just ordered one but its 243+7 dollar shipping so 250, not too bad.
On order. Now just need DFI to get their thumbs out and send me back my board.
Just ordered mine as well. Hope it plays nice with the vapo for testing.
heh, i just want it to be stable at 3.0ghz on air and im happy as can be =P. should have it on wednsday woot
Mine is on order also....
Ordered! :)
waiting :d
same here ordered in euroland for 185eur :) to run on my 790 board, now still waiting on some decent 780 board releases for my main rig....
Hopefully prices will go down to $200 or less....
$250 is way too much to pay for a 9850 IMO. I can't justify it when I can get a Q6600 for $199.
I'm waiting for this; not sure whats up with the heatsink next to the IDE though
http://www.techpowerup.com/img/08-02-25/destroyer.jpg
I'll hold on and get the L3less Propus when it'll be out.
Ordered :)
Bought and now SHIPPED.
(So they say.)
I was kind of bummed; I ordered from Newegg on friday as soon as it was available. Due to that timing I kind of figured it wouldn't get shipped until monday and I'd get it Tuesday. (Since UPS doesn't deliver on saturday.)
Well apparently UPS does PICK up on saturday... especially for larger clients. (When I hit "order" it did say they'd try to ship on saturday 4/5... but I figured that was just the standard computer message.)
All day yesterday... my order status stayed at #3 ("your order will soon be processed.") Today: Status = #5. ("Shipped.")
JUBILATION. Although I don't have the official tracking number yet.
But there is a chance I could possibly get my stuff TOMORROW. Jubilation AND A-men.
(Where was that from... "Jubilation"... I think maybe a character in the game Baldur's Gate? Or was it Neverwinter Nights?)
Anyway it'll be AMD day all over the place.
Keithlm.......Are those the baby blue set of 2X2GB G-SKILLS? if so are there any issues Booting with 1066 divider set in Bios?
(Yes the baby blue.) I have no idea yet about 1066. I'll keep you posted. Some people seem to have great luck with these... but the main post I read was a K8 and overclocking. (This thread?) Nothing concrete yet about 1066. I might be in for a world of pain. (I would have got OCZ but Newegg was out.)
They were the best for the least money on Newegg. The step down was Patriot... which is borderline "okay". I've had their stuff before... runs ok at stock.
I wanted a bit more so I thought I'd try "Great Skill at Memory". What a name. :-)
Anyway... if only UPS delivered on sunday. <sigh>
will price change again on Monday, 4/7? i thought amd was lowering price on Monday.
ORDERED!!!! ....And on the way:D
With the DFI 790 MotF Bane?
I've read some people have this ram working at 1066 with a Phenom. (And others with regular X2 500BE..)
You're the first I've read about that had problems with it. (Perhaps they've updated the BIOS since then?)
Anyway... we'll see what happens tomorrow.
BTW: I declare this "PHENOM EVE." (At least in North America.)
It was the Night before Phenom and all through the house,
The AMD geeks were stirring, some using a mouse
Their thoughts were all filled with flashing LEDs
while visions of overclocks danced in their heads.
In the morning a sound they did hear...
it was a truck motor... a grinding... or a gear.
The UPS person they came to the door.
And said "Sir sign here for booty galore."
Keith ....entirely too much of that Fruit Cake they have been tossing over your way:D
From what ive been seeing ,,It seems its all about the BIOS for 1066 setting..
Besides ,, ill have what ever he's on ^,, He probally hides behind the shrubs and scares UpS guy too..:rofl:j/k
With all these "ordered" posts, im starting to think XS is what keeps AMD from going bankrupt!
Its run across my mind some time ago about that...
Plus there are thousands here that read the postings at least once a day .Thier friends also read the post and when you think about it..We do influence something for buying Upgrades i must say..
AMD can make a come back ,,its thier time now i believe..
Note:when overclocking ,,
Sometimes one self needs to learn the hard way, before things get Easier or stable:ROTF: This also applies to AMD making a comeback.
240.99 at clubit with free fedex shipping :D

Sorry your board went bad... but that makes me feel a little better about buying that ram. But only a little.
Dang it I hate waiting for UPS.
OH THE ANGST!
http://www.edvard-munch.com/Painting...y/scream_3.jpg
"UPS GUY... is that YOU?
Oh. Just another garbage truck. HOW MANY FREAKING GARBAGE TRUCKS DOES THIS TOWN HAVE???"
EDITED: So I can print out a good copy FOR the UPS guy.
Hey Guys, I've got a 9850 on the way from the Egg too. Unfortunately I'm not expecting mine until Wednesday... :(
If you folks wouldn't mind, take a photo or at least note the Stepping/Batch code before you install it and let us know what ya got. :D
You know what I mean, production week/mem controller. IE: 08xx xPMW...
I'm just curious to see if there is any relationship between production weeks and overclockability like there used to be with the X2's. Since it's such a huge die I get the feeling it might be even more luck of the draw than it used to be, but it would still be interesting info. ;)
C'mon Keith, it'll only take a couple seconds to write down 8 digits...
As for XS selling alot of Phenoms, I think that is VERY true! They should give us all trade up's from B2's to B3's for say..... $40....
Hey , Dave yah I will Record my Stepping for the Log and I think that we should all be really adamant about doing that and that means one and all. AMD is most definitely:yepp: watching this forum closely and I think that has allot to do with going from B2 Loser - B3 Winner!
I give up.

(Bet most people knew about the last picture but not this one. I didn't.)
He's not going to bring it today.
Who cares anymore.
Ho hum.
<sigh>
Where is those worms at? I'm hungry?
You got it all wrong Bro it Goes Like This>>>>>>>:D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFG0SPwxF24
No UPS guy STILL. I'm losing it:
http://www.tiemposfuturos.es/Imagenes/brazil_3.jpg
UPS GUY WHERE ARE YOU?
(NOTE: I'm the one sitting in the chair. I'm sure you know what movie this is from?)
Well we finally got Em in Canada, although the price is a bit high about 260+
should go down a few bucks. Got an MSI K9A2 and Odin GT 800w standing by;)
Definitely take a picture of your Phenom (best way IMO) chances are you'd
want to know all the "numbers" (stepping/batch whatever:rolleyes: )yourself later on.Here is my 9600BE:)
for example.
Should I switch? I hear you can't get more than a 300MHz OC on these. Right now I'm running an X2 5000+ BE @ 3.4GHz. Would I see any improvement going with the X4?
This is the B3 revision, so they will probably oc more than 300mhz. Most sites got 2.9-3.1ghz out of it. The 9850BE is a quad-core while your 5000BE is only dual-core, so if you do a lot of video encoding and photo editing it's definitely worth the upgrade. But if you mainly just play games, most games doesn't use more than 2 cores right now, so it's probably not worth it to upgrade. Just wait for more games support to support quad core then upgrade to the 45nm version Phenom that's coming late this year.
Contrary to that being said the Phenom games like a 6400+BE @ 3.5:clap: staggering difference to Intel Quad Core Gaming completely:)
good to hear, because thats what im replacing =P. My Phenom gets here tomorrow! wooot! =). im still debating wether or not i should buy a new HSF... i.e. the tuniq tower 120 or something. what temps should i be under and whatnot? what is a good temp for a 3.0ghz overclock? what is max temp before overheating on the 9850s?
Hey Tic tac if you don't mind me asking who is that lovely girl in your avatar:)
you mean lovely lady
Keithlm: Maybe I need to watch Brazil again, it's been a long time... I'm a huge Monty Python/Terry Gilliam fan though!
I still think his best flick was "12 Monkeys", everytime I watch that film I make a connection I missed before... :yepp:
BTW, sorry to hear about your system problems, that sucks...
It's B3 eve for me!! :D
This girl? ;)
http://tictac.890m.com/gallery/detai...3f751bb9fc98ab
Hey tictac is she that Australian girl who was caught in Bali taking tablets in a nightclub?
I can't remember her name but it looks like her.:D
my package arrived! =P it was at my parents house tho, so it wont be until late tonight or tomorrow that i can play with it =(... cant wait to overclock this baby! :D

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
yeah!!!! i got mine today as well.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3245/...9b10c9b5_o.jpg
i have the same stepping as you Gunter.
i did notice something different on the heat spreader (u can see it in Gunters photo above).... they have these edges on the corners. i wonder if that effects contact with the heatsink, or does it allow room for thermal paste?
Awesome man, post all of your results and we can compare... and as for those edges... im not to worried about it since i planned on lapping the crap out of the integrated heat spreader anyways :yepp: ... but when you run your fingernail over them, they deffinately feel a little raised... dunno, but i recommend lapping regardless. :)
Got mine today too... :D
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3..._11_9850BE.jpg
Glad I got a week 10, but the BPAW is a little different that what I've seen so far... Hopefully that will be a good thing. :p:
As for those little flanges on the edges of the chip, my 96BE had them too.
Oh well, I'm off to install it and do a little testing...
Well it appears that its Christmas on XS 2day:cool:
Well, granted this is a very preliminary report, but this thing won't even run Prime95 blend at stock settings for more than a few minutes!!
After a few crashes, I upped the Mem to 2.0v's (which is low spec). I have a pretty good feel as to how Phenoms work, and this doesn't look good at all. :(
I even flashed back a couple bios versions... No change..
Oh well, I'll play with it for a few days. If things don't get better I'd say that is definetly worthy of an RMA.
Looks like I may have gotten a Lump of Coal in my stocking Brother E.
Thats ghetto Dave and sorry to hear that man!
I would say I hate you.
But I had a taste. A taste of sweet quad. More taste AND more filling.
Oh but now I must wait.
Who was it that said good things comes to those that wait? Did they ever have to RMA stuff to newegg? I thought NOT.
<cry>
<sorrow>
There can be only one.
http://news.filefront.com/wp-content...der_connor.jpg
But alas... it won't be me. <insert sound of crying like a little girl>
Oh wait... is that you... TONY? Is that what you look like??? <grin>
BTW: Beer helps. A little. More beer helps even more.
Hey... Want to see some 4800+ benchmarks?????
BTW: All joking aside. When it WAS running... anything I ran was INSTANT. I want that NOW. Interestingly... even with 4 Prime95 threads... I could still run stuff and it it seemed as fast as my current machine. OH MY SWEET MOTHERBOARD.... DADDY IS WAITING FOR YOU.
(BTW: Brother Esau... I never mentioned... I have a 16 year old cat also. If she had problems... I would give all my computer stuff away if it would make her live longer. Not "realistic"... but it is true. This computer stuff is all fun.. but a friend of 16 years is more important. Did you look at the cat fountain link I sent you? It is a GOD thing for a cat. Worth every penny. Oh. My cat is named "Penny". And I'm drunk.... <hiccup>. Sorry for the melancholy stuff. But get your little friend one of those... and when you are drunk you can share...)
I finally got home and got to try this baby out... i posted my results in the dfi thread =P... (here
<<<HICCUP>>> .........BELCH:D .........Nah didn't really look at it Keith but I will and yes I agree I would not take even $10,000,000.00 in Exchange for my little boy Marshall I have had him since he was a couple of months old and was one of the first people to hold him when his eyes opened;) He's my Bestest friend in the whole world he's lived in Hawaii and been everywhere with me;)
my phenom came was stable 3ghz on stock air with stock volts then died 45 minutes later :( memory controller looks to be busted
post led's on both mobo's show up as a memory error. more specifically the dfi board i got stuck on the C1 error which i was told is the start to a memory detection proses and if your not getting by C1 then theres something wrong with your memory subsystem. If the memory does work then the only other thing I can think of is the memory controller dead
I was going to go Q6600, but my AMD fanboyism kicked in. Returned teh proc yesterday.
Stupid Intel manufacturing makes you have to cherry-pick processors for OC too much anyway.
Wiggy, put that 5000BE back in there an see if it still works...
I could be wrong, but I'd be willing to bet the Mobo PMW failed with the Phenom... BE's require alot of power, not sure the BioStar 770 can handle a Phenom...
Yah seriously doubt you killed the cpu . maybe but highly unlikely!
The TA770 can handle ALOT compared to other 770's it is the TF560 that has less Phase and only (4pin for CPU) that id worry about!.. Heatsinks on those FET's will help .I would only run 9850BE in a Mobo with 8pin/24pin...
Do a Cmos Clear maybe remove reinstall ram i bet it resets..Test one stick out at a time too...youd be suprized what little glitches Phenoms have besides the Mobo...Youve probally tried everything in the book...I do know The IMC can trigger errors/restarts even a locked PC/no bios boot...Running to High of MHZ with stock volts and then throw in a power dip from the good old Mobo/PSU and whamo
restart.
I hope your chips Ok....Worst case its probaly the L3 power phase on the 560...that will definatly affect the timing/ ram/ no boot Led on for Ram.
it was with the dfi 790fx M2R. second phenom 9850 that died right now im thinking its the board. Both boards work with a 5000+ BE but the 9850's are stuck on C1 on the dfi and memory error with the biostar. tried numerous sticks of ram that all work with the 5000+. both were stock volts one was oc'ed but both died when loading everest.
I'm the owner of that 790FX Phenom-killer. Took mine after a few hours, stuck in C1, tried Ballistix and TeamGroup. No other AM2 board to try the Phenom in, I'm going to try mounting my 5000+ soon to check. 2.0 volts on the memory, but the memory was very warm.
My 9500 also died on the first day in that mobo. DFI support says tools like Sandra/Speedfan can cause the bios to be corrupted, which results in C1 errors.
I got the bios working again with an BE2400 and had no problems with an 9600BE and an 9850BE so far, but the 9500 did not yet post and i tried three different boards. As C1 errors are memory related i guess it's the IMC on the cpu whom stopped working.
I'd recommend bios versions 130/307 or 331 on the DFI M2A and be carefull with those low IO accesing tools like Sandra/Speefan/Evereset. Best is to run only one of those at a time.
Can you take the 9500 back for exchange? Should have the 3 year warranty.
Maybe try that "freezing" method KTE used to "revive" his phenom.
They sell this "dustbuster" which is Compressed air in cans) in North America, which blows C02 (I think)under high pressure,to get the dust out of togh to reach places, anyway if you flip the can and blow it you'll get a -50C "freeze".If it sells in Europe maybe you could try it?
Any ideas on what would be the best board for a 9850 Black Edition? DFI is not the answer, although it seems like a lot of the 9850 owners have them.
Like I said (somewhere here:confused: ) I've been looking for a 790fx for
a long long time, then it hit me:why not ask the devil itself?
So I went to AMD site, which only "recommends" 2 boards:MSI k9a2 v1
& the Asus790fx (check revision)
Msi was my choice a few month ago already, but could not get it in Canada
until a week or so ago;) :yepp: So I picked one up.
Plus (a big one:D ) thats what KTE is using;) and he's like a walking Phenom database, one of a kind too
Had the CPU in the fridge at ~-15° tried to mount em as quick as possible just placed the HSF on em, but it did not work.
I will try to RMA that thing once B2's are no longer available. Maybe i get an 9550. ;)
Interesting tip i think we have similar cans at work for keyboard clearing purpose.
Well I did not seak to DFI but it was reported from two users here whom called that lowel level I/O can corrupt the bios. In this case flashing the bios chip helped. Will it break the cpu? I don't know. In my case it can also have been high voltages and high temps or that low IMC hight RAM voltage thing which occured few times short after B2 release (never heard of that again). I'll try to rma that thing(9500) in the future maybe amd can figure out if it was my fault or not.
At 88 code flashing the cmos by pressing reset and power buttons on the mobo always helped.
