Way to go everyone.
Hey guys don't know if you noticed or not but the team's PPD is now over 200K, meaning we are RED! Congrats!
I seem to have been unoticed lol. Never mentioned in this thread but doesn't matter I'll still keep doing my small bit :o
Sparky some teams have gotten 50% boosts, being mostly a 3d benching site, shouldn't we get more

Finally, I get the recognition I deserve mhwahwaha
Naw I know that my output is peanuts compared to others and I'm in it for the science not the fame. Though I do like seeing my output grow so much with my 9600gt, it doesn't bother me their people coming out off nowhere who with the new gpu client are going to push this team upwards even faster and with more determination.
I'm just very glad to be along for ride, and I hope in the end something will come out of this which will make every moment of thought and attention given to this project might have made a diffrence for the lives of so many to come.
wow this new gpu client is really taking off... i find myself looking on ebay and newegg for 8800gt's to put together a few budget gpu rigs. i guess im hooked. lol :wtf:

That's all right you still look green,;)
Welcome surely, but this milestone's thread actually isn't ment for welcome's we have a seperate one for that
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=192759
Happy folding and welcome to the team. If you have the choice, for the gpu clients use vista x64 it has the lowest cpu usage on the gpu client and will allow you to run another client on the cpu.
 :wtf:
Edit: thanks socketman, that enough attention for now you're making me blush ;)
Broke 50k points today. I'm currently 119th. I don't even remember when I started folding. Two weeks now? Maybe?

Your going to move slower when you get higher, trust me ;)
I have to say, to everyone, that team graph is making me very proud to be folding for XS! Though, if you leave out the top3, I know for a fact we can do so much more... we need to get everyone onboard. doesn't matter they do seti or whatever on their cpu's all their gpu's belong to us :D
Or... w/e :wtf:
{Some famous voice}
And now, give it up for the one, the only, 2long4u with 347237points!!!!
{/Some famous voice}
Sorry I'm not very entertaining right now. ( bad day )
Edit: I think I missed you 2long4u you ran with super duper high scores for awhile and then turned south :( Think you'll keep up with me since you let me pass this easily :wtf:
I am almost 50K and I started on 6/28 :yepp:
My brother has the PS3 so that has been down for like 3 days and I have been encoding a lot lately so I have to shut down for that. It is killing my average. :shakes:
You know guys, I did something today I hadn't done in awhile, I pressed on the button which takes me to the oldest thread on this subforum.. give it a try and tell me again how happy you are with 50K. Took people allot, and I do mean ALLOT more then it takes us today. I passed so many great names already, people who spend allot off time folding for this team and the cause, and when I read those posts and saw their enthousiasm it made me humble again.
Yeah I am beating people left and right with points now, but all those people you are passing all have done their part, some more then you would ever imagine with current ppd.
Maybe it's my emo night idk had to share :D
I ran folding with 25 or 30 P4s, P4 HT, and AMD single cores for 3 years just to get close 3 million.
I noticed a lot of people with 0 PPD listed on the team. It does feel a little like stealing when you pass up hundreds of people in a week. With the gains we get now a million is more like 50K not too long ago. I used to do the BOINC screensaver a long time ago but never paid attention to my scores. I am not even sure they kept them back then. If they did I didn't look. The new GPU client got me excited to get back in to it. I think a lot of people are jumping in because of the CUDA client. All for the greater good if you ask me.
Exactly my point, I feel humble in your pressence and I don't mean that lightly. Btw are you the same road runner as on the folding forums? I see allot off names from XS there, names I don't often see here. That's ashame, XS would be even better if you made your continuing presence a lil more known. Sometimes we lil guys need you to keep motivated, to see there are others who do this and enjoy it, who keep at it no matter the cost.
That being said, reaching 3 million that I probably will in my lifetime, but idk when. I'll be glad to get to my 1mil goal this year ( total.. which isn't hard actually ).
Thanks for rejoining, both the greater good and team xs are happy to have you.
I'm planning a big pr push when it comes out off beta. Though I'm starting to doubt, clients seems stable enough as it is already ( on the other hand, multiple gpu's seem to be working reasonably well so maybe time is shorter then I expect for the client to appear ). There was in interview with Vijah which stated that even one percent off every cuda capable card, is able to form the fastest computing cluster in the world. Offcourse there is some pr in it, but if we aren't able to pull in atleast 1% off xs traffic I'm serieusly dissapointed ( in myself? ).
Happpy folding!
Hey! Thats 374K not 347K.
Yea I don't know what happened there for a while. Clients would just stop working. I check them at least once every 2 days now.
Like I said I'm proud to be on the same team as you
Sorry! And check em more often
Frail? Older? You mean as old as in already desintegrating?
:wtf: everyone, I'm glad to be on the same team ;)
Not disintegrating really, but I've had a few issues with them here and there. A couple of the PSUs started venting their caps due to age, stress, and not being really high quality units (they are decent enough but rather old and certainly not close to a corsair or PCP&C unit) and the one just had a really wacky board issue for a while until I ditched it (it was an old celeron anyway and the AMD 3700+ that replaced it spanks it pretty well). Generally they run fine but every so often they zoink out. The joys of older hardware :D
That's the hw I like, the one which needs constant tinkering but if you get it right still runs like a champ and makes us all proud
Though... I'm not running any right now because I'm missing some essential parts, working older hw, everything I had before the c2d is in hw heaven or close ( almost everything, some things I'm going to assure a last run before they can rest eternally ).
I have one mobo/ram/CPU/PSU set just sitting here not hooked up.... but I somehow doubt it is worth hooking up. Old K6-2 400MHz lol. Still works though, and I delidded it too!
Lol I'm not that high horsepower. Have a s939 with a venice 3200 laying which doesn't boot, could be anything since the dude ran it without cooling I think it's dead though. I mean, I tell em 3 times, your fan is busted it's not spinning that's why you have these issues ( bsod's ), get a new cpu cooler or atleast rig a fan up to it... he doesn't listen. I sold em the thing, but I thought ok what the heck and took it back and gave him a p4 2.4 fully working. Sempron 2800 also died, board for idk must be somewhere have to look it up. Banias lappy I dropped down the stairs while I was under extended warranty but they decided not to pay up to this day. Meh listing it makes me feel sad :(
Ya know what I have a 939 3200+ right here on my desk. I don't know what core it is though, I ran out of boards and ram sets to use it anymore. If you want it you are welcome to have it, though I have a feeling shipping would be a bit on the high side unfortunately. It is one of my "masterpieces" - I replaced three broken pins on it.
I would take you up on it but idk if for sure if it's the board or the cpu, and I once arranged a simular deal on another forum and I got the short stick. Not that I payed for it, but he promised a certain chip and what I got was a> another cpu and b> busted, all the while he's trying to accuse me off having had the right cpu but toasting it and not willing to admit it. I know this is a whole other ball park community, and even without that, I trust you as a person more then that guy, if only because you like XS :)
I took back the cpu with the board, it was a combo. I can pick up another s939 rig second hand for 10 euro or something, but even that seems allot of money for the performance ( I'm getting spoiled by intel... ). Fahwise I would be happy if I got a couple of hundred points from it, though I was thinking of putting two gpu folders together, or one with both an nVidia and an Ati card ( vm's for the os's to prevent driver conflicts, think it should work ) and then a 3200 oc'd to 2.7 which is ran semi stable on my asrock. On a good mobo it might do better, with vista x64 I might run two cards from it..
Ahh well, nice pipedream ;)
The CPU works now, that I do know. I'd give it to you for just shipping really as it is doing me no good just sitting here and to be honest, regardless of how well the chip works, I would feel a bit funny selling a CPU with 3 replaced pins on it. I can't imagine that it has a whole lot of dollar value right now anyway considering its age
Well if you want to donate it, I'll have it for the shipping ( comes to 8 euro last time I got something sent to lol, cheap cpu ).
I'm just not sure if I have a working board for it, and if the board is broken and not the cpu, I got two 3200+ and no board lol.
You are welcome to it :)
Shoot me a PM with your full address and I'll see about firing it off to you when I get a chance. If you have paypal that is the easiest probably. I could ship it first so that we have an exact amount, no guesswork on costs (could put a max limit on it if you like so that it doesn't end up being a surprise in a recent price hike or something). Any preference in shipment method? USPS international OK?
I'll send you a pm today when I get back from the hospital ( if I can still stand then ).
With Team [XS] PPD skyrocketing, we've got crunching records galore!

:wtf: team! You guys rock!!
VINDICATION!!!! I need to get a couple more systems crunching for me. XPS, Whoopass, and EVGA are gunning for us at the beginning of next year. Whoopass and EVGA are putting out double our numbers. Is there anything we can do to get more participation from the community?
Everybody needs to install the gpu2 client on all of our GPUs. And the people with quads need to install the regular client too.
I could probably do the regular client as well, even though I am C2D, but I am worried about heat. My card already sits at mid to high 70s all day. I live in the desert! One core sits at about 35% and the other at about 12%. There should be room but if my CPU is at high 50s that may push my GPU above 80 which I don't want. I know it can handle that but I don't know about 24/7 and this rig is about to be passed to my wife when I build a new one in a couple months. I may be picking up another 8800GTX this month for SLI as well, mainly for longevity of the system for her. I don't want to kill her rig before she even gets it. I have a Sunbeam Transormer; three 80mm, two in and one out, and two 120mm, one in and one out. TRUE 120 with push pull 113 CFM fans. It stays cool but I am just worried about the additional heat.
You guys think it can the additional heat load or just run GPU clients on this machine and then crush my next system as well?
I have a Q6600 clocked to 3 gigs with the stock cooler and it runs fine. I am running 2 SMP clients with the affinity changer.
You have a TRUE I wouldn't worry about running the SMP client with the affinity changer. What are your ambient temps in your house?
It depends if people are here. If noone is here it could be low 90s if the AC is off easy. If my wife and kids are here then usually mid 70s. It is when people aren't here how hot it is going to get. I live near Palm desert. It is one of the hottest places on the planet.
you can attempt to calculate your adjusted ambient/load temps with simple math..
dl calc plus to convert C/F temps... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
example:
let's say my Q6600 loads at 55c in a 72F room...
so as a formula that's 22c(71.6F) = 55c(131F) load.
increase the ambient to 93F (34c). this is a +12c increase from before.
apply that to the formula above.
ambient 22c + 12c = 34c new ambient
-----load 55c + 12c = 67c new load
that's not completely accurate, but it gives a good idea of what ambient temps do to your load temps... and it would help a lot if you pulled the side and left a fan running blowing all the air away...
Team [XS] continues the mighty contributions to mankind's search for cures!!

Coo-coo, don't forget about Twiggy at 2,000,000!!!
Are there certain projects that give a lot better PPD than others? I notice that even if I change nothing and run for 48 hours my points can swing pretty drastically. My settings are set to just download whatever Stanford gives me.
Just hit 100K!
Awesome work! :up::clap::clap::clap:
:hump: to each and everyone
I'm firing up my systems this week again too... hmm, at least one I figure :wiggle:
I have two instances of SMP going on my quad. It'll be interesting to see how that runs when i play UT3. Better than just one, eh? its at least another 1k ppd more than before.
Time for some updates, because there's some serious crunchin' goin' on!!

Awww... I got mentioned... I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I think I might start installing the client on other computers as well... :D
I wish my brother or uncle asked me to build them a PC so i could setup my first borgs
yay hit the million :D
at my current rate, 2 million in... 10 months :lol2: Let's see if we can shorten that :D
yo, sc00p, you better get those rigs back on, 3.3 weeks man and STOMP STOMP :D
Man.... no recognition for hitting 200k....
Bacon hit 200k!
I have 23k to go... sure I'll race...
:wasntme:
Nah.. I don't really get 5kppd...
:wasntme:
I think I get about 6K ppd since I don't fold 24/7. If I can start going to bed before 1, realistically, 11, I can fold 16 hr / day and probably get 8K. I don't think I can beat you to 250k ;). It would be a hell of a try though if i had say, 3 more GPUs folding that I currently do.
If you ran all those 24/7, you would have some massive points... you would be closing in on 18-20k.
I've stuck this thread. We all have milestones, some big or small. They all should be recognised as everyones personal achievement. Lets celebrate them in our fine tradition.
Nice work, stickies are starting to make sense now :yepp:
Not gonna wait around for you guys to notice... :D
http://i37.tinypic.com/8yamgj.jpg
nice work
let's see you ramp up to that 100K now :D
We want 100K so get on it soldier!:D
Team XS, according to Free-DC, breached 340K/Day yesterday. We seem to be growing at 100k/day/month. In English that means we might be making 440k/day this time next month (should the rise continue). great work. Personally I also seem to be hitting correct scores.
http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?p...36362&offset=1
I was looking at the monthly team stats and it doubled from March ~4.000.000
to ~ 8.000.000 in July - that is sick (in a good way)
Anyway, the only explanation I could come up with for this massive increase is that I joined up in April:rofl::ROTF::yepp::up:
You also hit a million. coo coo.
