I like to see how well PSC ICs perform.
I have not seen any reviews yet as they are so new. Redbeard has a set doing about 1150 IIRC in the lab and they are a retail set. I have a set here with me but I have not tried to push them yet. But, they are rock solid at 1066/2.1v.
There was press realease while back saying PC2-8500 and PC2-9136 2x2GB sets were to be released.... but only see the PC2-8500
Has the PC2-9136 been scrapped beacuse not sufficient ammount of chips passing the binning process?
Whats the full rated timmings including all subtimings?

It was only "quick n dirty" Memtesting but, I had a single set hit 4,4,4,12 at 2.1v DDR900 over the weekend. I did not try to run the OS but I am figuring CAS4 900 or so should be pretty easy.

See post #2. I don't have any of the 9136s yet but they might have a little more headroom than the 8500s. I'll post results as I get them.
i do see you said they were a retail set but how is this "lab" testing compared with real world use.. i would assume "lab" testing would yield higher results (possibly) then real world 24/7 usage.
and how much time was spent to get them at 1150? or was it fairly easy to achieve. i dont think the 9136's will do really any much higher than the rated speeds at least not if they are using the same ic's..these have a great rebate right now and i am tempted but i def want the ability to do near 1150 24/7..

Redbeard is in Germany at CEBIT. He can elaborate on what specifics his results are based on when he gets back. But, his OC is stable for 24/7. He's not just reporting a suicide run.

arghhhhh do i wait then or take advantage of the sweet rebate on the 1066's right now.... dont want to miss that if i go with the 1066's...i was going to go another brand but i must say i am not very thrilled with their online help and responses and their rma dept def does not seem to be what corsair or crucial's is.. at least i know ill get it taken care of if there is a problem..
Unless your CPU can run a FSB substantially faster than 533mhz I don't think you will see a huge difference between the 2 kits. The 9136 kit is definitely for that top end OC where an user wants ever last mhz from the memory.Quote:

They are indeed Powerchips ICs. I have no idea what everyone else is using or how they screen them.

The new 8500 4GB kits, they do 2.0v 1081 5-5-5-15-4-50-4-4 on X38, with AI Clock Twist - Strong, Transaction Booster - Disabled (1) on Bios 1004. I would say thats awesome :)

not much of an oc?? they are rated for 1066 so 1080 not much of a oc.. yes its def low volts but.. have you tried pushing them more im still on the fence about ordering these ones

Yes, so far they work fine with all the Intel and Nvidia chipsets including your X-38.

seems running better now....weird....I'm no poser-wannabe---I really don't know what this all means....just want a stable rig...after all dust settles...I'm going back to default safe BIOS per aBit...

damn Saitek KB...always gave me problems....
At one point a while back, I think there was an issue with certain USB keyboards and this MOBO. Look for a USB device option to change the keyboard and mouse support, or see if you can navigate the BIOS using a PS2 keyboard if you have one. Also, make sure you have the most recent BIOS.
update:
had remove the Corsair Module Fans...too loud and retention bracket is very loose...if made to fit tight, it vibrated too much....plus don't like how the retention bracket being so close to vidcard

and yes, I connected the USB KB directly to one of the aBit mobo USB...before I had the USB KB connected thru the Dell UltraSharp 2407FPW-HC's USB.....no more noise...and static artifact

I'm posting this in hopes it will give Corsair some constructive criticism, to show them that they need to do better, especially with the way money is today.
I had two kits of 8500C5D both were version 1.x (Micron) they were replaced with 2.2 and 4.2. The second set of Micron's died right after I sent out the first kit to be replaced (go figure). Both kits sent in place of those have given me problems within weeks, with one set shipping with a dead module. The first kit I got back from RMA are version 2.2. They will do 1084Mhz C5 or 889Mhz C4. This kit could care less about how much voltage you give them. Anything other than 2.1v is pointless. A few weeks ago I started getting errors and BSOD's, one of the sticks was giving errors. The other kit 4.2 arrived with one dead stick. However the 1GB will do 1092Mhz C5 or 911Mhz C4, again voltage doesn't matter just as long as it's 2.1v.
So now I have 2 kits each with a dead stick after just a few weeks. I'm going to RMA them one last time and stick them up on EBay. I'm not posting this to complain to Corsair but rather to tell them that they've lost a customer. In the last few years I have seen the RAM qualtiy go downhill. It's overpriced, heavily marketed RAM that is NOT enthusiast quality. I paid $250 and $200 for these kits, while I understand that Micron are no longer making the D9GMH Corsair have failed to fill the gap with anything even remotely high performance. People will argue that if it runs spec than sometimes that's the way the ball bounces but not when it's advertised and sold as high performance RAM. That's just my opinion.
I told myself I wasn't going to complain about this situation because I don't feel it will matter but I just wanted Corsair to know that they will continue to lose customers if this trend continues. The bottom line is for the quality that they is offering there are a dozen other faster and much cheaper kits to be had, both on the DDR2 and DDR3 side.
I really hope they reverse this trend because it used to be that you didn't have to spend $400+ for a nice set of their memory. Corsair used to be my favorite and only choice.

Crap I didn't see this was the 2x2GB 8500C5D versions. Well it still applies just not to this specific kit.
Thanks for the feedback. Also, keep in mind that the MOBO you have listed in your signature had a bad reputation for killing memory. "IF" this is the case with yours, you may want to have it replaced as it will kill any memory you put in it.
The PSC ICs in our 4GB are great so I'm not sure what you are trying to say with respect to ICs. As far as the discontinuation of ICs, we are at the mercy of the IC makers. We can only build with what we can buy. If this were not the case, I'm sure some company would still be building DDR400 with Winbond BH-5s.
