but only so the minimums are at nominal voltages under load.
Zroc found the same thing with the IC7's, and Mushkin did as well.
Damn sweet OC Kenneth :toast:
Looking good my man, take that chip to the top of 3D2001 :D
OPP
Mr Chong: :) U really need to post the FPO/Batch ...I saw in an earlier post that you didn´t get the box....but for FFS take out the chip and post us the Batch......plzzz ?????
That is an exceptional 2.4C.:toast:
KennethChong:
I'm just going to put my MAX3 in the Prometeia now and I have used Arctic Alumina on the cpu,
is it completely safe to use Ceramique too and if so is there anything I should think about when using Ceramique?
and again great work man!!! :) congrats!!!
Thanks guys!
Its my max 3, but i would think the principle would be the same, im guna test it out today, thanks for the info.Quote:

I havnt had any problems wiht Ceramique, just a bit tough to apply sometimes, just take your time on it and make sure its spread evenly.
First off, GJ on your OC. A lot of people are slightly jealous. :D
I always thought P4's started thermal throtling at around 70 degrees celcius. It would still work the same if they did right?Quote:

I only wish I could get one of those.
I think he uses amd procs, but i got my p4 up to 60 in windows without a prob, then up to 70 in bios, thats as far as i went, did that a few times, really helps if you just redid your thermal past, dont have to wait for it to settleQuote:

after about an hour of messing around this seems to be the highest i can get a screeny, sooo close!
thats incredible! Did you hook it up to the prommie?
uh wow enormous, :slobber: great job :toast:
now a vddr and vdd mod, no choice :D
please post that at vr-zone!!!
almost a world record
the guy that got 368 had an ES I believe
it's thereQuote:

do you have a link of where i would need to go, never really looked at vr- zone before.

Have you checked out Artic silvers aplication advice? They say to put on a dab and let the heatsink smear it evenly, they found it avoids any air bubbles compared to spreading it out yourself.

thanks for the link opp, sent a screeny in,
didnt read that about the cermique, im guna reaply tonight and see if it helps any.

If you saw that 1700@2.8 topic you'll know why...
ahh i got it, i think its becuase the pic was 57k, zipped it to 48 and i havnt got a rejection notice.
great
what country are you gonna represent, US or your home country?
congratulations too, you beat macci
that is quite an accomplishment:toast:
well they said web site or country, so i put xtremesystems.com, but if they ask for a country, im guna put us, they need more up there :D
I agree, there are so many people from Greece & Japan that put out insane numbers
oh, forgot to post a pic of my new lab, i finaly cleaned out my old tool room, this is a pic of it about 6 days ago, sence then ive repainted it, shined up the floor, and added all my junk (gf has the camera for the rest of the week visiting her mother) man its nice to finaly have some room!
Kenneth,
I still think you might get 368 or 369. The TIM may improve, ambient air to the Prom may be cooler some day, "something" may kick it up to the next level someday.
But still...this is an absolutely stellar achievment! Congrat's!!!!
When you start benching 3D, it should be REALLY interesting.
C
 :slobber:  :slobber: :toast: congrats!!!!!
have tried typing in msconfig & booting with the middle one? That frees up resources
I wanna see some benchies on this spectacular overclock! You are by far the luckiest ocer out there. Cheers! :toast:
Everything about your rig kicks ass, the temps, the CPU clockspeed, the low voltage used and most of all the FSB :slobber:
thanks guys! :D ive had a very fun time with this one.
yea, thats what im hoping for, its pretty warm down here in the work room during the day (23-24c) i may just try in the morning, when its down at around 15-16, wonder if that may give me a little edge.Quote:
